It is in an old house. Love the house and the decor inside. The server was very friendly. The menu had so many good choices, it was difficult to make a decision! I had the daily lunch special and the scallops were perfectly cooked so they melted in your mouth! Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. We will go back to try other choices. More...
Can't say enough great things about Private Property. My husband and I could not have picked a better place for Date Night. Food was Delicious and the Service was Great. Very friendly and hospitable. The Gumbo was sooo Good and the Pork chop was the Best Seasoned chop I have ever had. We can't wait to go back and try more dishes. More...

This place came highly recommended from my family members. I just had to make this a date night place with the most beautiful women in the world. The food was absolutely delicious. The service was awesome and the atmosphere was delightful. If you want a great meal worth EVERY penny then this is the place for you. More...
My favorite place to eat, went for my birthday this year. The alligator bites are delicious and their steak is amazing. The setting is very nice, inside and out. 10/10 would recommend
Really enjoyed the food we got here. We ordered takeout because we had a grumpy baby in tow. We waited for about 20 minutes longer than they said when the order would be ready, but the restaurant itself was a beautiful place to wait. We ordered a couple of appetizers; the Cajun eggrolls and the magic juju shrimp were delish. I had the shrimp and grits and it was 5/5. My husband got the big easy burger and he said it was a bit one-note; he wished there was more to it. My mother-in-law got the blackened pork chop (which is what they said made our wait longer) and she really enjoyed it with her side of fried cream corn.Overall, we really liked it. We will definitely be coming back for the food and also to eat IN the restaurant because it's a beautiful place. My husband will just order something different. More...

Son took me to lunch, it was great. First time there, loved it.
It’s just always great. Never had anything bad there. Service is great too.
Yelp to the rescue. We stopped in Lexington on our way to Myrtle Beach. No chains for us. We were traveling with two of our grandsons. I have to say the gator tail app caught my attention. My bride and grandkids have baby mouths. They were not up for the blackened and spicy foods. The chef was accommodating. The food was great. The pricing was fair and the service was excellent. The restaurant was was a converted old house. Neat. More...

Our dinner and food were enjoyed by all..We particularly appreciated the front private dinner room.

My brother-in-law lives in Lexington and took us here, the food was delicious, service was great. Look forward to another visit.
Delicious meal. I got the alligator for an appetizer and crawfish étouffée for the main course. We split an amazing bread pudding for dessert. I was highly pleased as was my diner date who ordered the pork chop that melted in your mouth and some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever have. Try this place you won't be disappointed. More...
The building it's self was charming, our waitress very pleasant and the food was fabulous. I only regret we live so far away!
The food and service is fantastic!! Best restaurant in Lexington!! Great steak! Great crawfish!! My favorite!!
Very nice setting in downtown Lexington. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. I was surprised to hear patrons speaking in many different languages all over, from Italian to French and German. This seems to be a hotspot for Europeans dining in Lexington SC! The food was very well prepared, but slightly over priced, hence my 4 stars. I do recommend dining at this establishment, but be prepared to bring about $150 per couple. Don't forget to tip at least 30% More...
Cool place with a great name. Very friendly friendly staff, with some great food. Had the cajun egg rolls and bayou bounty with side of fried corn. Egg rolls had some kind of sweet chili sauce. It was very good. Bayou bounty was very filling had to take the rest home but omg that fried corn was amazing. More...
I enjoyed a great meal here a few months ago. Nice restaurant with a cozy yet elegant vibe. The food was pricey but did not disappoint.
Lovely dinner.. our table had Red Fish and Pork Chops. Five star!! Don’t forget to order bread pudding
Great place!!! Great service!!! Great Food!!!
Had free time before my son's college baseball game in Newberry, SC. I found Private Property that had alligator. Arrived to find out that it is only served at dinner. Taylor was nice enough to ask the chef to make an exception and cook me up some gator. Well, I have had gator all over Louisiana from New Orleans to Shreveport. This was the "BEST" damn gator I have ever had, bar none!!!!!Well worth the drive. The service by Kayla was very nice and the owner even put some sports on the tv in the bar. Great hospitality. Which I could have rated higher than 5 stars. Which this place was closer the St Louis, Missouri. Thanks for a "GREAT" experience. I will be back for Alabama vs South Carolina football game in the family. I guess I need to make a reservation. Thanks again. John More...
We ate here for my daughters graduation dinner! Food was amazing and our server was the sweetest nicest personable server I have ever encountered! Food and service is quite good. The look of the building is what sells this place. It's amazing looking. But the "odd" happens when they bring out the bill. The bill has a total $49.11 and then below that has a section where it says Tip and its fill out with $0.09 and then below that a grand total of those number saying $49.20. They give the customer no place to tip the waitress?!? And we found out the charge of $0.09 is not a tip, it's the restaurants way of penalizing/charging the customer for using a Visa card instead of bringing $50.00 in their wallet. We tried to squeeze a $10 tip onto the bill where the $0.09 was written and changed the grand total to $59.20 in hopes they would give the waitress antip of 10 dollars. When we got home we noticed they where okay for charging us $0.09 but not willing to give their staff the $10.00 tip. :(. Sad to see a classy restaurant send out a bill where the customers can't tip the wait staff but more then willing to charge us for running a credit card. More...
Went here for something that was small yet flavorful and it certainly was. The She-Crab soup is excellent, with such a great flavor that really leaves an impression. All of the other items looked like if I had a bigger wallet and larger stomach I would have sampled everything. I had the Magic JuJu Shrimp and the Bayou Bounty, highly recommend both if you want flavors that pop in your mouth without overpowering any of the overall flavors. In terms of service, our waitress was very polite and prompt. She made sure to establish the meaning of blackened and what it meant for the style in which they cooked their food...(Cajun style). Overall it was an awesome experience from the time we walked in to when we got back in the car. More...

