I've been waiting for 5 years to redo my kitchen. Finally we found the company that could really get the job done and make us happy. Never in my life have I thought it will be such a smooth process, from the initial meeting which lasted 5 hours (we had so much fun) which included design, pricing and explaination of the process to the actual remodel that was just flawless. Everything was planned ahead, all the crews had a written scope of work pertains to each one separately, they cleaned up every day, sent us an email every evening of what will happen tomorrow and always answered our questions politely. We were a little scared signing the deal on the dot, but our gut feeling wasn't wrong. Highly recommend using need for build. I highly recommend contacting Need for Build for your next home improvement project. My partner and I contacted Need for Build to provide us with a quote for a few outdoor projects. We are new homeowners and ended up being a little overwhelmed by putting so much money into our house in the first year, so decided to defer some of the projects on our list. However, we chose Need for Build to replace our front "staircase" - old, rotting, railroad ties which led down to our walkway. Now we have a beautifully designed, safe, concrete staircase with in-stair lighting. Many of our neighbors have stopped by to compliment Need for Build's work.Reasons to choose Need for Build:(1) They are dependable. They started the project the day they said they would and finished ahead of schedule.(2) They know their stuff. We felt confident they were giving us good advice about what materials and design elements would work best to meet our needs. For example, initially we wanted a smooth concrete surface but our contractor highly recommended using a brushed surface to reduce the slipperiness: We are very glad we listened!(3) They were flexible. After the initial framing was complete, my partner realized he wanted one of the platforms to be longer than were in the initial design specs. Need for Build allowed us to make the change for a reasonable fee.(4) They follow the rules. Doing things legally as a contractor in the state of CA, with its many rules and regulations, has to be a headache, but it was clear Need for Build is committed to staying in compliance.(5) They have respectful crews. Finally a construction company that actually does what it says it will. We just moved to San Diego from Los Angeles, The house we bought was built in the 50s, I was so scared of what will be found behind the walls which was always the reason I delayed this project. After checking 5 contractors I decided to go with need for build for 3 reasons: 1. Great reputation (they are highly recommended on next door app) 2. Great price and quality. They offered me a great promotion if we move forward at the initial meeting which made it a great deal. (To be honest was a little scared to commit, but thank god I said yes). 3. They promised me we will start and finish the project at the same price, no hidden charges no extra charges. They definitely kept their promise. What we have found behind the walls could have easily been another big hit on our pockets, but those guys didn't charge me a dime extra. Because we used Need For Build we now have a backyard we love.  Rachel's presentation was solid.  She made us feel that the company knew exactly how to get the space we wanted.  The crew showed up on time and started right in with the demolition of the old yard, digging up lots of dirt and taking it away in their truck.  They prepped both spaces for the flagstone and the turf the first day.  The next day they arrived with the flagstone we ordered and they picked up for us.  They made sure we were happy with the layout and proceeded to make it look so beautiful.  I thought the turf would take another day, but no, it was installed the same day.  They treated the turf (we have a dog) and cleaned up the stonework after laying in the DG that we used as "grout".  It was done! We couldn't thank them enough.  I showed family pictures of the finished yard and one of them said it looked like something out of Better Homes and Gardens.  I feel the same.  I love walking back there now and seeing the lovely space where we can enjoy on our own or with friends.  Thanks to Need for Build.  I've included some before and after pics. I can't describe in words what I feel about this company, as a single mom that can easily be taken advantage, I can't appreciate enough the kind of treatment I got from this company, they just didn't leave me alone at any stage, from design all the way to the finished project they held my hand and showed me that a remodeling project shouldn't be stressful. Sagi, you are one of the most amazing person I met, thank you for letting me feel so comfortable throughout this whole process, I can't thank you enough. Our first major home renovation project required Contractors with above average communication, quality experience, and patience to educate us in the process. Jonathan and his team met our high standards. He always conducted face to face consultations going over all the work step by step, coordinated all the work for the project, and answered all our questions and calls. We also worked with their experienced and knowledgeable landscape architect who walked us through design, developed blueprints, and, between him and Jonathan, did all the work to obtain permits.The Project:They excavated through a large hill giving us about 400 sq. ft of living space and built a sturdy retaining that will last a lifetime! (See pictures)The Money:Jonathan was always considerate of our budget. I found their pricing to be reasonable and well worth what we paid. I witnessed his team working hard every day through 90 degree heat and still be friendly and helpful. I completely see and understand where our money went to. We invested in our home, good quality workers, precious square feet with a retaining wall built to last, and outstanding customer service. I received a call from Danny, the owner of Need For Build, who was really apologetic and offered to meet me again to review my current project. I decided to give it another chance as I realized he is genuinely trying to help out and had good intentions. We met today, Tue Jul 30th for two hours! I couldn't believe it. He was very professional and straight forward with my project needs. I was that blown away by his professionalism and honesty that on the way out I greeted him "Have a great weekend", its Tuesday... Any who, Danny is genuine person, very professional and honest. He didn't try to over sell me on anything, on the contrary he came up with some great cost effective ideas for my backyard project. Highly recommend getting a quote fromAvi at Need for Build for landscaping projects.  