Please read my amazing review about this amazing brunch restaurant!!! It's the day after a night of drinking and of course the first thing I want is food. I check out yelp and fell in love with LuLus reviews, menu and of course mamosas. The place took reservations and I didn't have one but the bar was pretty large so it was easy for me to grab a spot. The bartender was an amazing! I'm sure she was the manager but she was a very sweet lady and made great conversation. I ended up getting the mamosa pitcher with my friend and it was amazing! More champagne than OJ so I was happy. My friend ordered the the Huervos Ranchero with shrimp and I ordered the red velvet waffles & chicken. My dish cake with a side of eggs and sausage gravy. I am not a fan of sausage gravy but OMG please get the gravy, it was delicious. The food was delicious!!! The only thing I didn't like was the waffle, the flavor was good but the texture did not please me. Overall the place was amazing and would recommend a brunch first date or a family breakfast. I will most definitely come back here when I'm in Richmond More...

LuLu's is one of our top 3 best brunch in Richmond! The huevos rancheros is my absolute favorite.  The service is always great for a very busy place.  Recommend you get yourself a reservation for brunch unless you don't mind a wait. More...

One of the nice places for brunch in Shockoe Bottom. Cool little vibe. Casual spot. Good food! Bottomless mimosas! I went with 5 friends. Our food was very good. I had the chicken and biscuits. I'd def recommend trying it! More...

This is a nice spot for brunch. It looks like it gets really busy so I would recommend getting there early or making reservations. The server was a little flaky and failed to follow up with us. We also had to remind her about items we ordered which were not brought to the table. The food was pretty good. I had the chicken and red velvet waffles. I've had better chicken and waffles before but it was a new spin on it which was fun. We also had the shrimp and grits. It was very runny so I'm not sure what that was all about. But the taste was good. I would definitely return again to try something else on the menu. More...

When I saw the pics of the velvet waffles on their page, I thought it was a hoax. I had to go to LuLu's to see this first hand for myself. There was no wait and the staff was very friendly.  It's a small cute restaurant in the upcoming shock bottom of Richmond, VA. I finally put my order in. The mimosa was ok. I received my food very quickly with a wait of no more than 10 minutes or less. I finally received my Red Velvet Waffles. I do not like strawberries but they had a strawberry mix sauce on the waffles that taste like HEAVEN!  The waffles came with maple syrup and cream cheese sauce on the side.  The RED VELVET WAFFLES ARE MAGICAL!! If I died today..my tummy would be truly satisfied with this being my last meal on earth!  The RED VELVET WAFFLES ARE AMAZING!! They were soft, moist and very flavorful!! I did not need any maple syrup just the cream cheese for the added touches! PLEASE COME HERE AND TRY THE RED VELVET WAFFLES...THEY WILL NOT DISAPPOINT!! More...

Lulu's is one of my favorite places to brunch in the Richmond area. My go to is the Atlantic omelette! There aren't many places that you can get lobster & crab in an omelette for a decent price. The mimosa pitchers are super strong however, I do think the prices are a little to high. One glass is $8! I haven't had bad service the time that I've eaten there. And employees are always pleasant. I do recommends that you make reservations prior to arrive especially if you have a big party. It's a small restaurant, so to alleviate wait time that would be your best option. More...

The food was good, the mimosas were expensive. It was eight dollars for a single mimosa and they didn't have a bottomless options so if you're going to brunch for food and drinks I wouldn't recommend this place but if you're just interested in good food, you can definitely try lulus. I'd recommend making a reservation because it was really packed. We went on a Sunday around 1:30pm. More...

The Atlantic omelette was delicious but my friend who ordered the same meal barely got any lobster and crab. Mine was overloaded with meat which I loved. The food did take a while to come out which gets them 4 stars. The biscuit was a bit dry and my son said he preferred the McDonald's biscuit. They allowed us to try some pecan cream cheese and it was so good. Ambiance is very cool and it is a great hipster spot. Would definitely visit again. More...

I really wanted to order the chicken and biscuit entree but it was SO much food. To my surprise, I could basically order the same entree minus the massive amount by getting a side of gravy, a biscuit and a fried chicken breast. The gravy was delicious!!! Super creamy and flavorful, with a little spicy kick to it. I loved it, but the amount they gave was disappointing. It wasnt even enough for half of the biscuit. The fried chicken was seasoned well but it was a little dry. The biscuit was good. I like that they toasted it a little so it was able to hold up against the gravy and chicken. Now when it comes to reservations, they have got A LOT to work on. We had a 12:30 reservation but didnt get seated until 1:05. There is absolutely no where to stand, so everyone is just squished into a tiny little area where you can see the stress on the hostess' faces. It was heartbreaking to see people continuously going up and getting an attitude with this poor girl over and over again complaining and acting like they were the only people with reservations still waiting to be sat. It was giving me SO much anxiety being stuck in a crowd with such a bad energy and sour puss faces. This was my first time here so I dont know if that's how they normally handle reservations, but if so, they could avoid a lot of pissed off people by not overbooking reservations! I would never come back here for Sunday brunch again, just to avoid all that nonsense. More...

Came here with a group of friends for the famous Sunday brunch! We had made a reservation prior due to the popularity of this place. The restaurants vibe was mainly given by its industrial decor. It was quite loud in the place but it was Sunday morning the place was packed! Our group was seated but had to wait very long for our orders to be taken ( the only reason I didn't give 5 stars! ) they had many veg options. We all enjoyed our food. Definitely recommend going to LULU for brunch ! Just make sure to get a reservation beforehand! More...

