We ordered a regular sushi platter for a birthday party and the platter was beautifully boxed and ready to go right on time. The staff even taped an ice pack to the bottom of the platter to keep the sushi cool -- how thoughtful! The sushi was plentiful, delicious & got rave reviews. We will definitely be back for the next big event! Thanks Oita Sushi for making our event easy & yummy! More...
Small and cozy store. Food is great. Tried to help me out with my gluten allergy.
One of the best sushi places I have tried in NYC. Ordered the salmon combo and enjoyed it very much. Salmon is extremely fresh and though it is slightly expensive, Oita is definitely worth the premium due to its high quality ingredients and craftsmanship. Absolutely amazing texture and would definitely come back again! More...

Best sushi I ever tried!!
Tiny sushi restaurant with only two tables for two, and three stool seating. It's mostly a take out place. Ordering is done by tablet. Their takeout bag is pretty nice, a nice thick paper bag with rope handle. I had the salmon poke bowl which contains plenty of fresh salmon. Good quality fish, but the bowl was a bit boring compared to other poke bowls I had and it was a bit pricey. They give you a soy sauce, ginger type sauce for it which was too salty. Use sparingly! Four stars for the freshness and amount of fish, but three stars for the poke itself which is a new item and it isn't their specialty so I'll give them a little leeway. More...
Great little sushi place
Great quality. Fast service. Really easy ordering. The staff is always super friendly. Seems to be a local favorite as I always see alot of regulars coming in and out. Also a favorite with the hospital staff. More...
Fantastic customer service and great sushi. Small location but packed with a happy atmosphere.
i highly recommend. My friends and I ordered a variety of sushi on a platter and we were not disappointed at all. Each sushi was unique and tasty. Seaweed and ginger were very fresh. More...
I strongly recommend this sushi restaurant. Sushi is so fresh and awesome. Especially I love Salmon Poke. It has really amazing balance of taste.
I came here by chance and the truth did not disappoint me, all super fresh and very friendly attention
We are big fans of Oita Sushi. Every summer we spend a few weeks in NYC and Oita is our go-to sushi establishment. Conveniently located (near the 72nd St Q station), they are very quick, inexpensive, and tasty. I often will put in an order online while on the subway and then pick up our order when I walk out of the station. They also have a good menu and good selection of sushi. More...
Oita sushi is a fancy take out stand/cafeteria combo. What's cool and breezy is that you self order and pay through computer and then you can sit and enjoy in the small seating area. Fish: very good. Tuna and salmon roll was a bit on the petite side but the fish quality was good and for me that's the most important part of the sushi experience. For this reason only did I end up giving 4 stars. But, for the Kani salad I had, I'd give a 2 or 3. The taste was fine but the portion? For $6 you get about a cups worth, sitting on a mountain of pickles. I like pickles as much as the next person but, WHAT is the deal with the pickles?! (Seinfeld stand-up style). I may go back or most likely I'll keep searching for my UES sushi spot. More...
I had the eel lunch special. It came with miso soup, a dumpling and a small egg pancake "thingy" (sorry, don't know the name :/). Everything was very tasty. The presentation was also great. I took my order to go and I got this very fancy bag. I would definitely go back. I would order to go though. The place is really small. They have two small tables. More...
I am absolutely blown away by this sushi establishment in Manhattan!I was not expecting much due to the higher-than-normal prices, but I was absolutely blown away by the freshness of the sushi and the quality of the miso soup, not to mention the salads on the side were really tasty. The salmon sashimi was fresh, and the tuna sashimi was delicious. The shrimp shumai was really nice. The salad on the side was amazing! I usually don't eat salad, but I couldn't stop eating this particular salad. The miso soup was really fresh and yummy too~I will definitely be coming back. More...
Best sushi ever
A nice experience for a quick lunch. Great quality of fresh fish selects. Seats are limited.
More...
Excellent quality and very quick service. Just don't expect to find much seating.
Fresh and delicious -- We ordered a ton of food and enjoyed pretty much all of it. The sushi was sublime. The fish was firm and sweet and perfectly fresh. The spicy ramen is smoky and has a major kick to it, really perfect on a cold wet day. I was only so-so on the shrimp shumai but my companion adored them, and the shrimp tempura were delish. I did really love the gyoza. The seaweed salad was excellent. No comfortable seating, really just takeout unless you're young and healthy, but I'd go back again and again. More...

Delicious. I got combo lunch for a good price. There is not much space to seat on there. Only two tables for two people each. But the sushi is more than worth it More...
The best sushi I have had in my life. All of their ingredients are fresh and natural and unlike some places, the sushi is refreshing with a clean taste. They have a lot of unique rolls, too. They have the basic ones every sushi place has, but also has a lot of original Oita sushis, too. I love their authenticity and their clean taste. Their service is also great. Employees are really nice and friendly! On top of that, the restaurant is really clean, even their bathrooms are clean. Cute interior, too! Hope to visit again soon! More...
DELICIOUS SUSHI! Definitely worth the trip here.

I love Poke! I enjoyed Scottish Salmon Poke in Oita. Amazing!!! The sauce was very good. I strongly recommend you try Scottish Salmon Poke! The best Poke in the world.
Amazing quality/freshness of fish. The food was ready in an instant. The prices aren't low but the taste makes up for them.
Good, basic sushi place. Great place for takeout.
This is my new favorite sushi takeout in NYC. Surprisingly fresh and well made.
3/5 Quality of Food4/5 Quantity of Food5/5 Service4/5 Value (Price to Food + Service)I would say this is a classic case of form over function. Presentation is great, I ordered the mommy rose roll and it definitely looked better than it tasted. It wasn't bad but it was a little on the bland side. Friendly people and very helpful service, but unfortunately would not be my first choice. More...
I've been a big fan of Oita Sushi for about 3 years now. I tried their sushi for the first time back in 2015 at a friend's party. I'm a foodie so I tried every single roll she had them catered. Each one of them tasted so delicious and fresh. Ever since, every time I go to NYC, I make sure to stop by Oita sushi. Highly recommended. I would give more stars if I could. :) More...
I really enjoy their rolls a lot and this place is really great with their delivery and catering service. Their deliveries are always quick and they are one of the most responsive service oriented sushi places I have been to. They are such kind and happy people. We ordered their catering platters for our parties and my friends not only raved about the taste of the sushi, but the beauty of the platters. It is always a treat when we order from them. More...
I tried the new menu item called "Hawaiian Tuna Poke" with chili aioli sauce. It is a bowl of rice with tuna sashimi and vegetables on top. It was so delicious. The tuna was fresh and the portion was big. Together with the combination of the chili sauce the dish was great, I really enjoyed it! I could eat this every day. More...
I went to NY for a conference recently and the meeting had Oita sushi cater lunch. I was amazed by how beautiful the tray looked. Initially I was attracted by the look, but when I tried, they tasted so fresh, healthy and delicious. They were so flavorful that I didn't even use any soy sauce.I have yet to try their menu at their location and I'm keeping it on my list of places to go when I go back to NY next time. More...

