Six of us celebrated my brother's 50th birthday prior to attending Kinky Boots at The Morris Theatre. The menus had a birthday message printed on the front and our server was amazingly attentive and the food delicious. The cocktails were great and wine selection a perfect accompaniment to our celebration. Our thanks to the entire staff for making this visit memorable. My favorite South Bend eatery. There are always traditional items such as steaks on the menu, but there are also always a choice  that is unusual for the adventursome eater ( venison, ostrich, pheasant)   and the pairings are always interesting.   The Brandy Alexander is amazing for dessert or after a show treat. The bar and the service are very good. Not exceptional. The food was quite good. We perceived a relative paucity of staff. We went on a Friday night. The bartender was pleasant and capable, but running around like crazy, to the detriment of new arrivals and those in need of a refill. The same at the table. Really good and knowledgeable but MIA for prolonged periods of time. Somewhat disappointed at our most recent visit. Went on a Saturday night in a snow storm. Had 7:00 reservations. Valet was quick. Hostess seated us quickly. Wait staff was attentive. Good original cocktail list. We had a crab cake (size of a softball) and shrimp cocktail for apps. The cocktail sauce was slightly spicy with good flavor. Crab cake was solid. I had the antelope and it was wonderful. 3 different members of the family had filets and all were very happy with them. My friend had the salmon and thought it was great. Somewhat disappointed at our most recent visit. We have dined at the LaSalle Grill several times and it has been our favorite restaurant when visiting South Bend. Ordered the filet and was not impressed by the quality. The tenderness of the steak wasn't there. The escargot was subpar as well. Most disappointing was the amateurish service. Our waitress made us feel rushed during the entire meal. She had no clue of the pacing needed at a fine dining experience. Maybe we caught it on an off night. We'll give it another try next time we're in town. It's still a very good restaurant but we may need to adjust our expectations. More...

Last week we stopped in for a couple drinks.  There are a couple floors to the restaurant, but we were in the bar.  Didn't have any food, but it smelled great.  I had two different cocktails and each were incredible.  I might mess this up, but one was a blackberry infused vodka shot made in house.  Best shot I've ever had!  Our bartender Tim (I hope I'm remembering the correct name, it was March 20th) was great at his job.  All the drinks he made were perfect.  He and the other bartender were working at the speed of light, really friendly and attentive.  I will definitely go back.
