Stopped here for lunch in our way up to Montreal and we were so glad we did. We decided to share a mix of plates and decided on the cesear salad, arugula pizza, and smoked salmon plate. The smoked salmon plate introduced me to my first bialy which was was such a delicious and crunchy pairing to the salmon. Cesear salad was a touch on the salty side but was very delicious. Arugula pizza had the sweetest cherry tomatoes that added a fresh kick. This place was packed at 2PM which is always a great sign. More...
Good food great service and we will dine here again. Most years when I visit Saratoga for the race season we don't make a reservation anywhere in town and just find a place that can seat us. This was the first time I reserved a table and am glad that I did. Max London's is a great place. More...
Great food and service. Wine by the glass is also reasonable and good. Shared pizza with spouse last time here. Again, food doesn't disappoint and service is friendly. Good experience as usual.
Service was outstanding and the food was better! Try the shoestring fries and tuna sandwich...awesome!
Linguini and clams was nice. Bolognese good as well.
Food was phenomenal service was excellent
Lovely nibbles with my sister for a long needed catch up. Sweet and efficient staff. Delicious environment and food.
Great location, food. drinks, and service. Worth trying
Best brunch in Saratoga, hands down. Great selection of breakfast beverages, hard and soft. Fair prices for a spectacular menu full of spiced up classics and brand new delicacies. Definitely our new brunch place.
One of several reasons I insist on visiting Saratoga as often as possible.
Love this place. Try one of their pizzas. Great for date night, leave the kids home!
Food was wonderful as was our waitress. Bartender was more interested in talking to friends than waiting on us. We are locals
Very good food! Service was excellent!
Good food and good service
Excellent food and decor
I was in Saratoga Springs for a conference and came to this restaurant on my first night based on a recommendation of a colleague who's Mom lives here. The restaurant was nice and comfortable there was music on, but it wasn't too loud. There was a bar when you walked in. The menu was expansive with lots of great sounding salads, soups, appetizers and larger dishes. It included pasta and seafood dishes. We all opted for the 2 for $22 which I thought was a great deal. I ended up getting the creamy tomato soup and a salmon dish. The salmon was cooked to perfection with a crispiness on the outside which was really great. The tomato soup was good. Though the salads looked even better and I kind of wish I got the beet salad. We were so stuffed by the end so we didn't look at the dessert menu. I also ordered the white sangria which was tasty and made me feel like I should be on the beach. Another person in our party ordered the mussels which was a very large serving as the starter and others a house salad which they said was good, the beet salad which looked good, and another person order the pizza which looked fantastic. Definitely a nice place and I believe they have a patio in the summer. More...
I think we locals forget about Max Londons. It's been here for years now. But we just had a great time for a quick dinner. I made a reservation on Open Table and mentioned that we were trying to make a move an hour after our dinner reservation. The hostess called me almost instantly to let me know that there were earlier times available but, because of our sitter issue we couldn't do that. She let the waitstaff know and everyone worked really quickly so we could have a lovely meal while still making our movie. Great customer service. The drinks were great (the bee sting was a delicious take on the bees knees with more ... well ... sting.). I had the shrimp and calamari small plate. Garlicy, Smokey, and perfectly cooked (no rubber bands or chewy shrimp here). My wife had the arugula pizza which I found too sweet (it had balsamic and cherry tomatoes) but she loved it. We need to remember Max Londons for future dates More...
So I never write reviews, but today I felt inspired to. We decided to dine at Max Londons even though we didn't have a reservation, which we should have for a Saturday night. We were out enjoying the day and did not know our plans for the evening (we recommend making them if you know you want to visit here). We were sat on the outside patio on their bakery side. The food was exceptional, the ambiance was amazing, the weather was perfect for a night dining on the patio, but what really amazed us was the staff, from the hostesses to the waitress to the person bringing our food. Our waitress was smiling and laughing with her guests, making jokes and taking time to interact with us. We were impressed by how much she was balancing between. We counted 8 tables total she had at a given time while helping customers ordering baked goods in the bakery too. We just couldn't believe how well she was handling it all and we told her so. Her name was Long, we recommend her if you visit. We will be sure to look for her again on our next visit. Thank you for a perfect evening. More...