I had heard about Oita Sushi through my friends in the area. At the time, I was planning for my best friend's baby shower. I thought Oita might be a good place to cater food from as most of my friends are very healthy eaters.I went to the restaurant to try it out first. I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the rolls were. I got a combination of sushi rolls and poke for the party. Everyone loved their salmon and tuna poke. Party was a success, part of it cuz of Oita.Very happy costumer. Thank you :) More...

Beautiful sushi! I tried their signature sushi and it was so yummy. A pleasant surprise. Thank you.
Top of my list for take out sushi
This place, I walked by few times and small but had inviting feel to it, one day I decide to finally try it, even though the sushi n sashimi looked not much different than others I was pleasantly surprised it was tastier than most sushi I've had, I mean I 've had a lot, i can tell when ingredient they used are fresh and high quality, I was very pleasantly surprised that they actually made a point to buy high quality ingredient ! I would def go back
We had a birthday party for my daughter, it was such a pleasant suprise to see 'Happy Birthday' written out on our platter! It was beautiful, everybody enjoyed it, will definetly order catering again in the futureThank you!!! More...

Very Good and Tasty Sushi restaurant....Tiny place though...Great for takeout
I give Oita sushi 5 stars because really like this small sushi place in upper east manhattan. I went there first time just because it is closest to my work, then often get to treat myself a nice pack of sushi after work. The store is tiny, sometimes easily packed with people. Sometimes the service takes time as they get busy, it is still understandable since there were only 3-4 staff running the restaurant. The best part is the quality of sushi : they always keep it fresh, never disappointed me. Even heavy ingredients like shrimp tempura, their recipe makes it taste light. If you are tired of salmon or tuna, try yellowtail scallion or yellowtail basil, you will never fail. More...
This is one of the best sushi place in UES. I found Oita sushi while walking around the neighborhood. My mother and I tried several rolls and surprisingly, all were so delicious! Since my mother loves sushi rolls so much, I ordered a sushi platter for her birthday. The sushi platter kept the same good quality and it was nicely decorated, too! I am happy that this tiny sushi place exists in my town. More...

very good sushis and the staff is very nice!
The best quality of sushi in New york. Very fresh roll and friendly workers. The place is small, so I recommend to grab n go.
The catering that this place provides is really amazing. I always order their platters for holiday events, and everyone raves about how unique, beautiful and delicious their sushi is. You can tell the sushi is very high quality and that the sushi chefs really take pride in their work. They decorate the platter with beautiful roses made out of radishes and butterflies. I love the fact they have very unique rolls for a quick pick up and they have made their store more convenient for the busy life of people living in manhattan as well. I like to take my friends here every so often because the quality here just can't be beat. TWO THUMBS UP! Best sushi I have ever had. More...
This place is so cute! I love going here with my friends on the weekend after walking around Manhattan. The rolls are delicious and so different from other sushi restaurants. I personally like the fire roll and their sushi and sashimi platter. I don't know why but the rice they use is so good!!!! The fish isn't fishy at all either. It really melts in your mouth. The staff is friendly, and the place is busy!! I think this place is a hot spot in Manhattan. Small, but amazing quality. More...

Beautiful and delicious food!
Great service and great food.
This sushi place is one of my favorite place to get takeout for sushi. After work when I am tired and don't feel like cooking, I go to one of my favorite places to order sushi and take it home to eat. The sushi is always fresh and the fish is clean and tasty. The yellowtail roles are delicious. I also always order the spicy tuna rolls and shrimp tempura. I've had the Udon noodles soup with a yummy tasting broth. The steamed pork gyozas are also delicious. You will be happy as they are really deliciously fresh, soft and flavorful. I have also been there for lunch and the lunch specials are really good deals. For about 13-15 dollars you can get several rolls, salad and kimchi and soup. Amazing deals. All in all, sushi is very, very good and the prices are phenomenal for the quality you get. More...
Excellent in every way. This is a neighborhood gem with seating for just a a few people.

Best in ues
While there is limited seating, the service is spectacular. I had to move to a barstool, after a large party walked in. I agreed to move, and the staff served me extra sashimi and edamame to show their appreciation. I was very thankful. The rolls were tasty and fresh. Will be recommending this spot. More...
I had a special gathering with my international friends I haven't seen in awhile and made a quick decision to order sushi catering. We googled and found Oita Sushi because of it's good reviews. And just as we had hoped the Platinum catering platter we ordered was fresh, the pricing was reasonable to it's proportion, and most importantly it was delicious!! All my friends loved it and we couldn't have had better food for our special gathering. Fabulous Sushi, great service both in house (very small and intimate) and as take-out. Also ordered a sushi platter for a party - beautiful and tasty!
Great atmosphere. Good quality. Excellent service.

