I reached out to Isotonex based off the reviews on yelp and met with Ray. We had a one on one session and he walked me through the program. I have done quite a few things in past such as MMA, cross fit, OTF and so on and all those required daily frequent workout on my side to keep my body lean. So when Ray first told me we would meet only twice a week, I was skeptical about the progress that we would make. But Ray kept telling me it's quality over quantity. I decided to give it a shot and register for 10 sessions. I was getting into being active after quite a few months off, but Ray reads your body way better than you, yourself know your body and he eased me into the program. Every session I was excited about the workout and I could see the difference in my strength, cardio and endurance . Ray stays laser focused with his clients and is extremely professional and very easy to work with. He is able to correct minute changes in form which once you implement them, you actually feel the difference. He also has a very good way of communicating those pieces that is easy to understand and remember. Ok all that being side, ultimately what matters are results, right? I finished 20 sessions with Ray last week. At the beginning I was close to 183 lbs - 23% body fat. After 20 sessions I dropped to 160 lbs - 18.9% bf.Lost 20 plus lbs, in a very healthy manner. It had been a few years since I did any kind of strength training. On the recommendation of a friend I went to see Ray. Whether you're a novice or more advanced, I recommend him highly. He is a very knowledgeable and the workouts are never boring as he changes them up. He is very patient and encouraging and builds you up (mentally & physically). I had a great experience training with Ray for about 2 1/2 years (and would still be training with him had my company not moved out of Campbell.  He does does an excellent job of varying the workouts to keep things from getting boring, increasing/decreasing the intensity of the activities depending on your skill set and any physical limitations you may have.  I highly recommend Ray. Ray is legit. I'm a trainer and I won't give recommendations to anyone unless they walk the walk and are worth their salt. I started seeing Ray shortly after the birth of my daughter (She'll be two in July/2016). I was also seeing another trainer during the week when I first started seeing Ray because he wasn't able to take me on during the week; only on Saturdays. I needed to get in shape...QUICK since I had a bachelorette party to attend in VEGAS. Long story short, Ray got me in shape for for that party and shortly after, he had a weekday slot that opened up so I started seeing him at 5:30AM! I don't wake up that early for ANYONE! He's an awesome trainer...very professional...knows what he's talking about/doing...he's motivational...BUT not pushy. LOL :) I've definitely gained MUSCLE (babies are heavy!), strength and lost a good amount of body fat. More...

Fantastic.I've had 14 one hour sessions with Ray, and I've seen results that are nothing short of phenomenal.  I've lost at least 6 pounds, and I feel STRONG.  I can pick up my 35 lb toddler with ease now.  My body composition has changed significantly, as well.I had a bit of an epiphany this past weekend.  I went shopping for the first time in over a year, and as I stood in the dressing room, looking at myself in the 3-way mirror, I realized that it was the first time in a very long time that I hadn't looked in a 3-way mirror and hated my reflection.  Ray is a very big part of that.Because of the cost, personal training isn't something that I will be able to do forever.  I decided to try personal training to give my pregnancy weight loss another kick-start, and I'd have to say that I got everything I wanted and more out of my sessions.Thanks Ray!! Ray Vargas...let's just say if there was a fan club...I'd be president. I've never dreamed of having a personal trainer but I was in a slump and if I needed to pay someone to get me through it, then so be it. Ray came highly recommended from a friend who had great success and was always talking about how amazing he was. I committed to a 8 weeks, 2 times a week for an hour each. By commitment I mean, physically, emotionally and financially. After the first session...sore!! Second session...even more sore! It got better but eventually I craved to get that achy feeling. He taught me how to push myself, I did things I never thought I could. Do I love him? Yes! Did I hate him 2 times a week? Yes! But he motivated me and showed me how to believe in myself. I signed up for another 8 week program with him...am I crazy?! My last day with Ray was bitter sweet. As you can see, I am a Ray-Fan. I love seeing all of his success. I tell everyone about him. Ray is one of the most amazing trainers, professionals, and persons I've ever met. I have been training with Ray for a few years now and I have learned so much from him. He thoroughly understands how the human body works, what kind of exercises will be the most effective for your needs, and most importantly (for me) makes exercise fun. Before I started training with Ray, all I knew about exercise is that 1) it scared me and 2) I didn't like it. But he makes the workouts both enjoyable and challenging at the same time. I've accomplished so much in my time with him. I feel my body is so much stronger and capable of doing exercises that would have had me scared before. I never thought I could be able to do half the things we do now. Before I trained with Ray, I didn't have the stamina to run one mile without stopping to gasp for air. Last year alone, I ran 6 races with two of them being 10K runs with ease! What sets Ray apart from other trainers is his constant care and motivation. He isn't a generic trainer who does a workout with you for an hour and corrects your form. He isn't’ a drill sergeant, either. He’s someone who motivates and encourages you throughout your entire workout, teaches you different things about your