This is a good gym. For what you pay you get ample floor space and equipment, pleasant and clean surroundings, and it's never crowded. Even at peak hours it's not hard to get equipment or find space, and since I usually work out at midday weekday hours, I practically have the whole place to myself. The indoor pool and hot tub are nice, and the steam rooms smell of eucalyptus. There are some downsides, though. The showers could use a little TLC - dirty grouting, loose / reversed handles, etc. The sauna is never very warm. The price of the outdoor pool is completely ridiculous when you consider that your monthly membership is already nearly $200, and they don't offer a day rate, so it's either pay $500 for the season or don't use it. I've dealt with at least one very rude front desk person who seemed annoyed when I asked about day rates for the pool, and rolled her eyes when explaining they don't offer it.I'm also not a huge fan of yearly contracts and think all gyms should be month to month from the minute you sign up, but I accepted those terms anyway when joining.Compared to the average Equinox, which is overcrowded and (as recently revealed) embroiled in problematic politics from its majority shareholder, or the flaming dumpster fire that is TMPL (now sadly rebranded as an NYSC), this is the your best gym option on the west side. Beautiful large club, all the machines you need, the pool area is clean and perfectly oriented for a nice tan. Other members are nice and discreet. There is a boxing area where you can go anytime to hit the bag. The staff is friendly. The changing rooms are clean and there is everything you need, products, towels etc. The only thing I would like is more classes. More...

I just cannot reiterate enough how incredible this gym is. The amenities are beyond wonderful, from the outdoor space to the steam room. The equipment is state-of-the-art, never too crowded, and always clean. The staff is not just kind, but extremely accommodating. There's even a wine bar. You could easily spend all day there, doing work at the tables, taking a class, doing a work out, and hitting the pool. The Club is my favorite perk in all of New York. Money well spent. More...

I just moved into Mercedes House as of last week and was super excited to signing up for the resident membership for this club! From the reviews, as well as what my new roommates have told me about the club, it's 100% all inclusive and equipped with state-of-the-art exercise machinery. The day after moving in I made sure to make my way to the gym early to experience what they had to offer myself. The health club is situated on one main floor within the building. The east half encompasses the gym, pool, locker rooms, basket ball court, and cycling studio. The west side contains the lounge space, a food/smoothie bar, yoga studio, and the billiards area. There are also two outdoor spaces, one which contains the pool and the other with provides additional lounge space for club members. At 8 AM on a Saturday there weren't that many people at the club. The staff was super welcoming and I was able to use various cardio machines and the free weights without having to wait for someone to finish with them. The gym space is also adorned with floor to ceiling windows which allows a lot of natural light to flow in which is really enjoyable. Residents get a special monthly membership price of $95/month as of June 2019. In all honesty it's worth the price for what you get. Use of all facilities, complimentary towels, and unlimited classes make this the perfect place for a convenient workout while keeping you engaged with fellow residents. They also throw events on a monthly basis which I'm looking forward to attending in the future! More...

Not very busy most of the time and great amenities. 50cent works out here sometimes. Not very lenient management. Showers could be cleaner and more inviting.

I have been a member of the Mercedes Club for going on four years.  The staff at the gym is courteous and helpful.  They always greet me with a smile.  Hershey and G respond to emails and answer my questions with quick response time.  Mercedes is more than a gym.  They have member appreciation event.  From snow cones on hot summer days to wine and trivia nights.  In addition  to a gym, indoor/outdoor pool, there are also classes, a sauna, and a spa to get a massage.  I'm so thankful to have a facility in the neighborhood! I have been a member of Mercedes Club for almost a year. It was the best decision I have made living in NYC! I wish I had joined sooner! The club feels like a hidden oasis in this concrete jungle. The staff is remarkable and the service is top level. I have been working out with a personal trainer for the past six months and Noi is incredible. She is motivating and supportive. Mercedes Club offers a ton of different classes, gym equipment, weights, an indoor lap pool, pool table, out door pool and open space to work or hang out. There is an amazing smoothie bar inside for your post-workout pick me up (I recommend the '8th Ave' acai bowl!). The complex is beyond clean and supplies towels, yoga mats, pool towels, etc. The locker rooms have clean showers, a steam room and sauna. You really feel like you are working out in a luxury hotel. I am so sad to be moving from NYC and to be leaving this amazing facility. If you live anywhere near this incredible gym, please schedule a tour ASAP! You will not regret it! More...

The Mercedes Club is truly an urban oasis. The staff is incredibly friendly, professional, and accommodating from the moment you walk in at the front desk. From their huge range of quality fitness classes, to their ultra-clean facilities, to the vibrant culture at all of their events, the club has everything I needed in health & wellness. The member base is fantastic as well, and you have the opportunity to meet many unique and impressing people with whom you can build relationships with. Personally, I utilized the club to train for triathlon, train HIIT, lift weights, do yoga, and recover. I highly recommend the Mercedes Club for anyone and everyone. More...

I lived at Mercedes House for 2.5 years and loved going to the Mercedes Club while there. This gym is huge and includes a yoga room, outdoor plaza, indoor and outdoor pool and steam room! The personal trainers helped me stay on my game while pregnant and post-baby too so I could snap back into shape quickly. Love love love this gym with all of the space, equipment, exercise options and all of the staff. Very friendly but not too friendly. I love going to the gym and zoning everything out and this place was a great escape for me. The only downside for me is the Mercedes House and the Mercedes Club are not as child friendly as I would have liked (very limited pool hours and no playroom for kids) but their set up still appeals to a lot of people. I love this gym. I workout on my lunch break and I have everything I need to get ready to get back to work. They even have razors and shaving cream. I love the sauna and steam room with eucalyptus. The jacuzzi is very relaxing. I love all the classes and the variety they offer. Also, they have the sushi bar with wine and now the have vegan options too. Also, it’s extremely clean and the staff is very friendly. I also like that they offer movie nights in the summer, the outdoor pool for summer time, and the other activities and seminars for members. I love love love Mercedes Club. I was recommended this club by a coworker of mine about a year ago. I was pretty out of shape (at least that's what I felt like) and knew I needed to make a change.I knew I didn't want to go to a $30/month club because I wouldn't feel compelled to go. I scheduled a visit to Mercedes Club and met with Hershey who was so great and informative! She was very prompt in meeting with me and gave me a great tour of the entire club, facilities and amenities they offered. I knew I wanted to sign up right away after seeing how much natural light it got and how airy it felt. The amount of classes that Mercedes offers is wonderful! I was able to throw myself in Rope Burn, Boxing, Advanced Boxing, TRX and many more that I can't seem to name. The jacuzzi, swimming pool, sauna and dry sauna area is just as wonderful. I'm so sad to be leaving Mercedes due to a recent move and the commute would be extremely out of the way for me. However, if I ever return to the west side, I'm definitely rejoining Mercedes. I highly, HIGHLY recommend this fitness club for all your fitness needs and goals! More...