Excellent place for an afternoon croissant and some coffee. The staff is very charming.
Great food tentative service, recommended!
The service was fantastic, we were seated immediately. It was a family friendly brunch, that was very tasty. The French onion soup was delicious!
Awesome, just awesome!
Enjoyed drinks at the bar, followed by dinner . Katie the hostess was very accommodating and quick to seat us. Brooke and Courtney displayed excellent customer service skills. They were attentive and always with a smile . We had the surf and turf special which was delicious . Paired with a tasty appetizer of shrimp and squid . We also enjoyed the Bolognese. Which has light pasta and a great sauce. Very nice evening all around. More...
Their breakfast pizzas are great as well as their brunch drinks.
Love going here when we're in town. Great food. Staff is friendly. They are very strict regarding reservations.
Good happy hour

Great food and service
Bre was very friendly and the speciality pizza were out of the world
Always a lovely atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in NYC!
What a great atmosphere! Drinks were great and the food was amazing!!
Great food and atmosphere.
Love the flourless chocolate cake.
i have never eaten there but it is a part of mrs. london's coffee shop which is next door and is by far saratoga's best coffee shop. their pastries are amazing but not weight watchers recommended. More...
Really enjoyed Max London's. The food was good and it's quite a nice place for a date or more intimate dinner. They have an excellent selection of cheeses and the pasta is served in large portions. The drinks were about average but maybe a little on the pricier side if you were going out just for that. Parking is a huge hassle because of it's location, but there's nothing that can really be done about that, but it gives you am excuse to walk around downtown Saratoga. It was pretty busy on the Friday night we visited so make sure to book a reservation. More...
Best brunch in Saratoga
Filet mignon eggs Benedict was delicious!
Another wonderful brunch!
Friendly place ...service alway
Good food, good service. We came in at the end of food service the night and they accommodated us by putting in our groups food orders when they could have shut us down.

Excellent dinner. I enjoyed the scallops. Others at the table had the beet salad, rigatoni, Bolognese, chicken, and gnocchi. Everyone enjoyed their food. Service was excellent. More...
Overall a pretty nice place to eat! Service, atmosphere, and entree were quite good(I got the salmon)! A few things need improvement:1. You don't get straws apparently for your drinks. So enjoy the ice cubes hitting you in the face every time you take a sip.2. You don't get butter or anything for your bread. They just give you some plain bread which I thought was very odd. When I asked for butter the server said "There's olive oil and vinegar on the table as well." I thought that was for salads and not bread?3. No condiments except for the olive oil and vinegar. My food needed to be salted pretty badly and there was no salt or pepper. I guess they're going for a 'purist' or 'minimalist' theme here lol. You gotta ask for everything! Sorry, server!4. DO NOT ORDER THE SHRIMP AND SQUID APPETIZER. That is, unless you like being punched in the face with smoked paprika. Paprika goes a long way and this dish is literally like half a cup of smoked paprika dissolved in oil with some shrimp and tiny squid rings sitting in it. You can't taste the garlic, you can't taste the parsley, you can't even taste the shrimp or squid. It's bitter and burnt tasting. Horrible! All things considered I'd give it another try and just make sure to ask for basic things like straws, condiments, and butter in advance lol. More...
Love Max London's! Great fresh food and friendly service!

Terrific Roast Chicken special
Great restaurant in walking distance from Hampton Inn. Rigatoni was wonderful.

Delicious Sunday brunch omelette. Busy place and I can see why
Food was great. Prompt friendly service.
We stop by Max's every time we are in Saratoga. There are food choices in a variety of price ranges and everything we have ever eaten here is good. The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is both trendy and casual. More...
Food smells amazing... WiFi was okay.
Food was great as well as the Bloody Mary However they never brought out our sides to the main dish and service was definitely slow and lacking.
Love this place.
Always a great meal! Our go to place in Saratoga Springs. We drive 45 minutes just to have dinner there. We've been four times over as many years and the food and staff are always top notch!