This is great meal with Family and Friends for Thanksgiving Day! Very fresh and exotic foods. Taste is awesome!!!! Two thumbs!
We love Oita sushi! The fish is always so fresh and the signature rolls are extremely unique and delicious. The 2nd Ave subway construction can't keep us away from stopping in and enjoying this great spot. Definitely a must try.
Stopped by for lunch while we were in the UES and pleasantly surprised by the Mama Rose I ordered and the chirashi my husband ordered. Very fresh as it's made to order and also aestheticly pleasing, will let the pictures speak for themselves. They were very welcoming throughout which nicely complemented our meal. More...
I love Oita Sushi for its food and for the wonderful people running it. The restaurant is tiny - just enough to seat maybe 2-3 people at the bar and maybe 4-5 at tables. I usually go with either one or two other people at most because it can get cramped but it's also a great place to grab a quick delicious lunch by yourself and take a break.I have gotten both the regular udon and the curry udon and they are both phenomenal. The broth is always deep, complex and well-developed and the noodles are cooked with just the right amount of bite. The toppings are also very fresh and a great addition. The portions are satisfying, especially for lunch time but you can also add extra noodles to fill you up a little more at a small cost (I think $2-$3).The staff is warm and inviting and always takes the time to check in tactfully. I always recommend Oita Sushi and hope they keep up the great work. More...
Oita Sushi is a small and casual spot that serves up some Instagram worthy sushi. I recommend as an option for takeout or for a quick bite with a friend or two, definitely not big enough for a large group. I decided on the shrimp tempura roll and spicy salmon, both delicious and fresh and artfully prepared. Looking forward to trying their lunch specials and udon. More...
I love going to Oita Sushi with my close friends and business partners. If you reallyyyy want to treat someone to sushi this is the place to be! Its soooooo unique!! I guarantee it is different and more delicious than ANY sushi you have ever had before. 100% guarantee!!! It's a celebrity hot spot now!! I also get all of my catering for work holiday parties from here. It's a real treat for others!! The sushi trays are pieces of ART!!! Everyone at work will love you!! At the restaurant the staff is super accommodating and they make you feel like you have been visiting for years! They really treat you like family. If you decide to go I suggest getting the Kobe beef roll ( super unique) and the curry udon soup which is unbelievably delicious and healthy! Its my personal favorite. Oh!! and the momma rose roll is really beautiful. Anyways, you have to go and experience it for yourself. I don't normally write reviews but this place deserves it. They really do a good job. Go! I'm sure you will also want to write a review :-) More...
Best sushi hands down in the city . Extremely fresh and I get the food within minutes. I come here every week . Highly recommend !
Great prices and portions.
My friend and I I shared yellowtail basil roll, sushi, and cheviche, all of which were so great and different in a refreshing way. And I can say their udon soup is the best I've ever had. Their udon is definitely a go for everyone who loves noodle~!! More...
I love it. Oita sushi is the best one that I've tried.
I love this place. I cannot believe how they make these harmonized fresh sushi. The ingredients are so fresh. It makes foods more tasty. When I eat yellowtail basil sushi, I cannot belive how they think and create this tempting harmonizing taste. I'm almost space out to eat. Also I love curry udon. When I heard that they didn't put any seasoning, I cannot believe it. I heard that they just use natural ingredients, such as jujube, squash and so on for sweet taste. I wonder how they make profit to make foods with this way. Moreover, the look of sushi is kind of art. Especially for catering service, you will see how beautiful it is. When I get the catering plate, I usually feel that I just want to see and enjoy without touch. But my mouth and stomach cannot regret to taste it, so I always rush to eat.I definitely can recommand you this place to taste it. If someone knows the fresh taste of sushi and sashimi, she or he would understand what I'm talking about. More...
Its a very good sushi place, despite its size and missing a bathroom. It relies heavily on takeouts and deliveries, because there only 2 small tables for 2 each and another 3 to 4 people sushi bar. Quality for food is great! And the lunch special is actually really worth it. It includes 1 roll (I tried the shrimp tempura, and it was great!), a little bit seaweed salad, 1 piece of shumai, a side salad, a soup, small cup of udon. On top of the lunch special, we also ordered the yellowtail basil and it's one of their signature rolls. The yellowtail inside was fresh and when eat it with the basil inside, its super refreshing. For me it's the first time i had sushi with fresh basil inside. Waitress there was nice, and polite. The whole store wave you goodbye when leaving. Recommended. More...
Sushi was delicious & very fresh!
Just Amazing!! Fresh, delicious, good people and beautiful!! Also the catering is the best party plate of my life. I tried almost every menu, while I visited New york and always I was satisfied. I will miss them.
Excellent sushi. The "Mommy Rose" is the prettiest roll I've ever eaten. There is very limited seating and no restroom, however.
Very nice staff, cute restaurant with limited seating, unique menu of sushi.
Really great sushi! But if you want to sit down beware, there are only 8 seats.
Lovely place and yummy yummy
I finally tried Oita Sushi after passing it for a couple of years now and being intrigued. The fish was very fresh, and I had plenty of sushi for dinner one night and lunch at work the next day. Their catering platters look gorgeous. More...
I am not one to ever write reviews but this place deserves it. This is the best quick sushi spot in all of Manhattan serving super fresh and gourmet specialty rolls. The ingredients are always incredibly fresh: the fish, veggies, and rice varieties. Their specialty roll combinations are inventive and delicious: adding mango, red pepper, basil and forbidden rice to jazz up your every day roll. My favorite rolls they have are the following: the Yellowtail Basil roll, Baja Fresh roll, Tempura Shrimp Roll, and Spicy tuna avocado roll. The steamed pork gyozas are also delicious. My boyfriend and I make a point to order takeout from oita sushi every week as there isn't much space to sit inside. However, the interior is super clean, organized, and cheerful. Delivery from Oita sushi is also always very speedy! More...
I found a gem here in New York City. The sushi was fresh and delicious. If you go and are lucky enough you have to get the uni and the yellowtail basil roll! The only down side is no restrooms but I feel that's common in NYC. More...
Amazing place all around - highly recommend! Stopped in for dinner with my mom and baby and despite being a tiny place, they were very welcoming of us and our stroller too. We thoroughly enjoyed both the gracious and friendly service and the sushi, which was very creative (in a good way). We ordered seaweed salad, a couple of the natural sodas, a few of the signature rolls and loved them all, especially the Baha Roll that was so fresh and flavorful. Will be back many more times I'm sure! More...
This is like my tenth time here. You gotta try to smoked salmon/avocado roll! Moderate prices and really, really good service.
Great place on upper east side for reasonably priced sushi. We tried 3 special rolls: dragon roll, Baja Fresh, and yellowtail basil roll, all around $15-18 each. Yellowtail basil roll is pretty unique and refreshing. Baja Fresh was solid and fresh. Dragon roll probably weakest because the eel to avocado ratio wasn't great. Rolls aren't drowned in spicy mayo sauce so you can actually taste the fish and ingredients. Good spot for lunch, wasn't too busy! More...
This place is a true gem in this area. The restaurant itself is so small that I think it only fits 4 people sitting and maybe 2-3 at the counter, but their food and special rolls is delicious! And cheaper than other restaurants in the same area (hello, Ko sushi). If you don't plan on eating in, than this makes this place even better!!! Just order a take out or delivery and you'll see by yourself. More...
This is by far the best sushi place in manhattan at this price. By far. I love how polite and clean they are. It's a family that runs the place - they use very good ingredients and don't put crap in their food just to make it taste good like other shops but manage to make it taste better!!
This place is incredible. I come a couple times per month and have gotten their catering twice as well. Everything is always superb -- fresh, clean, delicious. Make sure to try the sashimi plate or lunch special! There isn't much seating but the quality of the take-out is just as high as eating in. The staff are extremely welcoming and warm. More...
Came here with a coworker for dinner during our break. It was good! This place is mainly for take-out but there are two small tables for 2 and bar seating available as well. Service was excellent! We were greeted when we walked in, given menus and water in a timely fashion, and got our order very quickly. They also stopped by our table on several occasions to ask us how things were and said goodbye to us when we left. They serve lemon water! We got the Baja Fresh and the Mommy Rose rolls. The Baja Fresh was delicious! The salmon was very fresh, the salsa on top added a nice kick to the roll, and the crabmeat, avocado, and cucumber inside the roll was a great combination. The Mommy Rose roll was very nicely crafted visually but the taste was just alright and costs $1 more than the Baja Fresh. These rolls are around $13+ but it's reasonable because they come with 12 pieces as opposed to 8 pieces with your standard special roll. Overall, great dining experience here. I would come back if I'm at work and am craving sushi. More...
Amazingly fresh ingredients make sushi and sashimi delicious. Note: they have only one table so better to order delivery.
Absolutely TINY restaurant.. not even a bathroom for customers. It was clean and sufficient for a meal with a couple friends. The sushi is non-traditional, for sure, and I lived in Japan for 6 years so I am very picky. However, the ingredients were super fresh, and I loved the combination of different veggies and rices in the rolls, like basil, kale, carrots. I would order take out next time. More...
For me this its one of the best restaurants that I have visited. My boyfriend and I visited in our vacations in New York. The service was amazing, unfortunately I don't remember the name of our waiter, he did a great job and an excellent presentation of the food. If I go to New York again, for sure I'll come back More...
Good food, fresh and delicious. Place very clean, but small and without bathroom.
Awesome!! Sushi is awesome, udon is awesome, staffs are soooo nice. Everything is awesome! Highly recommended
Incredible value for money. I wish there was one of these by my office and one by my apartment in SF.Sashimi Lunch Special: 5 starsThis was 6pc sashimi, a side salad, kimchi, siew mai, and small bowl of udon soup for $12.The sashimi alone was worth the price of admission. The freshness and quality of the cuts (2pc maguro, 2pc sake, 2pc hamachi) blew me away. The best sushi I have had at this price point--I would pay $15 for 4pc of inferior quality at most SF restaurants.Even the side salad was exquisitely dressed, with nice touches of mangoes, cranberries, edamame and cherry tomatoes. The udon, kimchi, and siew mai were decent. I would definitely come back if I lived on the upper east side. More...
The catering from Oita was first rate. From the friendly and knowledgeable staff to the most gorgeous sushi platters I have ever seen, Oita did not disappoint. My guests could not believe the handmade flowers out of vegetables and the freshness of the fish. First rate. More...
Great deal! The lunch special is fantastic, with some seaweed salad, a shumai, a roll of your choice, half cup of ramen with tons of mushrooms and toppings, and a salad. All for under $15. My friends ordered sushi and rolls. Although these didn't seem cheap in terms of objective price, the portions are huge. Two rolls would be enough for lunch. They have creative rolls and the ingredients they use are very fresh. The place is tiny, but there is seating at small tables or at the bar. Surprisingly, it was not super full even around 12:45pm on a weekday. They also sell some unique drinks in their open fridge on the side. Service was great, as they refilled our water and cleared our table efficiently. Speed was just right. We got our food in about 10 minutes. Check came quickly, and we were out within 30 minutes. Small, cute place, good to grab food - also good service and explanations within the menu (pictures!) of what the food is. Didn't really seem like a social scene, but better for a calm dinner. Sushi was very good. More...
Proud to make Oita my first review... This place is amazing and always fresh. The service is consistently good. The delivery is quick - and the sushi quality is always top notch. 5 enthusiastic stars!
Really great service and delicious sushi! I recommend the green dragon sushi and the udon noodles. Yum!
Very fresh ingredients. I like the restaurant's focus on healthy, fresh food. Wait staff friendly and efficient. Small, casual, comfortable atmosphere.
Very good sushi here. Small place, 4 spots with table, a few spots on a bar. But best sushi I tasted thus far!
Just finished their lunch special for the first time and couldn't wait to write a review.Udon soup was so good - made my sniffles go away even. Noodles were perfection. Spicy tuna was actually spicy. Horray!Mini dishes were surprisingly delicious. Literally, everything was so right about that meal. Plus the lady who took my order was so nice. Will definitely be back. More...
Wow. Really fresh, soft, mouth watering pieces of fish here. I got the sushi regular and it was delicious. I was so surprised that I was eating such delectable sushi that I ate it without garnish or sauce. I will definitely come back.
They have some unique rolls here that were fun to try. We got the Baja Fresh and yellowtail basil roll. Baja was good; yellowtail basil was interesting but probably wouldn't order it again, because the basil was a bit overpowering. The sushi combo was also good--they are quite generous with the size of the fish. Date loved the beef udon, which I did not try because I don't eat meat, but it looked good! More...
Tiny and cozy Japanese place. The food is delicious and very fresh, very affordable as well. People working here are super friendly. I've eaten here about four times now and never been disappointed. One of my favorite spots in the city. More...
We live couple blocks away and cold here often. We pretty much tried everything here. Special rolls are all delicious and full of freshness and flavor. Curry udon is a must-have. Everything is fresh and tasty, and the service is awesome. More...
Nice place. The shrimp Tempura roll is impressive . The shrimp tempura was delicious with sauce. It goes well with Avocado. The avocado was fresh. I also had spicy Tuna roll. The Tuna was fresh and adequately spicy . I tried curry udong other day. It was Ok. It is a little pricey but I think it is worth trying their Sushi because the quality of their Sushi was excellent . The staffs are kind. The place was clean. More...
We ordered a Sushi platter for a party. Oita delivered the most beautiful platter i have ever seen! Cucumbers into flowers, carrots into butterflies, and a spectacular carved veggie rose in the middle. The sushi was fresh and delicious! Each roll was made with ingredients that were interesting and beautiful. We have found a true gem in Oita Sushi! More...