I was a member of Mercedes Club for a little over three and half years. I am not a resident of the building, but happened to find it while running through the neighborhood. This was the best gym I have ever been a member of and I am so sad to be leaving it (moving out of the neighborhood). The staff are so helpful, kind and welcoming. Frantz - I will miss you!  You made getting to the gym while still half asleep SO much better and always made me smile. The facility is spotless. I've never been to a cleaner gym.  The size is perfect. It has a small and community-like feel as opposed to a huge and unwelcoming atmosphere. The offering of classes is super and the equipment and spaces are truly great. An indoor pool, hot tub AND a rooftop pool with outdoor space to do workouts is more than you can ever expect in the City. Something really special that I took for granted was the natural light throughout the entire space - also rare for a gym.  The locker rooms are full service and have sauna/steam room - also so clean. There are tons of reasons this place sets itself apart from others. Thank you for making the gym feel like a part of my home over the past few years, Mercedes Club.  I will truly miss this place. I joined this gym about 4 months ago and it is probably one of the best gyms in the city for the price. And I've belonged to them all! (Equinox, TMPL, David Barton, Crunch, NYSC) My membership is about $165 which is comparable to what I paid for equinox but includes indoor and outdoor pool and decent equipment. My favorite part is that it is never too crowded (I go in the morning) so you can always find equipment. I've gone occasionally in the evenings and it does get a little crowded but not as bad as most gyms in the city. There are also studios to use at your leisure as long as there are no classes and a basketball court that is almost always empty. Maybe I'll work on my free throw?A few suggestions for the weight room:* Get a hack press machine -  That is one piece of equipment I miss the most from my previous gym. I'm sure it could fit with some rearrangements. * put a mirror in front of the one squat rack. I'm terrible at keeping a good form so a mirror is a must and sometimes I need to wait for the other rack by the mirror* get a few woodway curve treadmills. These are amazing!Locker Room: The sauna and steam room are a little small so during crowded hours, you may have to wait or there will be people awkwardly standing. The Locker room could definitely use a face lift. The showers are a little mildew-y and the steam room has puddling of dirty water at times. Overall it's decent and gets the job done, but doesn't feel like you're in a luxury facility. Digital lockers are a major plus, though. Also, surprised no one mentioned it, but almost EVERY time I go there this creepy guy pacing back and forth between the sauna, steam room, and showers making awkward eye contact. (older gentleman, wears a lot of jewelry, possibly Italian?). I've learned to ignore it, but it might make it hard for others to relax. The pool is nice however I wish it were a Salt water pool like the one over at TMPL. So much better for your skin and less chemicals! Also, the hot tub water gets a little gross and even salty so PLEASE SHOWER before entering! It's a rare commodity so don't ruin it for others! The staff is very friendly, especially at the front desk. A few of them even remember me by my first name which shows an amazing effort in customer service! I worked with Domonique when signing up and she was super friendly and helpful as well. The Lounge area has a pool table, ping pong, fire place and comfy couches, so on days when I can work from home I love to go there and make use of the free wifi. Very nice space! I joined in the fall so I have yet to make use of the outdoor space.Overall, I'd say I'm very happy with MC so far. Sure, there is some room for improvement so I hope management takes my comments into consideration. Can't wait to see what the outdoor pool is like this summer! More...

Working out at the Mercedes Club is such a pleasure. Classes have just the right amount of people so you feel challenged and encouraged, but not cramped and uncomfortable. There's lots of variety, too, so you can try new things. The space is bright, open, and inviting with fireplaces and places to lounge. It really feels like an extension of your home. I love Mercedes Club. Apart from it being consistently clean and well-maintained with tons of great classes (with just the right amount of people, unlike so many other gyms), every member of the staff is phenomenal. From the instructors to the management team to the desk staff to everyone in between, members are consistently treated well, and it actually makes me look forward to doing my gym days. Someone else called it a home away from home, and it really feels that way. There's tons of seating and space to lounge and do work or just relax after a workout, and in the summer months, there are beautiful outdoor spaces as well! Congrats fam, you know you made it just by THINKING about a three dollar sign gym. Go into the sauna and breathe in all that eucalyptus scent and privilege. Everyone is always nice and friendly (and beautiful). The occasional working out next to an instagram model always increases my bench by about 25 pounds. There are only 2 bench press and 2 squat racks (only one is in front of a mirror) but rarely ever a wait. Outdoor patio is fire. they provide towels. there's a pool table. vegan juice bar. sushi bar. wait is sushi gluten free?Indoor pool isn't for competitive swimming though. No flags because they would taint the view of the luxurious skyroof so backstrokers have to have amazing spatial memory or risk getting a concussion. There are 3 lanes but only the middle lane is viable for butterfly because the ladders get in the way if you're in the 2 side lanes. There are no fans or ventilators so when you're sprinting you get nice wasps of concentrated chlorine vapor. The hours are shorter than regular gym hours, which is something I wouldve liked to be told before committing. And there are some good swimmers who understand swimming culture but also some who are the type to waddle around the middle and stretch while you're trying to do laps. CIRCLE SWIM instead of splitting the lane in half when sharing lanes guys so one person isnt relegated to banging his arm against the ladder every flip turn. But if you're not a competitive swimmer, Mercedes is a great alternative to repaying your student loans.~updated 8/16/18: don't get me wrong the indoor pool is still average at best but I ran into a powerful celebrity here so that's an automatic 5 stars More...