body, listens to your needs, and is always the voice in your ear telling you keep pushing forward. I'm so glad I decided to jump start my healthy lifestyle with Ray. I went from being sedentary to learning to love weight training, running, hiking, and just being active. I saw results right away, lost about 20 lbs. in 6 months, and have kept it off with his meal and training guidance. What I like most about Ray's approach is that he inspires a lifestyle change. Ray Vargas is hands down the best trainer around. Period. Ever. For reference, I consider myself to be generally active and fit. I've had other personal trainers in the past and have belonged to various gyms, including cross fit gyms. That being said, I have a pretty good basis on different types of workouts and different types of training. Ray's workouts still beat the rest, by far. Ray's training is personalized. He tailors the workout to your goals and your needs. Most importantly, he's always there to guide you and ensure that you have good form. I've had some injuries in the past (from over use and most likely poor form from other gyms that pushed PR's over form). With Ray, I always feel safe in my workouts and that I am performing them correctly thus maximizing my results. His attentive care and continual encouragement has yet to fail me. With him, I've been able to safely redefine my so called limits, become stronger, and live a healthier life style. Ray is one of my absolute favorite people, and he is hands-down the best trainer around! He truly is an expert in his field, and he genuinely cares about the success of each of his clients; whatever your fitness goals are, Ray can help you achieve them. I always loved the variety that he brought to my workouts, and I appreciated his no non-sense approach when it came to doing what it takes (ahem -- food journals!). Ray is amazing! I have been working with him for about 8 months now. If you asked me 8 months ago where I thought I would be, I would have never been able to dream up where I've actually gotten. So far I have lost 25 pounds and the most amazing stats, gone from 34% body fat to 27.5% and counting. I am a lean mean machine now thanks to Ray's tireless motivation and of course my own hard work. I started my 'fitness' journey after I went through a stressful time in my life and I gained a lot of weight. I tried on my own to eat 'healthy' and 'workout' but I wasn't seeing any results.  I was at the point of just wanting give up. I came across Ray's yelp page and read all these great reviews; seriously, they seemed to be too good to be true.  I told myself that this was going to be the last time I paid for a trainer.  I am so glad I contacted Ray!  I purchased the 2x a week plan for 3 months and got really great results.  I lost 10 lbs and 4% body fat. My ENTIRE life I haven't been able to jog a mile, now I can jog 4-5 miles without stopping which is something I always wanted to do but never thought I would be able to!   I've never worked so hard, or sweat so much in my life!!!  The payoff is that I have more energy, my body is becoming more toned, my jeans are fitting better, and I could not be happier with the results. Not only has Ray helped me get in shape but he has helped me get my nutrition back on track.  His simple approach to nutrition has become a permanent part of my lifestyle.  I've worked with many trainers over the years and I can definitely say that Ray is one of the best I've worked with. Ray is by far the best peak performance trainer! I have never met anybody so up for ANY challenge. Ray truly knows that nothing is impossible and effectively motivated me past what I thought were my physical limits. Before I trained with Ray I reminisced about the shape I was in at age 24. I told everyone that at 24 I was in the best shape of my life and that there was no way I could be that fit again. After working with Ray my whole mindset completely transformed. I am now in the best shape I have ever been in and know that I can achieve so much more. I couldn't have done it without Ray's expertise, positive attitude and adaptable training style. The best decision I have made towards my fitness goals was to bring Ray on board as my personal trainer.  No stranger to the gym, for the last 10+ years, I have incorporated the gym into my active lifestyle. I felt I had reached my plateau and was really uninspired with the same repetitive exercises I had learned throughout the years. I needed a breath of fresh air, something to inspire me to reach 110% and I found that in Ray. It is never a dull moment as he motivates you to push yourself past your limits. I've been seeing Ray for about a year and a half and I really can't imagine him not in my life.  I've never met someone more inspirational than Ray.  He inspires you to keep going and be your best.  Our workouts are so intense; we work on all muscles in the body with plyometrics in between sets to keep your heart rate up.  Ray shows me how to do the exercise using correct form so I don't hurt myself.Ray goes above and beyond and has helped me achieve my goals.  He definitely pushes me to be my best even when I feel I can't do the exercise.  I've done so many exercises that I never thought I could do and it's an amazing feeling when you exceed your own expectations.  Not only do I want to succeed for my own benefit, but I also want to make him proud.  