Best sushi in the Upper East Side and the best I have ever had so far. It is a little pricier than other sushi restaurants but the quality is just amazing, so I think it's totally worth it. Highly recommend the Beef Udon Soup and any roll with salmon or yellowtail. The place is tiny (2 tables with 2 spots only), and doesn't have a real restaurant feel, but the service is super friendly, and they do takeout. Last week we ordered the party plate takeout for our post city hall wedding celebration. As expected, the quality was amazing - and I have never seen so much sushi disappear so quickly! Everybody said it was the best sushi they had in NYC so far. The restaurant did a really pretty decoration with reddish carved as flowers and a butterfly, so it looked really nice, too. And on top of that, they gave us a huge plate of gyoza on the house, and a really sweet card with best wishes. Highly recommended! More...
i always walk in for takeout because I'm always in a rush. First off, everyone in the place is so friendly everytime I walk in. After a long day at the office, it really is a nice gesture to step inside from the cold weather and be greeted by such pleasant people. The food, amazing and nothing short of that. If you look at the presentation of the sushi it is by far the best I have ever see. The food is FRESH always, they have a dedication to their food preparation and quality which I can say is the best in the city. Oita Sushi, change nothing. Keep doing exactly what you do which is providing a friendly, clean and great quality restaurant. And I love your shrimp tempura udon, I have to try the curry udon next.--james More...

