I'm amazed at the transformation this course made in my year-old border collie mix. We took the class to address a variety of problems (pulling on walks, constantly jumping on guests, not being able to contain herself around other dogs, getting easily distracted, etc). I never would have dreamed she would be able to sit-stay at the end of a leash with other dogs running past her! Karen and her team are extremely knowledgeable about the needs of each breed, and will modify the lesson to fit your dog. I am always getting compliments from other dog walkers in the community on how well she heels! I would definitely recommend PUPS to any dog owner! More...

One moment on my walk with my dog Remy yesterday summed up the immense benefit of PUPS training programs. We were walking around my neighborhood and saw another dog a little ways down the street, running alongside its owner. Remy noticed the dog and the runner and her first reaction was to look up at me for guidance. This is an incredible transformation from the highly reactive, nervous, unfocused dog I brought home eight months ago, who would have lunged out toward the distraction and whined nonstop. Karen, Sue and the team at PUPS do far more than teach your dog to sit and stay. They teach owners how to communicate effectively with their dogs, and their programs build a strong foundation of trust between dog and handler. I have done the basic course and e-collar with PUPS and I am endlessly grateful for the way they've helped me improve life with my dog. We're both much happier and more confident. I have every intention of continuing to work with PUPS with Remy and any future dogs I have. More...

Hi Karen,
Abby and my husband and I took your basic obedience class back in 2010-2011, and I'm writing to you today to thank you for helping us develop Abby into such a confident good dog. She was a star in the class, but I appreciate that star status even more now. We just had a baby in February and Abby is a wonderful walking buddy- especially with the stroller. I've had neighbors comment on her automatic sit when I stop before crossing the street. And while barking dogs may rile her up a little, she is never the one to start things or get out of control.
Thank you!
Kristina Nolan

As first time dog owners, we were looking for reliable, weekly obedience classes to train us how to train our dog. Our rescue pup is a sweet, obedient boy but very intense and strong. He had been controlling us until PUPS taught us how to let him learn to trust us.
Life changed within minutes of using the prong collar and walks became much less of a struggle. We started actually walking our dog rather than being dragged by him. He is better able to handle distractions like rabbits and squirrels, calmly walking past them rather than trying to take off after them!
The hands-on, weekly class was exactly what we needed. We were given assignments each week to work on, building and developing a better relationship with our dog and giving him the physical and mental stimulation he needs. The instructors are knowledgeable and willing to answer every question- and as first time parents, we had a lot! We'll be back for advanced training and will be recommending PUPS to everyone!

This was the best training! I have a 12 year old reactive dog who made remarkable improvement in just 8 weeks. (And I improved as a dog parent too) Not only do you learn what to do but why. I now have a better bond with my dog (and I didn't think was even possible) and I am much more confident when we go on adventures together.
If you do the homework, you can't help but get results!!

I chose PUPS because they train without treats. I've put two of my dogs through their basic class and I would recommend them highly. Both of my dogs are small - 9# each - and I did not want them to be those obnoxious yippy small dogs. The training was spot on, the dogs loved it and so did I. You must practice each week otherwise you are wasting everyones time. If you find you are falling behind they will work with you to make sure you catch up, understand the reason for the methods and offer one-on-one help when needed. No matter how many people and dogs are in each class I always knew that I was getting just as much attention as everyone else. They have continued to be helpful even after our official training was over. I'm looking forward to taking some of the more advanced classes as well. Cannot say enough good things about Karen and her crew. Sign up!! More...

Can't say enough good things about this place. After 3 months of dealing with escalating aggression and one week of her starting to nip our kid's friends out of anxiety we almost took Miley back to the rescue. She was becoming a liability with all the children that come though here. We had done 8 weeks at another treat based training class. She learned everything they taught with food but when the food was gone would go right to targeting other dogs. PUPS and Karen got Miley back on track day 1! I was amazed week 1 around 10 other dogs. When she started to target a dog, Karen's daughter guided me with an appropriate correction. Miley stopped immediately, calmed and sat then laid at my feet the whole hour. Week 6 just finished at PUPS and we weaved through the other dogs at perfect heel. No sign of aggression. AMAZING. Miley was lunging at the other dogs at the other old class week after week. A place that wanted another $225 for 1.5 hr aggressive behavior consult! Before the $300 cranky dog class.

Don't waste your money anywhere else. Try Karen/PUPS, do your weekly training exercise, and you have a great obedient dog. PUPS will help you build a relationship with your pup. Miley is lucky we found them.