Fruit Gal 522
This was the perfect breakfast spot for my husband, mom and step dad. We all got totally different things, but everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. My husband got a breakfast calzone and was amazed at how thin the crust was, but how packed with meat and eggs it was. I got the smoked salmon sandwich which came on basically a thin bagel. It was so satisfying. Mom got your basic 2 eggs any style with hash browns and chose a side of fruit, and my stepdad got a turkey sandwich with a beautiful salad starring frisee. Anyway, great service- fast and friendly, despite it being a packed house. Good vibes and would definitely go back. Highly recommended. Enjoy! More...
Nice place. Good service and good food. A little pricey.
The pizza was awesome, who would of thought a egg cracked open and cooked on top of the pizza would taste so damn good, I'm sure the truffle oil helped! Nice wine selection, very helpful and friendly staff even with how busy it was, perfect lunch before the races! More...

Food was amazing. The service was a little disrupted for a party of 12 which can be expected. Definitely recommend.
Great food and service!
This place is awesome! We went here on a whim the first night and came back and waited an hour to eat our second night! The atmosphere, staff, and wine list were amazing. The food was out of this world!
What a wonderful place! You may see menu items you've seen before but never prepared as well and with such great ingredients as at London's.
Excellent service, good food, fair value
Gre as t pastries and lunches coffees too
Great brunch menu food is awesome
Celebrated the New Year with family over Saturday Brunch! Prices are friendly, and the food is superb. If you love champagne (and who doesn’t?) I would strongly recommend the Champagne and St Germain signature cocktail off the brunch menu! As for food options, the whole menu looked to be top notch. The salt cod and potato cakes with poached eggs was heaven. Will be headed back sooner than later! More...

Good food and drinks, good service. A little pricey, but location and quality are very good
Food is very good, service great, they really get busy.
What a fantastic experience! We had great service and the food was outstanding! This was all around, one of the best restaurants we've ever dined in! Looking forward to our next visit.
Ryan, the restaurant owner, could not have been nicer to two soon to be new full time retired Saratoga Springs residents! The bartender indicated that Ryan wanted to buy us a drink as he left the restaurant for the evening. This, after he ran around the corner to see if he had a special dessert left to offer is! And the drink, mussels and hummus we had so the bar were all excellent! Nice atmosphere, very friendly staff, good food, good drinks! A real winner. We'll be back often! More...
Excellent food every time
This place has been around for a long time, and it’s very good. I had an interesting cream-of-tomato soup with cheddar cheese in it; they also do good personal pizzas.
Great pastrys and the food in the restaurant is good as well
Can't forget the good smell of coffee. Nice place, great food, nice tourist and neighborhood. Will come back.
Great food and drinks. Loved it!
Excellent for drinks or dinner.
Wonderful Sunday brunch with killer Bloody Mary's. Only down side long wait for a table and slow service. However no one rushes you. All in all a great experience

Some of the best food in Saratoga Springs, NY!!!
Lovely beet salad
Good food. Attentive staff.
Trendy but comfortable with great food and good service.

Food was delicious! Great atmosphere. Although busy, service was prompt. Dined outside on a warm Friday night. Will definitely return.
Everything was great except the young hostess who felt the need to lecture us on outdoor seating.

Great place in Saratoga Springs! Sandwich, Pizza and lot of smiles from knowledgable staff. Check out the menu. 05/20/18 just removed a star... Still great but the Espresso coffee shouldn't be served that way. Will we come back? You bet! Oh and Bre B was great! More...

Max London’s is a must for Saratoga. The place was hopping for brunch with people enjoying the outdoor seating as well as the trendy interior. Service was fantastic and oh did we mention the food. Unique drinks and food, great atmosphere inside and out.
Best salted cod cakes in the world! Our love to Tyler.
Excellent service and food. Has the Spicy Tuna appetizer and pizza.
Max London's is the kind of restaurant that every town deserves. They offer spectacular brunch options, but their pizzas and dinner choices are excellent as well. Additionally, their bar is backed by a phenomenal wine list and expertly mixed cocktails. There are several restaurants in Saratoga on our list to try, but Max London's makes our to do list every time we visit. More...

Love their brunch!
Fantastic. Always great food and service.