He truly is an amazing person and the BEST trainer you will ever find.. Before I trained the Isotonex way, I thought I worked out hard. Then I realized the true meaning of a good workout. For years, I always thought of myself as a pretty active and fit person. I hiked regularly, went to the gym, did various workout DVD's, but nothing I have done or will do, can ever compare to a training session with Isotonex. Isotonex  epitomizes everything personal training should be. The genuine attentive care I received enabled me to safely push my limits, build my strength, and inspire me to become better. I have had personal trainers in the past that seemed disinterested and didn't motivate me at all. I have seen the personal trainers on TV screaming and belittling his or her client to "motivate" them. So naturally, when I went for my first session with Isotonex, I really didn't know what to expect. What I found was encouragement that not only motivated me to complete the work out session at hand, but also lit a fire inside of me to ultimately become better. Every time I wanted to quit, every time I thought I was too tired to continue, I heard a genuine voice telling me I could do it and that in this sport, failure is a good thing. Failure is a good thing. It's only been a day since my training session and I'm still in awe of how amazing my workout was. I cannot stop raving to everyone I know about it. I've had personal trainers on and off for the last 7 years, but no one has ever stood out to make me want to sign up with them again... until I met Ray. I started searching for a personal trainer a few months before my wedding and uppon some research on Yelp, I came accross Isotonex. Based on such stellar reviews, I decided to give Ray a try, but I have to admit... I was a bit skeptical, after all, who can have so many reviews all of them 5 stars, right Well, Ray can and after you meet with him, you just know that you are in good hands. From the food plan (which includes, daily food journal monitoring and trust me, he will make you accountable to do it and you want that), to the personalized exercise plan that will fit your lifestyle and get you results, to the support and energy to get you motivated... Ray covers everything and he will never give up on you, even when you start giving up on yourself.Every workout with Ray it's like working out for the first time. Not only does he keep changing the routine making it fun and exciting, he makes sure that my entire body is worked out, which makes me feel amazing when I'm done. Ray is such a great genuine guy, who always cares about his clients and always makes sure, the client he is with is his main priority. His sessions are 60 minutes and that means nothing less than that - for those of you who have experienced careless trainers, who are always looking at the time, rather than concentrate on the client, you know what I mean.I first signed up for a 3 month plan, to get me ready for my wedding, which was on October 2, 2010. Highly recommended trainer!I lost 5% body fat within 2 months of training (16% to 11%) and I've been feeling healthy and in shape.Ray concentrates on all aspects of training. From reading meal journals to monitoring your own workout schedule. It takes dedication to follow his plan but it's definitely worth it.If you want results, talk to him! First off let me just say that Ray has changed me for life!I enrolled at Golds gym over 10 years ago and was a casual gym participant. I would go to the gym 3 times a week, maybe 4, and would try and just lift heavy with little to no cardio at all. I was sitting around 200 lbs and had little motivation to improve. In 2005 my wife got pregnant with twins and I put on the baby weight right along with her. We had the girls in Aug of 2006 and I stopped going to the gym right around when they were born. I cancelled my gym membership. I kept on putting on weigt and got up to around 210 lbs. In the beginning of 2009 I started racing motocross and lost some weight just from doing that. I got back down to around 195 lbs. At the beginning of 2010 I decided to start back up at Golds gym. I got my membership back and went right back into my old routien of 3-4 days a week and just lifting, no cardio. I had met a few new people at the gym and in June I entered into a bet with a co-worker as to who could lose more weight and get in better shape in 3 months. Our bet was to be  from July 1st till Oct. 1st. I decided to take this very seriously and a few of my new friends at the gym told me to talk to Ray,  he was an incredible trainer and would whoop me into shape. I emailed Ray and set up a meeting with him to talk about some training and nutrition. After talking to Ray for 5 minutes I knew this was the guy that I wanted to get me into shape. He is very motivated about health and athleticism and he's just an all around great guy. He placed me on a nutritional plan, and I attended a few training sessions with him.The results have been INCREDIBLE!!! I went from around 192 lbs in July to 170 lbs on October 1st. That's a little over 20 lbs lost in 3 months! As you would expect I WON my bet. =) Thanks to Ray! He has transformed my diet and I am so much healthier than I was in the last 10 years. I never thought I could get a six pack ever, but I've got a great 4 pack going and am working on the last 2! Anyone who is interested in losing weight NEEDS to contact Ray. I began to take my personal fitness seriously in 2009 after reaching an all-time weight high. I started off with DVD systems like "P90X" and "Insanity" with the mentality that the DVDs were just as good as any personal trainer if not better. This year, my girlfriend convinced me to join Ray's summer boot-camp. I really didn't know what to expect, but I figured since I've been doing "Insanity," this should be the same. I'm very excited to say that I was wrong. The first thing I noticed on day one was Ray's energy. You can tell that he's a genuinely positive person and very passionate about his work. He's never fake and never slacking on the job. He pays close attention to detail; you can tell that he cares about each person in the program. I felt that within the boot camp setting, I would be just another face in the crowd; like a kid in a big class, being lectured but not being taught. But no matter how many people attended, Ray was able to spend time with every person on every station and give them individual tips on how to cater the workout to them.With the DVDs, you go through the motions, but you don't have any guidance, direction or coaching. The DVD can't correct your form, tell you to push harder when you're slacking or modify a move for you when you're obviously exhausted. Ray does all this, but never in such a way that you feel discouraged or that you're coming up short. He knew exactly what to say and what to do to get me to give everything I had in every workout. I became excited, looking forward to going to boot camp, as opposed to dreading the time I would have to spend with the DVDs. There would always be something fresh and new. I used to struggle and feel old trying to keep up with my younger cousins when playing sports, but not anymore. STOP!  