We eat at LuLu's most Friday evenings.  The food has always been consistently good. You will have a hard time finding consistently good food for the fair market price of their $19.99 three course menu.  Service on the other hand varies with the server you have the opportunity to sit with.  We have our list of avoids!!  We enjoy sitting with James.  He is friendly, honest and very attentive.  You drink never goes empty as he is always on top of everything.  Give Lulu's and James a try - you won't be sorry. Holy backdated Yelp review Batman! Sorry for the delay dear readers. We went here on January 1st, 2019 for brunch. Obviously we had done our fair share of partying the night before. We were staying at the Courtyard Marriott a few blocks up so a leisurely walk down to 17th street was chill. We got in and didn't really have to wait.  We sat at the bar and finally got some attention and served. I think the people working had also tied one on the night before. We were all rather hungover so the lackluster service should be forgiven. The food was pretty much like everyone says. It was darn good and well plated. I had the Shrimp & Stone-Milled Pimento Grits, my wife had the Chicken & Biscuit, and my sister had the Chorizo Frittata. I don't have a pic nor can I recall what my bro had. Did I mention we were all hungover? I remember the coffee was pretty good.Whatever the case that brunch hit the spot. We all needed it and LuLu's delivered. I would go back if ever I booked myself a room in downtown RVA.Peace. More...

Have been wanting to try brunch here for a long time but always seem to avoid going downtown. We had a reservation which I think is key, without one the wait would be ridiculous. The atmosphere is busy and noisy and tables are right next to eachother. This is somewhat typical of downtown Richmond brunch spots but is the reason I took off a star. I like being able to eat without someone bumping into me every couple of minutes. Now, onto the food. I ordered the chicken and biscuits and the red velvet waffle strawberry shortcake. The biscuits were fluffy and covered with yummy sausage gravy which could have used a bit more black pepper but still good. The chicken was flavorful and not dry and everything was drizzled with honey. It was served with scrambled eggs and country potatoes. The eggs were good, a lot of places mess up scrambled eggs but these were fluffy and great! The potatoes were good but nothing to write home about. The red velvet shortcake was good, I don't really believe in red velvet but I do believe in strawberry shortcake. I wish there were more strawberries but the cream cheese filling was good. Overall a solid brunch place. More...

Food: 5/5Ambiance: 4/5Service: 5/5Prices: 4/5First things first - MAKE A RESERVATION! Don't try to get in here in the middle of brunch service without a reservation. It most likely won't happen. Now that's out of the way: the food is very good, if not a bit overpriced. Drinks especially are a bit overpriced, but they do make their mimosas strong so you really only need one anyway. Service is good barring when they're very busy, but even so only had to wait a few mins longer than necessary. The ambiance is okay... it gets REALLY loud in the tiny space, especially with the kitchen and bar right there. Had to shout for my friends to hear me across the table. More...

LuLu's was a wonderful place for Brunch. The options for Brunch are finite but provide a good variety for any patron. Went to LuLu's for the first time this morning for a girls brunch and got the red velvet waffles since they are known as a staple! They did not disappoint! The 2 things that took this down to a 4 star review and not 5 is that half of my bacon was perfectly crispy and cooked and the other half looked like it barely touched the griddle. We had a solid breakfast at Lulu's this morning. We showed up right at 9am without reservations. People were showing up pretty rapidly but there were empty tables. We were told tables were for reservations only but we were there early enough to grab seats at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the friendly bartenders. We had bloody mary's (jalapeño). The heat of the jalapeño doesn't hit you immediately but it sure is spicy when it does. We had one chicken and biscuits and one biscuits and gravy. We both would go back for just the biscuits and gravy. Not a huge fan of the chicken. The biscuits were very filling and came with two fried eggs and breakfast potatoes too. Overall, delicious meal. We made reservations for Sunday brunch earlier in the week and it did not disappoint!  The brunch menu has a lot of great options, so much that it was hard to choose.  Our party had the chicken and biscuit, crab cake Benedict and the red velvet waffle and all was delicious.  I'm not normally a fan of breakfast potatoes, but these were actually really tasty and portion sizes were more than enough.  We had some breakfast cocktails, the Moscow mule and the bacon bloody which were just okay, I'd probably forgo both next time and try the dark and stormy instead.  Service was excellent and I was glad we made reservations although the tables seemed to turn fairly quickly, especially if you are a smaller party.  It's extremely noisy so don't expect to have any deep meaningful conversations - you should be focusing on your food anyway!  Will definitely be returning. Really good brunch place!!! Good service food was amazing - savory and sweet!!!! We tried the Lulu's Benedict, the Red Velvet Waffle Strawberry Shortcake and the cheeseburger. The eggs benedict was really good with the crunchy english muffin and the sauce went really well with the salt of the ham. The eggs weren't as runny as expected but they were still good. I think the sauce could have had more of a lemon flavor. The cheeseburger was really big with egg and it was really filling. But the mixture of everything in the burger was good. The waffle shortcake was delicious - made out of the waffles and cream cheese. It was a little sweet but strawberry was cold and fresh. More...

I hate overly long drawn out reviews. So here goes, when you want to come to Lulu's make sure you make a reservation (I didn't and we waited at the bar for an opening). I liked that the staff knows how to work under pressure without rushing or being rude. We had the Eggs and Lobster biscuit (lobster omelette on a sliced biscuit) and Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles. Strawberry mimosa and a beermosa to wash it down. The omelette was cooked perfectly! The sauce on top was rich and delicious. Chicken part was well seasoned and the waffle was crispy and not too sweet. Normally, I don't care for the hash browns because people don't seasoned or over/under cook it. These were nicely seasoned and crispy but soft on the inside. Oh did I say I hate long     reviews? Ha! More...

