Insight Choices

When I moved back to LA in 2018 I needed new psychiatric services for my complex ADD. I had less than 30 days of medicine remaining and had improvement with the medication but still had many symptoms my ADD. I had just started a new job and was reluctant to have to ask for a day off to go to a doctors appointment. After calling several offices Insight was able to give my an evening appointment the following week. I was assigned to Greg Stavaridis. Because I have moved a few times for work and because I had to change Psychiatry Groups due to medical insurance issues I was concerned I would have to, once again, prove my ADD. I always find it frustrating and anxiety producing in those first few meetings. As I am very high functioning with my ADD even when not medicated I find the experience of having to explain to a new provider I lost my keys 3 times last week and forgot appointments I have reminder cards for in 15 different places including an alarm for on my phone to be laborious and at times soul-sucking. The fear I would have to explain to another provider that although I have had kept a job for 12 years and graduated with honors from a very competitive graduate program does not mean I do not have ADD I was very defensive and guarded walking into our first meeting. Greg put me at ease immediately. I had with me a letter from my last Psychiatric Nurse Practioner and Greg assured me we would continue the medication regime I was already on. He asked me questions about my symptoms no-one had asked me before and pointed me to an article about adult women with ADD and how this differs from our normal understanding of the symptoms of children and teenagers. It was first time I understood how all the symptoms I had worked together. How my ability to hyper focus was a symptom I had successfully used to succeed in my career and in school, that my need to be super organized was not OCD, but a compensatory mechanism to deal with my awareness that chaos triggered feelings of being overwhelmed and with it an inability to concentrate. That I was drawn to dramatic relationships because the drama itself kept my focus. Greg was very insightful and gave me the time I needed to express myself and my concerns going forward. I told him I felt the medication was helping but I still had problems with concentration or finishing tasks and he asked me to keep some notes for the next meeting as to what triggered my feelings of being overwhelmed and inattentive and what time of day this was happening. On my return visit we went over the notes and he identified I was having trouble in the late afternoon through early evening. He suggested a change in my medication and offered his reasons as to why he felt this new medication would be better for me and he had many patients with success on the new medication. I agreed to try it. What I didn't realize was my original medication made me nauseated almost every day for about an hour an hour after I took it. It wasn't until I stopped it I realized how much it impacted my life. I wanted the original medication to work so badly I was willing to take a medication that made me sick.  The new medication worked well. I have seen a reduction in the symptoms with it. I don't spend every single day feeling overwhelmed and I am not afraid to go into a grocery store out of fear of spending hours weighing out the pro's and con's of which eggs to buy. I still have spaciness and can be easily distracted but I don't think medication alone is going to fix this. I have ADD. I will live with this for the rest of my life. I feel fortunate to have been treated by Greg for those 4 visits. I would still be seeing him but my health insurance changed again, and I have a new provider I had to again explain my symptoms to. Because this review is for Insight and not for Greg I have given it only 4 stars. Greg deserves 5 stars. He really went out of his way to help me onto a regime that has improved my life. The front staff and records department at Insight are difficult at best. I once called and rescheduled and appointment 2 weeks in advance and first dealt with attitude from the scheduler, as if I were really inconveniencing her personally, and then received a reminder notice that my original appointment was coming up.  I called the office to clarify and they had not cancelled the original appointment. When I changed providers I had to call 3 times to have my records sent to my new doctor. I started the process 4 weeks before my first appointment and the records did not arrive until after the appointment. They can do better. More...

This review is for Sheena, my psychiatric NP and for Audra, my therapist. I came to Sheena a bit desperate for help. I had been on the same meds for depression and anxiety by another MD and they were no longer working. I selected Insight Choices based on web reviews, and found Sheena and Audra nearby. Sheena was able to switch my meds and titrate to a working dose, Her knowledge base of both medications and mental health disorders is quite remarkable. She is very easy to work with and open to ideas. She suggested that I acquire a therapist as well. Two were offered, and I selected Audra.Therapy has not been something I found very useful in the past.  I find it really hard to establish a connection with a therapist that allows me to gain insight into my feelings and decisions. I'm not the most patient person and get frustrated easily, so usually after one or two sessions I'm done. Audra has been the exception to the rule for me. She challenges me to face things that are difficult to talk about and summarizes them in ways that provide me with a better perspective on how and why I deal with issues a certain way. Her intelligence and compassion are a welcomedeparture from my past experiences with therapy and have really helped shape the way I look at life's challenges.As a side note, the offices are beautiful but you will pay for parking and it will not be cheap. I recommend Insight Choices! It seems to strive to be financially accessible to most people, which I appreciate!, and I specifically recommend Kelly as a great therapist. The only downside is that they fill up spots so fast, that you have to book sessions weeks in advanced, which can be ironically stressful. I wish they had a way to be able to book cancelled appointments online, rather than have to call in and be on hold every day. But, besides that, great spot for anyone considering to get back into therapy or try it for the first time. More...

