I was coming over to Hawaii for a work conference and had one extra day for myself. I was thinking about renting a car and just fending for myself, but I decided to do some internet searches and came across these guys. I figured let someone who knows the island and the locations show me around, since I only had the single day. I ended up booking a full day tour. It turns out that I was the only one booked for the tour on a Saturday and they wanted to see if I could do the tour on Sunday? I told them the situation and instead of canceling, they basically took me out for my own personal tour.I wasn't totally sure about getting up so early, but the sunrise pictures I got made the whole trip for me. They rest of the tour was icing on the cake. Alex, the tour guide, knew some great locations and had a story to tell about each place.I couldn't have asked for more from these guys. This is one of my favorite experiences for the whole trip to Oahu. Alex is a friendly, knowledgeable and experienced guide. His company has provided me with joy, difference, and learning. I booked the North Shore Sunset and had so much fun. I've been to Hawaii many times and I never had something similar to this. It's memorable. I highly recommend you to book one of the packages. My tour guides were DJ and Calvin! They were both friendly and really awesome tour guides. They really showed what they loved about the island! They were also very flexible with the group, stopping to take certain photos or stopping to visit a local shrimp food truck. They really wanted us to fall in love with the island and they really accomplished that! I can’t rave enough about them. They made my trip to O’ahu that much more better! I took the photo tour and they showed me how to take great landscape photos that I will treasure forever in my phone. They are worth the price, worth the money, worth the experience you’ll never forget.Also we met Alex( the owner) on the Dole visitor center and he didn’t get a picture with our tour group it was funny to see the tour guides play pranks on each other and have a good vibe in the company. My friend who was a first visitor to Hawaii want to go on a photo tour. I booked a tour and Alex picked us up at our hotel. There were four of us and our equipment was from professional camera to an iPhone. Alex took us to various beautiful locations and assisted everyone equally. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and gave everyone great tips on angles and compositions. He gave us a brief history lesson on Hawaiian culture. He also knew all the names of the various flowers and wildlife we came across. His passion for photography and Hawaiian culture is quite evident. Alex exudes "Ohana". It was a pleasure having him as our guide. My friend and I are "hooked" and plan to book at least one tour every time we come back to visit Hawaii. More...

Oahu Photography ToursAfter booking our flight to O’ahu for our honeymoon, I started googling “things to do in O’ahu.” I came across O’ahu photography tours. As I read the description for the “Instagram Hawaii Tour” I thought to myself, this is EXACTLY the type of thing i want to do! The tour totally lived up to our expectations and more. Our tour guide, Dee-Jay, is a master of his craft. Not only is he clearly knowledgeable and passionate about photography but also an amazing tour guide. At the end of the day my husband and I talked about how we felt like he was an old friend we were meeting up with to show us around the island. He was extremely friendly and easy to talk to and get along with and talked about whatever we wanted to talk about. We’ve been in some scenarios on other tours/ in other cities where the guide isn’t exactly social and it can get pretty awkward, especially on a smaller/ more intimate tour but that was not the case here at all. We went on a weekday which probably had some of the destinations a little less crowded than the weekend and made for great pictures. Dee-Jay took us all over the island and tailored our route to the things we wanted to see. Note: you do NOT have to be a professional or even a self proclaimed photographer to go on this tour! I am an “iPhone photographer” aka basically all the pictures I take are for social media. I would consider myself pretty experienced when it comes to using my iPhone but Dee-Jay showed me some tips and tricks that enhanced my iPhone photography skills as well as an editing app that i had never heard of before but now have already started using for my vacation photos. We only brought our phones on this tour (not a digital camera or DSLR) and it was definitely sufficient. We were picked up and dropped off to and from our hotel. He didn’t need navigation and was familiar with all routes, which made us feel confident. He shared with us fun facts about different places all around the island and took us to cool spots that I know we otherwise would not have found. Clearly he’s got the island hospitality thing down! Dee-Jay took pictures of us at each stop and we had a link to the photos before we even got upstairs to our hotel room after getting dropped off! This is a genius business model and we felt like it was absolutely worth the money. I have to admit, when I booked this I was really hoping this wouldn’t be something my husband would roll his eyes about, being an “Instagram photography tour” and all, but he had a blast too. It was great. I tried signing up for the sunrise photography tour and they were booked so I did the Instagram photo tour instead. We went to several scenic locations. Alex was our guide and he gave us a lot of insight on some of the history and culture, as well as dos and Dont's for our trips. He was very knowledgeable with photography in regards to angles and lighting. He had a waterproof camera that was cool too. We stopped at a food truck for lunch and had delicious tacos. I found Oahu Photography Tours on Yelp, so happy that I did. This was my 6th trip to Hawaii and wanted to experience something different to the same old tourist tours. Our guide was De-Jay, he kept us entertained and was very informative with local knowledge and different brands of cameras and phones. During my stay on Oahu I went out on 4 tours with OPT - The Sunrise Circle, Both Sunset tours and the Night Photography tour. I was lucky enough to meet three of the guides - Kurt, Mac and Adam and they were all fantastic. All of tours offered amazing sites and great photography locations. All of the guides were fun and friendly and kept the day informative and entertaining. Loved stopping off at the food trucks to try some local cuisine. I highly recommend these guys and I’ll be trying to organize a tour when I’m back again next year! Thank you!! More...

Amazing.Our guide Kurt- delivered well-researched information in a conversation format. I have visited the area for 40 years and I gained new knowledge during this tour. He was easy going and made the day special.In addition Kurt's photography skills were second to none- and he was apply to teach simple concepts to us to enhance our photos. He taught me tips and tricks with both my Canon and my iphone.All of the tours offered have these talented and knowledgeable guides- so it the timing doesn't work on one tour- book another. This tour was the highlight of my family's entire trip. Mac was our tour guide and he went above and beyond to make us feel like his Ohana. Having previously been stationed on Oahu, my fiancé and I thought we'd seen it all. We couldn't have been more wrong. Mac showed us sites and trails that we'd never seen, was super informative about the island's history, made us laugh so hard our abs were given the best workout in ages, and made my heart smile by the compassion and empathy he showed when we realized a lens I'd brought for my tour, had been damaged during our flight over. He actually allowed me to use his own personal wide angle lens to take some amazing landscape shots that I would've otherwise missed! Talk about taking care of your clients! :) And in this day in age when all most 15 yr olds want to do is use their phones for social media, Mac got my daughter excited about taking photos with her phone, and helped guide her during the tour so that she was successful at taking some amazing shots! 5 stars don't seem like enough! Had an amazing experience from purchasing the tickets, timely pickup, friendly staff to photo tour guides. Our photo guides Mack and Kurt were professional and extremely knowledgeable with photography. They explained some of the photo scenes and the best ways to capture them using an iphone or DSLR. Alex and Kurt were awesome! The shuttle picked us up super close to our hotel and we were graciously welcomed.Both hosts were super informative not only of photography but of Oahu and we had a wonderful time not only taking photos, but learning about the island as well. We were in Oahu for our anniversary week and our photo tour was definitely one of the high points. Our only regret was that we wished we had booked a longer tour! We took amazing photos not only with our DSLR but the spots are so beautiful, an iPhone was just as good. Pilot, Stephen, was Great! Felt so safe and secure in the awesome helicopter. Just wish Moana Loa had not been covered in clouds so we could have seen her! And seen more waterfalls. Very impressed with the knowledge of the pilot in answering questions and describing what we were seeing. Would absolutely go again if we ever return to Hawaii. And hope for clearer skies! My husband and I did a private north shore tour with Alex. If your looking to do something a little different to the big cookie cutter tours this is it. It was the best 8 hours.