Richmonders, we know this is a great place for brunch but please, please, please make it your choice for dinner as well.  I celebrated there with friends last night, and sadly, the place was almost empty.  Don't let the 17th Street construction keep you from enjoying a fabulous dinner, reasonably priced.  We started with the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower as an appetizer, and my seafood risotto was resplendent with lobster, shrimp, and scallops, perfectly cooked.  Our waiter was fun and at the end of our meal even warned us of an impeding thunderstorm in case we wanted to get to our cars before it struck.  We were told the owner has plans for outside dining once construction is complete.  Support this gem of a restaurant! I went here last Saturday with friends and it is definitely up there as best brunch in RVA. I had the Atlantic omelette, which had crab and lobster. It was really good. Oh and the potatoes! Wow. Best potatoes ever. The only downfall is it's a small location so the tables are elbow close to one another. You can barely hear each other talk because of how loud it is. Great brunch spot with a well deserved good reputation! The food is fantastic! Their menu has a variety of delicious versions of classic brunch items. Try the red velvet waffles just cuz they're amazing! We got some to share with the table, but there were so many good options we had to order other things for our meals. All our meals were well prepared and yummy. The cocktails were ok. I was a little disappointed in them, but they do have a good variety of options. Their decor is a little bizarre with antique doll art. It's a little creepy and apparently done by some local artist. I can't say it added much to the place, but it was a conversation piece as we sat and looked at the things around us. I didn't feel like it matched the name or vibe. Overall a solid experience and I'd go back for the good food! More...

I must say Lulu's is one of my favorite brunch places in the Richmond area. A few friends recommended this restaurant to me and I have been coming back whenever I am in the area. It is tucked off in a busy part of the Shockoe Bottom area so parking can be challenging. There is construction going on right now but don't let it discourage you because the restaurant is open for business. If you can call ahead and make reservations do so because you might be waiting a while for a seat. I like to sit at the bar because the bartenders are amazing and fun to chat with especially the female one I can't think of her name right now sorry lol. But whenever I drop in I always get the atlantic omelet and one to go because it is that good. I also get me a couple of mimosas as well to wash down the yummy food I will continue to keep coming back and pass the word around for others to stop by. More...

What a treat! We ordered the Brussels sprouts and cauliflower appetizer, and it was amazing! Such a great surprise for all of us. Next, I shared the seafood risotto, and the portion seemed a little light to our waitress so she got us a bit more. I can't speak highly enough about the service and flavors at Lulu's. Yum! My son ordered the duck breast, and he was so impressed, I tried duck for the first time in my life. His girlfriend had the crab cake which was also great; not Maryland class, but pretty good. To drink, I had the passion fruit cider which was a miss, but the Chardonnay was great. Everything was so tasty we opted for dessert and had the red velvet waffle and chocolate cake with raspberries. On a recent trip to Richmond I was able to grab a seat at this delicious restaurant on a Sunday morning. At first glance it seemed a little sketchy because you have to walk next to a construction zone & it seemed as though most of the restaurants/shops were closed but I'm glad I braved creepiness because Lulu's did not disappoint. I didn't realize that you needed a reservation for a table, but luckily there was available open seating at the bar. Daria and Trey took care of me and made sure that my food and drinks came out quick and ahhhhhmazing! The cost was reasonable for both my Brazilian Mimosa and my French Toast breakfast. The vibe in the restaurant reminded me of the great eateries back home in San Diego so it was a really great experience. I will definitely be returning when I visit Richmond again. More...

I've lived within walking distance of LuLu's for over two years now and have never eaten there until some friends visited and suggested it. We went for Saturday brunch and were told reservations were needed, but they would try to squeeze us in, which they did. We ordered two specialty Bloody Marys and a specialty Mimosa, all of the above were delicious. If you're brunching, you must order one of their many cocktail options. Our entrees were the Huevos Rancheros, Chicken Biscuit and Shrimp and Grits. We all shared and couldn't pick a favorite. Staff was friendly and very knowledgable. LuLu's food is always amazing! If it were just the food I was taking into account then this place would be a 5 star easily. I've been here a few times and really haven't had a problem with staff or servers but today was different. We had a reservation for 11am which we made on time and were sat. From the beginning, our waitress was really slow coming over to us for drinks. Once she finally did we went ahead and ordered food too. Food came out and it was great, she checked on us like once after having our food for a good 10-15 minutes. Towards the end of the meal I just needed a box and the checks. Around 12:15 the host comes up to us and says she doesn't want to rush us but they need our table for a reservation which I found to be a little rude, but okay. We kindly told her that our waitress hadn't been back over so I could ask for a box and the checks. Another 20 minutes goes by and the host is constantly popping her head around the corner to see if we'd left yet which made it really uncomfortable for us. I understand being busy, but we didn't appreciate the hosts giving us ugly looks for continuing to sit there when it wasn't our fault we were. More...

Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed! I strongly suggest making a reservation or you could be waiting over an hour to get a seat. They do have a bar there, that is very busy as well, but if you let them know you want to sit at the bar they will look out for you. We sat at the bar, as we didn't have reservations and didn't want to wait almost 2 hours to dine in.The food was amazing. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict, although the crab cake was slightly small, it was full of so much flavor. The egg was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was perfect. Although the bar was busy the bartender was full of life. My friend enjoyed the lobster biscuit. That biscuit was perfect! There wasn't lobster in the actual biscuit but was on top, then was topped with eggs and hollandaise. A decent portion and a decent lump of lobster meat. Came out hot and ready to eat!Restuarant is right off the farmers market. There are windows looking right out to the market. Open restaurant concept so even when its crowded doesn't seem like it. Party of 2 at 11:30 on a Saturday afternoon, 30 - 45 minutes wait.  Yikes!  Luckily, we found 2 seats at the bar.  It was indeed packed and looking around it didn't look like anyone was leaving anytime soon.  The moment we sat down, the bartender asked what we're drinking.  The special was a Lavender Mimosa.  My friend went with that.  I went with the tropical Mimosa (Mimosa with rum).  First of all, their mimosas are served in a regular soft drink/soda glass just to give you an idea of how much champagne you'll be consuming in one drink.  I'm all here for it, no complaints here. I glanced over a few dishes of those around me and it all looked so good.  I noticed a few patrons with the French toast.  I'm a French toast girl myself but didn't want the bread this time so I decided to order the Atlantic Omelet. I could be wrong with the name but it is an omelet stuffed with crab meat, shrimp, onions and Swiss cheese.  It's everything a seafood lover would want in a seafood omelet. House potatoes accompanied the omelet.  I was in absolute heaven!  It was delicious. My friend ordered the Red Velvet Waffle with Chicken with scrambled eggs.  I believe sausage gravy came with it, on top of the chicken maybe, but my friend asked for her gravy on the side.  We both thought the waffle was only ok and we've both had better elsewhere.  The chicken was okay (fried chicken breast), not the juiciest so I wouldn't recommend that dish.  The side of sausage gravy was really good.  She kinda of picked over hers but ate/shared mine.  We ordered one more round of Mimosas and called in a brunch - not a day.  They were strong.  We needed to go home and re-charge. I scored this as a 4 based on food/drinks alone. If I were to include the other things I list below it would have been a 3, maybe even a 2....We made a reservation to meet friends for brunch - a couple of things you should know... Be sure to make a reservation AND make sure you are on time and your entire party shows up. They won't seat you until they are all there and only give you 10 minutes beyond the reservation time before they give away your table.Tables are a bit on top of each other, we had a 6-top table with a chair shoved up to it for our 7th person. The gal at the end of the table was literally touching the table behind her, it was almost like she was dining with them. It was loud, they've shoved as many tables and chairs as they can fit into the place and have very little set up for sound-dampening. There were only 7 of us and I really could only talk to the 4 people on my side of the table.Food - I ordered Steak Benny, the filet mignon was cooked PERFECTLY the egg was poached perfectly. This dish was fantastic. I had a Tropical Mimosa (yum) and a Pomegranate Mule that was super terrific. Everyone ordered something different and was pleased with their food choice. The food was truly amazing and the drink options were plentiful. They do a terrific business even though the street was closed while they re-do the Farmer's Market. While everyone seemed to love the food and drinks, I'm not sure that this is on my 'must visit every time I'm in town' list. It truly is noisy and I would have been VERY uncomfortable if I was that last chair at the end of the table. Seriously, she was so close to the table behind her that I would have been considered my hair was hanging on their table. More...

Came here with a friend who lives close by on a Wednesday evening--we both had never been before but I saw that it was much loved in a few different places, and while I was aware that their specialty is more in the brunch arena, I peaked at the dinner menu very quickly online & in the wise words of Hillary Duff said "why not?" With that being said we were the ONLY two people eating in the restaurant, for the entire duration of the meal. It was kinda weird, but I guess not really the fault of the restaurant, right? Either way we were hungry and there, so we each got a glass of wine (only $5, on happy hour-- always a wine in my book) and then decided just to share several starters in Lieu of entrees. We tried the brussel sprouts, mussels, & biscuit appetizer. (We were hoping to try the bisque, but somehow, they were out). A quick breakdown:Mussels were just meh. Served off shell & kinda ramen style but lacking in flavor. Wouldn't order again. I really liked the brussel sprouts which were so fried they were almost like chips & served with a yummy aioli. My friend, however, likes her veggies a little less crispy, so maybe not a hit for everyone at the table. Lastly, THEM BISCUITS THO. They were fluffy & buttery & came with a cream cheese based pimento spread that I'm still dreaming about. TL;DR -- kinda a weird experience, but the vibes, staff, & food were overall pretty good. Definitely gotta stop back for brunch. More...

I do not know HOW we have overlooked this place for so long!! Literally everything that touched my mouth over the weekend here was nothing short of Heavenly *insert praise dance*!! We all ordered different meals and shared taste test of everything. My only gripe was that they didn't offer any turkey meat options (I mean it's 2018 in rva. These new age hipsters are NOT eating pork lol) but even without that option I literally devoured everything else. We placed same day reservations that morning and were seated close to that time. As an out of towner, I was extremely skeptical looking for this place somewhere on a road that's closed down for construction with only the sidewalk open. I'm from San Diego and settings such as these with the layout of the area seem pretty sketchy. I came here on a Saturday morning and once I found the place, the ambiance blew me away. There was music in the background and tons of people having a good time. I ended up sitting at the bar. As a seafood and coffee lover, I ordered the Atlantic Omelette and Irish Coffee. The Atlantic Omelette was amazing. It contained lobster, crabmeat, bacon, white cheddar & hollandaise, served with house potatoes. I was extremely surprised as to how good the lobster and crab meat were. I could usually tell if the meat is fake, but I'm pretty sure this time around, real meat was used. All the ingredients seem to blend well together which made for an excellent omelette. Irish coffee was pretty standard. It contains Jameson Irish Whiskey, Baileys Irish Cream, coffee & topped with whipped cream. I wanted a drink and I didn't have my morning coffee yet, which made me choose the Irish coffee. The bartender was extremely cheerful and pleasant. She refilled my water whenever it was out. There was a point where she had asked me to open a wine bottle. I proceeded to open it for her and minutes later, she gives me a breakfast shot. On the house! Pretty neat if you ask me.All in all, I think I will be visiting this place again. The overall vibe is something that I look for in a place to sit down in. This place most certainly exceeds my expectations. More...

First and foremost: Book a reservation, especially for weekend brunch. I visited with my mom on a whim earlier this month and we got lucky. They were able to fit us in for a 2:15 pm slot, which translated to about a 45-minute wait. My fault for not checking in advance.Bar seats are first come, first serve, but I didn't see a single person budge the entire time we were there so don't count on that as a backup. The hostess was super friendly and kept us in the loop with our seating status. We were seated at a table right around the time she said.I ordered their peach mimosa, which came in a pint glass filled with ice and was quite tasty and fruit forward. Their whole brunch drinks menu looked awesome and I would definitely branch out on future visits. For my meal, I chose the chicken and biscuits (which is apparently a top seller). My mom teetered between a few options, but then the server led her to the chicken and biscuits too, which I knew would be too much food for her (and it was). And in typical fashion for my mom, she requested the gravy and honey on the side.Unfortunately, my dish came out looking just like hers. When it did, I told the server I didn't request nor want any modifications. Her response was to tell me to simply lift the chicken, pour the gravy, put the chicken back, and pour the honey on the chicken. Her tone and comment seriously rubbed me the wrong way. All she had to do was apologize, take the food back, and have the kitchen do that. Please don't punt that to me; I came to a restaurant to avoid food prep.Once I did set up the dish that way, I noticed it was low on gravy. She took so long to come back that I had to hail down another server to get some extra. At that point, I stopped interacting with her and let my mom do the speaking.I enjoyed my food once I modified it back to normal and appreciate that they fit us in without a reservation, but I might not race back just yet based on the service. Don't let the current construction on 17th street stop you, this gem is well worth it. The service is incredibly fast, atmosphere is cool, and the brunch was spectacular. This is the best brunch in RVA. 80% of the time I want brunch, I come here. The other 20% of the time I decide to try somewhere else and generally regret it. Some of my favorites are: chicken & biscuits, red velvet waffles, biscuits & gravy... Coffee is great too  can't forgot the really hot (girl) bartender either More...