The Mercedes Club is the best gym in the area...so bright & spacious! Pricey, but luxury that's worth it. The equipment is top notch. There are so many machines, you never have to wait. The outdoor patios on the rooftop are sublime. Two pools (one indoor & one outdoor) so you can get wet year round. The outdoor pool is more for splashing, socializing & lounging than laps. However, they do offer delightfully large lounge chairs perfect for summer so if you can't get to the beach, this is a great alternative. The indoor pool has an enormous skylight & never gets horribly crowded. If there's no lane available, you can just ask someone to share with you. They also have great hours, digital lockers & the front desk staff are very friendly. They have a lovely indoor social area & work spaces with free wifi so it's easy to squeeze in a little business if you need to. During the Fall & Winter, you can relax by the fire. The food/drinks/wine & spa are a nice to have. The monthly events are varied & fun. During the summer, most occur on their large rooftop. Here are just a smattering: trivia night, movie night, a taste of Hell's Kitchen, 5th anniversary party, an athleisure pop-up shop, a pool party thrown by Abir to celebrate her new single "Playground", and two special fitness events....and that was just in July!Only one thing to note: While I adore the eucalyptus scented steam room, it has been down for repairs more often than it should. I LOVE Mercedes Club. It is my favorite gym in NYC. I have been a member for three years. It has been an escape from busy NYC life. The staff is wonderful, good-natured, and friendly, in particular the manager G, who has always been accommodating and helpful. Not only is the gym itself top notch, but the group classes are particularly amazing. I am SO grateful for April Evans' yoga classes - I always leave feeling inspired and "whole" again. Also, if you are looking for cardio and do best exercising with other people around you, the dance classes are for you! Volha, Josip, and Shayne are the teachers who I have experienced -- and they are all SUPER friendly, fun, and encouraging.  I have met a fair number of other Mercedes Club members and all are friendly and supportive. There is a lovely vibe as soon as you enter the gym-- you always feel welcome. It does not feel like you're in NYC. I could not say enough about Mercedes Club. Highly recommend it! More...

As a resident and club member, I enjoy this facility. The classes are fun & a great workout, the jacuzzi is 102 degrees at least, the steam room has the eucalyptus oil which is nice, and there's always lots of towels. They don't sell regular water bottles, instead the have aloe in the and they're like $4 (rather use the fountain than pay $4 for aloe water.) I'm not into the organic vegan soy gmo free life so I haven't tried the food but there's a lot of great wines to pick from. There's a lot of machines and they're always adding new ones, the events are fun- who doesn't love awesome dans snow cones *for free*? The front desk is extremely helpful and nice and they're always there in the know about what is going on. Sometimes the app won't let you add or delete classes. Bathrooms aren't terrible but it's not equinox either w high end products and styling tools and such either. Weekends get a little crazy at the pool with capacity and sometimes us residents can't find a chair to lay out on due to the non residents and non member passes as expected anyone can buy a guest pass for the day. Overall 4 stars. Most of the staff are always on their A game. More...

I was a member here for a few years until I moved out to the suburbs. I moved over two months ago and still feel the loss of Mercedes Club in my life. The gym is like no other- so bright and big and screams luxury as you walk through the door. I absolutely loved the selection of classes, all of the instructors were awesome- Carrie and Monika in the spin studio, Shayne who did a killer body conditioning and dance class and Barre Bootcamp with Jessica. Everyone who works hospitality here is so nice and friendly, G was particularly helpful with my many questions and setting me up with the best personal trainer ever. Personal trainers don't come cheap but when you get a great one they are worth every penny- Julian Stanic is exceptional. He got me wedding dress ready and I have never felt so strong and capable. I am absolutely gutted I'm no longer a member and can't recommend the the club or the people enough! More...

The operations manager G. Rueda is always there for you too. It's like a second home more than just another gym. The outdoor and indoor pool are both beautiful and an awesome highlight. Absolutely love this place! I've been a member for a little over two years and it truly is my oasis in this crazy concrete jungle. Whether I'm working out in the gym, hanging out by the fireplace or relaxing by the pool -- this place has everything you could want! It's Equinox without the attitude and far more reasonable on the wallet. My favorite part -- Having a pool to escape the hot summers. Almost every weekend last summer Mercedes brought a DJ into the area and had vendors sampling local treats. They really value their members and pull out all the stops to ensure there is something for everyone. More...

Mercedes Club true to its name exudes a level of class. The whole layout of the gym is very modern and new. In terms of equipment, it rivals Equinox, all the machines are new, functional, and I was trying hard to look for any stain on the floors and there just wasn't any! They really keep this place sparkling clean! They also have an outdoor patio on the rooftop that is open to all members during the summer. Its only April now, but on May 15th it will be open. The patio has lots of green, folding chairs, and even a little outdoor pool. Its not big enough for swimming, but just big enough for recreation. They do also however have a swimming pool that is big enough indoors. It has 3 separate lanes depending on your speed level. It rarely gets to crowded at the pool, but in case it does you just ask the other swimmer if they will split the lane with you. More...

I don't write many reviews, but I have been a member for 3 years now, and really feel its time to give credit where credit is due. When choosing a gym, my main demands are that it is clean, it has the equipment I need and the equipment is available, and its at the right price point. Mercedes club checks all 3, with lots of great equipment that is always available, cleaned regularly throughout the day, and a reasonable monthly price. Those three things alone make a gym close to 4 stars. But the ultimate quality of any experience is always dictated by the people, and G, Brooke, Gary, Erica and the whole team have been nothing short of excellent the whole way. They are friendly, thoughtful, and extremely organized. They make walking into the gym a pleasure because of their great attitudes, and that attitude then ripples out to everyone using the gym. It's almost like going to a spa instead of a gym, and feels like that even more during the summer, when I mix in a couple of hours by the pool with my workouts. Love this place. More...

