For Christmas, I chose to surprise my husband with a "taste of the town." Nothing is better than time together over delicious food - and we KNOW food! Self proclaimed foodies, we take our time learning restaurants and menus so we can make sure to make the most of our experience. It's not every day we have a babysitter for as long as we want and we were determined to make it worth it! On Swann did NOT disappoint! After spending the day tasting our way through Tampa, we landed upon our dinner reservation and honestly, we should have come here first and saved the appetite to taste our way through every item on the menu. Southern food, especially done right, is some of our favorite so clearly the hot chicken didn't hurt our feelings one bit! Lamb meatballs, short rib ragu and the pork chops were excellently prepared and presented. We are also major grits lovers (Anson Mills!) and friends, let me tell you about the grits!!! Order them by the bucket! Also, the kale salad should just happen as a prerequisite to anything else. The ambiance, the SERVICE and the meal exceeded our expectations from start to finish. Our glasses were never empty and our silverware offered new with each course- whether it was our server attending to us or someone else walking by and making sure we had what we needed. Went here for my birthday 12/11. Made reservations same day and very easy. Both of us had drinks which we thought to be excellent. The kale salad is must. Went for brunch with several friends. This wonderful restaurant is located in Hyde Park, just on the outside of the village. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for some time. I'm glad I got an opportunity! It was really enjoyable. The interior is spectacular! High ceilings and interesting chandeliers.The menu was interesting. I had the crab omelette that had white asparagus, herb ricotta, chive hollandaise. (I substituted the garlic crushed potato for a side of bacon)& mixed greens salad. Came to On Swann tonight, experience was great. Very energetic atmosphere and the food/drinks were delicious. I recommend the We Need To Talk drink (a little small though), and the cheese board, and the Scorchio pasta. Nice staff. I brought a group of 10 here a few weeks ago for a business dinner. I've taken this group to most of the nicer restaurants in Tampa, and this was one of the best experiences we've had. The food was delicious and the service was amazing - our server answered every question we threw at her, made great recommendations, and got every entree plate out at the same time (which can be tricky for a big group). The restaurant was bustling but not too noisy for conversation, and the ambiance hits that perfect balance between casual and fancy.The prices are high enough that I won't be coming here every week, but I've definitely added to our "nice dinner out" rotation, and I can't wait to come back.