Brunch here is unreal. Bloody Marys to start, followed by a bloody Maria is the right combination. Pair that with the huevos rancheros and a side dish of their Red Velvet Waffles (pro tip: get this for the table and split it) and you're good to go. The huevos are phenomenal, the ambiance is great to start your day drinking, I mean brunching, and the staff is hella friendly. Come early as the line builds up, and if you make a res they won't seat you until everyone is there!Pros:DrinksHuevos rancherosRed velvet wafflesAmbiancePriceCons:The wait can get long if you don't make a res. One of the best brunch spots in RVA! The chicken and waffles was...... A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! My wife ordered a mimosa and it was too big for her to finish so I finished it for her. The portions are out of control, which is a good thing! The french toast my wife had was also out of this world. The servers are quick and are on top of everything. We didn't have to ask for refills on our water or anything. We are definitely coming back to have brunch again! More...

Yummy food...shall I say more? Ok, fine! This place never fails to deliver, whether it's brunch or dinner. The food always delivers savory, bold flavors with portions that don't send you making a pit stop on the way home. Cocktails are tasty as well, but aren't as crafty as some other places around town. For a place that is usually packed, the service is generally spot on....I've actually had the same waitress like 3 times straight. Go here and eat the food, you won't be disappointed! More...

Richmond definitely has the best brunch restaurants collectively. Lulu's is a great contributor towards this. I really enjoyed my crab, asparagus and goat cheese omelette. The flavors were well-balanced. It was a nice light entree that didn't leave me with the typical full greasy breakfast feeling. I forgot what my husband got, but he seemed to enjoy it. There wasn't a lot of talking. Just a lot of mmm-ing. More...

Stumbled across this little place for brunch and it was completely packed but I can see why as the food was absolutely amazing! The staff moved around like a well oiled machine banging out generous sized craft Bloody Mary's and Mimosas, and expertly floating orders through crowds of customers. We ordered the Chicken and Red Velvet Waffles and the crab eggs Benedict; they were presented like works of art, much like the restaurant's eclectic decor. Highly recommend checking this place out; make reservations in advance to score a table during brunch hours otherwise, bring a buddy to keep you occupied while you wait for a bar seat. It was my first time to Lulu's this past Sunday. Definitely recommend making a reservation. We did not and got incredibly lucky with two bar stools around 11:45am. It's a very rowdy atmosphere. Definitely not the cute place you go to have a deep talk or bring the parents. But it is an experience! Lots of cool people working and eating. I had the burrito special with pork shoulder and chorizo. I ate every bit. It was the best breakfast burrito I have ever had. The bacon Bloody Mary was also excellent. The only points I would make are that the potatoes could have been crispier, they seem to need more silverware because they were running out, and the bartender forgot to give me my coffee and I didn't even bother reminding her because she seemed too busy to attend to us. Regardless, it was a great experience with fantastic food. I will definitely be back. More...

My friend and I sat at the bar, which is my preferred seating, inside of a very packed Sunday brunch. The restaurant is small, cozy and friendly. The bartender was quick to fix our Bloody Mary needs and although it was super busy, she never seemed too overwhelmed to top of our waters or check in on our progress.YOU MUST GET THE BISCUITS. I tried the Shrimp and Grits with an added biscuit, and my socks were knocked completely off. So tasty! I am not the only one who raved about the biscuits that day. High praises came from all around! LuLu's was recommended to us by it's sister restaurant Millie's because we wanted a little more "traditional" brunch.  We will be going back to Millie's soon because everything looks good, but just not what we wanted for that day. Saturday brunch was very good and was surprised at how large and open LuLu's is. Now while it was crowed and loud everyone seemed to be happy and we didn't have to wait long to be seated. Our server was very helpful and gave some good suggestions on what was popular on the menu. I had the Frittata Chorizo with home fries and my wife had the Chicken and Biscuits with eggs. Everything was delicious, well seasoned and presentation was amazing as well. We are already thinking about what to eat on our next visit and I may also get a drink as well. Not your ordinary "eggs and bacon" spot; they certainly have eggs and bacon but prepare to have Yummy done differently. The Atlantic omelette (added shrimp) was fluffy and stuffed with crab, lobster, and cheese. The French toast was yummy and the Chorizo Frittata was spicy right for me. I can see why there's a long waiting list for LuLu's!  Despite the construction surroundings this downtown eatery, it was packed!! Thanks goodness we made reservations on this Saturday at noon, because we would have had a long wait otherwise.  Save yourself some time and MAKE RESERVATIONS!  It's worth it!There's a cool boho industrial vibe to this trendy spot.  It's loud!  It's a little manic.  It's exciting! You're sitting awfully close to your neighboring diners.  But, for some reason, you don't mind so much.  It kinda adds to the feel of the place.  Or maybe it's the Bloody Marys and Mimosas!  The host at the front door told us it's always like this on Saturday at noonish and on Sundays.  FYI, we left around 1:30ish and the rush had thinned, so if you don't like crowds, go a little later. Now for the good stuff!  The wait staff is friendly, efficient and also are pretty cool!  The food was pretty much Amazing!  I had the Biscuit Bennie and it was delish!  Perfectly poached eggs and served on a biscuit rather than an English muffin.  It came with grilled asparagus and fries potatoes which which seasoned well and appetizing!  My husband had the corned beef hash, which he said was incredible, big chunks of shredded beef-not that thin stuff you normally think of... anyway, try it!  Another table mate ordered huevos rancheros which he praised highly! So the food is the star here and why this place is getting raves!!Reserve your table, ignore  the parking sitch, walk a couple blocks, and indulge in this Southern style cuisine!! More...