The Mercedes Club is an amazing gym with fantastic amenities. It's always super clean and the staff is incredibly friendly.  I would have to single out G. He is always available and helpful when a member needs something. I originally joined during the summer of 2014 because of their outdoor pool. Eventually I started taking their group classes which are also amazing! I do at least 3-4 classes a week including; boxing, spin, bar, Pilates and yoga. The teachers are top notch! The indoor lap pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna are great for days I just want to decompress. There is also a delicious & healthy, moderately priced restaurant in the gym that's perfect for when I want a pressed juice after a long workout or lunch to eat outside when I'm lounging by the pool. The gym staff is always generous with guest passes when a family member is in town or a friend wants to check it out to possibly join. I have had a few friends join after visiting the gym for a day. You absolutely have to check this place out if you are even remotely close to the location. Apart from state of the art amenities, equipment, and daily group exercise classes, the PEOPLE who work there are just incredible to interact with. I am hard pressed I think of a better customer service experience than what I received from G Rueda and the other front desk/spa employees. The personal attention, passion, and expertise brought to the table by Kwame "Q" (boxing), Jackie Atkins (boxing), and Carrie Eckstein (spin) in particular were incredible and a big credit goes to them for the 30 lbs I lost in my 1 year as a member. The only negative I can think of is that there aren't multiple locations so I could stay a member wherever I lived! I have been a member of Mercedes Club for almost two years and have had a wonderful experience.  The managerial staff and the staff at the front desk are not only extremely professional but also personable and helpful.  The amenities, specifically the lounge area with wifi, is an excellent place to do work and read.  The outdoor pool is also the perfect place to go for an escape from the hot summer NYC days. However, what has made me want to continue working out at the Mercedes Club is my experience with trainer Jonathan Olivencia.  Jonathan is the hardest working and most driven person I have had the pleasure of working with.  As a trainer, he holds all of his clients highly accountable for their actions.  He sends weekly emails on Sunday afternoons to check in regarding their weekly workouts and mindset regarding their individual progress. Most meaningful is that Jonathan reads what his clients have written, based on his follow-up either through text or in conversation during our sessions. Jonathan also makes available on google docs clients' individualized programs so to track weekly progress.  By tracking goals in this manner, Jonathan is able to better identify each of his clients strengths and needs for improvement, thus allowing him to differentiate each clients' workout to their individual needs.  Prior to working with Jonathan, I was not seeing much progress. I saw working out as something that was not for me.  Although I was daunted by the movements Jonathan showed me in my complimentary session with him, by the end of that session, it was evident he help me to reach my goals.  After almost a year of training with Jonathan, I have gone from a size 12 regular to a 6 petite.  I am dedicated to eating healthy and working out everyday.  With Jonathan's suport, I participated in the first Mercedes Club Summer Games with him and two of his other clients and set records that I did not expect I could ever set. I would highly recommend that anyone seeking a trainer to reach out to Jonathan.  Take advantage of the complimentary training session all Mercedes Club members are entitled to.  I am very grateful that I did so. Edited: After understanding better how gyms work in NY, I tweaked the review as I was being unfair to the local reality.I've been going to Mercedes for about 2 years now on a daily basis. I have to say I love the place - it has a very "usual" crowd feeling to it, which means you see the same people all the time and they are (in grand majority) polite and nice. Rarely gets too full and the machines are pretty decent. Also, the front desk staff is extremely nice!My only minor suggestion is the lack of on-floor trainers. I come from a country where trainers - when not training clients - will be overseeing the people who are exercising and punctually help those people to do their exercises in a more correct way. I've seen situations where people were doing exercises in a way that would damage their back and, without on-floor trainers, there is no one to say something. Maybe it's just cultural, but I always thought it was a nice touch in gyms I went to. More...

I am not a gym person. But, Mercedes Club makes me want to be one. It is such a beautiful, open space. Where else in the city can you find a gym that has NATURAL light and doesn't look like a dingy basement dungeon? Since the change in management, there is a new energy among staff and members and it makes you want to go to, rather than avoid, the gym. Everything is clean and bright along with the pools and locker rooms. Tons of classes offered and the spa is well appointed and professional. Also, the TV's on the treadmills are A+. Mercedes Club is honestly the best deal in NYC. If you like taking classes they have the best schedule and they're all included in the membership. I used to take yoga, spin and pilates at different studios which got ridiculous.. I can take all these classes and more at the same place and usually in the same day.. if I'm not too tired. It's tucked away on the west side, which at first I thought was going to be a pain, but it's not at all as I can easily spend all day there. It's a really nice getaway. Combine that with the two pools and how clean it is.. Definitely the best I've experienced so far. More...

OK, so anywhere that can get my bum to the gym is a miraculous oasis of fabulous-ness!  Things I love:1. Dawn2. Dawn3. Dawn - She is the type of trainer that focuses on strength training. Her background in massage and human anatomy gives her quite the 'leg up' when it comes to how to use your muscles properly.  She gives you a base routine that you can practice on your own and mixes it up with fun high knee sprints that were reminiscent of river dance type moves along with shooting baskets half court. I've lost almost an inch off of my waist, this is without dieting folks, by training with Dawn and working out on my own. You leave the gym stronger with increased flexibility. In addition, to her positive attitude and encouraging personality Dawn understands the demands of living and working in NYC, which really helps me train with her during the week. Things I like (a lot):1. Carrie's spin class, I would put this in the love category but I don't manage to get there as often as I would like. She pushes you the entire class and when you leave you have jello legs and one heck of a cardio workout under your belt! Also, her playlists rock! 2. The outdoor pool, especially, in the summer. 3. Yoga classes, not a bad teacher in the bunch, and the view is stunning. Things I would like to see improve:1. The music, please just get it over with and hire a DJ from Long Island. The music isn't bad, it's just not always great, and sometimes I feel like I'm at a wedding and not the gym.  Less romance, more fist pump. 2. I enjoy the pool but I wish we had more lounge chairs and definitely more towels.  3. The facility is pretty clean but it is not sparkling despite how many people are constantly wiping, sweeping, and dusting.  This is possible the result of high traffic but I would like to see a more consistent heavy clean, i.e. moving the mats and cleaning under them and in between them. Overall, this is a great place to work out and you will not be disappointed! More...

