.  Not going to lie, despite the high and near perfect reviews we tried to avoid this place because who wants to eat pizza/pasta/ Italian fare in Hawaii? ! ‍We were staying in princeville and basically nice, GOOD dinners are pretty scarce up in the north shore so we decided to give this place a try on our last night. Plus the kids really wanted a menu they were familiar with and Piazza's menu gave them that. We had the Caesar with Anchovies- so good! Pizza: half sausage pepperoni/ half cheese- kids devoured it!My husband had the lamb chops- he said one of the best he's had even comparable to the nicer restaurants in the mainland.Also ordered the spaghetti Bolognese- they make their pasta in house so that was perfect. And I had the shrimp scampi and it was so yummy. Only sad thing was they were out of the tiramisu but I always see that as a good sign bc they make everything in house. Portions are big so we regretted it eating here earlier bc we could have enjoyed our left overs days later. Price for the fare is good. Great pizza and friendly staff. We had pizza and sat at the pizza bar and watched them make an insane amount of pizzas. Besides pizza they do a lot of other dishes that looked amazing as they came out. It was busy the whole time we were there so expect some wait to be seated. I highly recommend Piazza! My entire family loved their meals. Definitely listen to the specials too because they are also delicious. I got the squid ink seafood pasta special and it was amazing! Wow! Loved our experience here. It was my birthday and we originally wanted to go to another restaurant but couldn't get a reservation. Called here and the lady Dia said they wouldn't take reservations for parties under 6. We went around 7:50pm and were told wait is around 40 mins but we were buzzed in much earlier! Entered this beautiful farmhouse chic decorated restaurant with open berths and we sat down very close to the famous pizza oven. The concierge was the same lady who spoke to me over phone and our waitress was a delight! I got the Sophia Loren and hubby a whiskey sour both our drinks were top notch. We ordered the calamari and felt the freshness was akin to catch that evening! Super yumm. Ordered the kids marinara pasta and the portion was so huge we ate them leftovers as breakfast next morning. Again freshness of ingredients and purity of technique were impressive. I ordered the spinach lasagna mmmm so delicious without it being too cheese loaded! Again everything super fresh and made from scratch. Hubby ordered the lamb chops and liked how they had fried polenta instead of regular.For dessert, we went with the popular choice of tiramisu and omg! Again very good!! I honestly wasn't in the mood for a heavy Italian meal, but my husband was, and so I obliged him. I was very pleasantly surprised by our meal! The menu is unique; while you can order more traditional dishes, there are lots of fun variations. My husband had a pizza special with pineapple sauce, prosciutto and Parmesan. It was delicious! This place is a different vibe than what I would expect in Hawaii. We are from Los Angeles and it felt more like an LA restaurant than a Hawaiian one. We stayed in Princeville though and it seemed like a good option. Food was very tasty and came out fairly quickly even though they were very busy. We just finished another great meal at Piazza. Our shrimp scampi (not quite traditional, but very delicious!), mushroom ravioli and mushroom pizza were all delightful. Out fried calamari was a bit chewy, but usually it is not. Our waitress was charming and we sat at the kitchen bar to watch the staff cook everything from scratch. Go here if you're that one picky eater/vegan/super health concerns. Standard Hawaii pricing, but you get what you pay for. When looking for vegan options and carnivore options for my bf, it was a bit of a struggle, but Piazza was so accommodating. They have gluten-free crust and vegan cheese without charge, and everything they use is super fresh and not drenched in oil. Their service was impeccable and everyone was so friendly. Lunch here yesterday. Convenient to the Princeville Resort.Surprisingly tasty pizza! Wow. Rich sauce, cheesy, spicy sausage and soft peppers really add flavor. Topped with freshly grated parm. Caesar salad was made with fresh local lettuce and anchovies, strips of parm, lightly dressed with homemade croutons. Lovely.Wine prices by the glass are very reasonable ($10). Came here for lunch and I have to say the pizza was great and customer service was good too. My only minor grip would be the amount of time the "adult beverages" take for them to come out but once you get the drink you don't mind because it's so good. The mule drink is a major must!!! The pizza is on point, the calamari is great too. The ahí salad would pass because I didn't like the flavor. I'm not a picky person and and will eat almost anything but this was seasoned with something that my pallet didn't care for. Not their fault but my tastebuds didn't like it. They were SUPER kind enough not to charge me for it. I didn't even ask since it's not the fault of the chef I didn't the seasoning of their ahi and salad. But they went above and beyond when they did that. Children friendly and great decor and vibe. They lose a star because their lunch menu is so limited and would have been nice to be able to eat off the full menu and because they don't have smaller pizza sizes for kids. We arrived about 1 hour before they closed. The hostess was a little dazed and confused about seating patrons in the order they arrived. The waiter was super friendly. The waitress at the table behind us told the table about the "specials" but when we asked our waiter, he said there were none. We decided we wanted pizza for dinner. We arrived, the outside is barn like almost. Open then door and it's beautiful! The bar, and the chef seating are awesome. Very good restaurant; our family really liked it!   