Came to LuLu's on our way through Richmond's. I had the chicken a biscuts which were awesome. Biscuts, gravy, home fries, and eggs were excellent. My only criticism would be that the chicken was only slightly overdone but the rest of the meal easily made up for it. Service was excellent. Weekends are for brunch, and that means weekends are for LuLu's because LuLu's is the ultimate RVA brunch location. Fun atmosphere, delicious food, and brunch beverages flowing at an affordable price is what you'll find at here. It only took me 8+ years to finally check it out, but it was well worth the wait and has quickly become a go-to spot, especially for a larger-ish groups. Bonus tip ...they take reservations! Considering it's the little (or big?) sister of Richmond's well-known Millie's, anything you order here will be delish, but if you are having trouble ordering, my personal favorite is the breakfast BLT. Easily the best brunch spot in Richmond. I judge a brunch spot by the quality of their Eggs Benedict and Lulu's in on point! They're also very consistent with the quality of their food and service. I have tried several items on their brunch menu over the last year and I have yet to be disappointed. The eggs Benedict and red velvet chicken and waffles remain favorites. Their drinks are standard affair, the wait can be as much as an hour without a reservation (just get a reservation), and parking downtown sucks, but the food is definitely worth the wait. I have taken all kinds of people here, from my no-frills food style boyfriend, to a wealthy out-of-town aunt, to a group of hipster type friends, and every one of them loved the food. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't because of the wait time and noise level. But on what matters most, the food, Lulu's is a WIN. More...

My husband and I came here for the first time last week to try it with our other couple friends. Parking can be quite crazy downtown, so be sure to know how to parallel park...or have the driver be a pro at parallel parking, haha.  Our friend got there before us and told us that the wait was going to be 40 mins and that he put his name on the list.  Right when we were deciding on venturing out somewhere else downtown, the buzzer went off and we were next to be seated.....(can I admit how freaking awesome that was?!?!)  We got seated quickly and the drink menu.  I decided on the Brazilian mimosa and my husband got the Bacon Bloody Mary.  Wow, the brunch drinks alone were delicious.  My mimosa def snuck up on me and gave me the buzz that I was not expecting - haha.  The bacon bloody Mary was a beautiful display and probably one of the best bloody Mary I have tasted in RVA.  Our server was nice, friendly, and made sure that the ladies got heir orders in before the guys - haha. For our entree, I decided to give their signature chicken and red velvet waffles a try, and my husband got their chicken & biscuit.  Wow - to the presentation and the taste of the two dishes.  I was at first nervous to try the chicken and red velvet waffle, but with my mimosa buzz - I was totally ready. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was both crispy and juicy.  The taste of it with the red velvet waffle was intriguing and delicious.  Drizzle some syrup on it and it was phenomenal.  The entree did come with small dish of sausage gravy, two eggs, and some potatoes, which were also tasty - I know that my review sounds pretty dramatic and crazy but it was honestly that good, haha.  My husband entree of the chicken and biscuit was really delicious as well.  The biscuit from Lulu's is probably the best tasting biscuit I've ever had around RVA.  Everything here was overall amazing in my books.  We will be coming back here again! I would give LuLu's a 4.5/5 for our first visit today. We made a reservation for two at noon and were seated promptly. We expected a swanky, Southern brunch atmosphere from what we had read brieflyonline, but were pleasantly surprised to find that it was much more hip and eclectic. The restaurant was packed for brunch and very loud, but our table did not feel crowded and we were greeted almost immediately with glasses of water from our waitress Olta. Even though it was busy, she was very attentive for our entire meal. We started with delicious peach and tropical mimosas that came in surprisingly big glasses. I intended to order the biscuit and gravy, but the waitress talked me into the chicken and biscuit and it was amazing!!! Though some of the flavors were a little overpowering (namely the saltiness of the chicken and sweetness of the honey-saturated biscuits), I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and was glad I took her suggestion. Next time, I'll be sure to try the red velvet waffles many of our neighbors had. Overall, this was a really enjoyable first experience and I would totally go back! More...

Breakfast is always flavorful and with large portions and there are many menu selections -- chicken and waffles---omelets!! Dinner was okay. Not nearly as many people as during brunch time. There aren't as many dinner options as compared to breakfast. While the food was very flavorful, the portion sizes were small especially for the price we paid. The service was great! My brother was recently visiting from out of town. After our adventures on Saturday night we were thinking about where we could have brunch the next morning to fuel us up for our next set of adventures. The spot we landed on was Lulu's. A go-to in Richmond for brunch. The hype did not disappoint. We got to Lulus a little after 9. There was a decent size crowd, but the restaurant was not full. It had a comfy, but hip vibe. The service was prompt. I had my liquid necessities of black coffee, water and mimosa almost immediately. After some thought, my brother decided to go with the eggs Benedict and I went with the omelet. The food was not over done, or over the top. The food delivered exactly as it stated on the menu, which I can appreciate. My plate was not overwhelmed with breakfast potatoes, and my omelet was not watery or stuffed to the point of it being unappealing. The food was fresh and exactly what we needed for the day.Half way through eating I finally decided to take a look around the restaurant again, and it was packed! There was a definite wait, but at no point did we feel rush. I will be back to indulge in the Red Velvet Waffles. More...