I finally found a great sushi restaurant on the upper east side! I ordered two regular catering menu platters for a party. We all loved the sushi! It was fresh and delicious. I was pleasantly surprised by how tasty even the vegetable rolls were. We were all very impressed by the taste and the artistic attention to detail. I definitely recommend catering from Oita! More...
Fresh sushi and sashimi rolls! Menu items are very limited, but the quality is all there! I ordered the dragon, spicy tuna and shrimp tempura roll. Ingredients and taste were definitely on par. I recommend the spicy tuna. Melts in your mouth . If your looking for frozen sushi, old ingredients and a stale style ambiance go to King Kong sushi in Claremont, California. If your hankering for some fresh healthy sushi head over to Oita Sushi! More...
One of the best sushi restaurants in the city and probably the best I have ever had so far. I had two different dishes, the Fried Beef Udon Soup and Tuna Roll (had the red one). The Field Beef Udon is pretty much a noodle soup dish with Udon (fish ball I have assumed to believe [please correct me if I'm wrong]) soaked in carrot soup. The broth is one of the best part of the soup, worth every drop. The Tuna Roll was prepared fresh with with avocado, who knew it tasted great with fish.Overall love the atmosphere and the folks that work there are very friendly. This palace was great! We actually came here right after a mediocre experience at another sushi place near by (you can never have enough sushi in one night :-) ). VERY limited seating but the sushi was really fresh. We started with some steamed pork gyoza which tasted like they were home made. And the rolls we had were perfect...all the ingredients looked and tasted amazing! The staff is very nice and everything came out quickly. I would definitely go back! More...
Oita prepared the MOST beautiful tray of sushi for us to bring to a New Year's Eve Party last night...for only $100! It included such beautiful and delicious rolls...it was truly the hit of the party! Their rice to veggies/fish ratio is so generous and perfect and the woman who took my order could NOT have been nicer! I don't live anywhere near 2nd Avenue but I will make a point to go here again the future. Cute little shop, incredibly kind staff, and outstanding value/ingredients!! More...
The food was delicious! We ordered the catering platter for $100 and it was a great deal. Everything was fresh and the tray looked spectacular. Looking forward to returning.
Great sushi, great service, and great value. Some really interesting rolls. Mainly a takeout and delivery place and no alcohol. But definitely recommend.
Not much seating (6... maybe 8?) inside so most likely you'll be using this place for take out or catering. The lunch special of a half udon order with an entree hit the spot. Very fresh sashimi and a nice little shrimp dumpling as well. In order to try something different we shared the Yellowtail Basil roll which might have been too much food overall (that Udon really fills you up!). The roll with brown rice was not what I expected. Had a similar texture to some grain/veggie patties. If you're on a health kick you should like it but those of you looking for a roll with more salty or savory flavors might find it lacking compared to your standard heavy sauced and season specialty roll. We were both trying to get back on the bandwagon after holiday feasting so it was just what the doctor ordered. More...
I met up with a friend here for dinner on a weekday, and was incredibly impressed by the level of service and the quality of food here. The place is small but very clean, well decorated, bright and just warm and friendly. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly. We got several things from the menu and were so impressed by how good everything we ordered tasted! I got the Baja Fresh roll, and absolutely loved the presentation. We also ordered Spicy Tuna, and unlike most places where they just put spicy mayo with the tuna, the rolls here are actually prepared in really tasty seasoning and it makes all the difference in the world. My friend and I stayed chatting for a while, and the staff members did not show any signs of being annoyed or wanting us to clear the table. They let us be, and on our way out they gave us a warm cup of tea-to-go because they were closing and it was a rainy, dreary night. The price is mid-range, but the quality and service is completely worth it. It's really good sushi and I would highly recommend this place to friends and would definitely go there again (many times). A friend of mine recommended Oita, so I had ordered the "Regular" platter for the company holiday party online which was convenient. When I went to pick it up, I was welcomed at the restaurant by friendly smiles from the staff which was nice and it immediately put a smile on my face. The food was ready right on time as I had instructed online and it came very nicely packaged to carry. There were enough chop sticks, condiments and dipping trays. Later on I even found a Thank You card for the order, which I thought was a touch of class you don't see these days. They even assisted me to the car which was helpful since it was raining outside. When I laid it out along with the other food at the office it really visually stood out. It was so pretty to look at!! Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted as good as it looked. Everything was so delicious!! Everyone complimented on how fresh and delicious everything was on the platter. I could tell that the food was prepared with a lot of love and care. It was good to see my coworkers really enjoying the food! I think I found a hidden gem in the city. I will definitely make the food here a regular part of my dining as well as any office party in the future! More...
4.5 stars! my coworker recommended to try this place. we ordered the sashimi lunch special and oita udon. it is a little more expensive compared to other Japanese restaurants that we normally order for lunch but well worth it. the sashimi was fresh and the oita udon was perfectly seasoned. More...