I'm a regular her. 9/10 everything will be great. Some of my favorites are the chickpea fries, apple salad, or the mussels for starters. Their pizzas are awesome and if they have a pork chop on the daily special you should get it. Vegan options also available. More...
One of the best spots for brunch. More bloody Mary's!
Very good food, nice people. Bit of a wait, it's a popular place. Not cheap, but it's Saratoga and the food is excellent.
Loved every second of it! Definitely a pricier place, but completely worth it. The seasonal creations are amazing.
Loved their brunch/lunch personal pizza.

Solid food and the bakery attached is a must!!!
Great brunch here. Servers were quick and courteous. Highly recommended.
Place had great service and decor. Prices were a little high for what you got . the portions are very small. I ordered a rigatoni dish that literally had 15 pieces of pasta, which was $25. All in all not bad food
I Eat Saratoga
I love this place. I usually get a spot at the bar, but have eaten in the dining room on several occasions. The bartenders here are great. The drinks are delicious, and they genuinely seem to enjoy their craft. The food is also great. I generally stick to the appetizer, pizza, and brunch menus though. I don't know if I've ever ordered an entree here come to think of it. Service is good as well. I never recall having to wait very long, or being annoyed with a server in the 50+ times I've been here, so two thumbs up! It's too bad that they don't take reservations, but you really can't fault them for that. More...
A little pricey and there usually isn't any room to sit at the bar but it has nice atmosphere and the staff are always very nice
The food was great! Menu changes nightly except some pizza and pasta dishes.
Absolutely delicious. Best Bloody Mary I've ever had! Tried the salt cod potato pancakes and the pulled smoked chicken hash. Both were unreal. Will definitely go back next time I'm in Saratoga Springs! More...
Quite simply the best restaurant in Saratoga. The food is fresh, imaginative, beautifully prepared and presented, and reasonably priced. Personal favorites: the shrimp and chorizo pizza (or any of their pizzas), all of their salads, the piggy-back dates. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. More...
Brunch and happy hour are my two favorite things at Max London's. Only giving a 4 star because of how expensive their cocktails are (10-12). However their food is amazing, and I would ask for the brunch bread basket deal-all really yummy scones and croissants. More...
Consistent and solid.A great place to go for a lunch with your co-workers, especially those you wish to appear respectful in front of. The food is always good, the atmosphere is classy but not arrogant, the service is friendly and it's not too busy during lunch hours. After work this place picks up a bit and has a very talkative crowd. For those who wish to socialize and relax rather than get drunk and be rowdy.Good any time of day, always recommended. More...
Fantastic food. Excellent guidance by our waiter (ask for Chooch), who said sharing was actually encouraged. Got the beet salad (flavorful and crunchy), Brussells sprouts (oh, the cream sauce), mussels (perfectly done, though a couple closed shells), and the clam pizza. Every single bite was magnificent. The other reviewers who complain about garlicky clams in the clam pizza clearly have a spice taste-span of butter and salt; the pizza was spot-on. Even the less-expensive wines on the wine list don't feel like a punishment. Trendy alt-rock playing in the background, loud enough to know they have good musical taste, but well quiet enough so you can have a normally-spoken dinner conversation. Would go back tonight to try more stuff on the menu. Everything looks splendid. More...

Great food! We had pulled pork hash, French toast, and scrambled eggs. Everything was very good. I enjoyed my pork hash more than my boyfriend's french toast...very filling! I recommend trying this brunch cocktail: champagne and lemonade. Delish! A nice change from the usual mimosa, and the champagne/lemonade mix here was something special. Cheers! More...
