What makes a great website?
We make great websites! And I have been building sites since 1994. In 2017 I joined Wildfire Group because our philosophies on building relationships were a match on being top priority. We also build our sites to Google pagespeed standards and launch sites in the 90th percentile. Not sure what that means? I would love to tell you all about it and how it will make you look like a rockstar when the site generates new customers and your paid campaigns go crazy!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Tell me about your business and your current website marketing. What are your goals for a website for today, six months from now and even in a year or longer? How important is responsive website design to you? Do you understand what that is? Where do you place SEO on your list of what's important in a website? Do you understand how important building your site to Google pagespeed requirements is to your business?
What information do you need from a client before you start work?
It depends on the project(s). If we are working together on a logo for a new business we discuss vision and what the company does. Most have something in mind and it is important to me to incorporate that vision and refine it to something the public will recognize. Then we talk about the importance of choosing the right colors. All logos are designed in a vector format and I always provide at least three designs - one that is the customers vision and a couple others that their vision inspires.
What sorts of printing projects do you usually cater for?
I have done everything from billboards to business cards. I've designed wraps for trucks and cars and semi trailers. Lots of swag for local musicians over the years as well as posters, banners, stage scrims, apparel and so much more - very fun design projects! I can set up a new business with letterhead, notecards, envelopes, business cards, signage for their building as well as for trade shows. Really I have not come across a print project I could not take care of!
Describe your creative process.
It begins with the first conversation. By the time we sit down to design your site we understand what your business is about, your basic aesthetic expectations, colors you would like used, etc. Each site we design is representative of our customers and our joined efforts to create a beautiful , fast and high functioning SEO ready website that takes your business to new levels.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
We have this process streamlined! After a proposal and terms are accepted we send you a digital questionaire. Once this is filled out and returned you get a site mockup (or maybe a couple) within a few days. We also use a project management program that we add our customers to so you can see whats going on every step of the way and even interact with us as needed. We make it easy for you to focus on what you need to do while we build out your new website.
What do you love most about your job?
Building relationships with new people and businesses. Learning about what's most important and guiding when necessary. We are here every step of the way and our customers always know where we are in the process.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I thought it was about freedom but it is actually about being able to do things the best way instead of only one way. Each design job is unique and is treated as such.