Was torn between giving it 4 or 5 stars however the food prices are a little too high to give it 5 stars, as many other Yelp reviewers have noted.   Our serving person, Stephanie, was 5 stars!   The service was excellent!     The cocktails were quite nice and fairly priced!   (5 stars here too).    I was bummed however at being charged $3 for a second "very small" bread baguette.   We are from LA and use to high prices, however the food prices should be "tweaked."    $33 for a medium sized mushroom/sausage pizza shouldn't cost over $30.   Interesting to note a continuing theme among Yelp reviewers on pricing.   I'm sure this is keeping restaurant from reaching its potential.  Owners, please note as Yelp reviewers are very knowledgeable! Good food, great ambience! It's a proper date-night or let's-go-someplace-fancy type restaurant. True to that, the menu items are heavily overpriced. As a vegetarian though, this restaurant was a good option in Princeville since it's open late. I had the vegetarian tomato and pesto lasagna while my husband opted for the ravioli in a lemon sauce. This was the best meal we had during our stay in Kauai.  Ambience - super-cool and contemporary but very comfortable, with an open kitchen which looks great.  Note: we always like open kitchens because it means they're clean.  No A/C, at least on the night we were there, and it was noticeable but not uncomfortable.Service - good for Hawaii, but not great.  I don't like having to wait/ask for water refills.  Sam, our server, was pleasant and took his time to explain the menu thoroughly for us and provided great recommendations.Menu - limited, but had a great range of what looked to be delicious choices.  Food - they didn't ask me what temperature I preferred for my filet, which was odd, but it ended up being a very nicely done medium, which is my preference.  The only complaint about the filet is that it was definitely on the dry side.  My partner's pizza was absolutely ridiculously delicious.  If you're on the fence about what to have GET THE PIZZA!!!  The crust is delicious, expertly burnt around the edges, the sauce is perfect and not too sweet, and they offer vegan cheese for those that wish to skip dairy.Price - REALLY high, and I almost gave them four stars because of it.  Truth be told, it was really worth it though. Phew what a place. First of all, if you're a cost-conscious traveler, don't come here. Second of all, if you're budgeting and plan on splurging. ..it's either this or a tour. Jk. But, seriously.Third of all, I didn't pay (was treated) but still, I know things. Lastly, whatever you choose...it's worth every penny.I enjoyed this place immensely! I live in LA, home of the beach bodies so I haven't eaten pizza in years. Whatever. I was talked into this place and I'm so glad I did. If there's any place to break a pizza fast, it's here. Also, as a vegan/gluten free person (not a fad), this place considered me and I appreciated that.The cheese is Miyoko's cheese. And yes, you pay for a teeny tiny amount but considering how much you get for what you pay at Whole Foods, it's like the same.Is the gluten free crust vegan? I wasn't expecting to give Piazza 5 stars. We've been coming to Kauai for years & have never found any restaurants in Princeville that were worth visiting. And let's face it: restaurants in Hawaii are often pricey, and we weren't sure if Piazza's price tag would have a gastronomic pay-off. But dang, it did. The Mai Milano (their take on the ubiquitous Mai Tai) made us total converts. The Ni'ihau lamb chops were delicious (not gamey like much of the lamb I've had), and the polenta fries that came with them were a revelation. My husband got the Hawaiian pizza special, which was the platonic ideal of Hawaiian pizza (the sauce was made of roasted pineapple. And it was topped with crispy proscuitto instead of ham. Come on.) The Caesar salad was of a shareable size, and their gelatos & sorbets are made in-house (We tried the olive oil vanilla gelato & the blueberry mojito sorbet. Both wonderful.).Just so you don't think I'm that easy to please, we had two complaints: the red wine is kept WAY too warm (it shouldn't be room temp if the room temp is in the high 70s), and we thought the pizza crust could have been crisper to avoid the dreaded "soggy bottom". But beyond that, we were really pleased. Our waitress was sweet & attentive, and we didn't wait long between courses. Final note: we live in the NYC area. So higher prices aren't that frightening to us because, for better or for worse, we're used to seeing them. I'd consider Piazza as a place that charges "New York prices". But the quality of the product, based on this experience, does an admirable job of matching the price tag. More...

Good sit-down restaurants are not very prevalent on Kauai. I don't mean hotel spots or even food trucks with picnic benches either. I have nothing against those types of places but when you're spending a month on island you simply can only eat so much mac-salad, musubi, poke and rice. I love all those before mentioned food items however, variety is seriously something you'll be craving and what is missing on Kauai.This restaurant nails it. Their style reminds me of a very good California-modern take on a open-floor plan trattoria. You aren't getting bad produce and bad dough, items are made to order directly in front of you in the open-kitchen. Very cool vibe here. Great California style pizza meets Neapolitan style pizza. Their pizza-forno pumps out solid pies with decent toppings. Fresh made salads with everything from roasted beets to great scratch dressings etc. Their cocktail program is definitely elevated and not trying to push sugary, tropically island style tired tiki drinks. Think real Manhattans, Old fashioneds and other solid stand outs using real Italian liqueurs and solid whiskies etc.I would be remiss if I didn't mention their kick-ass hostesses, servers, chefs and bartenders that all make this place work.
