This is some of the best tasting food i have ever tasted in my life. Alternative French inspired cuisine. Smaller menu that changes constantly. I've been for both lunch and dinner.Lunch I got a sandwich and was perfect size, price, and taste wise. Literally nothing I could complain about.Dinner I got the duck breast and an order of the Brusle Sprouts, and Beat brushetta. I have never had a bad meal in this place!!! WOW so great!  Lovely place, lovely people, amazing.  We had the chickpea tangine, the endive/spinach salad and the turkey sandwich.  FANTASTIC.

Lula Café was the first restaurant I visited on my first visit to Chicago in April 2018. I still remember the cozy, beautifully neat and detailed interior as though you're visiting your grandma's home, as well as  fantastic food and drink options but I don't know why I uploaded the photos and forgot to follow up with a review. We were preparing for a long day filled with drinking and eating, and breakfast wasn't going to get in the way of it. DRINKS 5/5: My friend ordered an Apres-Midi and I got a Love on Delivery. Both cocktails. I can't find the drink descriptions online anymore as I'm sure the menu has changed but I remember mine as being milky with some hint of banana and mixed with a strong liquor. Definitely a sipping type of drink especially for breakfast, but so delicious and it warmed me up for the cold weekend ahead!BREAKFAST: We shared two items but I couldn't find the name of mine online even back then especially since it was a seasonal item but the ingredients are what intrigued me: grits, eggs, pistachio, pesto, olives and lemon. If you see the picture you can tell it looks like a soup but it was warm and just too tangy for me. The bread on the side was nice to balance out the flavor. COCONUT BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST 5/5: Picture this: banana pastry cream, macaroons and kaffir lime. How could you even pass that up? It was phenomenal. The service was insanely prompt and friendly. Was looking for an interesting place to eat on way back from O’Hara airport. Google maps found it for us. It was a little out of our way, but we’ll worth the trip. 2 stars for the pasta.  A restaurant of this echelon (& pricing), shouldn't used pre-bought pasta.  The sauce was bland too. I've been meaning to try this place in the neighborhood because I've heard so many good things about this place. I came here on a Thursday around 11AM and there was no wait, but most of the seats at the restaurant were full. The staff was nice and pleasant and the food came out pretty quickly. I went with "The Royale" and per website it is, roast beef smorrebrod marinated cucumber, horseradish, dill, smoked egg yolk on house rye. I saw pictures of "The Royale" from months/years ago and it was pretty different from what I was served. I'm guessing they change every season or so? At first glance, I honestly didn't think it was going to be good. Definitely do not judge a book by its cover because HOLY COW that was delicious. I've never had a dish taste like what I had here.