I'd really wish that the club could maintain the basketball court a lot more. If so, it would be a lot more fun. She's making it a very personal experience, which is great. The outdoor pool area is a great place to chill and sunbath. It's very comfortable and it can get crowded on the weekends. The only reason that I'm not giving 5 stars is that:1) During the past months the club had some issues with the air conditioner. They fixed it but it got very warm for a few weeks, especially in the spinning room2) the steam room didn't work too often in the past months. I I have been visiting just about every gym that everyone hypes up, such as the YMCA, NYSC, Planet Fitness & Manhattan Plaza Health Club. I dislike how crowded they all are, as well as their management with work ethics and how they function their gym. I am a HUGE basketball fanatic, and love to play basketball so I truly value basketball courts and I found my perfect court at the Mercedes Club. From the staff members such as the lifeguards, maintenance, front desk, sales to the managers, this team holds a good positive attitude and comes together as a whole providing the gym with weight training, indoor AND outdoor pool, multiple lounge areas, jacuzzi and most importantly for me the basketball court, aside from the most induring vibe that the staff members feed to their customers. That attitude makes me want to come to the Mercedes Club everyday. I want to share an experience that I had with Equinox, and I will post this review on Equinox as well to provide people with the horrible attitude I received while visiting their gym. I told the woman who was giving me a tour at Equinox that I did not want to sign up because I simply did not like the jacuzzi was for one sex and in separate locker rooms, as well as in the basement. I simply didn't feel comfortable being in a jacuzzi in that condition. However, she thought differently. She thought that I was making up excuses, because she has never heard the excuse of a customer not liking the jacuzzi location and accused that the reason I did not want to sign up was due to money issues. INSULT. I do not have money issues, and even if I did, so what? You simple DO NOT point that out, and if I did have money issues why would I be visiting a "top notch" gym like Equinox?  I managed to keep my cool and walked out happy because I know my place at the Mercedes Club is way better than any other gym, even if they are higher ranked and cost more money. Sometimes the value of the product does not matter, but its the simplest things that can make someone's day better and I feel like the Mercedes Club has provided me with not only a gym, but so many friends and people that I can turn to and have a great time with... H-A-P-P-I-N-E-S-S!!   After being a long-time member of Reebok on the UWS and feeling the not-so-fabulous vibe from the Equinox transition, I was beyond happy to discover the Mercedes Club.  I absolutely love the luxurious layout - the bright, open indoor/outdoor feel and the cleanliness alone is a big positive piece of my review (cleanliness is a huge factor for me and Mercedes is nailing it).  I mix up my workouts constantly from sprinting on the treadmill to boxing to swimming and I was really pleased to discover that everything was laid out and flowed really well, was easy to access and had the top, premiere equipment I am used to using on a daily basis.  Their group classes are top-notch and the indoor pool is a dream year-round (the skylight, even on a gray day, makes you instantly feel like you are outside). So rare in this concrete jungle!  The entire staff has been a pleasure and from the get-go I sensed that community vibe I was used to.  Already met some great people and am so glad to leave my day's stress at this gem of a club.  My only "complaint" is that I wish I knew about this club when I was single in the City! ;)  I was a teeny tiny bit hesitant in writing a review because I think the Mercedes Club is this City's best-kept secret, but I think letting a few Yelpers know is only the right thing to do, especially since Summer is coming and their awesome rooftop pool will most definitely be the hot spot to mix n' mingle (very Sex and the City-esque!).  Keep up the great work Mercedes-Club and thank you! I have been a member of the Club spanning multiple management turnovers and I can say that this one is the best the Club has ever had. The new management team is very intuitive to member's needs, and goes out of their way to assure exemplary customer service. I personally do not care what the team leader wears or if she is visible or not, I am more interested that there are ongoing improvements to the club. Members can be very challenging, there are a few who are sloppy and do not wipe equipment after their use,  leave soiled towel where they damn please, and are not constructive by the constant complaining for nonsense. Fortunately the staff is very professional, are very responsive to things quickly, and are continuing improving the image and brand of the Club. One suggestion to management is to curb kids from entering the Club. Our Club is not a park or a place to hangout with toddlers. It's a place where adults come to relax, exercise, and network.  Keep up the good work. More...

Where to begin...The facilities speak for themselves without needing any praise as once you walk in and take a tour you will understand that you have found your gym especially if you live around the area.Thankfully new management has been established from the old and to say this is an improvement is an understatement.I frequently use the gym a a lot and  i'm hard to please but i appreciate the attention to detail that the staff has brought to the club. This been said one of my favorites is the new trainer Darrin which Lisi recommended based on her observation and to say she was spot on wouldn't do her justice. In general i finally feel like the gym is spearheaded in the right direction with this team. I finally found a club that not only provides great customer service (Mickey in sales is so helpful and nice) but also has a ton of natural light with floor to ceiling windows surrounding this beautiful and immaculate club.  BTW - the view includes an outdoor pool with an amazing deck included in the membership.I'm a class junkie so I truly appreciate that management has hired many of the best teachers in NYC.  No joke- you have got to check out teachers such as Jade for spinning.  Love her energy as well as all the new and exciting programs now offered.  I also like the equipment selection- so easy to navigate along with trainers to help.   My boyfriend shoots hoop and enjoys the boxing studio- there is something for everyone.  One by one my friends are converting from gyms like Equinox.Who offers all this plus a huge lounge area w/fireplaces, pool table and ping-pong for around $33 per week?  I have died and gone to gym heaven- Thank You! Love this gym! It's sleek, clean and fancy. It's like a country club in the city. This place has Jacuzzi, an indoor pool, outdoor pool, steam room, sauna, digital lockers, swim suit dryer, kitchen, juice & food bar, spa, towel service, an outdoor Terrace that's like a beach during the summer and many more!

I've been a member at the Mercedes Club for 2.5 years after Vebo (formally Club H) closed. Living in Hell's Kitchen, it's all about location to me and the Mercedes Club is a hidden gem with everything a person would need.PROS:The staff is top notch, even with the loss of a few key heads that felt like staples there (i.e. Matt). Since the first day, Frantz and G (Gustavo) have been the most professional people in the business. It's the little things that make this place special.Since I rarely take advantage of the classes, I've actually tried to leave the gym for a cheaper alternative but its people like G, Mikey, Erika, Frantz, Freddy, Gary, Brooke and others that make it impossible. I went in several times to cancel but found it to be impossible. I don;t even try anymore...The indoor lap and outdoor deck pool's are clutch in this concrete jungle. I do not care who name drops "equinox" to rival the Mercedes Club but I wouldn't pay half the inflated monthly rate "equinox" charges as the Mercedes Club is better hands down. Pound for pound, its not even close. Is there another gym outside of the Mercedes Club that offers the aquatic options to swim in the winter while also soaking up the sun in the summer (unless you count the holiday inn as an option)? Overall, the gym is clean and classy. It doesn't have creepy people like most others in the area. I go to the gym to work out and if I happen to chat with some cool people, it's a win-win. What I like is that this place isn't a breeding ground for weirdo's wearing spandex watching you work out and trying to work in when you know they're not on a legs that day. CONS:About 4 months ago, there was a situation with my membership fee being higher than a special promo offered to my company, but G and Gary smoothed it over. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't put up with "special" promos offered to co-workers who have put zero time in at the gym and punishing people who have been there since inception (or close to it). I've referred several people to the gym without receiving any free passes, free month or even a thank you. That purely lies on the turnover friendly membership acquiring team but I just ignore them and focus on the good things, the rest of the staff and the gym itself. To me the membership team is the only gripe I have had or have with the gym.SUMMARY:Even with my minor membership team complaints, I would recommend this gym to anyone who enjoys fitness and good vibes. If you live in Hell's Kitchen, consider it a blessing. I even recruited a friend to join from the LES as the pools are out of this world. Well worth the monthly rate.If you just want to check it out, ask for G, explore the amenities and I'll guarantee you sign up. More...

The Mercedes Club is my oasis in the city. It's stunning, massive and well laid out floor plan coupled with the incredible outdoor/indoor pool options, sun decks and immaculate cleanliness make this the best gym I have ever belonged to in NYC.Combine all the friendly faces who greet you at the front desk; G, the assistant manager who has made the customer service experience exceptional and ensured I always feel valued plus my trainer and fitness guru Eddie who has changed my life, I could not love MC more if I had equity.I would prefer to be selfish and never have another soul know this best kept secret BUT I also want to watch this business thrive as it is so deserving and well needed. Kudos and keep up the good work. More...