If you're reading this you're obviously looking for a trainer and you should stop looking.... You've found The One.  Let me start off by saying that I am not a "weekend warrior".  I am not, or was not, any kind of warrior when it came to exercise and physical activity.  I was a significantly over weight working mother  of 3 very active boys...busy just trying to keep up with them and their schedules and letting myself go.  It had been many years since I'd done any type of regular physical activity and I had convinced myself that I hated exercise, sweat, and all that goes with it.  But, I was miserable with myself and decided with all that I'd accomplished, the one area where I'd totally failed was my body.  Time to DO something about it....so to Yelp I went.  I saw all of the reviews and quickly noted that Ray had far more than any other person on here.  So I went  to the Isotonex website and honestly, was intimidated....exactly for the reasons previously noted.  I waited a few days and built up my nerve and reached out...and then into my life walked Ray Vargas.  At our first meeting right away he was informative and understanding.  He listened to my doubts and asked questions.  He explained the benefits of his program and what he proposed to do for me.  He did not guarantee weight loss.  He did not guarantee that I'd suddenly love exercise, but he promised to work with and guide me through all of it.  And he has done that and so much more.  I could tell you that in the 4 months I've been working with Ray I've lost 7 inches off my waist, 2 off my arms and 4 off my thighs; I've dropped 3 (almost 4) pant sizes and had to buy all new belts; I wear tank tops and people comment on my arms (mine seriously?!);  but really, the biggest change has been inside.  I am happier and smile more; I am more patient and confident at work and at home; I have a sense of accomplishment and a drive to be a better person.  Oh, and after 4 months, and believe me it took awhile, I LOVE my time working out.    Amazing stuff, all of it, at least for me.  Ray's program works.  The diet and nutritional information, the customized workouts, and Ray's insane commitment to excellence are the perfect trifecta.  Ray watches and learns about you and your needs and is able to offer the exercises specific to your body and your goals.  It is always a HARD work out whatever level you start at....from below zero (like me) to competitive athlete (like many of his other clients), but Ray is always encouraging and supportive and never lets you settle for less than your best....but he also never makes you feel badly about where you are.  He focuses on form - demonstrating, correcting, and coaching.  He pushes when you need to be pushed - many times I look at him like he's crazy, I can't do THAT, and then voila, I CAN do that.... As much as I enjoy group exercise, I found I was not getting the desired results. Enter Isotonex.  You know a trainer's value when, despite the per session charge, has such a full schedule that finding a time for an introductory meeting, much less a regular session, takes a month.  Well, it was worth the wait and the expense.  From my first introduction, I was impressed by Ray's knowledge and professionalism. He offered a holistic approach, combining fitness sessions (of strengthening and fat-burning cardio) with nutritional guidance all based on experience and informed knowledge which other trainers I spoke with did not seem to have.Ray lives the lifestyle he promotes you undertaking to reach and maintain your optimal physical condition, not only being in excellent condition himself but continually striving to physically challenge himself.  I had completed a mini boot camp before signing up which, in a lot of ways, dictated what I did not want in a trainer.  I felt like the marketing photos and bio reflected a trainer from a few years before who had clearly fallen off the health wagon.  So much so, that he didn't even demonstrate the exercises. But, I digress...That is not Ray.  First, he demonstrates each activity showing correct form.  Then he is focused throughout the session, gauging at which moment to assist or add a little more resistance, helping make sure you maintain correct form throughout.  In my case, being unfamiliar with equipment and lacking in strength, quick enough reflexes to to jump in at a moment's notice to prevent embarrassing catastrophes.Ray also varies each session.  When combined with the ongoing gauging of your abilities and progress, you are continually challenged and find yourself completing activities you would not have imagined possible.   I can not give enough credit for how helpful his nutritional guidance and evaluation of my meals was.  That, in itself, has been transformational and I can only say "thank you" again. I signed up for a 10-pack of personal training sessions and a nutrition plan. I definitely saw progress when working with Ray, but the thing that stood out the most for me was the information I retained and applied to my daily lifestyle from the nutrition plan. One thing that I was really able to combat was my sugar intake...I went from having a mocha a day to none (or at the most one a month for a special treat)! Although I do not follow the nutrition plan to a T anymore, I do think about what I am eating at every meal and know what I *should* eat. This information has stuck with me and is something I continue to apply to my daily routine. More...

