I just wanted to say how absolutely incredible Mary and her team are. I am a sucker for family photos- I probably get them done 5-6 times per year as I often update my home walls. I was nervous to make a switch after we relocated as I used the same family photographer for many years but multiple times a month I found myself searching her social pages because I was in love with her work. My toddler is an absolute handful but also a sweetheart- my ten year old is perfectly behaved but my husband is a bit of a “hurry up let’s get this done” type of guy lol Mary accepted all of our personalities and embraced us with nothing but love! The one and only thing keeping me from hitting “do not recommend” is the fact that when I expressed how disappointed I was with our session, she offered a reshoot and I appreciate that. Bad reviews really hurt a small business and I’m not trying to do that but want to express my opinions. I’ll start by saying that Mary and Melissa have incredible energy and are amazing to work with on set, although we did feel rushed. They did our family photos last year, but to be honest, I wasn’t impressed with the gallery. The whimsical editing style she portrays just wasn’t there in our gallery, quite a few images were out of focus and there was very little diversity in posing. They offered us a reshoot, and we did a beach mini session with them. The editing style for the mini sessions was more what I had expected in the first session and was pleased overall with them but absolutely don’t feel that was money well spent, even between both sessions. One photo (out of 10) from the reshoot, I was blinking in, and another was blurry. Which in my opinion, shouldn’t be happening when you charge as much as she does. I expect near perfection (crisp images, face swaps if necessary etc) when one session is almost a months rent for a single family home (over $1,000) She has an incredible eye and such artistic talent with her editing and I hope she gets back to perfecting her work instead of settling for a decent image to edit and deliver. We had a newborn mini session yesterday. I was a little nervous at first bc the baby was wide awake when we arrived, Mary and her assistant did an amazing job with our kids and getting our little one back comfortable and back to sleep. My son keeps saying how fun it was going to her studio. She was a blast to work with and her set up/ props are so unique! Our pictures were edited surprisingly quick which was a plus bc I was so eager to see how they turned out. The only regret I have is not booking a full session. We will be going back to her for sure! I have been waiting 4 years for the opportunity to have Mary do my maternity photos. The moment FINALLY came when I found out we were having our first baby and the only option for me was to hire Mary. I flew to Boston from Virginia, and spent my session exploring, laughing, and feeling like a rock star. The entire experience was easy and relaxing and both Mary and Teresa did everything to make me feel comfortable and also gorgeous. To top it all off my gallery is truly a dream come true. I have yet to see our photos but I can't say enough about Mary and her assistant. They were so quick, efficient and engaging with my children. I was so worried about my 18 month old who never sits still or smiles on demand. Those two worked as a team and got the job done. Mary's work is amazing. A friend suggested her to me and after reviewing her albums online I fell in love with her beautiful photos. I am so glad we booked a newborn session with her. She captured our beautiful baby boy in such a special light as well as the joy his birth has brought to his brothers and my husband and I. Also, the whole experience was totally stress free.