Mercedes Club is an outstanding gym. The facilities are awesome and very clean. They offer a great class selection (yoga, boot camp, spin, and even boxing). The instructors are awesome as are the gym employees (especially Gustavo who's always super nice and will answer any question you have).Mercedes Club definitely cares  about its members. A while back I talked with management about potential improvements to the class schedule and was happy to see that this conversation was taken seriously and changes were made! Other than classes- they have two pools (outdoor/indoor), top of the line equipment, nice locker room, and a juice bar/healthy cafe. The rate is reasonable- so really can't go wrong w this place! I came to Mercedes Club with a Free Week Trial voucher. Pros* This gym is beautiful, luxurious, and clean, even nicer than Equinox.* Mercedes Club is not only available for residents of Mercedes House, but to anyone who can afford the membership. When you are a member, you are also able to use their common lounge room, outdoor pool, and sunroof- the latter 2 which are absolutely essential in the spring and summer months. * The pristine lap pool, comprised of 3 lanes, has clean goggles and training buoys for anyone's use. The hot tub is exquisite, and has sensored bubbles so when you step in the water the bubbles go on full power and you never have to redial yourself. * Electronic locks- you never have to bring your own* Nice amenities in the women's changing room such as mouthwash, razors, shaving creams, cotton swabs, and a swimsuit spin dyer. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash seemed like generic brands (unlike Bliss and Kiehl's offered at other high-end clubs), but I didn't mind this at all, the showers are already so nice! * Very friendly and attentive staff * The best part about Mercedes is that it's always so empty that sometimes I felt like I had the entire gym and lap pool to myself. Never had to wait for any machines or lanes! Because the location is so out of the way, people might find it hard to attend the club....which probably explains Mercedes's free week offers in trying to increase membership. * Some reviews remarked at how small the gym was for the price. I think for the current number of people who frequent this gym, the size is perfect. However, if membership grows exponentially and people would have to wait for machines and mats, it could be a deal-breaker. Overall, I loved my experience- it felt like a week in gym heaven! If I could afford the $129 monthly membership (or $119 if you accept their promotional offer that includes 1 free massage and training session), I would join Mercedes in a second! More...

Whilst traveling around the globe working on high fashion editorials, I can barely squeeze in a moment of elliptical time. During New York Fashion Week I came across the Mercedes Club, that was recommended by my dear friend. I popped in to see the space and was instantly infatuated. I spoke with "G," who was a dapper young gentleman and welcomed my presence ever so kindly. I immediately joined. I have been able to come in the club once a day since, and have been nothing but pleased. I am very impressed with the crisp cleanliness of the facility. The towels are ever so soft and the whole staff is amiable. Most gyms I go to have cheeky employees, but I felt a mutual respect between the lovely staff and I. Every person is minted, yet quite friendly. I would highly recommend this beautiful facility to anyone. More...

This review is based solely for event hosting.  Came here for the Body Locals social event the other week and used the outdoor seating area.  Had a great time.  The outdoor space was completely perfect for hosting an event.  They had an open bar and enough room to host the vendors. There were a lot of people attending this event and the space was perfect to accommodate the larger group.   The pool seemed a bit small for the size of the location, but I didn't use it. I joined this gym in 2012 when in opened. I quit july 2013 because this place had definitely gone downhill. I just rejoined and am happy to say this place has improved. I like this gym a lot. The big draw for me: though it's sleek and draws a young, fit crowd, I don't find it intimidating at all. Maybe it's the layout. I used to go to a gym that was literally one big square room and I always felt like all eyes were on me (which is silly) when doing cardio in the middle of the room. Not here. Also, I LOVE that the lockers are electronic, so I don't have to worry about forgetting a lock. Downside: Yes, the snack bar prices are RIDICULOUS.  So are the spa prices. Had a good massage there but you can get a really good massage a lot cheaper down the street.Last, sometimes this gym is trying to be a club. Not a gym club, but a CLUB club. Movie nights are cool but I dont want a big dj party at my gym. (Remember when I said earlier this place isn't intimidating ) Plus it just gets in the way of my workout. I can't imagine what those parties are like for residents. More...

A quick update to my last review: Summer has arrived at the Mercedes Club.  Finally.  The outdoor pool is open as are the outdoor sundecks, with many chaise lounges to lounge around and soak up some sun.  I joined the gym back in January, when at the time they were offering a 3-month commitment special.  It's now 5 months in, and I don't plan on going anywhere!  The front desk staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, especially Brooke, Erica, and G.  Most recently, I started checking out Turn Up spin classes with Ricky, who teaches classes 3 days per week, most of which are 45 minutes to 1 hour.  One class, which he does every two weeks, is a 75 minute ride, ...I haven't done it yet, but I am looking forward to it!  The spin room is a bit small, and while they do put as many bikes as they can in there it fills up quickly.  A few weeks ago, they now require you sign up for classes in advance online - the classes at 6:30 and 7:30pm on a Tuesday were already filled by 5pm.  (Note to self: sign up sooner!)  To sum it up: Awesome spin instructor! One time there was a guy in one class I took who decided he wanted to sit in the front row, opposite the door, and take only 20 minutes of a 45 minute class.   This is not only disrespectful to the instructor, but also the rest of the class and those waiting on a waitlist for a bike to not even take half of a class.  It was dealt with professionally by the management, and gave me a higher respect for the club as a whole and how its run.  As a respect to your class, it's ok to leave 5 minutes early, but to not even take half the class is just being disrespectful.  (Also, if the class is completely full, which ours was, you can hurt yourself if you aren't careful navigating thru a class of people on moving stationary bikes - which this guy probably would have) I also had the opportunity to train with Kenny G, who put me thru one helluva workout and would definitely recommend him as well.  The Mercedes Club Spa, offering massages and more - well, I won't go into detail as I wrote a separate review on the Mercedes Club Spa yelp page about Dawn, who was absolutely amazing.  Well, so much for a *quick* update: I got a little carried away.  I guess we will see what the outdoor pool and deck bring for the summer :) More...

Probably one of the best gyms in New York City. I wound up joining after purchasing the $59 one month trial on Gilt City, as well as being a member of other gyms including NYHRC, Gold's (now Crunch), and Chelsea Piers. I joined in October, so have yet to use any of the outdoor facilities. Emily made the process super easy without being pushy like membership representatives at some of the other gyms I had belonged to in the past. Everything is new, clean, and high-end - especially the treadmills. I run competitively so it can be hard to find treadmills to do speedwork on in the winter that can go past 10 MPH without feeling like they are going to break - not a problem at Mercedes Club. The pool is also a nice bonus and generally tends to be uncrowded. Chelsea Piers may have a nicer locker room with more amenities and expansive facilities, but Mercedes Club is definitely a better value in terms of dollars. The only downside is that there are no olympic style bumper plates (however they do have kettle bells) and no multi-hip machine. Also, prices at the Juice Bar are laughable. More...

