We had a Crepe party for my daughter's college send off party. It was a great hit!! The crepes were delicious. They offer both sweet and savory. Our guests got to order whatever they wanted on their crepe via a cute little order sheet. The crepe station and crepes was a novelty everyone was talking about. This is a cute little French bakery place located in a small shopping area off Encinitas Boulevard. My niece and I stopped here for breakfast before heading to the strawberry fields. Small dining area but they also have outside seating. It smelled of freshly baked bread. I'm a sucker for fresh breads so decided to have their croissant breakfast sandwich. We just shared because it was a pretty big sandwich . Their croissant was flaky buttery but soft in the inside. Eggs cooked scrambled and fluffy with ham. Yummy. I also had hot coffee to go with the sandwich. Their pastries looked delicious as well but I was full so didn't order this time. This place is LEGIT! The food is about as good as you can get outside of France itself, but what really pushed my rating to 5-star is the incredible woman working the counter, Sophia. Having a great product to sell is imperative to survive, but having great people to connect with the customer is what makes a business thrive. Sophia is the epitome of what every team member should strive to be. As I waited for my food, I witnessed Sophia authentically connect with everyone in the shop. The mother of two that walked in to the shop was greeted by Sophia's genuine compliment "I have to tell you, you are so beautiful." I found this bakery when we first moved to Encinitas 11 years ago. It is my go to place for good, strong coffee and authentic baked goods. My favorites are the chocolate-almond croissant, the plain croissant, the chocolate croissant, the macaroons and the palmiers. My daughter loves the chocolate chip cookies. We ordered a birthday cake here for my mom's party and it was delicious!! I never actually ordered any food off the menu in my many, many visits, so I can't comment on that. I highly recommend. This place is a great little European bakery. I just lived into the area and was looking for a bakery that had quality pastries. I walked into this place yesterday and the smells immediately took me back to Europe. Yes, half the case is dedicated with heavily frosted American delights, including brownies, but it's the OTHER half of the case that makes me feel like I entered a bakery in Europe. When we entertain, we always look for something unique to make the evening more memorable for our guests. I connected with Isabelle Briens a couple of weeks before Christmas about a French crepe party on the 26th. So reassuring that Isabelle responds immediately to any call or text you send.Our guests had a blast trying the savory and sweet crepes prepared by both Sandra and Suzanne, two of Isabelle's colleagues. They set-up about 45 minutes before guests started arriving, making it all so easy. Our guests were completely taken with the crepes, Sandra, Suzanne and Isabelle (who easily got the soiree rolling by walking around the room taking orders!). I had not been here in awhile--A serendipitous visit while waiting for my car at Discount Tires in the same area, I stopped for a cafe latte--I also had an almondine pastry and both of these were savored! Absolutely divinely delicious! I've also had salads and omelette and gotten desserts for dinner guests at home! My cafe latte and almondine was luxurious and created the European ambience--The staff is friendly and and gave me a sample of pastry without even me asking--Isabelle, the owner, is hospitable and knowledgeable! I am not typically a pastry gal, but the croissants here are unbelievable. And I'm talking about just the butter croissant--there is also a chocolate one and an almond one too! So over the years, Ive tried many items and they are all outstanding. But I'm ruined forever to eat a croissant anywhere else and I do try some occasionally elsewhere just to compare BUT all others fail (I dont get past a bite or 2, seriously). At Christmas time, she makes a beautiful Yule cake--get one to bring home or to a party. It's just such a cozy place with great eats for breakfast and lunch--I'm partial to the Croque Madame. Wonderfully made caffe lattes, too, but the straight up coffee tastes so good. Locals--you must go, you'll become a regular for sure. Visitors--make the trip at least once. The café that my friends and I wanted to go to was closed on Sundays so we searched on Yelp for another place nearby. I was surprised that I have never noticed this place before! ! The Bakery is located in a shopping center and was super easy to find and there was so much parking available. They have tables inside and outside. We ordered all kinds of stuff...Panini's, Almond Croissant and a Lemon dessert that was like a super light cheesecake (AMAZING). Everything we had at the Bakery was fresh and delicious. There was someone in the back baking and a young woman working the front. She was so sweet and answered our million questions about each dessert. They had pumpkin pie samples out and it was seriously the best I have ever tried. My friends and I sat there for hours catching up and we never felt pressured to leave or anything like that. There was a restroom which was a total plus. Before leaving, we ordered several pastries to go. The only one we didn't like was the Opera Cake but I never like Opera Cake pretty much everywhere I've tried it. One thing we took home was a Napoleon...it is SO hard to find a place that has good Napoleons in general and even harder to get one that is totally crispy like they are supposed to be. I ate the Napoleon the next day and it was AMAZING, PERFECTION! Even after being in the fridge for an extra day - it was so crispy. I am so happy that we've discovered this gem! This place is a hidden gem. So cute inside reminds me of a cafe in Paris. It's a French family owned business and let me tell you they are the sweetest ever just like there desserts super friendly and accommodating. I need a cake super short notice and they did their best and accommodating me and made the absolute best cake I've ever had. Hidden gem in a strip mall. Delightful little cafe with French charm. Everything we've ordered has been wonderful. From the veggie (and non-veggie) crepes to the breads to the sweets. The best almond croissant in the United States! This is no Americanized almond croissant, i.e. too soft and with tons of sugar. This is a real French croissant... just the right amount of "crunch" and flakiness... with almond paste perfection and a touch of powdered sugar. Catered brunch for my son's 14th birthday. Isabelle was very professional throughout the process; her staff was right on time for set up and stayed to ensure my guests are all full and satisfied.
