I recently ordered flowers for a beach wedding for my son and his wife. I worked with Kathy and my intent was to achieve an authentic, Hawaiian tradition wedding. I ordered a tropical flower hand-held bouquet for the bride, a haku lei (traditional Hawaiian wedding headpiece) for the bride, two micro ginger leis for the mothers, a maile lei for the groom, and kakui nut leis for the men at the ceremony. These flowers were absolutely gorgeous and priced very reasonably. I ordered over the phone from the mainland and Picket Fence was a joy to work with. I would HIGHLY recommend this florist for any of your floral needs while visiting Kailua in Hawaii. The Best!! If you are ever in Hawaii and want absolutely fresh leis unlike the common ones from Foodland or Times Supermarkets come here FIRST. This business has been here for over 20 years same location. I have been to them many times over the years. I went to them for my own High School graduation many years ago and they still do right by me, mahalo . They treat you well (like family) not a number trying to earn business and hustle you out the door to serve the next guest. They have excellent customer service and take pride in their work. My all time favorite people!! Yesterday I went in to get a lei that I needed shipped overnight to Bend, Oregon. They were so helpful and the lei I bought was beautiful. I absolutely loved my wedding flowers and the cost was much less than nearby florists. They were tropical and exactly what I had envisioned. The bridesmaid bouquet was a lighter pink then I had expected but it looked better than what I actually wanted against my bridesmaids dress so it worked out nicely. The team even went out their way and was able to get the pineapple boutonnieres I requested. I highly recommend them, the photos on their Instagram and website does not Justice to the work they do. I ordered several lei, a tropical arrangement, and 2 bags of rose petals for a wedding. There were a couple items I wanted (pikake lei and micronesian ginger lei) that would not be available for pickup on Monday morning, since the store is closed on Sundays and their flower shipment does not arrive until Monday afternoon. They can make custom haku lei but you can only specify the color, not particular flowers, so I ended up ordering some items from picket fence and some from another store. I had 3 errands to run and limited time. I stopped into Picket Fence Florist after dropping off a box at the nearby UPS Store. As soon as I entered the cool air in the shop, I was asked, "What can we help you with today?" The customer service is first rate. The woman who helped me suggested a lei for my mom and a lei for my daughter, both ready to go in about 5 minutes, with the addition of a ribbon to each. Called the day before for a few lei and bouquets for an impromptu vow renewal and the ladies here were willing to help sort the details of all we ordered. They were patient enough to go back a fourth with myself and the bride on color, size and the details of each item. We were even able to get a pikake comb for the bride's hair. The pikake arrangements were beautiful and smelled heavenly. The ceremony was beautifully highlighted by the fragrance and beauty of all the lei and arrangements. I organised a destination wedding from San Diego in Oahu and worked with Sadie via email to work out the cut flowers I'd need to make my own bouquet and table arrangements. Sadie was communicative, efficient and overall lovely to work with. The majority of flowers I received were very fresh and exactly as I ordered. What can I write to explain the emotion that I feel inside. Pure delight with my delivery and the thoughtfulness that went into making this orchid arrangement. Once again Picket Fence came through with a short time line. I had 3 orchid leis sent to retiring colleagues on the east coast. My bad that I called them 3 days before. Picket Fence did not have them in the house. They went the extra mile, called the grower and had them send it that day.They were beautiful and arrived on time. I have walked in yesterday and I was hoping to order several leis and a head piece (haku lei) for our wedding that is only 3 days away. I know, I left it to the last minute... We have a small wedding on the beach and limited budget. They were extremely helpful, made several calls, pulled a few favors AND today (only one day later), I was able to pick up an exquisite haku and three beautiful leis, very reasonably priced and absolutely breathtaking. I have been to a few weddings, and more often than not, flowers were the "complicated" part. I cannot praise these ladies enough, my experience w this flower-shop was way above expectations! I just wanted to write about the great customer service I received today at the Picket Fence. I arrived just as the store was closing. ..I was totally bummed. The owner saw me and decided to reopen - just for me - she sacrificed her own time to allow me to purchase 3 lei, helping me and being super friendly the whole time. We talked about family, Kailua, her 40 years running the business, and the importance of serving the customer - always.