I've been a member here for a week. I live a block and a half away and do freelance work during the day, so Mercedes Club is enticing for me because I can 1) work there during the day and 2) work out when I need a break. Matt was very accommodating and has checked in on me during my stays to make sure I have everything I need. The club serves both purposes very well. The lounge is great for work and I can work here as much as I want, and then in the afternoon, take a class or shoot some hoops. I'm sure it will be very distracting once the summer hits (the outdoor pool is within eyesight) but the other side of the lounge area will probably have less outdoor activity to gaze at. I find the gym to be very clean. Love the electronic lockers, and it's never crowded. Showered there and couldn't tell the difference between the soap and the shampoo, but not a big deal (I'm clean either way, right?) Overall, they keep it as nice as I need it to be.As for my workouts so far: Boxing area is small but does the job - they have 5 different types of punching bags. Looking forward to taking the Gleason's gym class. The classes aren't constant but are well varied. I took a bootcamp and early morning yoga class (I was the only male in both). Bootcamp with Danielle was not so intense for my out of shape body that I felt ill, but enough that I really felt a burn and was sore afterwards. Vinyasa Yoga with Kate was my first yoga class and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. She was able to make me feel comfortable with my lack of skills and knowledge (didn't go too fast, was helping me when necessary) without making the experienced yogis next to me feel like they weren't getting their money's worth. She was very patient, asked me if I had any injuries, etc. - both were high level instructors. Finally, my membership came with a 30 minute massage. After my out of shape body went through bootcamp and yoga, plus other activities, I was ready for my massage at the end of the week. I have some serious tension on my right shoulder area, and Dawn found tension points I didn't even know I had. I ended up upgrading in the middle of the massage to a full hour which was well worth it. Not kidding, best massage of my life. What can I say. Very happy with my membership so far. 5/5 stars. I LOVE the Mercedes Club!  I've been a member for a year, and I always look forward to going there.  It is very clean and the amenities are terrific!  My favorite part of the gym is the classes.  They have something for everybody...Zumba, Yoga, Pilates, Boxing, Boot Camp, Swim Class...and the teachers are excellent.  There is also a lovely lounge equipped with ping pong and pool tables, couches, tables, a flat screen TV, and a juice bar (The Squeeze), which also sells soups and a few salads and wraps.  There is an indoor pool and an outdoor pool with lounge chairs (open in the summer), so it feels more like a resort than a typical gym in NYC.  The staff is always nice and friendly.  They often plan events such as outdoor movies, cocktail parties, or brunches, which are free to members.  The locker rooms have nice showers, a steam room and sauna, and plenty of primping tools like hairdryers, curling irons, and toiletries.  There is a spa here as well, which has facials and massages, which of course you pay extra for, but is very convenient.  My favorite gym experience in Manhattan, and I've been here 15 years. One of the best gyms I've visited in the city! It's very well kept, clean, and has almost everything. Because it is also a residential gym, it also has amenities that other gyms usually won't have (i.e. lounge area with free wifi, pool table, outdoor area, weekly complimentary movie nights, weekly complimentary sunday brunch buffets, outdoor pool/tanning area, etc) All the classes are inclusive of the membership and they have all sorts of classes. They also have a spa and they mentioned that they're going to implementing a nail salon too! (definitely a plus for people like me). The locker rooms are very new and very clean and there's no need to bring your own lock because they utilize electronic lock systems! For my workouts, I usually only need a few weights, area to do abs, and a treadmill so this gym was perfect and more than enough for me. However, my guy friend said that the facilities/equipment were not enough for him so that may be a con for some others. Emily was funny, patient and very informed, she made the process easy and took care of me.Being a member of this club is like being a member of an elite Private Club. I consider the Mercedes Club my home away from home. I can literally spend hours here alternating between working out my body on the state of the art machinery or in one of the high intensity classes offered and working out my brain in the lounge in front of a warm fire. There is no time limit and never a wait for the cardio machines. The locker room is great too: equipt with a small sauna and steam room to relax the muscles and plenty of hygiene supplies in stock: shampoo, conditioner, and body soap in every shower, blow dryer, plenty of towels, razors, and qtips. I always walk out looker fresher than before. The lockers are electronic, which is a HUGE plus for me as I would always forget my lock which resulted in spending $30+ on locks during my short stint at NYHRC.The only con that I can address is that the health food bar is overpriced for the portion size. If they'd decrease the price of the acai bowls by $2 or increase the bowl size, I would order one as a post work out snack daily. On the plus side, the club has fridges that patrons can use to store perishables while working out or just hanging out.I did not rate it a five since there is only one location that is not in close proximity to the subway. I would definitely say that this gym is "good" in some ways and far above part in others.  If you're looking for above average work out equipment and ample top of line cardio equipment with a sleep minimalist design against a wall of windows, this place is for you.  Yet, to me, these haven't been what should allow the company to charge 130+ a month for membership.  What really validates the membership are the half size pool inside, the small pool deck, and the large lounge, juice bar, and TV all of which were originally only supposed to be made for residents who live in the building.  So essentially you're paying for many amenities to the normal gym experience which makes it pretty worth the price.  However, first starting a gym at a luxury level that does not have buzz around town, I think the price was too high.  Therefore the gym feels at most 50% full at rush hour.  I would have recommended the gym spend year 1at $100 year 2 $110 year 3 125 year 4 $135.  This would have allowed them to market a luxury product for a lower than their competitor is charging. Just my two cents. The gym is 5 stars. The hours on weekends especially Saturday and Sunday are 2 stars... It should stay open till 11 because the lounge closes at 11.  Most people who LIVE in the building want to bring their guests to the lounge on a weekend night. More...

