Anne's cake is very good, and she is open to working on non-traditional designs. This came in handy with our Lovecraft-inspired wedding cake. Cthulhu on top of our cake looked amazing. Our only complaint is that we thought the figure would be a tad bigger based on the post-consultation design. Oh well, it still resulted in the desired response from our guests. I visit Mad Batter Bakery every time I make a trip back to the New Orleans area. I have ordered custom cakes that turned out better than I could've ever expected; I've eaten just about everything they make and haven't found anything I don't like! This is the sweetest little bakery I've ever visited. The decor is adorable, and the smell when you walk in is TO DIE FOR! !!! We attended a cake tasting on 8-19-2017.  I must say that our experience was fabulous.   The store decor is Alice and Wonderland themed which was unique.  The bakery itself was very neat, clean and very well maintained. We were seated and given a variety of delicious cakes, icings, and fillings to sample.  This experience was different from previous tastings,  she allowed you to actually formulate a custom cake vs giving you what "she " thought you might like.  The owner was attentive, thorough and knowledgeable. Her design expertise is unsurpassed based on previous examples of her work.  If you are looking for a cake vendor who can make your wishes come true, please visit this bakery.  The pricing is very reasonable as well.   I would highly recommend The Mad Batter Bakery. Mad Batter Bakery is a hidden gem in Chalmette. I sampled and viewed all the big bakeries - Gambinos, Swiss, Haydels - and it wasn't until I looked through the sample book at Mad Batter did I find the perfect cake for me. I know - Chalmette can feel like it's at the end of the world - but it is worth the trip to St. Bernard Parish to get one of their cakes. Maybe that's why they're not as well known - the folks out there in the parish are keeping the secret. Well let me be the one to tell all of the New Orleans area - you won't find cakes like this anywhere else. Her look book also indicated that she was LGBT-friendly, which while I wasn't having an LGBT wedding, provided another selling point for me.

My cake was absolutely gorgeous and unlike any other sample I saw in town. And the best part, it was DELICIOUS. She did my wedding cake and grooms cake and there was none left! My wedding venue coordinator remarked that she had never seen a wedding cake eaten in its entirety - and it wasn't because they weren't big enough. People were going back for seconds. Update Alert: Ok, so I returned to try the king cake, and yes it was delicious. I would probably place this cake on my top ten list for king cakes. It was fresh, soft, and fluffy. It was sweet, and would go well with coffee, or milk. I also tried the Russian cake, and vanilla bean cupcake. The cupcake was the best tasting cupcake I've ever eaten. It was stuffed with some kind of cream, that was pretty lovely. And the icing...oh the icing was soooooo good. The Russian cake. Hmmmm. So I've never eaten Russian cake, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to taste. But I can say that it tasted like toothpaste, all of it, especially the icing. Not my thing, but to each his own. Nice shop i hope they do well. At first when i heard there was another Bakery opening up i thought damn another one. This place is worth the stop, it is Alice in wonderland themed and looks pretty cool. I tried a couple random typical bakery goods and they were all good. They had some kind of mystery bag for $1 guess that is the ones that are messed up and not let it go to waste. Next time i am in the mood for Bakery sugary goods i will try them out again. I am Handicap and Parking can sometimes be problematic. Front door parking is limited to about 3 spaces, but i found out there is parking in the rear. I have hear others with complaints, but what new business starts off perfect. Most, if not all business start with hiccups or occasional not so great batches. If you do try something and you don't like it, tell them ( in a nice constructive way ) so they know and can try to make it better. How do you expect them to evolve without customer insight. Everyone that works there is super nice, they can help you decide what sweet treat you want. More...