awesome food and service
Extremely friendly and competent staff. The Private Property hamburger was excellent. The ambiance is superb!
Excellent food, great variety, excellent service. Beautiful setting inside and out, quiet and relaxing atmosphere. Went there for lunch, can't wait to go back for dinner or brunch.
The etoufee was awesome! Not too spicy, and if you go here you HAVE to get the Louisiana Mud Pie!! Cute place and had a lot of charm.
Great food, excellent service, friendly staff. NO sign to identify the restaurant, so if you are not from the area, it is located in an old white house up on a hill...GPS will take you there! Just don't expect to see any signage! More...
I've wanted to visit Private Property for a long time now and I've heard great things about it. We finally got the chance to visit for a friend's birthday dinner. We arrived pretty early but also made reservations for 6:15pm. We waited just a few minutes before we were seated. The place was pretty emptied even though the parking lot was pretty packed. I ordered the Private Property burger with the side of fries. The burger was pretty big and it came with a large serving size of fries. Overall I would probably order the burger again but I also wanted to try a couple of their pasta dishes that looked good. I do wish that they had a few specials the night we went but when we were seated we were advised that they don't have specials on Fridays. More...
I am so impressed with this restaurant! Chrissy handled our large group efficiently and with grace and style. She took the time to go over the menu with us to ensure people ordered foods that would suite their taste. And wow did it all taste wonderful! First time I went here. I had a great dinner experience. The service, ambience, food presentation, and quality were excellent. This was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences of my life. Our party of 4 was greeted, seated, and served in very short order on a busy Saturday night. Our server Kayla was efficient & cordial. She interacted with us like a member of our family. Our appetizers included Ju Ju shrimp, Blackened alligator and She Crab soup. Our entrees were Seafood Jambalaya , Bayou Bounty, Blackened Ribeye steak and Shrimp & Grits. Dessert we had was Bread Pudding. All were excellent in every way and we highly recommend all of them. Tough choice which to have the next time we go here, which we definitely will. More...

Great food, great service!
Absolutely Fantastic. That is the only way to put it. The taste put into this beautiful restaurant, the professional and personable service, even on a busy day like Valentines day, and the food. Oh My GOD the food. We had the Mardi Gras pasta, and the Blackened Ribeye, with the Blackened Alligator appetizer, and it was FANTASTIC. Large portions for the food and so well made. Worth every penny we spent, and it isn't even that expensive. They could EASILY charge much more for the quality of food that they serve. If you go, the fried cream corn is an absolute must try. Easily the best i have ever had. This is definitely going to become a regular stop for us. Very impressed with the owner being so involved in the dining experience, so much so that she even personally was serving guests. She truly cares about the restaurant and it shows. More...

Fabulous Food!! My favorite Lexington restaurant...Love Private Property!!
I can’t say enough good about the food here. I have never had a better pork chop than the one I had last night. And, last time I was there I had one of their more traditional Cajun dishes. And, while it was good, it can’t hold a candle to that pork chop. The place is nice, the food wonderful, the staff friendly, and the drinks aren’t overpriced. More...