I guess I should start by saying I am what some people would call a Gym jumper. I am not ashamed to admit that I have spent quite a few hours looking for the next best deal the next open house or the next day pass handed out on the street. Most recently  I had purchased a reduced rate membership off of the Bloomspot website and I thought, score, cool I'm getting a high end workout for low end cost but what I got was so much more. 1) The facility- First, let me tell you that, this place is immaculate what ever they pay the porters should be doubled the locker rooms are spotless and these guys work non stop. This place is 80,000 sq feet and these guys make every inch of it look breathtaking. The lounge area alone would have had my jaw to the floor and with a real working fireplace winter in the city does not seem so cold. I can't wait to check out the outdoor pool when the weather gets warmer. Until then the indoor pool will do just fine. 2) The Classes-I have only had the chance to take a few classes but I have to say they are on par with some of the best gyms I have been to and they are all free with membership. I did not even have to sign up for any of them. So far spin is my favorite but I am excited to try out the new boxing class they have added to the schedule. 3)The Staff- Friends, this is really where the Mercedes club excels and shines above other health clubs I have tried. This is the first time i truly felt like a staff was not just trying to sell me a membership rather they just wanted to get to know me.The older guy in the morning has the most positive mood it brightens up my day although I don't get to the gym early that often I look forward to seeing him when I do. The young boy Gene and brunette girl (Bushy hair ,dancer sorry I forgot your name)  who work later in the day are kind, friendly, funny and helpful . The boy and the Spanish girl(sorry not trying to be racist) seem to know how to do everything and are constantly attending to everyone's needs, always with a smile! The smiles on the staff have to be the best in the city. Although I have not talked with membership yet I have a feeling that my gym jumping days may end here.4) Down side- The location is a little out of the way and the wind tunnel coming up 54th is so cold (Thank god for the fire place). There seems to be some problems with the soap dispensers and towel suppliers but what can I say they are not a chain of million dollar clubs yet they have a million dollar staff. Any problems here will go away as the club seems to be picking up a lot of speed. They threw a kick ass Superbowl party! I can't wait to see what they do next. Oh and did I mention they have an outdoor pool!!!! More...

This please is great whether you are looking to have a serious work out, or just to lounge about in the sun (back when the sun was still around in the summer months)!  I really like the clean locker rooms esp since everything is still relatively new.The pool, while small, is the perfect size for someone who isn't a serious swimmer, but wants to augment their workout from the usual cardio machines.  I try to come during the week days, as during weekends, especially during the summer they are quite busy-- All in all, love the place, 1 star off for the location-- it is very far to the west and a little inconvenient to get to. I love Mercedes Club and joined it through a Bloomspot deal for one month membership in August and have decided to sign up for a regular monthly membership for the year.  I am a gym junkie, so it was a bit of a hard decision to leave Reebok Sports Club on the UWS after 5 years of membership there, but Mercedes was half the price of Reebok with most of the same club offerings, so I couldn't turn it down ultimately. Here are the positives:1. Beautiful indoor lap pool and outdoor dip pool.  One of the best services at Reebok was their indoor lap pool, although it's hard to not wait to get a lane for at least 15 mins, that you must share the lane.  At Mercedes Club, there is no waiting and you can have your own lane, although, they still don't have some of the items needed for lap swimming; i.e. swimming boards2. The yoga instructors are some of the best that I have ever taken, especially Kate and April, and I have been practicing yoga for over 12 years at different facilities...Yoga Works, Reebok Sports Club, Equinox3. The staff is wonderful and friendly4. Pricing is incredibly reasonably for everything that you get5. You can invite a friend to enjoy the outdoor pool for a price6. Feels more like a Lifestyle gym than a sports gym, so you can be there for hours enjoying the bocci ball, pool table, putting green, and ping pong tables7. Sun shine from all parts of the gym, make it feel very roomy and openNegatives:1. I live a little distance from Mercedes and it would be nice if they provided bike racks to lock up my bike.  Many others have complained about this too, since Mercedes is so far over by 11th avenue.  The only place to lock up your bike is near the park between 11th and 12th avenue, which is not exactly safe at night time.2. Spin instructors are ok, not fantastic... some seemed inexperienced.3. Lockers are small and not sure how they are going to accomodate winter coats, when winter comes4. Elixir Juice bar is quite over-priced and limited on food.  Was hoping for that type of space to have a true cafe with coffee and salad bars, as other gyms in the City provide, such as at Equinox and Reebok5. The shower pressure is bad. I have taken a shower there, after each work out over the last month, and the water constantly turns cold while in the middle of the shower. Also, sometimes the showers are not clean often enough so there is hair in the drain.6. Can't shave easily in the shower and the shower does not have a ledge as other clubs, where you can place a shaver or items that you might have brought with you7. No deodorant is provided after a week at the club.  Originally, they provided deodorant for the guests, but stopped, since they said someone stole it...well, why not replace it and just add a security cord, as other gyms have provided, so no one can steal it?8. Not that many classes yet, but they are adding more and more.  They just started a kick-boxing class and added a few more spin and yoga classes.9. If you quit the gym, there is a $250 cancellation feeOverall, for the price and offerings, Mercedes is a great deal. More...

Today was my last day of a month-long Bloomspot membership to Mercedes Club, and I am very very sad to leave. I have worked out in plenty of gyms in the city, but this one is by far the nicest. HRC, Equinox, etc really have nothing on this space: two extremely clean and uncrowded pools, jacuzzi to jump into after you lap swim, beautiful airy and sunlit yoga studio with a view onto the roof deck. Everywhere unholy amounts of space, light, and ventilation. After some extremely stressful days, I was a little overwhelmed at how much better I felt after working out here. I was also lucky enough to do 3 personal training sessions with Edwin, who managed to pack an amazing amount of information into just a few hours of time. I'm still really happy that I was able to train with him before my membership ran out.The only thing keeping me from signing up was the distance between my office and this gym. (It's also a good 10 minute walk from the nearest subway.) But honestly, I'm going to see how long I can last at my regular gym, knowing that this place exists. More...

Magnificent.  Brand spankin' new and a sprawling facility, so much that if feels like I am not in NYC.  Like most people, I redeemed my Bloomspot voucher.  Receptionists were friendly, helpful, and did not treat me second rate.  No one really gives you an official tour, but I prefer that. Everything is on one floor.  I took a Tune Up class with my husband, thinking it would be a 'mini-workout' for him, and he said it was one of the hardest conditioning workouts he's ever had.  These instructors are awesome.   Yes, the chairs by the pool are grabbed quickly, but there is so much lawn (er, astroturf) space and space by the pool, that I could have done without the chairs.  For a perfect summer day, it wasn't that crowded. The scene? Slight trendy but less of a annoying scene like you'd find at SoHo House. I love this place and am considering a monthly membership. More...

I just visited Mercedes Club today and spent over three hours there!  I went for a trial day and started off with a tour of the facilities.  There's an indoor lap pool, jacuzzi next to the indoor pool and an outside pool as well.  The outside pool is only 3 and a half feet deep so it's just for lounging really.  It's quite nice!  The gym equipment is literally all brand spanking new.  They have some crazy machines I have never seen at a gym, even a place huge like Chelsea Piers.  They have only been open for a few weeks so it's not crowded at all.  If you go in to meet with one of their membership people, ask for Elle.  She was super cool and knowledgeable.