Ray was brought up in a conversation I was having with a few friends about trainers. What I kept coming back to was how unique he was. How his focus is always on his clients. Ray is the best personal trainer.  Believe me!  I've had my share.  He's very dedicated to getting you the results you want.  He understands nutrition.  I enjoy every work out  - So much fun!  I've had trainers in the past that were very impatient, but Ray really knows how to teach.  He doesn't get frustrated if you don't know how to do something.  He motivates you so that you don't give up.  I've been training with Ray going on my second month.  I've lost 32lbs total and 2% body fat.  I couldn't be happier.  I fit into clothes I couldn't fit into before.  If your serious about getting in shape and feeling better, I highly recommend Ray. Ray is an absolute Godsend! I started training with Ray over this past summer, and in this short while I cannot begin to describe in words how much this experience has changed me.  I had maintained a slender weight throughout my life, but halfway into college the late study nights and quick meals started to catch up with me and I developed some really bad eating habits and gained a load of weight in a few short years. My wonderful sister set up a meeting for me with Ray, and after our first meeting I was convinced that Isotonex was the way to go to reach my goals!Ray knows what he is talking about. Period. He thoroughly understands how the human body works. This isn't one of those fad diet programs, this is the real thing. Ray goes above and beyond to ensure each of his clients reaches their goals. He pushes and challenges you during your workout while still ensuring that you are working out safely.During our workouts, I have observed other trainers at work. One thing that sets Ray apart from others is his level of genuine care for his clients. Ray NEVER leaves my side. He is always making sure that my form is good, that I'm working out at the appropriate intensity level, and is always looking out for my safety. He is always encouraging me, through every rep. He's that voice in my ear telling me to keep pushing, I can do it, and to never give up on myself. He's the person who is telling me I can do it, when I am doubting myself. I had some really bad experiences with trainers in the past, none of them got me any results and were just a huge waste of time and money. I really wanted to get in good shape before college started but was afraid of losing the money I had saved up for college on a trainer who would once again get me nowhere. When I told my friends I was thinking about hiring a trainer they all pointed me to Ray. Ray Vargas is hands-down the best investment I have ever made. I was with Ray for six weeks and lost 4.5% body fat. Ray is as focused as he promises, he gives you his full attention, makes workouts fun, and is able to make you laugh even when you thought you were going to die from exhaustion. Ray offers so much motivation and encouragement that it's inspiring. Even if you think you've hit your limit the encouragement he offers makes you get up and go again. Ray's sincere goal is to help you succeed and reach the goal you're aiming for. Even outside our workout sessions, if he saw me in the gym and I was doing something wrong he would come over and perfect my form. Unlike all the diets advertised on TV, his actually work. For the first time in my life I actually lost weight WHILE turning fat into muscle. Ray also writes down all the exercises you perform everyday in a book so when your time with him is up it's easy to maintain the results you gained with him. I was so impressed by the results I got that even though all my other friends signed up at a different gym this year, I signed up at Gold's again just to train with Ray. I returned to the gym earlier this year (late April) after many years of slacking with the hope and intentions of getting into the best shape of my life. I'd considered a personal trainer earlier in my life but always figured I could get by, and nobody ever stood out as exceptional. When I opened the binder at Gold's and saw Ray's slot missing business cards it prompted me to think there was something going on here & that I needed in on it! So I scheduled a meeting and was delighted with the professional attitude and presence Ray exhibited. Not only did he explain his plan, he made a connection to what I was looking for and translated it to a workable goal.Ray examines your status (health, lifestyle, day-to-day demands) and structures a plan based on your goals. The one-on-one training is like nothing like I've ever experienced (and I'd trained with the best for the Wildflower Triathlon over 10 years ago). Not only does Ray teach step-by-step exercises on the machines, etc., he instills correct form and execution to enable you to benefit to your fullest, working smarter not harder. Isontonex's plan is to equip you with the overall mindset of health, fitness, & performance not only from the esthetic aspect but also from a functionality standpoint, all while knowing the man has your back, pushing you further than you'd ever expected from yourself. UPDATE TO MY UPDATE: I've completed a 5K, 1/2 marathon and a Muddy Buddy race since training with Isotonex. Who would have imagined?!UPDATE: I am seeing results bigtime! Inches are being lost. New clothes are in the closet because my other ones were too baggy. Whooo hooo an excuse to shop and feel good while doing it! : ) Ray has been amazing. He has helped me a tremendous deal with my ankle strength and stability. Since having one-on-one sessions with him, I have gone the longest in my adult life without a sprain or injury. Ray IS THE BEST TRAINER I have met so far.  He's very knowledgeable as well as nice to deal with.  He's definitely not intimidating, and looking at him and his wife is walking advertisement enough.I currently work out at Club One and although he trains at the Gold's Gym its making me change my mind about where I work out at or even adding another gym to my monthly expenses to have more training sessions with him.It's definitely true that he works with your schedule.  My schedule is quite hectic being a mother of a three year old and so my work out times with him is at 6am. CRAZY ME I KNOW!!! He's definitely so much fun to work out with.  All workouts are different and challenging, but fun and I've learned so much about my health and fitness that I never knew before.  At first I wanted to train for 3 months, but now I'm considering of extending that to 6 months.After the first month, I lost 5 lbs and lost 3.5% BODY FAT....HELL YEAH DAMMIT...He's GOOD!!! My clothes are starting to fall off too!!!  It's also nice to see my improvements from day one.  I'm able to keep up with the intensity of my personal training sessions and my world around it just feels so much better.  I'm not as stressed out with life when I can hit the gym and I know that Ray has helped. Ray is the best trainer I have had, and I have had quite a few in many different gyms.  I was so disappointed with all the trainers I had in the past that I was convinced there is no good trainer out there.  Finally my husband convinced me to meet with Ray.  The first time I met with Ray I told him how frustrated I was with trainers and that I wanted someone to really challenge me instead of giving me routines that I can easily do.  I could see since day one that Ray was very different than any other trainer I had in the past.  He makes me work hard, he would challenge me, but at the same time he is very encouraging and nice.  I have seen results since the first week of my training.  Ray is definitely the best trainer I have ever had, and I plan to go back to him for more challenge :-) More...

