My mom and I came here years ago so it was fun to return while we were nearby today. It's nice that there's no entry fee, and there's still stuff to do on a weekday though less than the weekend. (Wish there were cider and donuts today, though!) We enjoyed the affordable giftshop, buying some fall decor trinkets and some apple butter and honey, then roamed a bit. There are cool carved wood pieces everywhere to see (bears, owls, pumpkin on a man's head) so those are fun to find. We love the little houses and the "How tall this fall?" yardstick (I have not grown or shrunk since the last time, haha). It's also cool to look across the land at the sea of pumpkins waiting to be bought! The animals are cute but remind me that I am a city girl, haha. It was fairly busy on a Friday afternoon: us, some families with kids and a group of crazy teen girls doing a scavenger hunt.  I can't imagine the crowds on a weekend! Come on down to Channahon before the pumpkins get picked over and have some fall fun at Dollinger. More...

We had a great time! My 3 year old loved all of the play houses and the pirate ship was his favorite. My 11 year old daughter fell in love with the bunnies. I think she visited the bunny snuggling station a good 6-7 times. Great place to go for some free/inexpensive fun! More...

This Farm had beautiful grounds, lots to do and so affordable as you can choose what you want to do. My kids loved the animals, corn maze and corn bin. They had a blast. I got some beautiful pictures. Tons of photo ops. The staff was very friendly and I purchased some honey which was delicious. I will definitely stop in at Christmas time again. More...

My family and I went yesterday and it was amazing! We got to be part of some of the first pickings, which was nice. I'm obsessed with the habinero pickles, that I bought 3 jars. lol We were informed that they started making donuts for the first time this year and got to try some. They were some of the best donuts I've ever had! Definitely recommend trying people, along with their fudge!! More...

I've been coming here forever, with my children and now grandchildren... It's local and we have a blast every time... Lots of photo ops... Inexpensive family time at its best!!!! Love, love, love!!! My only complaint is that they have so much room and the gift shop is so small and always so crowded with adults and a lot of unattended children that you can't really enjoy it....you'd think with the amount of land/space they have, they would find a better location for the gift shop...like when they moved the play houses east of the pumpkins and hay area...that allowed all the children to have way more space...maybe build a larger gift shop and you the existing gift shop building for maybe a kid friendly ( haunted/halloween house) just an idea...I know it all takes money and time...And maybe a little more variety as far as food...pizza 4 you is great but some other options may be nice...but overall its simply fabulous!!! We went to the Revolutionary War re-enactment day and it was great! Our girls were given quills and told how to make the ink for them with berries. Then we learned about dipping candles. Dollinger’s is a great place to have these activities as there’s other things to do too. THe petting zoo, picking from great pumpkins, photo shoot areas, playground areas, picnic area and concessions, and a gift shop!! More...

FREE parking, NO admission fee, a lot of activities for the kids- petting area w/ rabbits, sheep, goats, donkeys, and turkeys although you don't want to touch them. They have a large tepee, a corn bin, hayride, gift shop, and eating area w/ something for everyone. My husband recommends the mini donuts and fudge. His favorite fudge is the pumpkin nut followed closely by the dark chocolate pumpkin cheesecake and honey cashew. They have a large variety of pumpkins and I remember them ranging from $8 to $10. You can use their carts/wagons to to them to your car. I would return when my daughter is a little bit older so she can have some fun petting the animals and playing around. It's a great place to make some memories. More...

We go here every year for the fall. I love the fact that there is so much to do for free. Unlike other locations where you ave to pay just to get in. We play in the houses see all the animals take great pictures. The only things we pay for are the corn maze and train ride. Both are priced fairly and are fun for the kids. Really a great place for the family. I always buy my pumpkins here to support the farm. More...