Max London's is my must-go whenever friends from out of town are visiting. Great atmosphere, great food, and at the right times, great specials. For drinks, the red wine Sangria is my go-to, and get there during happy hour because they are 2 for 1 (per person) at the bar. "At the bar" is an important part of that statement, however -- so don't ask your server to give you this special from your table, because they're pretty inflexible about it.The balsamic provided for your bread basket at each table is the best I've ever had (Saratoga Olive Oil Co. Traditional Balsamic) and I'm glad they carry. Not as big a fan of the flavor-infused olive oil though.Apps are great: I like the selection of meats and cheeses, and the bacon-wrapped dates are delicious, as are the polenta fries. For entrees, I've had some great pasta and seafood dishes, but to be economic I usually like to come on Wednesday nights for the $9 pizza special (there are ALWAYS leftovers!). My favorite pizzas are clam/pancetta and mushroom/egg.I've never tried dessert, but I'm happy to see that it's not the same stuff from Mrs. London's next door. The dessert menu features some very eccentric, intriguing dishes (e.g. manchego with quince paste). I'll have to splurge on it sometime.I hear they do a great brunch but I haven't tried that yet either.I love going to Max London's... it makes me feel chic without spending a ton of money (especially when you take advantage of the specials), and whether I'm feeling super casual or super fancy I can go there and feel like I fit in no matter what. Great ambiance and I've never been disappointed with a meal. Already thinking about when I'll be able to go there next! More...
A little pricey but really offers a big city vibe. Most waiters are excellent as are the bartenders.
You can get me in the door of just about any restaurant with the word "lobster," so when I saw lobster pizza on the Max London's menu, I pretty much dragged the rest of my family off the sidewalk and up to the hostess stand. The atmosphere was lively without feeling overwhelming, but it was definitely a bit too loud to have a conversation with anyone other than the person sitting directly next to you. Our server was fantastic; she was always on top of making sure we had everything we needed, and she was very patient when we asked a million questions about the menu and then kept saying we were ready to order, only to find out that we actually needed more time. I wish I had thought to get her name so she could get some recognition for the great job she is doing, but whoever she is, I hope she keeps up the good work!I really enjoyed the bread and olive oil that they set out before the meal. The bread was very moist and fluffy, and yet it had a hearty sort of quality to it. The olive oil comes from the local Saratoga Olive Oil Company, and had a very strong but tasty flavor.Of course I got the lobster pizza, and it did not disappoint. Aside from chunks of lobster meat, it was also topped with spinach, halved grape tomatoes, and ricotta cheese. The crust was a little burnt (which made it kind of dry), but I just dipped it in the table olive oil and that helped it go down a little easier. I thought about just regressing to how I ate pizza as a kid (leave the crust behind), but the olive oil really helped a bit. Even though the crust was a bit of a letdown, the rest of the pizza was really good. All in all, we had a pleasant evening (though I would probably go back with just my husband, as the noise level made it difficult for the whole group to converse). More...

This is a very hip, fine restaurant. We were a little put off by the hostess who wouldn't split a set of two-tops in a four table configuration at the front of the restaurant on an empty Monday night and sat us at the server station instead. We did, however, get to chat with our server which was actually quite enjoyable. The salad with apples, manchego cheese, and serano ham was great. Likewise the chorizo and rock shrimp pizza with the red pepper and chili crema. The ambience was nice, although, to my mind, if you're going to put candles on the table they should be going when you open, not at 7pm as we were leaving. It's an oddly configured space, two thin non-restaurant spaces put together with a bridge. Bar and kitchen on one side, restaurant on the other. It works, but it would be a bit harder to navigate if crowded.Service was excellent. They lose a star for the hostess. Would love to come back there some time and give them number five for a flawless evening. It was close. More...
Literally stumbled upon this place on the way up to SO's lakehouse on Friday. Randomly stopped in Saratoga to take care of some last minute business before maxim-relaxin for the weekend. It was raining men when we were finished with that and we were hungry to boot. Why continue the drive in the rain when we could get a nice lunch in Saratoga? We crossed our fingers that when lunch was over so too would the rain be. Anywho. We got the umbrella and speed-walked down Broadway and when we spotted Max London's we knew it was THE ONE. Nice ambiance and although the lunch menu was not too big there is certainly something for everyone. And it was obvious that the menu changes often so I like that too. I had the tuna sandwich and SO had the hot pastrami. The meal came quickly but it was obvious that it was freshly made. The tuna sandwich was made with olive aioli and arugula and came with a side salad and their homemade pickles (sweet, fyi). Really delish on the baguette. The housemade pastrami smelled great and SO cleaned his plate so we know it's true that with Vermont cheddar and carmelized onions, you can't go wrong ordering this on rye!I want to come back for brunch. Let's hope it rains on our next trip to the Adirondacks! More...