Good quality and once the project is started, it is completed quickly.  Front yard: synthetic turf and a low stone wall.  Side yard: cast-in-place concrete pavers and rock, new vinyl gate and fencing.  Backyard: synthetic putting green.  They have a separate crew that only installs artificial turf.  They made sure that the surface was prepared properly to get smooth roll and used concrete around the holes to be sure the ball didn't do anything funny right at the cup.  The construction started on Jan 2 and was completed Jan 9.  They had as many as 9 workers on site.  Avi dropped by everyday to make sure questions or issues were dealt with quickly.  Recently had an issue with some wrinkles in the turf that was fixed promptly. We had Need for Build take care of our landscape/hardscape. We changed out our natural grass to decomposed granite and artificial grass. Finding a contractor can be difficult & stressful. We are happy with the work Need for Build did for us. We needed a custom patio re-done as our old one was falling apart. We first called a patio company but they said they were not able to build it the way we wanted. Need for Build was able to accommodate us. Their workers did an excellent job. So recently I went through about 8 or so quotes to get the back yard done. After talking to David the first time, by the next morning the quote was ready, unlike other who took 3 days to  weeks or never even gave me a final quote. At first I were unsure how it was going to go because they were so quick they wanted to lock in a contract and offered us 20%discount then and there only.  They are not the cheapest  so the discount made them  bit more comparable to others quotes.Originally we were looking to add a retaining wall roughly 3ft tall and 60ft long pushing the. Little hill in the back about 4 or 5 feet closer to the fence line. We also wanted to remove our grass area and put slab. The day we started the work Jonathan gave us an offer to replace existing concrete, price was fair so we  went with it.  The appearance would have bothered me with new slab and old slab and weird design not matching.Few days later Jonathan gave us another offer to do both sides of the house,but we were already in to a pricey project so eventually agreed to doing the larger  side so that the kids could make use of it. In the end we did 2 of 3 sides of the house and the work went fast, the crew was respectful,quick and easy to work with.  In the end the yard was over 3x the size of useable space. We now can have the kids bday parties here,easier for  guest when I bbq,and just more room for the kids to run and play on.As far as the work  some people  lay rebar at 36x36 they do 18x18 roughly and the 3ft wall footing others offered 12x12 they did 18x18 as well, they do compaction a few times to make sure the floor is solid.All the work took almost 2 weeks, very quick.Pros:1.Fast response to any issues2.Friendly 3.They take pride in their work4.Thank you flowers were sent after completion5.They get the job done quickly.6.12Yr. warranty on Concrete( larger than hairline cracks or uneven levels they will repair or replace)7.15Yr. warranty on retaining wall.(leaning bubbling or cracking gets repaired or repalced)8.Fuly licensed and insured,also they background checks on their workers, who are supposed to carry a card on them that can be verified.(I never asked to see one)Cons:1.They didn't have dumpsters planned out for 2 different occasions, so I had a 15'x8' concrete  pile on the asphalt and also same size pile with dirt. I have H.O.A so told them that cant happen again. They had the pile picked up the next morning for both times.2.They didnt place plastic on the side of the house while pouring so I had some concrete on the side of the house. Luckily I had the exterior paint still so they removed what they could and painted over the rest.3.Had to have them come back and clean the street  and few spots of to make it look as it did originally.4.Price wasn't the cheapest, but they are fully covered/insured as well as their workers and  we needed that incase anything happens since our backyard faces a street we don't want the liability to fall on us if anything collapses.Overall we are happy with the work and the time frame they did a great job in the end. We came across Need for Build from a recommendation both through work and through the Next Door app. We've had a couple of horrible "catch a contractor" type situations in the past with jobs left for me to complete when most/all of the money had been paid. Not this time - Danny and Avi came to our home, assessed our needs and tastes and wrote up a quote for a complete bathroom remodel. What made them stand out was that Danny provided some pretty creative and artistic design ideas on the spot and offered to meet us at the local Floor and Decor store to help decide on the final design while choosing the tile, grout color, etc. Their involvement through this phase and Danny's eye for design really made this part an enjoyable experience.Following that, the crews that were sent were incredibly efficient, clean and showed up like clock work every day. The bathroom came out on budget, on time and looks incredible!During the bathroom remodel, we decided to hire them for a second job - to replace our entire home's carpet with wood flooring. Quick tip.. I'd never recommend anyone to do two major constuction