Meze Greek Fusion

One of the best Mediterranean meals I've had in a long while! The food was so flavorful and tasty without being spicy - the exact reason I love Mediterranean cuisine! We ordered a variety of items and shared family style, which is definitely the way to go if you have a larger group. Our #1 dish was the saganaki, which is kasseri cheese that they flambe at your table - this will definitely get the attention of those sitting around you, and for good reason. There was an audible "ohhhh!" when the cheese lit on fire! The meze platter for two was another great shareable dish with plenty of variety, and they even switched out the dolma (cold) for dolmathes (warm) at no additional cost. If you are looking for a great Mediterranean joint in downtown San Diego then Meze Greek Fusion is the spot! My friends and I started with drinks and I absolutely loved the Greek honey ale which is imported from Greece. For my entree I had the chicken and beef kabob. The portions were perfect and the food was absolutely delicious. I also LOVED the hot sauce that is at ever table! Amazing atmosphere for young adults at night! Very romantic. The food was superb, as my bf is from Israel and said it was some of the best gyros he'd ever had. The pita bread was soft and fluffy, and when we asked for more it was no problem. I checked in on yelp and got a free tomato-basil hummus and it was delectable. The staff was attentive and very focused on making our date perfect. We asked if we could get on the top floor with the string lights after we came in at our reservation time, and we only had to wait an extra 5 minutes. Getting a table on the loft is definitely worth it though! Our leftovers stayed very well and we had them for dinner the next day. Definitely a highlight of our San Diego vacation! More...

From the moment The Hubby & I walked in, we felt welcome.  The servers are attentive and not overbearing. Baba Ganoush let the eggplant shine and it was served with warmed, grilled pita. Hubs had the avgolemono soup, which was hearty and light with faint notes of lemon at the end. Our waiters wine and beer suggestions were spot on - I had never had a Greek Cabernet Sauvignon before and my selection was perfectly paired with my meal. I had the spanikopita, a lovely spinach filled dough with feta; and Hubs had a combo plate of lamb, chicken, beef and shrimp.  I wish I was hungry enough to order a side of the lamb, it was that good!  Dessert was an apple/vanilla ice cream that mixed hot and cold beautifully. We went for happy our last weekend when we visited San Diego, and we couldn't be happier! Meze Greek Fusion has a super fun ambiance. We received a free appetizer for checking in through Yelp (I highly recommend the baba ganoush) which was a great perk, and our server Jen made our experience even better with her helpful recommendations and friendly personality! Our other tasty picks were the calamari (never expected such a generous portion), the dolmathes (so authentic) and the meatballs (our favorite). Everything tasted amazing, and that's coming from a Greek girl who's very "judgy" of Greek restaurants. We've already suggested this great spot to many friends and we can't wait to visit again!!!