Stumbled upon this place on our way up to the Adirondacks from NYC - cool little town, and was pleasantly surprised by the vast array of culinary options. If you were to "peg" Max Londons (son) and Mrs. Londons (mom) bakery next door, expect to come to the likely conclusion that this talented family opted for 3 cuisines since they couldnt settle for 1! It will test the weakest will power, each confection simply beautiful as well as rich. Waltz across to Max's place where Spain and Italy collide (and mom provides all the breads and pastries/confections). Expect to be greeted by hauty-snooty hostesses, but to be swept away by down to earth service and outstanding food. John can shake a mean dirty martini and thoroughbread wonder worker Meredith (what a doll!) will ensure your wine pairs fabulously with your meal while she stimulates your pavlovic senses as she describes what will be a pricey but OH SO WORTH EACH MORSEL meal. The menu changes seasonally, but the approach is the same - appetizers, tapas style, full portions and pizzas. Very eclectic "Spanitalian"...Saturdays soft shell crab and mushroom pizza were so memorable, we HAD to get there for brunch. The Duck Confit, poached and three potato hash... rich, elegant.... divine! If you are lucky, Mr. Londonwill site himself around tables, welcome you and proudly display the bakery casings and the very impressive reviews posted on the walls. He has quite bit to brg about! Just forgive the hostesses... And the on-going battle with local bed and breakfasts, who are still reminded by some very disappointed guests of the restaurants unwillingness to accommodate them (betcha it HAD to be the inexperienced and hauty hostesses...). Open minded and empty stomach. Food and service are worth taking the time to enjoy the ambiance and the meal! More...
I first ate at Max London's about 8 months ago. Since then, I've been there several times and the food has always been consistently very good. But the reason I'm updating my review today is because I ate there earlier this week and the meal was truly epic. It deserved a new review. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. This experience is definitely worth 6 stars.Max London's has been holding occasional communal dinners (everyone participating sits at one big table), organized around a theme. This time, the inspiration was a line of artisanal New York state whiskey's (who knew?) The company is called Tuthilltown Spirits (they're down near Poughkeepsie) and they make an amazing series of whiskeys and other spirits: corn whisky, rye whiskey, a single malt, rum and apple vodka. (All made with locally grown product of course.) These events themselves are really fun (more about that later.) If you hear of one and want a special meal, run, don't walk to your phone to make a reservation.First, I have to say that the meal was easily one of the best meals I've ever eaten. Not only were the individual dishes incredibly delicious. But the four courses together made a symphony -- they were perfectly matched to go together as a meal, and that is not as easy as it sounds. The second thing that was epic about this dinner was the audacity of pairing whiskey with food. Honestly, the idea didn't appeal to me when I first heard about it. I was curious. But these whiskeys are so well-crafted that they are a perfect mate to food, just as fine wine and food enhance each other. These whiskeys have a surprising clarity and freshness of taste that doesn't overwhelm food, but instead goes perfectly. Here was the menu:1. a little "amuse" of grilled pork belly and porter cheddar 2. a spinach salad, perfectly dressed, with black lentils and a rye toast with some broiled smoked blue cheese. This dish was paired with a taste of the corn whiskey (neat) and an incredibly delicious and barely sweet old fashioned, made with the corn whiskey.3. pork crepinette (seasoned ground pork - almost like a sausage but not in that shape) served over mixed greens. This dish was served with a four-grain whiskey, served neat.4. slow roasted local pork, with a gratin of apples and squash. The slow roasting brought out lovely caramelization. This dish was served with a taste of their Manhattan Rye whiskey and a barely sweet Manhattan.5. a bourbon spice cake with homemade fig ice cream, served with a flute of single malt whiskey. (This is made from malted barley, as is scotch, it is not smoked. Even if you're not a scotch drinker, you should try this. It cannot be compared to scotch. It is a delicious, round, tasty whisky that is clean and really does go beautifully with dessert.)The whiskeys and the mixed drinks they served were superb (kudos also to the bartender!). And sometimes food descriptions can be hard to take - so much description, but how does it taste?. In this case, it wasn't just excellent. It was memorable and I will be talking about this dinner for a long time. Plus, I never would have thought to order a manhattan or old fashioned with food. But the next time I go to Max London's and have pork ( or perhaps even other savory dishes), I will definitely do this. I would even go so far as to say that these drinks were even better with the particular dishes than a glass of wine would have been. They savory nature of the food and the drinks actually complemented each other perfectly. If you have a chance to go to another one of these dinners, don't miss it. Max London's is not cheap. But these dinners are a great value. We had a marvelous 4-course meal, paired with drinks, for $75 (plus tip). (And the portions were not small plates - I was full). It was a convivial dinner with interesting table mates. And we got to sit and visit with the distiller (and company founder) and learn a lot about their product. More...