I wasn't sure what to expect at this place, but I was very happily pleased! We went during the week in the morning/afternoon so there really weren't too many people there. My 4 and 2 year olds thoroughly enjoyed all of the MANY play houses and things to explore. Everything we did was free which was awesome. Free corn bin (HUGE), free play area with numerous playhouses, free farm animals to pet and look at, all in a beautiful country setting. There is a nice area with many picnic benches under the trees to bring and eat your lunch, there's also a place to buy and eat food although they were not open when we were there. We loved this place and none of the really fun things (hayride, train ride) were even running at the time. All of the employees were lovely as well. They have portable toilets. I'm not sure how much older kids would like it, but for little kids this is a wonderful place. Parking is free and there is no admission fee. I paid about $10 for 2 small pumpkins and 4 small gourds. A bargain considering the fun filled day we had. We will definitely return. More...

Our family of three always enjoys going to Dollinger's before Halloween to pick out pumpkins and enjoy the fall festivities.  The parking is free, there is no admission fee and you can visit the petting zoo & kids play area's at no cost.  When our son was little he loved playing on the hay bales, the large slide/play house and in the little houses with friends.  I enjoying browsing in the gift shop.  Always something creepy or unique in there.  Our son still loves the flavored honey sticks in the gift shop.  Always a fun time!  We will go this year and see if he still has fun at age 11!  Looking forward.  :) More...

I grew up in the city. So, this was my first pumpkin patch experience. I must say it was excellent! Did anyone mention it was FREE?! I honestly don't know how they offer so much with no admission fee. Pumpkins of all shapes and sizes, jungle gym things for the kids, pet-able goats, other farm animals as well, and concessions, a corn maze and hay rides on the weekend. We went this past Wednesday and my family including my parents and 1 & 2 year old sisters had the place mostly to ourselves and everyone had a good time. Thanks Dollinger family!! More...

The Dollinger Family Farm has become a big part of our traditional Autumn festivities. More than simply a trip to the 'pumpkin patch', Dollinger creates an amazing & sprawling experience that includes a petting zoo, hay stacks, corn maze, play village, wagon rides, food and of course, a plethora of pumpkins! The grounds are clean and inviting, the staff is warm and helpful and parking and general admission are free. In addition to the seasonal activities, the Civil War days at Dollinger Farm (mid Oct) bring an historic energy and vibrance to an already fun filled afternoon and are highly recommended! More...

Warrior Dash 2013 was a success due in large part to the perfect location and generosity of the Dollinger Family. It was the perfect venue and after driving through the pristine grounds and reading other reviews, I definitely want to visit in the fall to get the full farm experience.

Great fall escape from the city!A group of us left our usual scene in Chicago and spent a beautiful fall Saturday at Dollinger Family Farm. We did everything from hayrides, the petting zoo, pumpkin picking to a very well done corn maze. Once the sun went down, we headed across the street to the Abyss haunted house, which was beyond all my expectations. I will definitely be coming back next year. Don't forget to try the honey sticks! We love Dollinger's Farm!First, there is more FREE stuff to do here than anywhere else. Free parking is awesome! We usually go 2-3 times to do the free stuff with the kiddo (petting zoo, climbing things, houses to play in, etc), and once to actually pick pumpkins and ride the train, see the maze, etc.  If you're going for the pumpkin/fall stuff, I recommend skipping the civil war reenactment weekend; it gets a bit crowded. They also have a gift shop with all sorts of fun fall stuff. A group of pals headed to Dollinger's Farm from Chicago to spend a fall day picking out pumpkins, doing hayrides, navigating the corn maze and then heading to the Abyss haunted house.  Our expectations were exceeded in every way -- the farm is beautiful, there were lots of families, people of all ages, and everyone in our group had a blast.  There was a huge selection of pumpkins -- all way cheaper than in the city.  There were also lots of fun places for photo opps and spots to relax and enjoy an apple cider.  The corn maze was big and fun and the Abyss haunted house was so over-the-top and well-done.  Dollinger's Farm is a great way to spend a fun long day and a great escape from the city.  Our group will be making it an annual trip from this year on. This is a nice place and great for kids. Well organized and lots of educational signs around. A number of nice activities.  Food is limited, but pretty good. Train ride is pretty neat; cost is $3 per adult, $3 per child, and under children 5 must have parent ride with them. Pumpkins are expensive (e.g. pie pumpkins are $3; medium/large pumpkins are $12); worse they charge a sales tax on the pumpkins: price of pumpkins should include tax. Buy your pumpkins at nearby Heap's and then enjoy this nice place. More...
