This gym has everything to offer, from classes, training , daycare, exercise classes for the kids , pool with slides and even a restaurant in there. I have been a member for a bit over a year now. I love the group classes and they have the most motivating instructors. Since last year I’ve done a complete body transformation and feel more like an athlete now. When I first started I could barely run on the treadmill for more than 10 minutes and now I can run for 60 minutes. The family pool is also a lot of fun and my 4 year old son would agree. The only area that needs improvement is their kids swim classes. I was never able to book a one to one swim class even though they charged me for it. I’m still waiting for a refund. So far it has been a pleasant experience. The place is clean, not too crowded (except for the pool on the weekends) and the staff is friendly. Its a bit pricey, but if you use all if it (i.e. cardio, weights, pool, classes, childcare) you can get your money's worth. The military discount doesn't hurt either. More...

I've been a member for a few months now. The #1 thing that strikes me about this club (White Marsh) is that it SHOULD be a 5-star top tier club. ..and it's own management is sabotaging it.

Put me in charge of it and here are simple changes I would make:

1) Hands down, #1 problem is their event management. I talk to longer time members, and they say this has been a problem for months. These guys change event times or cancel, and there's NO notification. Why isn't someone at the White Marsh gym updating this/their website? The Y has a texting service that lets you know when events are canceled, or postponed. How does this not exist here? It's not member friendly.

2) This gym has an AMAZING free weights area, except for one thing - not enough 45lb plates. It's well stocked in every other plate except this. The first thing they should buy, today, is another 20 45 lb plates.
Or, even better, buy 4 100lb plates (and say, another 12-14 45's) for all the knuckleheads who like to load up the leg press with 500+ pounds and do quarter reps and make believe they have leg strength, and leave the 45's for the rest of us.
Point is, there's a massive shortage of 45 lb plates during high volume times. Substantial.

2a) Additionally, they'd be smart to invest in 4-6 45 lb bumper plates for people who deadlift. Just educate folks so they understand they don't actually have to use more than one on each side.
It'll reduce noise and potential damage on the floor.

3) Water fountains: Seriously, how do you spend all of this money on a new, state of the art facility, and you have some of the crappiest water. Some of it tastes legitimately like pool water in the summer. I'm told not only do other Merritt's have filtered water, but they have the vertical fountain extension where you can easily fill up a tall bottle. Why is this lacking here?

So, all this said, it's still a really good place to lift but boy, I tell you what, they could be doing better than they are, and it wouldn't be terribly expensive to do.

Their pool area is very good as well, although I understand it was supposed to be enclosed and year round so a lot of the original members got bait and switched on that.

The main reason we joined is because both my wife and I train powerlifting style, and they have a very good amount of places to squat. The overall cost, factoring in the pool, made the most sense to us as we have a 10 year old and pool only memberships are just ridiculous in price for the frequency in which we'd actually use it.

The Merritt provides both of our desires, we also have some people we know who are members which is an added bonus...and the price is reasonable enough. More...

Love all the amenities the gym has to offer. We have been using the pool a lot and last week I remember the music on and audible and this past week NOTHING. I mean according to the pool deck managers it was on but the only way you were hearing it is if you were sitting under the speaker. Music was a great addition to my pool experience it would be really nice if you could turn it back up! I was told by the deck manager that it was as loud as it could go. I'm not buying that. All I can say is that Jessica is an inspiration to me & my wife. She is with a doubt one the best instructor Merritt has. It’s because of her passion & motivation that keeps us coming to classes every Tuesday .

It’s a great place to workout. The Merritt team is friendly and helpful. Not to mention, Merritt offer a variety of fitness classes that are fun,motivating, and are designed to increase your physical fitness. Also, the instructors encourage and push you. I love � my club. It is the best of best! It’s clean well equipped and all of the instructors are great! I can’t stress the value of my membership. I would pay double to go to the Merritt! Amelia, Danny, Davon, Maggie and Jess totally kill it! Special shout out to my Wednesday Zumba class. They taught me to love dance �!

But, my Combat class has been replaced on Saturday mornings. I’m sad that I won’t have Jess to start my weekend. I’m hopeful that we’ll get that class back on the weekend. Or another evening class. Canton will be my alternative for this class.

A bit on pricy side. But over all nice facility. No indoor pool. . From what sales rep said there was an issue with county. Go figure lol. Baltimore county reps with there hand out trying to squeeze every last can't out of Baltimore county business so sad.but beyond that a nice club. This was the first gym I ever joined - definitely pricey as others have said but if you go often enough, it’s worth it. Take advantage of the discounts if you’re under 25 yrs old, live with a sibling that also attends Merritt, etc!

My son met with Andrew, a personal trainer. (I came along to pay!) I'm so impressed with Andrew's ability to put clients at ease immediately. There was never any pressure, and I always felt like he had the best interest of my son at heart. His passion is evident the moment you meet him. I was so happy with his completely professional and positive vibe that I asked about joining. Andrew walked me over to two very nice women. They were very helpful. I explained my reservations about committing to a contract, and they quickly put me at ease by walking me through several options. Good gym. Constant kids screaming during the daycare hours. And the people who seem to go just for the pool sometimes wander out in the weight room. It’s been very annoying at times.
