Paying a visit to La Pizzeria in Mount Pleasant is like taking a trip to Italy.  The owner is actually from Italy and he personally imports many of the ingredients from his family's farm in Italy. Tip: While this restaurant is hidden away in a strip mall, once you try their food you'll know immediately that their cuisine is Legit.  Their breads, sauces, olive oil and cheeses are both authentic and completely delicious!I've been here several times now, and I still haven't tried anything other than their pizza simply because their pies are incredible!  That's not to say there aren't many other types of entrees on their menu; I look forward to eventually trying everything :-)You too will be hooked on their pizza once you try some; unfortunately, many people in the area have heard about how good the food is here and there's usually a wait in the evenings - even on weekdays!Tip: I'm not quite sure why, but they don't serve tap water here; if you want water your only choice is bottled.Bottom line: Amazing pizzas, welcoming attractive ambiance, and an efficient and friendly staff make this place total worth a little waiting - highly recommended! The host had absolutely no idea what he was doing. I asked how long the wait for our group would be and he said he didn't know. That was the most negative part of our experience - and not a great first impression. That being said, the food was delicious. Highly recommend anything on the specials list and any of the pizzas. La Pizzeria is THE BEST!  Husband and I get a Sicilian pepperoni and mushroom pizza almost every Friday night.  Eddie knows my order before I even ask and is always a delight to see every weekend.  Husband and I are not alone in the La Pizzeria to go order phenomenon.  There are tons of regulars in there picking up their orders every time I'm there.The pizza is just that good.  We've tried a few specialty pies and desserts over the years, but the Sicilian and the service are what keep us coming back again and again.  I still have yet to actually eat a sit down meal in La Pizzeria (it's on my to do list), but the pizza is #1 in Charleston for sure. Excellent pasta and pizza. Unfortunately I can't give them 5 stars because of their use of plastic bottles for both water and soda.  It was explained they don't have the appropriate filter to serve tap water and they don't have room for a fountain drink machine.  This makes zero sense to me. The name is a little misleading...so much more than pizza...authentic Italian food! La Pizzeria brings a taste of Italy to Mount Pleasant. So nice to have a homemade meal rather than a mass produced plate of food. We always enjoy the laidback, casual, unpretentious  atmosphere! So nice not to feel like a "turn and burn" table. Tucked in the corner of a little strip mall in Mt Pleasant was one of the highlights of our trip to Charleston.  Filled with questions about if we might want to move here and what are the people like, we stepped into this little place and were transported back home. We were treated like family, and man can this family cook. Fresh ingredients, pizza crust like it was meant to be made, and I'm willing to bet the pasta is as good as well. Truly an outstanding experience, we felt at complete ease and by the time it was over felt like we were part of their family.  All after one stop.  If you want some quality, Italian food that would make mama proud, you owe yourself a visit. My husband and I discovered the most extraordinary Italian pizzeria tucked away in a corner of Northcutt Plaza in Mount Pleasant off Coleman Blvd. We had been looking for a nice restaurant in which to have a wonderful celebratory birthday meal, but due to enjoying sights around Charleston we found our intended restaurant closed. We looked down the strip and saw La Pizzeria, and it was love at first bite. We met the owner who went out of her way to make sure we were well-cared for. She and her staff were professional et very personable. We were made to feel as though we were simply joining a family meal around the table in Italy-even though our order was takeout. Through our conversations we discovered that all the ingredients they use in food preparation are imported directly from Italy and traditionally made. Although the name is La Pizzeria and the two varieties of pizza we received were the absolute best we have ever eaten. The lasagna was to die for. From the staff to the food, this is a hidden gem in Mt Pleasant.  Eddie and Kristina were phenomenal.  On a very crowded night, my first time there, Eddie remembered my name as we left, not sure anyone has made that kind of impression on me at a restaurant, just ask my wife.  Service (Kristina) was excellent on a very busy night.   The pizza I had might be the best I have had in Mt Pleasant.  Don't miss an opportunity to visit this hidden gem in Mt Pleasant.  Make sure you get there early. We were staying at a nearby hotel.  Checked in late and were looking for a place to grab a decent (not fast food) meal.  