projects at the same time while living in the home - especially right before Christmas. But that was our own crazy decision. The flooring install progressed pretty quickly and Danny and Avi made sure that every little thing was taken care of before signing off and making final payment - and we were able to decorate everything in time for the holidays!What we realized afterward was that the way the floor installer put down the stairs was not what we had in mind. He has used a moulding/lip front edge rather than a flat "bullnose" design. It was not very comfortable when walking up and down. We brought it to Danny's attention and he brought out a crew to redo the stairs to our satisfaction! No arguing, no haggling for additional cost - just a great company standing behind their work.For these reasons, I will be using them again when we begin our next projects to improve our home. So you are looking for a contractor for a big project These are your guys! My project was a front and backyard full re-model. It included taking out a huge tree, re-leveling the whole back yard, pushing back a hill, building a retaining wall and more. From start to finish, this team was extra professional.  Everything was explained perfectly from the start, I never felt like I was out of the loop or unclear about any aspect of the job. The guys who came to do the work were kind and respectful. They even played with my dog on their lunch break. All the work turned out beautiful (see pictures). There were a few bumps in the road as there are with any project. My concerns were addressed immediately and appropriately. The response was above and beyond what you would expect from a normal company. They fixed things as soon as they were noticed and the end result is amazing ! The lead (Jonathan) was ALWAYS available via phone to talk about the project and he was at the site checking in daily. They finished well within their stated timeline. I didn't have to pay for each portion until it was done. They really went above and beyond for a good final project. Amazing experience! We moved to SD in 2013 and bought a house with good bones but we knew we would have to remodel it piece by piece as our budget allowed. Having not had a good experience with our kitchen and 2 other bathroom remodel as, we sought out a new company. We had our original 30 year old second bathroom completely redone by Avi. After several quotes from other companies that were out of our price range, to complete no-shows, we had a new bathroom in 2 weeks! Replaced the shower/tub combo with a walk-in shower, new vavity, toilet and tiled floor (love the tile). I originally found Danny and Need for Build off a recommendation on the Next Door app. I first needed something minor done at the house (replacing a fire door) but told him I needed to redo my patio/staircase that leads up to the front door. We had contacted so many other contractors, but Danny was the most responsive and very fair with his pricing. He's constantly in contact with you during the process - from the design, through the demo, and every day during the build. He picks up when you call - something I found very rare with all the other contractors I've dealt with in the past. He's got an amazing and reliable team. It's very refreshing to know that when a contractor says that they will show up at 8am, that they actually show up at 8am. My project finished on time and couldn't be happier with the work. The craftsmanship and the fine detail was amazing. We loved his work so much that I'm currently redoing my backyard with Need For Build. We shopped around a while, meeting with various contractors to assess our project. Our problem was a growing soft spot in the sub-flooring beneath our pre-fab shower tub unit.

Danny came to our condominium and talked us through the entire process. His numbers and timeline were right for us, and his recommendations were sound. There was no halfassing this project, as doing so would end up costing us more money and time in the future.

The Need For Build team shuffled its schedule around to complete our project, helped us select tile, fixtures, and tub, then stayed engaged throughout demo, multiple inspections, tiling, etc. We even had a hiccup with a neighbor's leaky tub, which required some extra ceiling repair (and a short delay in the project). The team was patient as we worked through this unforeseen circumstance.

The outcome is a simple, clean, high-quality upgrade to our small (and only) bathroom. New plumbing, added moisture/mold protection, tiling up to the ceiling, and new fixtures, tub, and shower door. We are quite happy with the work and recommend the Need for Build team to anyone. More...

I need to give a well deserved review for Danny and his team at Need for Build. This is the first remodel my husband and I have done and Danny was with us every step of the way. We reached out to a few companies and Danny was the one we knew we had to go with. He made us feel so comfortable and guided us each and every day. He has multiple projects going on, but you would never know that based on his involvement and quick response time. Even my 10 year old said he wanted to go with Danny! What sets them a part is the fact that you receive a quote the day Danny comes out to view your project. This cuts down on time and allows you to start your project right away. I truly feel like he is part of the family. We were so impressed with crew as well. He managed our project and was there, on time, each time he said he would be. We had piece of mind knowing we were getting high quality work done. We have already decided to start our next project and of course we chose Need for Build to complete the work. Jonathan and the need for build team are great!
I hired Jonathan to remodel my kitchen and unlike most people who would tell you that it was a complete headache, our experience was great!
From the precise 3D to the execution of the work, everything was a pleasant ride. All work done with permits and inspections, licensed, bonded and insured. I will definitely use them for future projects! More...