I came to this sushi restaurant as a recommendation by a buddy of mine. I expected this place to be a lot bigger than it is, but the place is nicely furnished and beautiful, despite the location and size. With only two tiny tables by the window in the corner to sit at, I got an assortment sushi since I wanted to get a variety of different seafood they use and get a taste test of what they had in store. I was very impressed by the variety of fish they use: salmon, different varieties of tuna one being red which I couldn't figure out what it was, and squid. I could also be mixing up the fishes myself. My least favorite was the squid because it had to be tied with a seaweed and i'm not a huge fan of seaweed, usually have to be sandwiched in between stuff.I was still hungry so I got what was called the dragon, which is pretty much eel sushi roll. I was very impressed with how it tasted as the eel was cooked so it wasn't completely raw, the avocado added an extra taste which complemented the rest of the sushi.Everything is made on the spot behind the counter so you know its fresh at a reasonable NYC price. I really hope they can find a better bigger location because they deserve better than that puny location they got right now hiding out of sight behind construction. More...
On a recent quick trip to New York, I found myself ravenously hungry and short on time to eat. Thanks to you yelpers, I found Oita, which is probably the size of my bedroom but has waaay better sushi (my bedroom has no sushi, though, so I guess it's no competition). Having spent the whole day travelling, I was hungry enough to devour an entire Baja Fresh roll and a bowl of Oita udon, much to the waitress's surprise. They were both delicious--the baja fresh roll was crunchy and fresh, with the kick of spice complimenting the flavor of the salmon. The oita udon was hearty, the broth wasn't too salty, and the noodles were the perfect texture. Definitely not a place to go with more than two people, but it's an awesome spot. More...
What an amazing find! My girlfriend and I stumbled on this small sushi joint and I'm so glad we did. They're very reasonably priced and the sushi was great. Made fresh of course. Hands down, Oita Sushi is now officially my favorite sushi restaurant. It is in a class of its own and definitely is not your typical sushi restaurant. The rolls and sushi are fresh and unique. But Oita Sushi offers an extremely clean, refreshing twist on sushi, using only all natural, healthy ingredients. I was very impressed with this tiny gem in Manhattan. We went for lunch as a group of four. Everyone ordered the udon + signature roll oita combo. And we couldn't pass up the triple ceviche. We were all extremely full after all that food!Starting with the udons:Both the curry and the regular udon were amazing in their own ways. The curry udon has this rich, delicious depth to it, while the regular udon is light yet hits the spot! The signature rolls:1. Mommy Rose - The presentation of the roll was beautiful. Elegantly crafted, the Mommy Rose is a solid roll for those who love lots of sushi.2. Baja Fresh - as the name says, this roll was very fresh and light. Loved the jalapeño as it gave the roll a slight kick.3. Yellowtail Basil - My favorite of the 4 we tried. I loved the fact that this roll was made with black rice. This roll has tangy flavor without any heavy dressing or sauces. Loved that Oita used basil and mango in this roll!4. Happy Salmon - This roll combined the creaminess of avocado and salmon with the sweetness of Asian pear and mango for a perfect balance of rich and sweet. I definitely recommend this cute and delicious sushi restaurant! More...
Excellent place and would recommend to anyone. Very nice staff, they had the best pickles. I also really enjoyed the miso soup. What really stood out to me was the fact that I asked for an alteration on my meal and the lady didn't hesitate to meet my needs. Definitely coming back when next in NYC. More...
The sushi here is really yummy! Not fishy at all like some places tend to be and super fresh. I got the lunch special with the spicy tuna roll. It came with spicy pickled cauliflower, seaweed salad and a fresh salad with veggies, pieces of fresh mango, dried cranberries and a piece of hard boiled egg! Along with the sushi till you get a cup of udon soup which was delicious. For an extra 2$ I got the curry udon instead of the regular. The noodles were chewy and delicious. Since I was with my sister we also go the mommy rose special roll to split and it was as tasty as it was beautiful. But after all the food that came with the lunch special we couldn't even finish the mommy rose roll and packed it to go. They also serve you hot green tea on the house! The place itself is VERY small and ur lucky if u get a place to sit. I will be back though! More...
Lovely little place! Ordered takeout and enjoyed the assorted sushi combo and pork gyoza. Friendly staff. It's very tiny - only two tables and a handful of seats at the sushi bar.
Great quality affordable sushi. Perfect for delivery with an easy website to order from.
YUMM! Tiny tiny sushi restaurant. 8 seats total. They mostly do take away or delivery but we ate there. Super nice and friendly waitstaff. Very unique but super fresh sushi, elegantly prepared. Korean sushi, so it is not only tasty but almost could be art work visually! Lots of healthy choices and you can effectively make your own by telling them what you want. Couple next to us was gluten free and they were easily able to accommodate them with many choices including gluten free soy sauce. Really a Great find. Only wished they delivered to where I live but it is not too far away and even with endless sushi on the UES I would go back here in a second. Also, for Kimchee lovers (like me). Their Kimchee is fresh and amazing!! More...
Great spot for a lunch or quick dinner. They keep their menu simple, but executed on everything very well from the udon to the sushi. The fish was extremely fresh as well. Strongly suggest stopping in here instead of ordering from some hole in the wall off seamless. More...
Seriously such a cute little place!!! I came here for dinner with my boyfriend on a cold fall night as we were craving some hot udon within walking distance from our apartment. We were lucky enough to get the last two seats in the restaurant, and we sat by the bar. The service was really good.. The staff were attentive and friendly and made us feel welcome as soon as we stepped in. We both got the Oita Udon (he got the vegetarian bowl while I got the regular bowl). They were both delicious! I love that the broth was flavorful even though they don't use MSG in their food. Also, the udon had a bit of a darker shade so I have a feeling they might use whole wheat udon. All in all, very healthy and tasty, perfect for a cold night!Take note that the restaurant itself is tiny. There are only 2 tables of 2, and 4 seats by the bar, so this wouldn't be a place to go to if you have a larger group. They also don't have restrooms so you're probably meant to eat quick and go. If you're interested in delivery, they deliver between 59th and 79th!Even though I just ate here yesterday, I already can't wait to come back because I've got my eye on their curry udon and some of their other sushi rolls! Watch this space.. More...
I've been spoiled with some damn good sushi lately, and Oita is no exception. They have some combinations that I have never come across before, including quinoa, basil, and mozzarella. The Mama Rose is a meal by itself. Don't be a greedy pig like me, and order both a soup and four extra sushi pieces, because I feel like a giant rice brick has nestled down and made itself a permanent home in my stomach. The place seats two parties of two and 5 people around the bar. I appreciated how health-conscious the menu is: besides offering their own sodas, they have signature rolls for vegetarians and vegans that go beyond your standard cucumber roll. The menu also has soba and udon for those who hate sushi. When we finished eating and were getting ready to leave, the chef behind the counter smiled and asked how everything was. Everyone, even newbie customers like us, were greeted like regulars. I'm really happy that an awesome, reasonably-priced sushi joint opened just steps away from my front door. NEXT TIME: curry udon, shrimp tempura roll, eel roll. More...
Awesome small sushi joint. Best for take out or off hours as it is tiny. Reminds me of the small restaurants in Tokyo . Udon is excellent , soup base has an amazing umami flavor. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff are uncommonly sweet and exude such great positive energy. I always leave Oita with a smile!
One of the best places I have enjoyed sushi. The owners and staff do a wonderful job making the small restaurant feel intimate, welcoming everyone like a true house guest. The ingredients are all of genuine quality, from the vegetables to the sashimi. You can tell from the way the final product looks and tastes, as well as from the small postings on the store. The dishes end up being a beautiful, delicious palette. The lunch special is a bargain, with flexible options, for a place that also has very creative signature roles. I've never seen many of them before. I had the yellowtail basil which was certainly unique (the basil component is a strong). Can't wait to return. More...
Our favorite delivery sushi option, bar none. Last week, they included a hand-written post-it-note on with our order, telling us they were including a complimentary piece of their favorite fish of the day, and wishing us good health. So, in sum, pretty much the best.
Into this spot. Literally the smallest restaurant I've ever stepped foot into, the whole place seats 4 people although good sashimi and sushi. If you're looking for casual, quick sushi, go here. More...
The place is mostly a take out restaurant. That said, it has 12 chairs between a few on a tiny bar and two small tables by the street window, but enought of this unsignificant details! The food is fantastic, fresh, well prepared and all you can expect from Sushi! The Yellowtail and the Tuna were unbelievable fresh and tasty, they know about Gliten Allergies and took great care of us. The service was good (the waitress forgot some of the drinks, no biggie, the place had a lot of foot traffic and deleiveries going out beaides the 12 people they can accommodate, so I'll give it a pass!) we had an energetic 2 year old with us and it was no problem for the staff who were amazed at the rate he was eating the Sake Sashimi (yes, Salmon no rice wine!!!). Will I come back to this little gem surviving amazingly in between the street construction and the new corner building, absolutely! More...
Some of the best sushi I've eaten! Oita Sushi is an intimate neighborhood sushi parlor with an amazing chef and dedicated and caring staff. We tried their Manhattan Combo with Udon and was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the chewy noodles and the crispness of their sushi rolls and salads. The spices give all the food a nice kick, but don't overpower the taste. The food here is super fresh (the salmon we had was bought that day and tasted delicious) and they buy organic food directly from local farms. Don't forget to try their yummy Triple Ceviche and Curry Udon! More...