A bit pricey as other yelpers have mentioned, but beyond excellent. I went in the fall before Hat's Off and had a pomegranate belini and shared the truffle pizza with two friends. To. Die. For. If I could find a grocer near me that sold tellagio cheese I would definitely try to recreate this dish. We sat at the bar where the atmosphere is nice. You may be close to another party but you don't feel like it. The bartender was helpful and chatty, giving honest opinions on queried menu items. Max London's definitely delivers the same quality and class that it's neighboring and sister store, Mrs. London's, has delivered to Saratoga natives for many years.First-timers to the area should know that on a Friday or Saturday night parking can be a pain during track season. There's parking within walking distance in lots on Broadway but there is also a garage on Putnam St across from Ben & Jerry's, with more parking in a lot to the left of that. Not too far of a walk, but if you're planning on wearing heels and to be out until 2 a.m. I suggest wedges or cute flats. More...
Manhattan-style food Upstate in SaratogaBut prices came too
First note, this is not a very veggie friendly - lots of good looking dinners except for little bits of meat. I was able to have a plain pizza and that was yummy. Better yet, the drinks were yummy. We had a wide variety of drinks and dinners and were all very pleased. Our server was friendly and understanding (we got there at 6:15 and didn't leave until 10). It was a nice little place and well worth visiting. I would return should I come to the area again. More...
My husband and I were staying in Lake George at the Inn at Erlowest (TBR- can I create a new yelp word?) and hiking in the surrounding tongue mountains, and came across a fellow hiker who recommended Max Londons in Saratoga Springs .The 20 minute drive was a lot more highway than we bargained for, but still we were happy to arrive in the sleepy, platonic-idyllic town that was Saratoga Springs.Which made entering Max London's rather strange. I've only been to Manhattan a few times, and I am far from being a cosmopolitan conniseur, but the atmosphere and even clientele at ML was more reminiscent of NY than anywhere I've ever been. Which isn't to say it was bad- it just felt very lounge-y, with piping music and what seemed to me a highly thought out urban-meets-earth-mother design aesthetic. But the ambiance and feel was still highly enjoyable. Food-wise, were were highly satisfied. The beet salad was superbly dressed, and the flat pizza delicous. The anchovi carpaccio was unique to my tastebuds. The food to me though did seem priced big-city accordingly, but maybe $15 tapas is a steal in NY these days.I loved strolling through saratoga on the September night when we were there. The weather was brisk, the streets bustling, the people incredibly friendly and we were on vacation. So...we were in pretty awesome spirits and so it is hard for me to separate experience at ML from my experience in Saratoga. I give them four stars for decent food and ambiance, and sadly enough, I will not be back to provide a second review anytime soon. More...