Karen and Kristen know their stuff. Great classes, great one on one work, great facility. I've seen them work with all types of dogs, types of temperament, and types of issues. They get second-hand dogs and their needs. They also know how to bring out the best in any puppy. Check them out, I don't think you will be disappointed.

If you are looking to do advanced work with your dog, they bring in exceptional outside talent to help you reach your goals. Big names in the competitive dog world. No drama, totally supportive environment. Live, learn, grow with your dog!

Karen and Kristen were wonderful to work with. I have a ~4 year old reactive American Pitbull Terrier mix who had no interest in listening to me anytime we stepped outside on a leash. After going through PUPS' basic obedience class, I'm happy to say I've seen great improvements not only in my dogs' ability and desire to listen but his overall happiness as well. I have also become a much more confident dog owner who can now make the right decisions for my dog.

Recently, while on a walk, we were able to calmly pass by numerous cats without barking or lunging for the first time ever!! Moments like this would not have been possible without Karen/PUPS.

In the beginning of 2017, my boyfriend and I rescued a 7 month old boxer mix. He had separation anxiety (to the point that he would lose his mind if I walked out of the room), crate issues where he would cry or bite himself when he was in the crate, and people aggression (he had lunged at my boyfriend several times). Needless to say, our dog was very reactive and we weren't sure if our home could be his forever home. We decided to give PUPS obedience school a try as it was recommended by the adoption center. During our initial evaluation, Karen was extremely supportive and understanding of our situation- she gave us some tips on how to handle our dog during the period of time before we started the group classes. Within 1 month of starting the group classes, we saw major changes in our dog's behavior- he was more comfortable being left alone and starting to see his crate as a safe space. It has been a little under a month since our group class has ended and it is like we have a new dog. He is no longer reactive, he trusts us, he LIKES people (who would have thought), he puts himself to bed in a room that we aren't in whenever he is tired or needs a break from us, and he willingly goes into his crate. He also listens, follows instructions, and his is now a pleasure to take on hikes. None of these changes would have been possible without Karen training US on how to train him. After the basics training classes, we have continued with some private sessions to further advance our dog training skills and we couldn't be happier with the decision to give our dog a chance and enlist the help of Karen and PUPs obedience school to help him succeed. The trainers at pups are awesome. I've been training for over 30 years and whenever I need extra help or some out-of-the-box ideas to get my dog's to do something faster or better or correct ...I go to pups they are awesome they not only think out-of-the-box and know all types of training they know all types of breeds and how they operate. I don't think I've met people before that train as well as the ladies that pups More...

I brought a scared rescued pup in on the first week, and now 8 weeks later I have an unbreakable bond with my girl and a firm foundation of trust. Loved how they didn't just teach sit, down, stay. They established trust between the handler and the pup. Thanks guys! More...

My Aussiedoodle Otis and I did both the puppy bonding course with Kristen and the basic obedience class. I HIGHLY recommend them and the training. The puppy class (we started when he was 16 weeks) really helped shape my relationship with Otis in a positive way. We started the obedience class when he was about 5 months old and the class was great for him. I know PUPS works great for dogs with "issues", but it was great for my issue-free puppy. It was nice to know we were starting off on a positive footing with his behavior and my handling of him. Karen was very flexible when I needed to move to a different class because of work scheduling. It is clear that her primary goal is to get people and their dogs working well together. More...

Expensive training and poor communication/customer service. Tried to get my dog enrolled in a basic obedience class after adopting, and he had trouble focusing around the other dogs (which was one of my main goals enrolling in the class). There were 11 other dogs in my class, and after two classes we agreed it’d be better to do private sessions or try to enroll him in a smaller class. You must prepay and there is a strict no refund policy, and I’ve been trying to get in touch via phone and email to reschedule with no success. More...

At first, I'll be honest, I was a bit unsure about how I felt. I'd never done group training with any of my dogs before and didn't know what to expect. Once I voiced my insecurities to Karen & Kristin one night after class, I was completely at ease. These ladies are fabulous and Finnley will be back very soon to finish his obedience class! More...

Karen and Kristen are the best. They have a lot of experience with training dogs and really know how to bring out the best in both the owner and the dog.

Karen and Kristen have worked extensivley with me and my sometimes difficult dog. They have gone way above and beyond to make accommodations esp. when my dog was injured and had to take a long time off from training and we had to train differently due to some behavior issues post recovery. I have also enjoyed having rally classes available to learn something fun to do with my dog. They are always willing to answer training questions even after my dog graduated from their program.Highly recommend them!! We love them!! More...