How can the sushi be so good in a place that looks like a Subway? This may be one of life's many unexplained mysteries. The place has two tables so I am assuming most of their business is delivery. We sat at the counter. It was uncomfortable. There isn't much of a selection and the menu is confusing. The wasabi and ginger come in a box. Then I ate the sushi. For the price, this place has nothing to envy from any of the high-end places. This sin't the best sushi in the world but it was so good it warranted for a five-star review. More...
Perfect for take-out or lunch.I have come here for lunch a few times and for $12 you get udon soup, kimchi, side salad, single shumai and 6 pieces sashimi. I also like the for the chef sashimi, they dont give you any filler fish, its all fish that you would order like salmon, tuna, yellowtail, white tuna, etc. For a $1, they also let me substitute the udon for soba noodle soup, which I prefer.Their sushi is always fresh and they have really inventive, healthy rolls like quinoa and kale. The service is also really good. If you order takout, they offer you green tea or lemon water while you wait. More...
I have been trying to find places that are healthy and tasty and this place fits the bill.when they make spicy rolls they don't add loads of mayo
Definitely a hidden gem. Not your typical sushi place. The sushi/roll selection is totally unique with combinations like basil, chives, avocado and yellowtail with black rice!! I challenge you to find a better spicy tuna roll anywhere on the UES. Super delicious and not your typical mayo loaded roll. All the fish was very fresh and salmon is all wild which is a plus. Definitely check it out if your around the area. More...
Wonderful little sushi place, found them on yelp and decided to give it a go. Got takeout and it was delicious. The only problem is I didn't order enough :)
Very cute small store on the UES. Not a lot of seating, seems like people usually take the food to go. We ordered 2 bowls of udon, the Mama Rose, some meat sushi special, and eel roll for 3 people. My favorite was the eel - nothing special about the roll, but the eel flavoring was just very very good, reasonably priced as well (I think around 8$?). The Mama Rose, the waitress said it was the owner's favorite... was very fresh tasting, but I felt that they cut the fish too small. I'm used to thin fish that are cut long, but this was just thin and square/short? The meat sushi was decent (my fiance actually ate some of this since he doesn't like fish, and he was a fan). The udon was tasty. Left feeling full. More...
Fast Japanese food, very tiny place, so come early to get seated. But come late is ok because of its poor business.
Wow. This is probably the only place on Yelp that I've seen with a perfect five-star average, and it absolutely deserves it! The sushi is so good here that that is what this place is all about. It's a VERY small spot so do not go if you're looking for a dining experience. Go if you are in the mood for some of NYC's best sushi. What makes it so good is the incredibly fresh fish and the sushi master's commitment to quality. I ate at Oita the first week it opened, have been a few times since, and have had it delivered to my apartment - the quality has been consistent every time. The menu is fun and varies from the traditional sashimi and nigiri to some creative rolls with surprising ingredients like Asian pear, salsa, kale, and quinoa. More...
What a hidden jem! Truly enjoyed having lunch here - the sushi was delicious! Had the Mama Rose and Baja rolls, the portions were much larger than expected and they tasted great. The bowl was as picturesque as it tasted.Although this place is tiny, it makes up for its small size with great service and delicious food. More...

Excellent food and great service. Quite simply the best sushi I've ever had. They make it fresh in front of you and use a lot of vegies and nice cuts of meat and fish. With so many choices in the area, how do you decide where to go? I read through the reviews and walked by a few restaurants and this one grabbed my attention. Very small, two small tables and seating for 6 at the sushi bar. Very bright and clean. The hostess/waitress was very friendly, as was the sushi chef. I arrived late so opted to take my two rolls to go, but was offered a hot or cold tea to go, a very nice touch, with a tea bag to take home with me. The sushi was very good. Spicy tuna roll was just spicy enough with spices only, not a spicy mayo sauce and the tuna and salmon rainbow roll was amazing. Avocado was fresh and perfectly ripe and fish was just the right thickness and texture. The flavors were great. I was very pleased with the entire experience. More...

