This evening was our first visit to Magnolias. Â We went to celebrate the hub's birthday. Â We sat in one of the private dining rooms upstairs, which was perfect for our family of five. Â They had birthday balloons waiting for us and even printed a personalized menu with his name on the top for him. Â The food was wonderful and the portions were good sized. Â In addition to these pictures, we also got the fried green tomatoes as a starter. Â They were devoured too quickly to get a pic. Â Delicious!!! Â Also had the kids Alfredo pasta, which they loved, but the pic was blurry. More...

What a special place! I dined here on Christmas Eve during the day time and fortunately it was not during a busy time. Beautifully decorated for the holidays on top of already being a neat historic, rustic mill setting. I decided on a burger which was pricey but my goodness, so good and great smoky flavor. Applewood smoked bacon on it was perfection. Our server was nice and on the ball- really attentive. The highlight of my meal here was a unique dessert. A poached pear with creme fraiche and drizzled in a divine sauce. Not a guilt inducing, heavy dessert, just light and delicious. I think this would be the ideal place to come for a very nice family meal. More...

Really liked this place. Too bad the beers are not good. Tried 4 and liked one, but then they were out of the one I liked. When I say not good, I mean funky. Coconut stout. Pumpkin something. This is my issue with so many of the local breweries - the beers are too strange. But the food was good. BF had the fish and chips, and I had the Louis Loco pork sandwich. Mine was like a Cuban sandwich, only it wasn't pressed. It was excellent. The fish and chips were good, however personally I would've liked the fish to be a bit crispier. The french fries were average. The service was good, despite the fact they were pretty busy. They had a lot of tasty looking things on their appetizer menu, and I want to come back to try some of those. More...

Had our rehearsal dinner here and they were fantastic! Service was great, food and drinks were good, and they were really on top of everything throughout the night. Space was great for what we were looking for (rented out the upstairs). It offered the intimacy we were looking for for a fairly large group of people and it didn't feel crowded or stuffed. Will definitely return for a date night when we're back in the area. More...

Updating to 4 stars. I think there have been improvements to the menu. The stuff chicken thigh with Bakers Farm Bacon and a sage apple stuffing is amazing. Just a superior starter. And the prime beef short rib with fingerling potatoes, rasted onions, sprouts and the braising jus reduced is a flavor bomb worth ordering at any time. More...

Dined at Magnolia's last night with my wife and another couple. Â The rustic dining room was phenomenal. Â We were waited on by our server in minutes and were served our dinners promptly. Â My wife and I both had the Prime Rib special which was cooked as ordered and was delicious. Â Our friends complimented on how delicious their food was. Â Even though the restaurant is an hour drive for us we will definitely return. More...

Just had a delicious lunch at this restaurant in Purcellville. Â This was our third trip to Purcellville to specifically eat here. Â There are also cute shops to visit in the town. Â My husband had a great cheeseburger and I had the steak frites. Â I changed my side to their wonderful whipped potatoes. Â I especially loved their bread - it was great to have it with their house Pinot Noir. Â Kudos to our personable server Lucy who gave us such personal attention. Â We enjoyed chatting with her while she gave us great service. More...

Magnolias serves what appears to be an Asian American fusion that is truly "farm to fork" in a space that is both modern & visually historic. Magnolias opened in its current state in 2004 truly and successfully celebrating its history. Thus it provides an unconventional atmosphere for a very desirable dining experience. It's full bar opens up into a two-story loft while the entire dining room ceiling maintains many pipes, wheels and belts use by the old mill. Immediately after being seated at a table below hand blown glass mood lighting and wall quilts, a complementary focaccia and olive oil was placed on our table. Kudos to Kori, our server who patiently explained all the items we expressed an interest in making it so much easier for us to make an informed decision about what dishes we would enjoy. The $2.75 Iced Tea and the $8.00 Absoult & Cranberry were reasonable priced. Â At $8.00 the soup of the day was the most wonderful Mellon Gazpacho, mmm mmm good. At $12.00 the Crispy Coconut Shrimp in a citrus marmalade with grilled pineapple was an unexpected juxtaposition of flavor and texture. Â Delicate and crispy outside while moist inside this was mouth watering and delicious. At $18.00 the Lemongrass Grilled Chicken with sesame noodles, bok choy, spouts, broccoli, snow peas, cashew pieces all tossed in a vinaigrette dressing was the most delightful salad we'd both recommend. And, the coup de gras, was the $36.00 Grilled Bacon Wrapped Warshore Jumbo Scallops with a "street corn & poblano fricassee" and shrimp salad. Buddha, this was amazing! FYI, although I found the scallops to be too salty to eat all in one sitting, I took half home and finished them in a shrimp, mango and cucumber salad. As I don't ever add salt to anything I imagine I'm overly sensitive to it. All that said, I'd highly recommend this entre and I too would order it again and again. We especially loved the flickering lights during the thunderstorm. My sincerest San Franciscan thanks to everyone for a most memorable Virginian dining experience, five earned stars! More...

Simply wonderful!I made a reservation for my girlfriends birthday this past weekend on Open Table. When we arrived, the hostess even exclaimed Happy Birthday! We were sat at a quite booth and when she opened the menu she was again greeted with Happy Birthday printed on the menu. It made her feel very special. We ordered a couple drinks, they arrived quick. We started with the bruschetta  appetizer and sipped on our drinks while we waited for our entrees to arrive. I ordered the Bison burger and my girlfriend ordered the filet mignon, both were cooked perfectly. The bison burger was one of the best burgers I have ever had. To top off the dinner, we had the bread pudding, also incredible. Thanks for making it a special night, for a special girl. More...

We started with a couple drinks and bruschetta, followed with the bison burger and a 5oz filet. They burger was amazing!! One of the best I have had.