Amazing black and ribeye!
Excellent southern cajun experience! Passing through the area while visiting family in S.C., we spied this establishment on our Yelp app! Wendi seated us on arrival & was very attentive to our every want during dinner. My husband & I had the Gumbo & She-Crab soup - we couldn't agree which was better! Blackened Alligator followed (the sample of cajun Cole slaw? I wanted a plate of just that!!) - it came out just as we finished our spup... so great! We ordered Crawfish Etofee & Shrimp/Grits (my favorite since I was a little girl) - both were amazing! We could barely eat half & look forward to our lunch leftovers tomorrow! Louisiana Mud Pie & Vanulla Ice Cream was enjoyed with the last of our lovely Pinot Noir. Living near Napa/Sonoma, we can attest to the selection of wine & bottle prices tonight! We're headed back to a warm cabin, to tell all of our family who still live here...so envious this isn't near our California home! Enjoy the holiday season with our new friends at The Private Property 《thank you again, Wendi :) } More...

Private Property has wonderful food, service and the atmosphere is great. My problem with this restaurant is that they try to put too many people into too little space and it can get loud and ruin this same "atmosphere." It's also very expensive for what they do. I have another word for this but..... Still, Private Property can be a great dining experience. The bar does a good job on the drinks depending on how rushed they are. Don't go and expect to just sit at the bar! To me, this is a once in a great while type of place. But, don't go to Lexington and not try them! More...

We had a wonderful dining experience last night at Private Property. The weather was perfect to be on the patio and take in the soft lighting and autumn colors of the surrounding trees. This was a very nice evening out for our family. Most of the wait staff was very friendly, and our personal waitress was very sweet and informative. The food was top notch and bountiful! Worth the prices, which we found quite reasonable. Restaurant and bathroom facilities were very clean. Good atmosphere and comfortable seating .We went again on Monday and again the food was amazing. We have not yet had a dish that we have not liked. They did say it is not very back of the restaurant room there selves which was very nice and comfortable but I think it was kind of far for the waitress have to go. Very enjoyable day. Joy about food. Flights staff can't say enough good things. More...
One of the Beat Restaurants in town! Have been here twice and absolutely enjoy the food! It is a bit pricey but so worth it. The Kitchen can be a little slow. I just tell myself “they’re just cooking it right.” I highly recommend the 16oz Ribeye, Creamed Style corn & a Salad. Also, the Gator makes for a great appetizer. I see the FEW negative reviews on here and just shake my head. Guess you just can’t please everyone all the time. Looks like they do please the majority. Set some time aside and give it a try! Great atmosphere. Shrimp and grits are to die for. ❤️
Best Louisiana food outside of the State of Louisiana. Makes Louisianians feel like home.
My husband surprised me by taking me here for my birthday because he knows I love Cajun food. This place did not disappoint! We got the pecan crusted pimento cheese appetizer, I had the blackened red fish and he had a blackened steak. Everything was delicious, including an intriguing side of fried creamed corn. The only thing they need to work on is their dessert menu which is uninspired since there are so many great New Orleans style desserts that they could do. I definitely plan to return, again, and try some more items from the menu. More...

I have been there many times since I moved to Columbia SC in 2015. This is my favorite restaurant in the area, and everything on their menu is great. However, somehow they stopped taking reservations. Both from OpenTable and their website. This really bothers me since I have to drive about 40 minutes to the restaurant. And they are pretty busy all the time.So I have been there much less than before. Hope they could bring the reservation system back. More...

Great food! Cajun done right! Funky but tasty menu, would have given 5 stars if we hadn't have waited so long for our food. When we left a family at an adjacent table had waited even longer... and they still hadn't been served. Great place to go tho if you're not in a hurry. I was skeptical about the pimento cheese on the burger but the burger was really good. The shrimp and grits was amazing... the sauce they use is just heavenly. I also had a martini. It was light on liquor but very yummy. The prices were pretty good. We will be back! More...

If you've ever been to New Orleans and miss the food, you can eat the jambalaya here and close your eyes and you'll feel like you're back in New Orleans. The restaurant is very welcoming and warm inside and if it's a pretty day, don't miss out on the outside courtyard dining to further your dream of being in New Orleans. I keep telling myself I'm going to get the steak one night as it looks fabulous but each time I can't resist the jambalaya. I highly recommend it. Meal was amazing. Everyone was impressed. Alligator was spot on
This place is a little pricy for the amount of food you get with each meal in my opinion, but outside of that I would recommend. Run out of an old renovated house that gives it an old southern charm feel. They serve a variety of southern food with a core of Cajun. Make a mean cocktail and the steak for dinner is very good. Lunch meals are a bit smaller and easier on the wallet but still very tasty. More...

Amazing food and drinks! Excellent customer service. Extremely accommodating. We really enjoyed our first visit! We will certainly be back again!
Private Property is a wonderful restaurant. Have never had a meal that was not exceptional.
Fun friendly service in a cool building. We've had a great meal every time we've been to Private Property. Recommended!!
The crab cakes, magic juju shrimp, seafood jambalaya and crawfish etoufee were all delicious. It happened to be take out, was all hot and the servings were large. We will definitely make a point to return. More...