Very interesting new sushi place in the neighborhood. Too tiny to eat in but take out or delivery is fine. Very different rolls than you would find in ordinary sushi restaurants and they will make you anything you want. Staff are very kind and sweet when you go in and delivery is usually pretty quick. Appetizers are good as well. More...
Strolled around the neighborhood to discover this cozy restaurant. The sushi was presented beautifully and tasted fresh! The waitress greeted and checked in frequently to make sure everything was going well.I would recommend going around the lunch special hours (ends at 2PM) and take out if you're in a need of a quick, affordable, and delicious meal!*Note that the restaurant isn't really suited for large parties (small parties of 1-2). This is the best sushi in the city!! A little bit pricey but it´s so good so it´s really worth it. The place is kind of small and has only a few tables and bar seating but take away is also very good. Staff is really nice and very professional. More...
Great food in a small, adorable package! The restaurant looks like a cheerful, sushi joint from outside, (loved the lightbulb decorations!) but I was struck by the warmth when I decided to go in. Great woodwork. I think the place has some Korean roots since they offered tea and kimchi promptly on arrival. The kimchi was delicious but their cauliflower showed some expert knowledge of pickling.I was expecting your standard fare sushi but was really impressed! They have some fun, creative rolls that really pack a lot of flavor. Each roll came with 8-9 generous pieces, and were all really beautiful. (Their "Mama Rose" actually does look like that)One roll in particular that I thought was really astounding was the "Happy Salmon", which was really happy! The roll comes with some extraordinarily fresh salmon (which apparently is all sourced locally, thankfully), mangos, cucumber, and avocado, and (get this)- korean pear! It was unexpected, and absolutely delicious. A very fresh and clever take on sushi.Prompt, professional service and overall just a great new addition to the UES. Will visit again! More...
This place is SUCH a cute gem! They have an incredibly creative take on sushi and the execution is EXCELLENT. Very happy we stumbled upon this adorable and unpretentious place.
What a find! Tiny as tiny can be (like 10 seats?). Super friendly. A little English-language challenged, which is reassuring in a sushi place. Just two of us for a light lunch, so we didn't get to sample everything, but the sushi and sashimi we had was sparkling fresh and tasty. The seaweed salad was fine (I think it's all made by the same vendor wherever you get it), and the kimchi was flavorful, though I like it spicier. Even the green tea they served us was delicious and hot. Raw fish is never cheap, but for the quality, not even remotely expensive. Can't wait to return when I'm in the neighborhood! More...
If you go to Hunter College you know there aren't that many food options besides your basic halal and bagels which is why I'm so glad Oita Suhi is here! They use local, fresh, sustainable ingredients.I ordered the salmon hand roll lunch special which comes with udon, salad, pickles, and kimchi for an affordable $12. I don't usually like Udon (more of a Ramen girl myself) but oh boy was it good. The hand roll was equally delicious. The salmon was super fresh and buttery. I ordered to go, nonetheless the staff was extremely attentive and kind.I'll definitely be coming back again to try their super creative rolls! More...
I am so thrilled that I live around the corner from Oita Sushi! It is a new little sushi spot and it is so cute and the people who work there are super nice. I ordered the sashimi with a side of brown rice and I LOVED IT! Charming, high quality sushi with great service. YUM. More...
I never write reviews, but this place was so great I had to give my support. They have a very clean restaurant with a sweet aesthetic. We got food to go and everything was great. The vegetable roll was excellent! I don't think I have ever had a veggie roll made so well. Miso soup and veggie gyoza were also super solid. Can't wait to go again. More...
A nice place for a quick lunch. It's very small and casual inside. Only good for parties of 1 or 2 people. Probably better for takeout. I dropped in while out running some errands and had the lunch special: small udon noodle soup, salad, pickles, kimchi and choice of a few rolls. I got the shrimp tempura, which included avocado and crab rolled in there. All for $13 plus tax. I'll definitely be back. More...
Great neighborhood find! The staff are all incredibly friendly, and the curry udon is unique and tasty. Definitely recommend this place!
Great place for sushi and soup!I recommend the curry udon or Korean spicy ramen. Very friendly staff! Worth checking out.
So glad this place is in the neighborhood.. I LOVE it. I've had some of their veggie sushi, curry udon (the best thing I tried), and some of the different pickled vegetables.. it's so, so good and the staff is really friendly. More...
My boyfriend found this place on Yelp and we ordered takeout which was amazing. The people were so nice and friendly, it was clean and cozy and the sushi, mostImportantly, was delicious. Even the pork Gyoza and shumai were great. And the udon was amazing. I would highly recommend it. So fresh, healthy and delicious!!!!! More...
Sushi is awesome. Others take note, this is how is should. So fresh, so clean and so tasty. The udon is off the hook as well.
As we know, there are few good sushi/noodle places on the upper east side. This teeny tiny new place, which is inexpensive and cute and very clean, is a real neighborhood find. They make everything very fresh and healthy, all vegetable broths, extremely flavorful, no MSG, the sushi is inventive and very very good, and the people who own the place and work there (it is of course a family business) could not be sweeter and lovelier. The menu is also teeny tiny but I've been now several times, for lunch and dinner, eat in and take out, and it has been consistently wonderful every time. The place has a few spots at the sushi bar and two small tables that hold 2 people each or 4 people if you use them both. I want everyone to come support this newcomer so they survive the second avenue subway construction! They deserve to thrive! More...
I am really, really happy I found another place to eat around here!! I passed by on Monday and picked up a Salmon Caprese roll.. It was so delicious and super fresh! The ingredients are unique- my roll had beets, quinoa, avocado, mozzarella cheese, and baked salmon. OMG! So GOOD! I came back the day after for their Manhattan Sushi Roll + Oita Udon set. It was really a steal for the UES and I was full until well past dinner time. It's a small little shop with two mini tables and a row of seating for 5 or so. If you're having noodles, it's probably best to stay in but, otherwise- I'd take to go!Really happy to have Oita in the neighborhood!! More...
The sushi taste as good as it looks. Each sushi is crafted with the finest ingredients that can be indulged in every bite. The staff is super friendly and you can even buy flowers that add to the ambiance. Great for a take out or sit in. I would highly recommend making your own sushi for fun! More...
Overall a great restaurant- I tried the Happy Salmon from the recommendation of a friend. The combination of mango, asian pear and salmon creates a new world of taste- a great combo of freshness, sweetness and just enough unami. Everybody should try this. Highly recommended! More...
What delicious sushi! Prompt service, big smiles, and quality fresh food. We were originally only ordering the noodles, but after the sushi chef offered us some salmon over rice we were hooked and had to order more sushi to go! We will definitely be going back! The upper east side needs more quality sushi joints like this one! More...
Wandered into this new sushi - udon - ramen place on a whim. Discovered heaven. Lovely setting. Absolutely fresh farmers market to table ingredients -- tastefully combined. The salmon caprese roll was delicious. The vegetarian udon rich and sublime. Charming, prompt and thoughtful service. Moderate prices. A very welcome addition to the neighborhood. It is small, though, and will fill up as people find it. That almost convinced me to keep the secret to myself. But this healthy and scrumptious place deserves to succeed. More...
Wow another sushi restaurant on Second Avenue ! They replace Gem Sushi in the same location. The restaurant has been remodeled and seats more than before. You can create your own sushi in two steps. Step one is adding the base which includes shrimp, salmon, crab , striped bass for $4 or tuna, yellowtail, smoked salmon and eel for $5. Step 2 is for avocado, mango! , jalapeno etc for just $1. I tried the assorted roll oita combo (10 pcs) for $14 and it was delicious! The ingredients were fresh especially the salmon! I want to try their curry udon soup in my next visit. More...