Saw the reviews and decided to check it out even though the place was scheduled to close in about an hour.  We walked to the restaurant anticipating having a few beers with our much anticipated pizza.The place was hopping and the atmosphere was lively.  We were greeted by friendly staff.  Our concerns about showing up late were quickly erased.  Long story short our server convinced us to switch our meal selection from pizza to the veal and from beer to their imported Super Tuscan wine.  Half way into our 2nd bottle we had finished our main dish and ordered the tiramisu.  The absolutely best tiramisu I've ever had...period!This place is a gem.  We had planned to eat there again the next evening and were disappointed when we found out they are closed on Sundays.  If we lived nearby we'd be regulars for sure.  If you are visiting Mt Pleasant/Charleston, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of this place.  If you live nearby then you should count your blessing. Well dang I had really been snoozing on this one! I've lived near La Pizzeria for about 5 years and only just now finally made it over. Saturday night we knew we wanted pizza but weren't quite sure exactly where to order from, so we decided to give La Pizzeria a takeout try. Called in an order for garlic knots, an 18" brooklyn bridge (double pepperoni) pizza and tiramisu. They gave me a pickup time of 30/45 minutes - as soon as I pulled up, I knew we'd made the right choice; there was a line out the door! Fortunately, most of my fellow queuers were also there picking up, so it moved quickly. The staff was so friendly, checking in with the line with each new arrival to ensure they were quickly seating anyone who was dining in. I was able to get my pizza in less than 10 minutes of waiting, while the gentleman manning the desk deftly fielded more phone orders and kept the line moving.Back home with the grub, we were quick to dig in. The garlic knots were a decent appetizer - not quite garlicky enough for my liking, but I think that might be a me problem, as I am flavor obsessed ;) The marinara the knots were served with was cold, which the microwave quickly fixed - but I am not sure what the intention was there. The pizza was delicious thin crust goodness, cheesy without being overly greasy and fantastic portion size for the price. The tiramisu had a slight lemon flavor, which I am not sure was intentional or a result of being close by other desserts in the refrigerated case - it was a bit cakey for my taste and would've benefited from a bit more coffee liqueur; but we had no trouble finishing every last bite. Already plotting a return trip to ensure we try the Sicilian thick crust pizza option, some of these epic sounding pasta bowls, as well as a dine-in experience. Che bella! More...

The best pizza in all of Charleston! Yes, I have said it. We have been trying to get into La Pizzeria for several weekends, but when we arrive there is always a line at the door. So finally we scored one Friday night by arriving at 5:30. While waiting for just a few minutes for a table, the first thing I noticed was how friendly the host was. Plus he knew so many of his customers by their name it was impressive. When we were seated we were also greeted by Tim and given just as good service all night. We came for pizza, they delivered. We go traditional and just order a mushroom & pepperoni. The pizza was served hot out of the oven, with the food runner serving the first slice. The crust was thin, crispy and held up well with the toppings. I love tasting both the mushrooms and pepperoni, a lot of times the mushrooms just get lost. But not this time. La Pizzeria has set a new high standard for both pizza and service. We enjoyed other items like 2 different Italian beers, their small side salads, and desserts that were so delicious. Italian comfort food served in this busy Mt P. restaurant.  This small business is run like a fine tuned machine.  The host greeted guests by name.  The service staff is friendly and makes great recommendations, backed up by a food runner and busser that never missed a detail during a weekend dinner service.  Very impressive.  And then there's the pizza.  We chose thin crust Napoletana, served hot and stayed hot.  This is my new standard for this type of pizza.  I suspect it will be hard to beat.  Perfect crust, sauce, and toppings.  We started with fresh salads topped with delicious dressings.  We enjoyed two types of Italian beers and finished with the dreamiest homemade Tiramisu.  We noticed lots of delicious looking entrees being served and look forward to trying other items on the menu. First off, impeccable service. Everyone was so attentive and kind. Not only did our server help us with the table, but the owner as well. She was checking up on us to make sure everything was perfect. And it was!The food portions were not that large, but the taste made up for it. The pasta is homemade which is definitely a plus in my book. The atmosphere was very quaint and it made you feel like you're part of the family. But the desserts. OMG. Insanely amazing.