My wife and I went here on Friday night. My first visit was for lunch and I wanted to try their dinner menu. We called on the way to see if we needed reservations and they had a tall table available for us when we got there. We were seated in a nice room with a fireplace that had three other tables in the room. Great atmosphere and ambience. Our waiter immediately took our order for a wine and Southern Comfort Old fashioned and an appetizer of the fried pecan crusted pimiento cheese. It was spectacular! It was coated in a mixture of crushed pecans and breadcrumbs and fried in a pan. Served with small crostini bread and topped with a nice cajun sauce.I was planning on ordering the She Crab soup once again (from my lunch visit) but after seeing the highly special of Blackened Red Fish topped with shrimp and crawfish with a cajun tasso sauce, green beans and mashed potatoes, I changed my mind. My wife ordered the Shrimp Creole. My wife's Shrimp Creole was excellent. The shrimp were large and done perfectly and the dish had a nice bite to it. My Red Fish dish was one of the best, if not the best, that I've ever had. What amazed me were the green beans and the potatoes. The green beans were cooked perfectly and apparently they are cooked with a special sauce or something on them that gave them a really good taste. I couldn't figure out what was on them but we both thought they were great. Not to al dente, but done just perfectly. The mashed potatoes were also different, not your usual creamy, milky mashed potatoes but very flavorful. The combination of the fish, shrimp, crawfish and sauce really made the dish stand out. I would order it again anytime. My wife claimed me as the winner for the best dish. Price of the special was $27.95. The Shrimp Creole was $14.95. I'll mark this as $$, depending on what you order. A nice dinner with the specials would run into the $$$ range. Their other specials for the evening were a 8 oz Filet or 12 oz blackened ribeye, both in the upper $27-$30 range.Catherine, our waitress, was great. Very attentive and kept coming back to check on our water and drinks. Her recommendation and knowledge of the food was also to be commended. My wife said this is one of her favorite restaurants in the area. We will be returning! More...
Very nice setting and excellent food. Definitely will return!
Been here twice now. So glad it's close to me and I hope there will be more restaurants like this in the area! Love the atmosphere. Prices good. Delish food and drinks. My only beef is that there aren't more options on the menu. There are a lot of Cajun options but I wish there were more. I've had shrimp n grits - DELISH. Gator app, good. Crab cakes-sooo good. I've loved everything! It's a mainstay. More...
Food is fantastic, a great bartender who make fantastic drinks, and an outside patio area. Hands down this is by far my favorite place in Lexington!
Awesome cajun food! The shrimp creole... wow.

What a great experience, great food and service.. thank you
The food and service at this place is amazing. We sat outside and the staff made sure to continue coming out to check on us and to keep our glasses topped with wine. Very good food. Thursday lunch was a little slow being seated. But, once seated everything flowed.
Excellent food and atmosphere. Shrimp and grits were phenomenal.
We love the atmosphere & selection. The food is always fresh & service has been wonderful every time we've gone.
I really love the location of this restaurant. It's an old house that's been converted. Beautiful place. Also a really nice bar area even though it's a little small. We've been here numerous times now. My first visit, Id have probably given them 5 stars. But now that we've been more, I can only give them 4 stars. We tried last week to get reservations earlier. The earliest we could get was 8:30. I definitely do not recommend 8:30 reservations. We felt rushed. Also we were the only people in the restaurant that couldn't get mashed potatoes. Apparently they had a take out order that wiped them out. I'm a potato lover, so I was very depressed. Not fun watching every other table getting potatoes. I wanted to scream "NOT FAIR!!!!" I was so jealous. Lol. Anyway they have a good martini selection, beer and liquor selection. It's a nice place and I'm glad I now know about it. We will be back.... but I will place my mashed potato order before I go. More...