My roommate (Adam) and I just moved to the area over the weekend....I decided to use YELP to do some research on breakfast spots that are close by and we chose to give Lulu's a shot, making it our first real breakfast/brunch stop in our new city....apparently Lulu's is the place to be for Sunday brunch because the place was packed and there was a wait list starting just as we walked inside. Luckily, it was a short wait as we grabbed a pair of Lulu's signature Chesapeake Bloody Mary's and snagged two seats at the bar with the lovely Daria serving us (along with everyone else at the front of the house)....The brunch menu is fantastic! Just enough going on to make things interesting but not too much that they can't make everything to the highest standard. Adam ordered the French Toast entreé....it had fresh strawberries and a cinnamon crème fraîche, and came with sides of bacon and seasoned house potatoes. A whole sweet and savory thing going on....it was quite delicious. I opted for the Chorizo Frittata....I pictured a portioned chunk or slice of frittata coming to me along side my house potatoes and that would be it....boy, was I wrong!!....what was presented to me was my own personal pan of fluffy egg, chorizo, peppers, and cheese topped with house made guacamole as big as the plate as they served it to me on (check the pics!)!!Everything from the food and drinks, to the atmosphere and new faces we got to meet was absolutely amazing! Needless to say (but I will say it) we will be back often to Lulu's! Thank you for making our first brunch in RVA such a wonderful treat! More...

Went to Lulus for he first one for Sunday brunch with two of my best girlfriends! It was really crowded when we came in so I was glad I made a reservation for us the day before. When we came in, our table wasn't ready and we were seated fifteen minutes later to a table meant for two people. We asked our waitress if there was anywhere else we could sit and she accommodated us to a lovely booth in the back area. Our food was just amazing. I got the Burgos rancheros and my two girlfriends got the croissant sandwich. I asked for my egg well done, but it was still runny. Nevertheless, we loved our service and food and we're definitely coming back to try out the red velvet waffles!! :) Highly recommend going and make sure you make a reservation ahead of time on OpenTable! We had gone there for dinner and were told that they are best known for their brunch, so we went for Easter brunch. I had the Atlantic omelet which was amazing! The potatoes were good, but needed to be cooked a little longer in my opinion. My husband had the red velvet chicken and waffles. He loved the waffle but said the chicken was under seasoned. There were more things on the menu that I want to try and will definitely go back. More...

Made reservations at Lulu's at 2:45 on a Sunday and when we got there there were no tables for us, however the hostess and manager went out of their way to make sure we would get in in time for brunch since we had a reservation.  Had to make the reservation pretty late due to my parents getting into town later but I recommend getting there before 2:30pm.  The kitchen had run out of potatoes which was kind of a bummer, I think we were all looking forward to some breakfast potatoes but the wait staff and manager let us know that we could substitute with basically anything we wanted. If you're a bloody Mary fan definitely get the Chesapeake Bloody!  It was way more flavorful than the jalapeño, so skip that and get the Chesapeake, it won't disappoint.  Three of us ordered the fried chicken and red velvet waffles with a biscuit instead of the potatoes, it also came with gravy and scrabbled eggs.  Everything was amazing, couldn't recommend it more, the chicken was literally perfect, I could've eaten just the chicken.  BUT the waffles were so good too, perfect combination.  If you happen to run into the issue of no potatoes definitely get a biscuit, it was definitely home made and just so perfect with the gravy.  I can't wait to come back (at an earlier time) and eat here again!  Highly recommend Lulu's for brunch More...

Me and my friends waited 30 minutes for a table but that is only a testament to how good the food was. I ordered the  chicken and red velvet waffle. It came with a side of eggs and house potato's. The portions were huge and I left full and satisfied. Our server was Donna. She was amazing. She gave us great suggestions on food and beverages, which was helpful because everything looked so good. We will definitely be coming back in the near future. More...

The red velvet chicken and waffles was good. Ours was served with maple pecan cream cheese and syrup. The fried chicken was seasoned very well but a little dry. I'll give it another chance. The potatoes were on point. We didn't have to wait long at all and I like that you can see the chefs cooking the food. The grills are out in the open and nice atmosphere. Diverse crowd. We'll be back Lu Lu's! More...

I tell you what. I know brunch. And I know restaurant decorum. This place was on point with everything. Our waitress was great! It was packed and I did not feel like she either abandoned us or was trying to get us out of there so that she could rotate the table. We had drinks on drinks on drinks. And they did not disappoint! I had the special the crabby benny. Oh my good foodness. This is probably one of the best brunch dishes I've ever had. So tasty and not over seasoned or some ridiculous portion I felt I had to conquer. I was also able to taste the red velvet waffle. Another yum! Overall, Lulus might be my favorite spot to go to for brunch now. GASP! More...

The food and the atmosphere was amazing! The space is small and tight but still comfortable. I had the shrimp and grits with a scrambled egg instead of the poached egg. I've been wanting to try to the Red Velvet Waffles at LuLu's for a long time & they lived up to expectations! My girlfriends and I shared an order and loves the special accompanying butter and cream cheese. The glaze drizzled on top makes traditional syrup unnecessary.Being the day after St Patrick's day, we order Irish Coffees. The whip cream was especially delicious and almost the consistency of ice cream! I had the Corned Beef Hash which came drizzled in a flavorful hollandaise sauce.  My friend loved her special of a mushroom asparagus while, although the crust was more pastry like than pie like. I tried my friends lobster omelette which had a nice texture, but I could have done with some more flavor. There were so many amazing looking items on the menu, I will definitely be returning to LuLu's for brunch! H More...