Dr. Gregory Stavaridis is one of the best psychiatrist I have ever met. He is professional, knowledgeable and reliable.He is a psychiatrist who truly listens and cares about his patients. I felt heard, seen and cared for each time. Great place, great providers, just know that they’re very busy and you must follow the normal rules of showing up on time or calling ahead if you can’t make your appointment on time. Parking can be difficult, however.

It's a nice office and they're friendly. What lacks is the doctors trying to make a personal connection, though don't get me wrong it's not a lack of friendliness. It's just very clinical, more like a place that offers non-mental health services. Like seeing a high school guidance counselor. For continuity of care to keep receiving medicine I originally got from a different doctor, they meet my needs very well. However I'm not sure I'd feel like they know me enough to trust a new regimen they'd suggest if I wanted to change my medicine at all. I guess that comes with running a decent practice in a big city though! I'm from suburbs in NJ. One time I left a message asking for an appointment and I got in a literal car crash while leaving it, which made a loud sound. Nobody even called back LOL! More...

I am SO thankful for this woman! She has been the first psychiatrist to inform me fully enough to willingly takes meds. My biggest fear is gaining weight on meds and she blind weighed me 2 months in a row to track the change and promised to change the prescription if the change was significant. It wasnt though! Ok, first off, I should have updated this when I first met my favorite clinician (Gregory Stavaridis) at Insight Choices, there are a couple others, but this guy takes EVERYONE'S CAKE! !!I need to elaborate further about Greg, because of my experiences with him have been very cathartic, enlightening, and has improved the quality of my life immensely through a multi-faceted approach.Greg has an educational background that will make your head spin. Clinical rotations at America's top (HARVARD) university! I dunno a lot of people tag this place and I haven’t had a problem here. The only thing is that if you’d like to see a therapist get on the waiting list and be diligent about bugging them and checking every week if you are serious about your mental health.

I cannot sing enough praises of Insight Choices. Not only is it the best therapy I've ever received in my life, but there have been numerous instances of accommodation and thoughtfulness that show that they GENUINELY care for their clients. Cheron Zekavat is a very brilliant and caring therapist and Dr. Rose Nikravesh is a very good psychiatrist who is compassionate and professional. I am blessed and delighted to have found a home here. I switched to this office because the scheduling staff at the last mental health group I was at made scheduling impossible. I've been very impressed with the scheduling team here and haven't had any issues with appointments so far.I appreciate that this office has psychiatrists, talk therapists and acupuncture. I've taken advantage of the first two services and I find that having both a psychiatrist and talk therapist within the same network has made coordinating treatment easier. More...

Can't recommend Insight Choices highly enough. I've been seeing a psych since around age 8, and while I can't speak for everyone in the office, Dr. Nikravesh is as kind and caring as any psychiatrist I've ever been a patient of....she seems to genuinely care and want to help. When I moved to the Westside late last year, I met with a few doctors closer to where I live...but no one made me feel as comfortable as I did going to Insight Choices and Dr. Nikravesh. I am now back and will use this office for as long as I live in LA. BTW the front office is incredible. Extremely easy to reach...and though it's unfair to always expect this...I've found most of my calls and emails are relayed to Dr. Nikravesh and addressed same-day. You guys are great! More...

I just want to update my review to say that everyone I've seen here with the exception of Greg Stavaridis is awesome. Jay and Sheena are awesome, and Dr Chang is brilliant and compassionate. And when I had the awful experience with Greg, Dr Chang immediately fixed it. Greg, an unpleasant person with an alarming lack of empathy, tried give me a prescription for Prozac for only one month with no refill--something that is dangerous, because you can't suddenly stop Prozac without having withdrawals. The pharmacist even knew that!  But I immediately told Dr Chang and he fixed it. Whenever I book my appointment, I just say "anyone but Greg" and I'm good :) More...

My names Ikeshia Im Just in awe of the staff here and my psychiatrist Marina! I feel so comfortable opening up to her! She’s the nicest gem and she’s very understanding! I also had issues getting my prescription at the pharmacy and the staff at West Hollywood work vigoriously with the insurance to make sure I was able to get my meds in time before my work trip. I was a bit worried at first, because when I had to cancel my first appointment due to an awful flu, they said I'd have to pay the $100 fine. (Sometimes they said $60, other times $100... which was a bit confusing). I essentially begged them not to charge me because I couldn't help getting sick. The woman said she'd see what she could do. Luckily, I never saw a charge on my card - phew! I was also worried because some of these reviews are so very terrible. But, once I went, I was happy I did. Everyone at the front desk was extremely nice and informative. I also felt very comfortable with my doctor, and really liked that she seemed to be taking copious notes while we spoke. (I always wonder about psychiatrists who don't write things down... and I always have to remind them of relevant information in follow up visits). The form you have to fill out as a new patient is shockingly long, but so detailed that it makes me feel like this place is serious about making sure you're mentally (and physically) healthy and stable. In the past, I've just filled out a standard form like "are you happy? circle yes or no, sign your name. great. here's a prescription." I actually liked that the form at Insight took twenty minutes of my time. Anyway, if your insurance covers Insight Choices, I highly recommend them. And they're right in the center of everything so you can do what I did and get a butt load of errands done afterwards! Win win! More...