The atmosphere was Attractive and the waitresses were extra nice! All around Great Experience! Will definitely go back!
This is my new favorite restaurant. I am pretty sure the location used to be called the Magnolia house and it is a beautiful white house with a large outdoor patio in the back with a stage (I'm guessing for bands in the summer or wedding receptions?) and a smaller patio by the main entrance. The food was even better than the atmosphere though... we ordered the fried pimento cheese which was out of this world. Crunchy and melty cheese with toast that the chef cooks on the grill. The she crab soup was the best I've ever had. Very fresh and more crab than cream. The burger was also delicious and the Caesar salad that we got with it wasn't bad. The ribeye though was the BEST steak I have ever had!!! I'm not joking... they blacken it and cook it in a skillet. Unbelievable flavor and juiciness. I can't wait to go back!!!! More...
Amazing! Seriously delicious food, the staff was exceptional and I can't wait to visit again.
Absolutely excellent decor and ambiance. The hostess was lovely (Kristy) and knew the menu off the top of her head; made some nice recommendations. I had the havarti cheese burger with mixed meat. Wonderful service and delicious food. Warm inviting atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Hmmm not sure why I kept driving by this beautiful historic home, never again....Let me start off by saying, get a reservation for this Charleston feel cozy spot!! We loved everything about this place, from the front to the back service door. When we walked in it felt as if I just stepped back in time in a special way. Im a Mixologist Stalker so every meal has to be planned with research, so I can have a tasty drank with my meal, hence the 5* rating! The Jambalaya shrimp and the shrimp pasta meal were on point, mouth watery and creamy. Hubs loved the huge servings and taste of course. The server was on point, tentative at all times, bathrooms clean, and we were greeted upon arriving and leaving. This is very important to me that a business owner picks his/ her staff to compliment them. YASSSS we will B back and I will bringing friends/ family when they come in town. Jus go, plenty of parking.... More...
This was a really good evening! We like old homes so the environment was good for us. Quiet and comfortable for a courses meal. We started with the egg roll.... loved it! Unusual and crispy and hot! Nice sauce. Kind of pushed our limits for heat! She tried the steak tacos for entree but the slaw was way hot for her! Fries were yummy though. I grew up eating from cast iron and like cooking with it when camping. They apparently use it as one page of the menu was from the cast iron. I opted for redfish from the cast iron blackened (as most items were). I liked it a lot! The grits were even better. Side of the slaw was to put the heat out but it did the opposite. Spicy! Really cold though which is my preference so I couldn't stop eating it. Overall high marks from us. You should go there but be cautioned, its on the spicy side for wimps like us. Go eat! More...
I was very pleased with my meal here. I love Cajun food when it's done right but it's actually really hard to find restaurants that do it right, even in the south. I've had too many experiences with shelling out a lot of money for Cajun food that tastes like it came from a Zattaran's box so I always keep my expectations in check when I visit a new Cajun place. Thankfully, my low expectations were far exceeded at Private Property! Right off the bat, this restaurant got points from me for having a seafood free jambalaya. I love jambalaya but I'm allergic to shrimp and many places don't have a seafood free version of this dish. For any other allergy sufferers: the seafood free jambalaya isn't actually written on the menu but they will make it for you if you ask. The jambalaya is very flavorful. Usually I put Tabasco sauce on my jambalaya and was initially disappointed when they told me they don't have Tabasco but thankfully, the dish was well spiced enough as is to almost make me not miss it. The andouille sausage and chicken were fresh tasting and cooked perfectly. The portion was also huge and lasted me for two meals. Private Property is in an area of Lexington that is mostly filled with fast food and chain restaurants and it's great to see a quality restaurant open instead of yet another Ruby Tuesday. The price is reasonable, especially considering the huge portions, and you won't find better Cajun food anywhere else in the Columbia area.my only suggestion to the management is to get some Tabasco sauce instead of weak Texas Pete! What can I say, I'm a stickler for my hot sauces! More...
Fabulous! Best she crab soup ever! Everything we ordered was wonderful including the bread pudding! Creative drinks and ambiance and service!
An outstanding meal for pre-Christmas dinner. I was all set mentally to not order the ribeye I always order so that I could sample some other items on the dinner menu. That plan went out the window when a waitress passed us as we were being seated carrying one of those 16 oz cast iron seared beauties. Plan B. Got Precious to order the steak to share while I ordered the blackened redfish special. SD1 ordered shrimp and grits. I got 3 for 1! Let me say I'll put the blackened cast iron skillet seared ribeye against the finest ribeye I've had at the high end steak houses in Charleston at half the price. The redfish was sublime and had the same Cajun Tasso cream sauce as the shrimp and grits. Blackened but balanced nicely with that cream sauce. The green beans sautéed in butter and garlic topped everything off. Paired beautifully with a $36 bottle of Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon. Great meal. More...
The filet was delicious! We will be eating at Private Property again.
Great food. Nice folks. Reasonable prices. I'd go back anytime.

All I can say is if you haven't tried this place, your are missing out. My wife and I shared the Cajun egg rolls, shecrab soup, crab cakes and swamp taco's. And it was all awesome and our waitress was on her game. Will definitely go back. More...
Wonderful dinner experience. Very creole style cooking which was very delicious, which was also helped by the great ambiance of the restaurant...
Had a wonderful lunch and got to experience some amazing food - the chefs use inspiration from New Orleans and some iconic culinary masters using wonderful local ingredients- a must if you are local or find yourself in this part of the south.
Had the jambalaya and gumbo appetizer. Was delicious and I will definitely be back and recommend it for anyone who likes authentic Cajun cuisine.
Excellent food. We had the blackened red fish, shrimp and grits, cajun greenbeans and cajun cokeslaw. Great service. We will be back.