I was a competitive rower for 14 years, and I contacted Ray because I have having a hard time putting on any muscle.  I have been training with Ray for the last 2 months and I have seen more progress during this time than I have in years.  I have been able to gain muscle while loosing fat.Ray's program is very comprehensive and tailored for each person. I am a relatively active guy who has been working out in the gym most of my life. I was not looking to change up my routine until I noticed my wife's workouts with Ray and thought I'd try out a few sessions. Before that, I had Ray start me out a food plan so that I can jumpstart my health and develop eating habits that fitted my lifestyle. Within a few days of starting the program and trying a few sessions with Ray, I saw great improvements in my energy levels and definitely broke out of my rut in my workout routine. Within a couple weeks of training (6 sessions) and a combination of cardio and sticking to my personalized eating plan, I had lost 1% of body fat and gained 5 pounds of lean muscle mass! When I started on this journey of fitness training with Ray, I never expected this to amount to anything more than just a jump-start to change up my fitness routine. The constant travel from my job had finally taken a toll on my physical health (and I am already dealing with chronic health issues) by mid-October of 2008, which I felt I needed someone to motivate me to work out on a regular basis again. Great that Yelp guided me to the right person! I liked Ray from our first meeting, when he realistically tells you the results you get will be through hard work and commitment on your part - and that meant taking part on a complete nutritional and fitness plan. He doesn't try to fast sell you and really takes the time to understand where you are coming from and what are the results you want ultimately. So I embarked on this fitness journey with Ray and within a couple of sessions and sticking with the eating plans, I could feel and see results. The biggest lifestyle change was committing to a whole different way of eating and doing my cardio consistently. I have never had more energy in my life! His training sessions are also always consistently great - he tweaks your form on the machines like no other trainer I have been with and always changes up the routine. It has been a "love/hate" relationship with this guy - love that I am getting results after every workout / hate that it's hard work! He really lives the philosophies of what he does - which is to take ownership to put the extra effort in order to achieve life results. Working out with Ray has really transformed my life. Ray Vargas is an amazing personal trainer and I highly recommend him!! I look around at the gym and see other trainers talking too much and not really working their clients very hard. When training with Ray, you are guaranteed to be sweating in no time! I had a list of trainers to chose from when I was first looking for one, and he was the only one who responded professionally and seemed very real and knowledgeable about training! He is really worth the money! I was always told that I shouldn't spend money on a personal trainer, but I do not regret it at all after training with Ray. He initially asks you questions to find out more about you and what you want your goals to be. I didn't want to lose weight, I just wanted to get toned in certain areas. I have been working out for years and never saw results! Just after a couple of sessions, I felt like I would be getting results quickly! I became addicted and trained with him for almost 2 months before going to Australia and successfully achieved the results I wanted. Ray always made the workouts interesting with not doing the same routine twice. The work outs can be challenging, but if you are motivated and want results, he will get you through it! I learned a lot about nutrition, how to work the machines, and about which muscles I was working out during each exercise. Ray is always focused on you for the whole hour! I feel much better about myself and much healthier overall after my sessions with Ray and will definitely be going back to him! Not only is he an amazing trainer, but a great guy!! My husband noticed Ray Vargas training clients at our gym and suggested I try him out.  It was the best move I could have made toward getting myself more fit.  Ray has challenged me more than I thought possible and for the most part I have been able to meet his challenges.  We have worked on core strength,balance and overall fitness using exercises I never knew existed.  Every work-out is a challenge for me but I am enjoying the results.  Ray is so encouraging it makes you want to do more.  I would recommend Iso-Tonix to anyone who wants to be energized about fitness.  Ray is truly an amazing trainer! I've just started out on my journey with Ray and Iso-tonix - it's been about 4 weeks.  That might sound like a long time to some but, for anyone who has tried to lose weight or get back in shape, you know that's not long at all.  In the few sessions I've had with Ray, I am already seeing a difference in both my body, my attitude towards food, fitness and life in general.  My energy has increased, my appetite is under control and I have found myself actually WANTING to work out.  Every workout with Ray has been different but just as challenging and rewarding as the last.  