I just moved out to California and was struggling for the longest time to find a specialist. Not just finding a specialist but mainly finding one that was available BEFORE the end of the following month. Insight Choices has been my primary psychiatrist group for several years now. They're a bit of a psychiatrist factory in that they have multiple qualified individuals on staff that you can see at any time who can help you with your prescriptions. To see the same person again, you have to ask for them specifically. The true gem of this place is Dr. J. Ever since I ended up in a session with him, I do my best to book with him every time. He is 100% the kind of person I want to trust my inner mind to. He's incredibly open, knowledgeable, and most importantly, genuinely non-judgemental. Unlike most people who walk through their doors, I make the most of my 20 minutes and kick my shoes off, lay down on the couch, and truly unleash all that is going on in my world. As any good psychiatrist that you jive with should, he has always made me feel safe, accepted, and that there is a solace for help with him. Great Professional Care Center!! What more can I say been a patient of Dr. Rose for over a year now and she's totally the greatest!  If I run out of meds last minute she makes it right even late hours when their office is closed.  If I have an emergency I can send an email and have one back in no time again even well into the after hours.  I read some of the bad reviews here on Yelp and find them bogus, not once have I felt this place deserved a bad review.  The group at the front desk are very kind and attentive, professional, get with you ASAP, truly make you feel at home...  This wasn't my first type of doctors office I've been too.  The others really sucked and Inside Choices made me feel good about ditching the others and did so with great care and professionalism.  I'll be a patient for many years to come.Oh to add, I had a pinched nerve in my back my doctor just recommended taking over the counter pain meds which didn't work.  I mentioned the pain I was in during a session and was prescribed much needed pain management meds to take during the healing process. I've been a patient at insight choices for over 10 years and because they do not accept my insurance I am a cash patient. Recently there was an accounting issue and I was informed that I had not been charged for my last two visits which now gave me a balance due . To say I was upset was an understatement . When I spoke to Sam in the accounting department I hate to say I wasn't at my best . I was upset about the situation and wouldn't let him get a word in. After he let me finish venting all the while never losing his patience for a second ( I couldn't have blamed him if he had ) he handled the situation with complete professionalism , sincerely sympathetic to my situation . He made paying the balance easy and painless . I received an email within the hour spelling out the payment agreement , followed up with a phone call to make sure I was comfortable with the document . I was pleasantly surprised . In a perfect world mistakes wouldn't be made but of course that's not realistic , but it's nice to know when they are made that their are businesses that put their clients first . Love this place.Saw Dr. Rose about a year and a half ago, once, cause I didn't really live in LA at the time, I lived in the San Bernardino area, and she was super cool about getting my meds filled. Fast forward and now I live in Hollywood and after a terrible experience at another provider I remembered Dr. Rose. I let her know my medical history since she last saw me, my concerns I had from the previous provider and she really listened to me and made me comfortable in the treatment changes she was making. I have ADD and really bad anxiety to the point I was having seizures caused by stress. Dr. Rose prescribed something other doctors wouldn't and I have been seizure free since! I highly recommend. I've been seeing Dr. Nikravesh for two years now, and she is super helpful. She works with me to figure out the best & cheapest ways to get my prescriptions & the best ways for my insurance to work around my needs. I've had intense anxiety & depression for most of my life, but she is a psychiatrist who actually listens & adjusts my meds accordingly. For the first time in my life, I'm starting to feel like I'm finding the right mix of meds to manage.I originally saw one therapist that I didn't click with, but Dr Nikravesh was really helpful in finding me a new one and it was not a big issue. I now see Nicole for therapy, and she's amazing. She's great in helping me manage my anxiety & depression and prioritize my self-care. I don't entirely know what the complaints about the front desk are about. I go to the Weho office, and I've been there a while. It seems like the front desk staff has really expanded. They used to not answer during lunch hour when things were much smaller, but they're always good about calling back. If I'm feeling socially anxious, they quickly respond to emails and are super helpful. The front desk staff is also always helpful if I'm having issues with my meds and they're super non-judgmental which is so important. Overall, as a clinic, they use a variety of methods to help you in whatever ways you feel most comfortable. I'm still very happy with them after two years here! More...

After college I began having severe anxiety, due to the pressures of finding a job and adjusting to post grad life.