The ambiance was as phenomenal as the food and service! They accommodated our party of eight and our food was served very quickly!
Have yet to get a bad meal! One of my favorite places to eat at when I'm on town.
Nice place, situated in what looks like a private house. I had jambalaya. others in our group ordered different dishes. Everyone seemed to like what they got, wait time for order to arrive was manageable. The only thing seriously ruining that evening was ice cold AC from floor vents. Apparently HVAC in the restaurant isn't zoned, so there is no way to adjust temp in each individual room. Staff/waitress had to cover vents when we complained.. More...

Absolutely the best food, service and atmosphere in Lexington. My husband and I eat there on special occasions. I just had the best fillet Mignon that I have ever had! All the food is fabulous my suggestion is get something different each visit , you'll want to try everything! More...
So, what can I say about this place? Let's start with the cozy, intimate atmosphere... it's a house that has been remodeled as a restaurant which is super neat! My husband and I had a dinner reservation (thanks to my wonderful sister-in-law) and our table overlooked the beautiful backyard patio. We ordered our drinks and started with the crab cakes appetizer. When that came out, we looked at each other like "this better be worth $6.50 each" haha! As soon as I took my first bite, I can honestly say that was definitely one of the most unforgettable crab cakes I have tasted in my life! (The other crab cake was in Baltimore, MD) DEEEE-LISH! As per our entrées, I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband ordered the ribeye with grits and green beans. Both meals were prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being the best) I give the filet on texture and flavor a 10. Rarely do I ever taste a steak that melts in my mouth and reminds me of the best steak I've ever had the pleasure of eating in NYC at Peter Luger Steakhouse, but this one was definitely one of those! Along with the great service, this place is high on my list of favorites and we both definitely plan on coming back again soon! More...
The filet is AMAZING!!!! CRAWFISH is great... Highly recommend

I love this place! The steaks are the best I have ever had and the grits are perfect. We have needed a good restaurant in for a long time (way too much fast food in Lexington) but private property is a diamond in the rough. If I had to add anything I would say a few large salad options. More...

Best shrimp and grits ever! Great service and fantastic atmosphere !
I got a first say I was impressed with the building that this restaurant is in. It is not a new modern building but it is an older building that has been fixed up and looks absolutely amazing inside. The food was delicious I had the alligator tenderloin appetizer, and my fiance had the Crawfish St. Charles. For an appetizer we had the fried pimento cheese. That is probably by far the best pimento cheese I have ever had. The food came out quickly and the staff was extremely nice. We will definitely be coming back to this place. If anything I'll come back just for the alligator. This place is definitely a must stop for any foodie. More...

We went there for dinner. The jambalaya was superb as was the penne pasta with shrimp. When traveling we look to te review sites for ideas. After checking them outvwe decided to give Private Property a go. We tried to get a 6:30 or 7 pm booking in waiter Johnnys section ( this waiter was mentioned several) but couldnt get in until 8. It was july 3 a busy time.. Had some difficulty finding due to little to no signage outside. Greated/seated by the hostess who was very nice. Surprised to see the place was less than half full when we couldnt be seated earlier. Our friendly waiter Johnny attended to our party of 4 quickly answering questions and making meal/wine selections. I have to say the appetizers and all our our meals were delicious. Among us we ordered Shrimp and grits, prime ribeye and 2 ordered blackened fish. The appetizer shrimp was fantastic. Our waiter Johnny was awesome as well answering questions about the history of the home where PP is located and the local area making our dining experience a great one! More...

