Newhall Press Room

This is our second time to visit this inviting restaurant. We got seated right away and the servers were very welcoming.  When we got the menu, I noticed the bottomless mimosa for $12.  It's like a good deal.  Instead of ordering my usual chardonnay, I ordered the bottomless mimosa. I want to find out how often I would get a refill.  It did not disappoint, I got 2 more refills.  I got the delicious speedy flat bread while my husband got the grilled cheese with the awesome tomato and basil soup.  We enjoyed our visit except for one hiccup. When we got the bill, my husband noticed that we got charged $17 for the bottomless mimosa, a 42% increase from the published price.  My husband got a copy of the menu and checked the others.  All copies that he checked has $12 price.  We asked the server, Grace about the price change and she said that she has been charging $17 since she started working at this place.  She said that that the menu we had was an old one.  Well, I expected her to honor the published price, but she said it's really $17.  The amount in question is miniscule. It's not a reason for an argument with the server.  I would expect the owner not to "bait and switch."  If the owner really intended to change the price, they can easily print a new menu to reflect the price changes.  The restaurant deserves the right to charge less than the stated price on the menu but not permitted to charge more that price stated on the menu.  I really like this place to be successful but they owners must watch out their practices to stay long in this business. Our new favorite restaurant in Santa Clarita.  The Pressroom has a great wine list that is very reasonably priced and a large assortment of local craft beers.  The food is excellent with several dishes, among others, featuring homemade pasta, a large selection of small bites and several different charcuterie boards.  Service is very friendly and knowledgeable about both the food and the wines.  This restaurant definitely improves the quality of dining in Santa Clarita. WOW! This place is great! Downtown Newhall has really stepped up in having a nice area to walk around and grab a bite/drink that's not your typical chain restaurant. Newhall Press Room definitely did not disappoint! The service was top notch! The food was amazing! My Mom actually said "I can not die knowing I've had a really good steak," and my sister also said it was the best steak she's ever had. My cousin and I loved the wine as well, great choices!! Cute restaurant in Old Town Newhall. We sat outside initially, but there was a bit of a problem with a couple flies that refused to leave us alone, so they readily let us come inside. A delicious and unexpected surprise. We started with the brussel sprout appetizer with bleu cheese. It was very good and large enough for two people. As an entrée my wife had fettuccine with shrimp. The pasta was homemade and worth taking home.  I had the short ribs Bolognese with homemade pasta which was as good as I've ever had.  They have an extensive wine list and a number of beers on tap. Had a great dinner with friends tonight at Newhall Press Room!  Delicious food along with excellent and friendly service! (the manager even came by to introduce himself and shake each of our hands) We really enjoyed the short rib pasta dish and short rib grilled cheese . One of my friends had dined in the past and said how knowledgeable owner, Dan and other employees are about the various wine options.  We finished the evening sharing a wonderful cinnamon roll dessert....already planning my next visit with family.  I've had brunch before as well....fantastic! I went there Monday night with a friend for the first time to grab a light dinner.  All I can say is "Wow".   Besides the excellent reviews that drew me, I happened to have worked with Dan, the owner, in the corporate world many years back.  His crossover to the culinary and dining world is impressive.  My friend wanted something light so she ordered a beer and the pretzel twists, which are served with 2 mustard dipping sauces.  She took one bite - opened her eyes and declared "Oh my god - you *have* to try this!"   I took a piece off, dipped it, and I was there too. The softness, seasoning and texture is almost indescribable.  It's light, buttery and savory all at once.  Given my love for tomato soup, I tried the short rib grilled cheese which comes with a side of tomato soup.  It was a great choice.  The meat was soft, tasteful and perfectly cooked inside the sandwich.  The tomato soup just put it over the top. Since the meal size was perfect - filling but not overly full - I decided to try the chocolate Pot de Creme as dessert.  I love chocolate.  And I couldn't get enough of this.  It was truly perfection.  The atmosphere is quaint - not too formal but more than casual.  Again, just right and striking a balance that makes you not want to leave, you're so relaxed.  I definitely will be back - mainly because choosing what to eat was thoughtful.  There are so many good choices and unique food items, there will certainly be something for everyone each time they return.  This place is not to be missed.  If I could give it more stars I would.  It's just that good. This is a great place for dinner and wine.  The food is higher end.  Each time we have had a great cheese plate along with our wine.  The selection of wine is very large and there is something for everyone with every price point. The staff are extremely friendly and supportive.  They have made us feel welcome every time we have come there. On Friday and Saturday they have live music starting at 9 Pm.  The place is relatively small with 5 tables on the inside and a bar which allows people to eat at the bar seating 10 or so.  There is also a patio with couches out front.  However, if you are eating rather than just drinking wine and some cheese, it may be a little difficult.  This place is a welcome addition to old town newhall and the greater Santa Clarita Valley restaurant scene. Big fan of Newhall Press Room.I'm not an avid wine drinker, but I appreciate the selection of wines available; the generous pours and the ambiance. The charcuterie boards are fantastic, as well as the dinner options.  If the weather is nice, I recommend a patio seat for the people watching and fresh air. My husband and I have been here for brunch several times now. We've ordered the same dishes, and there have been some inconsistencies. I've had the Open Territory five times - three were awesome. The short rib is tender and flavorful, meaty and delicious. Two times, they've been very dry, and almost jerky like texture. I order my eggs over medium, so they don't completely run out, but just enough. Three times, they've been over medium, one completely overdone, one completely under. The potatoes underneath when done properly have a delicious spicy peppery undertone unlike any other home fry taste I've ever had before, but if the potatoes get overcooked, since they are chopped so small, they are almost inedible. That being said - when it is done well, it is *amazing* My husband gets the Napoli Omelet, and has had the Sequoia Omelet once, and both have been excellent. The Sequoia Omelet had no faults, it's just the Napoli Omelet was sooo good. The really hard not to order item on the menu is the cinnamon rolls. Omg are they amazing. Then but some bacon on them. Yup, drop the mic. My husband and I usually watch what we eat very carefully. If we're going to NPR, we have a silent pact to throw it all out the window because we know we are getting those cinnamon rolls! We love going to NPR, we just have to save enough good days so that we can dig into those cinnamon rolls again. :) More...

We love dining on Main St. More & more great restaurants and no chains. Tonight was our first visit here (but definitely not the last)! Started with the Farm beet salad which was unique and excellent! My wife ordered Surfer's Delight (homemade fettuccine and shrimp). I ordered the sous vide hanger steak with herbed goat cheese compound butter and port wine demiglace. This was my first time having sous vide - now I'll be buying a sous vide oven!! Not only was the food amazing but it was plated beautifully. We finished with Mason-jar Heaven - sous vide vanilla cheesecake. This review is so grossly overdue but that tells you that months and months later I still think about our evening at NPR.  First, the accessibility to wines that we would never have selected .  Such great suggestions!  Second, the most wonderful menu and the evening just flowed together seamlessly.  Dan made our evening by helping us select dishes that complemented the wines... or maybe it was the other way around.  A night to remember and we hope to make the trek back to Newhall!!!
