What kind of accounting services do you provide?
We work with small businesses on everything from setting up Accounting software and books, to monthly bookkeeping, payroll and tax return preparation, drafting business plans, IT/network consulting and a variety of other small business needs. I have worked with small businesses with as few as 1-2 employees up to a business where I was previously employed as a Controller with a company of more than 500 employees. I have extensive experience with a variety of legal entities including C-Corporations, S-Corporations, Partnerships, LLC’s, Non-Profits and Trusts.
Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
Many small businesses owners don't realize that a staggering 80 percent of U.S. businesses fail within the first 18 months. Typically, one of the main causes is poor financial management. Accountants do more than tax filing. They can take a comprehensive assessment of your finances and create a forecast through the year to keep your business at a healthy, prosperous state.
What do you love most about your job?
I actually became an Accountant almost by accident. Prior to my accounting career, I worked on and built motorcycles for a living while pursuing a Political Science degree in college (my original goal was to attend law school). During that time managing a motorcycle shop, I became keenly aware very quickly of the difference between having fun at work and how to actually make a business profitable. During that time I worked with many Accountants, including a Controller for a specific company I worked for who was very influential to me. It was his guidance, inspiration and instilling the confidence in me to get an additional degree in accounting. From that point forward, I knew that my passion was creating value in businesses and teaching people how to create sound business structures, plans and operations.
What inspired you to start your own business?
As a serial business entrepreneur I am always interested in new businesses and what makes them thrive. My gratification comes from seeing a business grow and thrive as a result of sound and logical business practices that go beyond the numbers. As a real estate investor and business owner, I am personally aware of what it takes to run a successful operation and the inherent financing, accounting and unique tax situations a business can present. We have worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from coffee shops to real estate investors to cattle ranchers to jewelers. With a background in public accounting we have come to appreciate the wide variety of business experiences many clients bring to us and the unique challenges they all face on a daily basis.