I had Gator tacos and rosemary gin fizz. Seems strange, but a delicious combo. Finally got to try them out after hearing lots of great stuff from our Friends, and to be honest their praises didn't come close to how good it was! The food was amazing! We had the fried pimento and cheese app, I had the crawfish St. Charles (excellent), and the wife had shrimp and grits ( probably the best we ever tasted). The staff were great as well! I have never been disappointed! Every time we come to eat wether early afternoon, late night, winter, summer, seriously everything is always great! This is real food, not premade and dropped in the fryer or microwave, but REAL FOOD. That is what happens when you have a family run establishment that cares about their customers!! More...
Had the ribeye very delicious with a very knowledgeable server. A must visit.
I've only been there once, so the review is of this one experience. We started the meal with she crab soup. Full of real crab, a hint of sherry, etc. The best I've had, including what I've tasted in Charleston. I had the blackened redfish, and my companion had the crawfish etouffee. The waitress said the chef spent time learning from Paul Prudhomme, and used his recipes. It showed. So many times blackened fish is just something baked with seasoning in it, only mildly, and timidly, spiced. This was great, as was my dining companion's crawfish. As was the bread pudding made on the premises. If the rest of the menu is as good as this, I say go now before word gets out about this place and you'll have to reserve weeks in advance. Yes, based on one meal, it's that good. More...
This is a delightful dining experience. You must have the pimento cheese appetizer. Thank you for such delectable food!
I've been wanting to go to Private Property since finding out this was an actual restaurant. I remember driving past it for weeks to months, wondering what the white house with the neon Open sign was. Eventually we figured it out, and my wife had made a few trips for lunch. I absolutely love seafood, and creole food, and have been dying to try this.Unfortunately a few weeks ago we opted for Lost Cajun on 378 instead. I wasn't impressed. Tonight we had time for dinner while the kids attended a church event.I'm not going to go through a step by step of our experience. What you need to know from me is simple. I have eaten at some fine establishments. The Oceanaire Room in Washington, DC (and charlotte, once), peninsula grill in Charleston and dozens of others there of high quality (not typical tourist traps), new York city landmarks, the finest and freshest seafood restaurants in Florida and the keys.....Tonight I got the fried oyster jambalaya. It may in fact be one of the best meals I've ever eaten. The oysters were better than any I've ever had. The sheer quantity of oysters, shrimp and sausage left me so full, and so happy with my choice. My wife only got she crab soup. Again, maybe the best I've ever tasted. I have uploaded a picture of my dinner here. I have a healthy appetite and rarely get full. This meal filled me up. All I can say is, this is my first review of a restaurant for yelp.. after being a member for a long time. But this place deserves a good review. My suggestion to the owners, put a sign on the street, on that big white wood placard!!! It's so hard to know you're even there, or that the name doesn't signify a private club. If you've never been here, go. Simply amazing. More...
Private Property 12/07/15 I visited Private Property last night and once again was absolutely delighted with the flavorful and well-prepared cuisine that I experienced. Owner/Exec Chef Trip trained under the late Chef Paul Prudhomne in New Orleans. Chef brings to the table those traditional Creole and Cajun favors and techniques with a nouvelle flare and simple mastery. Here's some notes from last night's dinner... Crispy Duck Wings with Tasso sauce --Light sauce, slight heat --Wings perfectly prepared and very tender. --Skin crispy; not greasy --Perfect starter Mushroom cheese ravioli with shredded blacken chicken --Mushroom ravioli earthy, sweet, balanced with tender slightly spicy blackened chicken pieces. --Simple and tasty Blacken Beef filet mignon, with spicy cheese potatoes and sautéed green beans --Perfect char on the steak and not overly spiced; pure flavor --Spice on the potatoes perfectly compliments the char of the steak; cheese is slightly salty balancing the dish --String beans perfectly cooked with a slight texture; lightly salted; clean flavors Took pics; too bad since the presentations were beautiful. Hard to find no sign on the main road . Passed it several times but was definitely worth pursuing. Was voted best restaurant in South Carolina last year and it is superb. I had the Mardi Gras Pasta for dinner and the fried pecan crusted pimento cheese. Both were delicious. My mom had the jambalaya and she loved it.
Dined here on Saturday night with a group of 6.First of all, this place is SO cute! It reminded me of Charleston because it is an old house that has been flipped into a restaurant. There are multiple private dining areas, big and small, as well as a small private bar.We were sat right away in the back room by the window. We ordered drinks; I got one of the special martinis that was really good! To eat I ordered the Seafood Jambalaya that came with andouille and shrimp over a bed of rice, it was spicy and fantastic! For my first jambalaya experience I'd say they hit it out of the park. The rice was creamy, there was plenty of vegetables and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits which were also delicious, the tasso cream sauce was different than any tasso sauce I've had, it was divine. The grits were incredibly creamy and so yummy. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals and I cannot wait to go back! I don't know if the back was open when we went but we would love to sit out there! More...

Perfect Patio weather tonight. Food, Drinks and service were phenomenal. Think the might be my favorite place in Lexington!
We've been looking for a local place to bring visiting out of town guests. This is the place. Excellent food, great customer service, and a perfect location for a special lunch or dinner.
Beautiful and charming inside and out! We had the shrimp and grits, which were the best I've ever had, and the shrimp po boy, which was good, but not as good as the shrimp and grits!
Had the crab cakes as a lunch special. Plenty of crab and the sauce was really spicy but very good. Fortunately the sauce was served on the side. Restaurant has a different layout due to the nature of the building. The service was excellent. More...