Not only am I working out, feeling better and less stressed but I'm having lots of fun too.I cannot wait to update this review at the end of my 4 month session with Ray and Iso-tonix and share with everyone the progress we made because I can already tell it's going to be exceptional. I started window shopping for a new trainer in April of this year. For my research, I carefully watched the trainers at my gym - their style, demeanor with clients, expertise, etc. Ray caught my eye because he was always smiling with his clients and he looked like he really knew his stuff. I thought he was very sharp and cutting edge. My instincts were right. I had to get into fighting shape for a fitness test for a potential government job. There were very strict guidelines and scoring protocol to this test that I shared with Ray. He tailored my training regimen to my individual needs with what would get me to my goal in the most efficient manner given my tight time constraints. Ray got me beyond that point and I passed my fitness test! I also got into the best shape of my life.Ray was very focused, incredibly dedicated to what became "our" cause, and stayed the course through the hard times (we had a few!). He's all heart ... with a little muscle wrapped around! Our training regimen was intense and serious, but he still made it fun. I built muscles (and stamina) I never knew I had. Ray showed me proper technique and educated me while kicking my new body into the most fabulous shape ever! Over the four short months that he trained me, I shed 15 pounds, dropped 4 pant sizes, and a total of over 20 inches!! By our two month mark, I had already lost 4% body fat! I have been a gym rat most my life and know my way around. I have also had other trainers who were great. But my body never achieved the level of fitness that it did with Ray's guidance. The difference is that Ray trains holistically - meaning he addresses the whole person taking into account factors such as diet, mental and physical fatigue, schedule, lifestyle, etc. And he incorporates different training techniques (i.e., plyometrics, cardio, weights) so you don't have a chance to plateau and are constantly improving. Every training day was a pleasant surprise! He changes your routine based on your feedback and results. Whether you are training hard or not, you hit plateaus - mental and physical. Ray is the first trainer I had who recognized and addressed this connection between physical and mental well being. There were times when I hit my wall, he was there to support me no matter what. He went the extra mile and it's because of his dedication and care for his craft that I surpassed my fitness goals. I know I could not have achieved my goals without his guidance. I still grab Ray whenever I can for adhoc sessions. Toward the end of our regular training days together, I could see people watching us, thinking - "that trainer is always smiling with his clients"... now I know - he's smiling because he's inflicting some good pain!! When it came time for me to find a another trainer, I really took my time and talked to a lot of people. A few months and dozens of phone calls and meetings later, I chose Ray. Having worked out with him since May, I know I made the perfect choice. I've worked with other trainers, so I knew what I wanted to get out of my sessions. Ray is a really outstanding trainer. I have been exercising for quite some time but wasn't really seeing the results I wanted and needed some major help getting on track with my diet. My husband and I signed up with Ray following our new year resolution to get fit. Never having worked with a personal trainer before, we were unsure what to expect and figured it would be extremely expensive. We were pleasantly surprised and are very happy, satisfied clients. We've been working with Ray the past month and though we haven't been able to stick closely to the exercise schedule and diet Ray recommended because of other things going on in our lives, the results are tangible. My clothes fit much better and we both have far more energy. Contemplating how fit we would be if we continue to work with him the next couple of months made me fleetingly consider canceling my upcoming vacation in favor of working out, and I am no fitness fanatic. Ray is that good.Ray is a gentleman, easy to communicate with, is unfailingly supportive and encouraging, respectful, open minded and is one of those people who under promise and over deliver. I've been with Ray since mid-November and I am truly AMAZED at what he's been able to do to me.  In January I'm competing in my second pageant on the Miss America circuit, and I started with Ray to get in "swimsuit shape" so I could become a real competitor. In the first three weeks I dropped seven pounds and countless inches off my legs and upper body. (I'll update this review with my total numbers and results from my pageant when I know them!)What's truly incredible is I started a complete novice, and horribly out of shape. When we began I had limitations on what exercises I could do because of a bad back, and he worked around them.  Then two and a half weeks in I sprained my knee (freak accident having NOTHING to do with Ray), and he still managed to work me to the bone! He's fantastic at pushing you to your very limit, and beyond, without making you feel weak, or like a failure. I always leave our sessions exhausted, but very excited about the work we've done. Ray emphasized working out correctly and maintaining a healthy diet to complement the exercise you do with him. It's an incredibly healthy approach that anyone can follow and see results. (He really works you smarter instead of harder)Iso-Tonix is worth every penny, I know Ray could make anyone look good for any occasion!!**Update: Didn't win the pageant...(the judges went for a much leggier blonde...oh well), but I looked AMAZING in the swimsuit and never felt more comfortable in my own skin. Ray is hands down the best trainer I've worked with.  I had been training on my own for several months and while I thought I was doing OK, I wanted to take my performance to the next level.  Not only has Ray done that for me but he has far exceeded my expectations about what can be accomplished in a given amount of time. Unlike other trainers I've worked with Ray really understands the science behind the exercises and diet, and knows how to quickly dial in a customized program based on your needs, which may be very different from the next person's.  Most importantly, though, you can tell that Ray really cares about his clients' success. You will want to work your ass off with Ray, because he drives you to do your best and is there with you every step of the way. More...