Actually if it wasn't for the people eating here, I would have given the place 5 stars (more on that in a bit.). The "small plates" were excellent. The pizzas looked fabulous as did the larger pasta dishes. Our waitperson Vanessa was knowledgeable about the entire menu and the wine list. She paced our meal to our request and allowed us to have an enjoyable evening as well as proving to be a good conversationalist herself. We ordered a sampling of meat and cheese which were fresh and complimented one another. We then tried the mussels small dish... and while slightly "fishy" in taste, they were as fresh as one can expect this far away from the ocean. The sauce they were bathed in was excellent for dipping a wide assortment of breads.I do recommend the Gobble (or was it Gobbler) as a cocktail.... wild Turkey, orange and cranberry juices... and as I said before, have your waitperson pair up the wine for you...The decor is trendy and modern but not sterile and slightly cozy due to the exposed brick. The bar is separate from the dining area so conversation is not distracted by television. My one complaint was the sheer number of people who were toying away on their Crackberries like they were high schoolers trying to look cool or something. Sitting in a restaurant with folks bathed in PDA Blue Light (often while their co-diners sat next to them) is just so cheesy. C'mon people. Stay home if your Virtual World needs to mix with the real world. A few cellphones also rang while we were there... where were the signs to discourage this? If I was sitting with you, you would have had mussels on your head. Trust me, no one is this important. On the brightside, no one was looking like a cyborg with a BlueTooth earpiece... More...
I say run do not walk to this outstanding place. We stumbled across it by walking Broadway and peering into the window. We almost passed because it was a Friday night, the bar was quite full and of course we had no reservation. We found a couple of seats at the bar and had a couple well-poured martinis and some great conversation not only with the staff but several friendly patrons as well. And thank God no one was discussing horses. The bar staff was outstanding, swift and very courteous, making several suggestions for appetizers of which we ordered 3. Polenta fries, white anchovies and I do not remember the 3rd. /insert 3rd martini here/The hostess made sure that we were able to be seated for dinner whereupon we had two salads, the squid and some thing else. /insert 4th martini here/ Dinner service was also flawless, thank you, Shannon.Everything was absolutely outstanding. A friend joined us and was also very impressed with the fact that Max's serves Ono, a rare find here in the East.As we wound down the evening, a handsome man came to our table, perhaps because we were loud and having such a great time, perhaps because my friend is a 40's period dresser and I am covered in tattoos... I said, "Hey, is this your joint, we love it!" And Max said laughing, "Yes, this is my joint." He sincerely inquired about our experience in his joint and welcomed us back at any time.Quite refreshing and we know what an elitist bitch I can be regarding dining.A shout out to our bartender (Seth) whom I appropriately nicknamed Sid Vicious, thanks for a great evening. I looked forward to the opening of Max London's for quite awhile and now that it has, I am quite pleased. I went to Max's for drinks within its first week of business, but waited a week or two to eat there once the hype/crowds dwindled a bit. The place is still pretty hoppin on weekends, but make reservations and you should be fine...or go after 9 and you can probably find room at the bar at eat there. The bar area is really pleasant. Clean and classic. Good selection of international beers and then a long list of wines and creative cocktails. The pomegranate drink is quite delicious and I once ordered a Maximus which is a concoction of Prosecco, Campari and Blood Orange Juice. My friend was ordering a Maximus, too, and I made a dorky joke that's not worth sharing with you, but I am going to anyway. "Should I order us two Maximi?" I asked her. She gave me an embarrassed look. We ordered our drinks separately. As far as the food is concerned, the menu has about 10-15 tapas, 3 or 4 salads, about 8 pizzas, and then 4 or 5 entrees that change every night. There are also salad and tapas specials that change daily, too. My favorites of the tapas dishes are the mussels (in a great paprika red broth), the polenta fries, which come with a creamy olive tapenade, and the artichoke hearts which are marinated in olive oil, shallots (I think) and Serrano ham, creating a very smoky flavor. But, on my 4th or 5th time at Max's (I am editing now), I finally got someone who shares my love of dates to sample the Piggyback Dates with me. I think these are now tied with the fries. Really great dates (purchased at Saratoga Apple, I hear) are stuffed with blue cheese and crushed almonds and then wrapped in Serrano ham and baked. They are delicious. I want to try to make them myself sometime. The polenta fries, though simple sounding, are really also a must have. Of the pizzas, I like the BLT best, and in this acronym, the L stands for leeks not lettuce and they are grilled and tasty. I've tried a few entrees: a quail dish with a summertime melon and tomato and mint salad as well as a delicious and spicy pork plate. Everything I've tried, I've liked. The waitstaff has pleased me on almost all occasions, and I think overall, the staff is great!Oh, also, I love the women's restroom. Such a clever idea. More...