Finally, good creole food in the Midlands! Reasonably priced and a place I have already recommended to several folks.
We found this place while searching for Cajun food in the area. Our meal was fabulous. My boyfriend had the jambalaya and I had the Mardi Gras pasta. We also had the crab cakes for our appetizer. Everything from the ambiance, food, and server was top notch. Can't wait to go back! More...
Food this good often evokes a kind of hyper-critical mentality, where reviewers resolve to find a flaw with anything in the preparation or presentation to impress upon other Yelpers what an extraordinary amount of culinary erudition they possess. STFU and eat this food. You'll be glad you did. In total, we had the fried pimento cheese with crushed pecans (so savory and tasty, spread upon the most delicately buttered & toasted Leidenheimer bread)spare ribs (very peppery, maybe a little overcooked but good) crawfish etouffée (delightfully spicy)seafood gumbo (over rice, one bite and it was bliss, but I had to take this home), Cajun egg roll (a gift from another table- delightful and also taken home)Seafood Jambalaya (with Andouille sausage and shrimp, running out of superlatives)bread pudding (no raisins, nice texture, not too sweet, gorgeous glaze) pralines again, not overly sweet. However, the star of the evening for me was the shrimp and grits. I've never had grits like this and the shrimp/sausage combination was so sublime, I wish to be buried in it (in them?) and eat my way out...thrice, at least. I risk public shame and ridicule because, of all things, I chose the most humble menu item to extol. I would gladly die a martyr proclaiming the Gospel of these grits. The service was personable and the bill surprisingly modest. Unless you have a personal chef that cooks for Martha Stewart or can only consume 700 calories a day, get over here before there's a monthly waiting list and the Food Channel has the road blocked off. We're new to the area and were driving around when we found this place. Wonderful decor. I had the voodoo burger which had a great combination of peppers. Service was a bit slow, but overall a pleasant experience. More...
Very, very good. One of the best places we have found in SC. Highly recommended.
A beautiful patio with delicious food. If the weather is nice, the outdoor patio is an amazing place to enjoy the dinner and time with friends. Easily the best restaurant in Lexington right now. More...

It's so nice to have an original restaurant in Lexington. The food is amazing, especially the fried pimento cheese appetizer. Everything we've ever had was delicious. Wonderful family atmosphere and beautiful decor. More...
Had the crawfish St. Charles and it was really good. Had the BBQ shrimp appetizer and loved it. Very messy but tasty. The atmosphere is really nice too. Definitely a great find.
I believe this was one of my favorite meals ever. We had a couple of Hurricanes which were great. A little strong for me, but I don't believe anyone else would probably complain about that. Started with the Cajun Popcorn, which is fried crawfish tails. So very tender and full of flavor. My entree was the Oyster Jambalaya. OMG. Fried oysters on top of sausage and shrimp jambalaya. Good Lord was it good. And such a generous amount, I brought plenty home for lunch. My date had a cajun spiced steak. I had a few bites of it and it actually melted in my mouth. Our waiter was the best. He was a cutie that was full of personality. We sat outside in the backyard. They have lights strung overhead and it was just a beautiful atmosphere. It actually felt like I was back in New Orleans in a little courtyard. We had quite a wait, so a reservation is best. Enjoy!!********Additional Note: I will add that the hostess told us that since we did not have a reservation that it would be an hour or more until we could even be seated, if at all. Seemed like she was trying to get us to leave. I'm glad we didn't do that! It was nowhere near that length of time. More...

Tonight was our first visit to Private Property and it was awesome. Started with an avocadotini and swamp tacos, both were delicious. Hubby had shrimp and grits and I dined on crawfish pasta, and we ended with a heaping serving of bread pudding. All was excellent and we are already planning our next visit. Thank you for bringing something new to the Lex/Cola vibe. More...
Having lived in Louisiana for some time in my life, I was SO excited to find a restaurant with imported food straight New Orleans and true cajun cooking. The restaurant had a surprising elegant atmosphere, while remaining casual and not uptight. Think tablecloths, old renovated home turned restaurant, and backyard patio with string lighting across it. The service was friendly, informative, and quick. The food was truly spicy to my standards, something I rarely ever find, which I really appreciated. I wish I lived near here, as I would definitely eat here regularly since Louisiana is so far away! More...
Private Property is one of the best local restaurants in the Lexington area. I have dined there 3 times. I even had my birthday dinner there! The owner was very accommodating for my birthday dinner. He even offered to create a custom menu for my dinner. The gator bites are delicious as well as the pasta dishes. Highly recommend this restaurant. Is it like being in NOLA? No, but the food will blow you away. Delicious. More...