Went here this past Sunday for Brunch! I highly recommend making reservations because it was super packed when I went in around 10am. My roommate and I luckily got a spot at the bar after waiting about 5 minutes. This place is also super cute inside and play great music! Food: I ordered the shrimp and grits and a bacon Bloody Mary. My bacon Bloody Mary came with 2 big, crispy pieces of bacon, celery, olives and a slice of lime. It was really good!! My shrimp and grits was one of the most different shrimp and grits I've ever had in Richmond. It came with 2 poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, asparagus and a tomato based sauce on top of the grits. The eggs and asparagus were really good and shrimp cooked perfectly!! The tomatoe-y sauce, I was NOT a big fan of. I feel like it took away from the shrimp and grits and made it more watery. I'd give the shrimp & grits 3 stars. Dessert: Red Velvet waffle! This is literally the yummiest sweet dish I've ever had!! It came with whipped cream and a strawberry sauce on the plate. You must dip the waffle in everything because it is SO YUMMY!! If you ever come here, you must get the red velvet waffles!! More...

HIP AMBIANCE, DELICIOUS FOOD AND TASTY COCKTAILS!!!We were visiting Richmond and found this interesting place to indulge in Brunch. We had to wait for 40 minutes to get the table but boy it was worth the wait. The place was full and little loud and the music was even louder. The decor was little weird. Our waitress was very hospitable and took our drinks orders very quickly. We ordered Jalapeño Bloody Mary, Bacon Bloody Mary, Tropical Mimosa, moscow mules. I have never seen such a creative cocktail menu for brunch. All the drinks were delicious and beautiful. As for the food, we ordered Chorizo Frittata, Huevos Rancheros, Red Velvet Waffle, hrimp & Stone-Milled Pimento Grits. Everything were presented beautifully and I cannot stress enough how awesome the red velvet waffles were. The pecan cream that accompnied the waffle was very rich and fluffy. The house potatoes that accompnied the other savory dishes were the best I have ever had. This definitely my favorite brunch spot and I would go there again to try all the other dishes on their menu. Came for Valentines Day dinner when they were having a fixed price, 3 course meal. I was able to easily make a reservation online through open table. When we arrived slightly early we were seated right away.Their wine list is very reasonably priced and the pinot noir was great with the meal. For the first course we both got the Blue Crab Bisque with a little buttermilk biscuit and a side of pimento cheese. The bisque was kind of a mix between crab bisque and onion soup. It was delicious. The biscuit came hot and the pimento cheese was rather spicy. I loved the spicy level, it paired perfect with the biscuit and bisque. Second course i got the Shrimp and Scallops over a bed of fettuccine and baby spinach with parmesan, garlic and chives. Came with 2 large scallops perfectly seared and 4 jumbo shrimp also cooked perfect. I enjoyed the dish but the sauce was a little too cloying. Boyfriend got the Grilled Filet of Beef ordered medium rare, arrived medium but he said it was good. The red potatoes were more like hashbrowns.Third course, i got Red Velvet white chocolate cheesecake napoleon. I was pleased that it was not a sugar bomb but the red velvet cake part was kind of dry and hard to eat. Boyfriend got their Caramel Apple Bread Pudding and liked it a lot.5 stars for service, price, and creative food. Would go back. More...

This is my new favorite brunch spot in Richmond, and luckily close to our apartment. We were luckily that there happened to be an open table otherwise we would have had an almost a 2 hour wait.    The food was amazing, though they ran out of two of the three specials, which was disappointing because I was told those were he best two and I really wanted the quiche. We tried two different kinds of mimosas, my husbands was good and he thought mine was ok, but they both were too strong for me. The waitress was also extremely friendly and welcoming. If the food wasn't enough of a reason, she was. Now we have the problem of wanting to try other places, but can't because we doubt they could be better than here. More...

As long as I've lived in Richmond it is crazy to me that I am just now checking this place out. Man was I missing out omg. Definitely my new favorite brunch spot and apparently everyone else's too! Making a reservation is definitely recommended. I loved the atmosphere here everyone had their own style, perfect for all age groups, taste buds, and fellow Yelpers! A close friend of mine and her cousin and I met up for brunch and I am so glad that we agreed on this spot because the food definitely did NOT disappoint, everything was delicious and filling. I ordered a tropical mimosa which was pretty good given the fact that I'm not really a mimosa person, but this definitely changed my opinion. I also order red velvet waffles (came in four slices) with a little powder on top and on the side was syrup, strawberry syrup, whipped cream, and a pecan spread. Their house potatoes were so yummy perfect amount of seasoning and definitely 10/10. I really enjoyed the vibe of this place not only because of the throwback music that was playing while we were there, but because the staff was courteous, friendly, and attentive. I also loved how diverse it was. The parking isn't too bad we came on a Sunday and were able to find parking on East Main Street or surrounding lulu's and the 17th street market. Regardless I must say lulu's earned a five star review because my taste buds were completely satisfied and I got my money's worth for my food! Oh and I will def be coming back and making this my new brunch spot in RVA. More...

Very tasty and popular brunch place. Super busy so definitely make a reservation in advance or show up after 1pm. Our group ordered the chicken and waffles, chicken and biscuits, and huevos rancheros and we all loved our meals. Flavored generously, amazing eggs, menu small but had all the breakfast necessities (unless you're the super healthy type in which case this is not the place for you). Waitstaff were amazing! Water was refilled super quickly despite the busy buzz in this place. Four stars because the price was too high for brunch...not trying to spend $30 for a meal and a brunch cocktail but that happened :/ also the drink was barely half a small glass which was disappointing for its $9 price tag. Easy parking (a lot right across the street free on weekends). Overall, would recommend! More...

Where do I even begin? I stopped by Lulus and was blown away by their food. There was a little bit of a wait so I highly recommend getting reservations ahead of time.Their brunch menu was amazing. We have their red velvet waffles and fried chicken and their eggs Benedict. Both dishes were amazing. Cooked to perfection you really can't go wrong. Our waitress was super sweet and helpful. She always had a smile on and appreciated our horrible jokes. She must've had a great sense of humor because her name was something like princess Elsa. The crowd was a mix of young and old, so food must be really good for the older generation to put up with our hipster ways. Lots of people were saying hi to one another so it's definitely popular amongst groups of friends. The music was bumping as any great brunch spot should. Will be back when im in the area. More...
