Ive known Kait for a few years now through the crossfit community so when I had heard through a mutual friend that they were sending their dog to her for training, it peaked my interest. I have a 5yr old chihuahua that I adopted almost 2 years ago now that came with a boat load of issues due to being abused by his previous owner. So I’m very cautious with boarding him and bringing him around people he doesn’t know too well. I dropped Iggy off for the 4th of July holiday to be boarded and let me just he was super nervous and tried to escape, but I felt very comfortable leaving him there with Kait. I totally trust her knowledge and judgment with my little anxious one. I checked in daily (crazy dog mom) and she reassured me that he was doing just fine, even with all the other dogs and her stepson! I would highly recommend K9 Kaits to anyone who might have a nervous, anxious, aggressive dog, she really knows what shes doing with the training and boarding. I came to Kaitlyn with my stubborn and extremely leash-reactive dog Loki. He was entering his teenager phase and I was riden with anxiety because I felt like I couldn't walk him without fearing that my dog was going to pull me into the ground or in public without fearing that he was going to react to every dog we saw and create a commotion. Kaitlyn has been extremely patient with him and myself and has been SO dedicated to helping us out. Even after he came home from the program, she continued working with us and hasn't stopped trying to figure out creative solutions. She has far exceeded my expectations! Loki, a high-energy, never calm, super social (sometimes too social), and reactive dog, can now sleep in his crate throughout the night without a peep, can relax on his "place" when asked to, can walk beside me nicely, can come when asked to, and can walk by dogs in public without making a scene. It's a continual process and training never ends, but the improvement has been night and day. We went camping this weekend and while I was nervous, Loki did SO amazing. It definitely was a milestone for us. He hardly barked at any of the dogs at the campsite and on our hikes where he passed by an overwhelming number of dogs, he was so well-behaved!! Walked by nicely, no barking, no scene. We couldn't believe it. Since this was so successful, we took him into retail stores and even ate at restaurants (!!!). I never thought this was going to be possible and I have the hugest appreciation for Kaitlyn and her program. More...

When we sent our dog to K9 Kait's Training Academy, she had a few basic skills, such as sit, paw, come, etc., but she would only do them if she felt like it, or if we gave her a treat. She also wanted my cat for lunch! We got Roxi back yesterday, and she is a totally behaved dog! She sits, comes, goes to her "place", no longer jumps on people, no longer jumps up on counters, or digs through the trash can! Most importantly, (to us) she ignores my cat! She doesn't even try to go upstairs (where my cat is hiding for now) She looks every once in a while, but with a simple "NO", she looks away! This is just day 1 back! Kaitlyn is a committed and compassionate dog trainer. Her commitment stems from knowing how incredibly frustrating it can be to love dogs who don’t listen or have behavioral issues. My own dogs are nice dogs but they definitely do what they want, when they want to do it. After leaving k9 kaits , we have the tools and skills to start a new journey with mutual respect. We can go for walks, the cat can come from his basement den without being chased. Most of all I’d like to mention that Kaitlyn is also available all of the time for questions and concerns AFTER the training process. She doesn’t just give your dogs back and leave you on your own . Most importantly , kait has taught us that training a dog always makes them a happier dog, as they are allowed to go more places and do more activities. What do you love most about your job?
I love giving dogs and their owners the freedom to live the life they deserve whether that be through simple avenues like walking politely on a leash or basic household manners, or by more complex things like teaching an aggressive dog to interact peacefully with other dogs or humans.
What inspired you to start your own business?
When I adopted my two dogs, they were complete behavioral messes. Many behaviors were tolerable, but my sweet Luna was so reactive that she turned scary and uncontrollable at the sight of cars or dogs. She could barely exist in our house with the blinds open, walks and outings to public places were completely out of the question. I hired a trainer who subscribes to a philosophy with which I now disagree and the training made things worse. If I wanted to keep my dog, I needed to learn to train her. Now I find extreme joy in helping other people who have debilitating issues with their dogs see the same success.
Why should our clients choose you?
My training methods work, and I’m happy to explain the reasons behind why I use the tools and methods I do. I am a dog lover to my core and my motivation is keeping dogs in their homes and giving them the ability to experience as much of the world as possible. I would never use a method or tool on a client’s dog I wouldn’t (or haven’t already) use on my own dogs. And, for the sake of my clients’ wallets, I hope to never see them again once I have seen the program through!
Basic Obedience Board and Train
This program is intended to teach basic obedience, household manners, and leash manners. This program is not intended for dogs who have more serious behavioral issues. It is two weeks long and includes an extensive go-home session in which I transfer everything your dog learned over to you.
Behavior Rehabilitation Board and Train
This program is for dogs who display more severe behaviors such as aggression, reactivity, fear, or anxiety. The program is three weeks or longer depending on the severity of the behavior and includes a session with the owners at the two week mark, an extensive go-home session, and three follow up sessions.
Private Lessons
Not intended for dogs who display more severe behaviors, these lessons are one hour long. I teach basic obedience, household manners, and leash manners.