I first heard about Ray through Cristina at Blu Cocoon Med Spa.  It took me a few months to finally make the committment, but I'm very glad I did.  Ray worked with my crazy work schedule and met me 3 times a week at 6 AM!  He loves what he does which makes it nice to work with him.  No work out was ever the same and I definitely see results.  He's not the kind of trainer that yells or preaches at you which I liked.  But if that's what you need, I'm sure he could accomodate you! ;o)  I highly recommend working with Ray to help kick start your new life! Ray is a terrific personal trainer and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to seriously get in shape.I had a personal trainer at 24hr fitness who was horrible, which made me hesitant to spend money on another one.  After my first consultation with Ray, however, I was convinced to give it another go.  He has a methodical approach to how one should get into shape, basing it not only on losing weight, but focusing on reducing body fat (and getting the body to learn to efficiently use it).  This included weight training, cardio plan and nutrition guide. The training sessions themselves were very productive.  He tailors it based on your goals and he's always throwing in variety - my favorite activities were anything to do with the activity ladder and balancing on the bosu ball.  It was like PE!  And unlike my horrible experience with 24hr fitness where the trainer was usually talking to other people or wandering around, Ray is very attentive.  He ensures that you're using the right technique and posture so that you focus on the area you're trying to work out (and so you don't hurt yourself). He is sometimes too attentive because he doesn't let you cheat :)  However, he's not militant but is rather supportive.  If you're having a hard time with an exercise, he's there to spot you, but he won't let you give up.The only unfortunate thing is that the most affordable option required me to join Gold's Gym, which no longer works for me since I require day care services for my 1 year old.  Ray is pretty flexible about schedule and has other options so it may not be an issue for you.So if you enjoy having the discipline and guidance that comes from a trainer (and you need a gym :), then you should definitely give Iso-Tonix a try. Ok, so my fat ass has yet to train with Ray... but I'm working on it. The reason for the five stars is because I have referred him to a couple of clients and they cannot stop RAVING! about him.  They both tell me that his workouts are fun and productive, and he keeps them motivated! Best of all, the results are phenomenal! Maybe I need to stop sending clients his way, because he is making them look too good, and they may not have a need for me again! Slow it down, Ray... hahaha...I am usually very leary of recommending people I have not used myself because my reputation is on the line. But, Ray came so highly recommended I decided to send people there, and I am so glad I did! Ray didn't let me down. I will definitely continue to recommend him to my friends and clients! More...

Ray @ Iso-tonix is the best trainer in the world. Not only is he professional and fun, but his nutritional guide and workouts are realistic, and diverse, which keeps me motivated. I am not one who LOVES to workout, so, I need a lot of support and encouragement, which Ray is great at. He also is in constant communication via e-mail or texting so if you have a question you get a quick response. I travel back and forth between Emeryville (you know... where the Ikea by SF bay bridge is) and San Jose for work and am busy 24/7. I work all day, attend mixers/launch parties/visit businesses/etc. at night (FOR WORK) and STILL manage to have my personal play time during the weekends. Even with ALL that going on, Ray has always managed to make time for my appointments! He is THE BEST trainer EVER! He is motivating and upbeat and never lets me fail even when my arms and legs feel like they are about to fall off. I'm lazy, eat junk food like no other and yet, am toning up, losing weight and have more energy than ever.I definitely recommend Iso-Tonix to everyone and anyone because they are so versatile and can customize your workout regimen to fit your lifestyle. Being a stay-at-home Mom who also works from home, it is hard for me to get in a good workout. After starting my training with Ray, I saw quick results after a very short period of time. Ray really knows how to maximize the little time I do have at the gym to get the results that I want. He put together a nutrition plan that let me incorporate the foods my family eats, so that I did not have to prepare two separate meals. It is obvious that he knows what he is doing; he customized my personal training to everything I could have asked for. He made the training session's fun and interesting, incorporating new things each time. I had a personal goal for myself to run in a 10k, and had a short period of time to train. Ray gave me a training plan to accomplish my goal. I was able to finish my first race in a quicker time than I ever thought and I felt great! I see Ray training other clients, and have to say that he seems to really train each person as an individual. He tailors the training to the needs of his clients and it is a great thing. I have had trainers before, but Ray was the first one to get me the results I really wanted. He is a great trainer and I would definitely recommend Ray to anyone who is looking for a great workout, with great results!
