12/31/19 - Joe, Shannon, Jennifer, the valet, and porter were amazing. I was here for NYE with friends and I drove in from LA. (Valet is $30). We were on the 3rd floor and had a nice view of the pool. Plus there was a nice size balcony with two chairs and a table. I had a drink there and watched the people in the pool before going downstairs.Knowing how much I was going to be drinking I needed food. So, we went to the bar and I ordered fish tacos. We were going on an NYE booze cruise and needed to stay nearby the harbor. My fish tacos were really good. They came with tri-colored tortilla chips with guacamole and salsa. The salsa was really good. So, after eating, we headed upstairs to get ready for the boat ride. We took an Uber to the harbor and the hotel has an Uber/Lyft pick up area. So, pick up and drop up was easy! When we came back from the boat ride...we crashed out and the bed was very comfortable. All things considering, I slept well.1/1/20 - The next day, our party asked for a late check-out which is 1 pm (as opposed to 11 am). We really needed a bloody mary. My bloody mary was delicious. And I am picky about my bloody marys. It came with two olives and a lemon and lime. I would have liked to have a stalk of celery a pickle and an option for blue cheese olives. We decided to walk around the grounds which were manicured well. I saw where they do weddings. There's a nice view.My biggest complaint is the elevator. It's super tiny and takes a long time. Other than that the rooms are nice it's a good place to stay. I did not get in the pool or the jacuzzi...If you are in need of a hotel that is nicer than average, near the harbor, this is a great selection. The staff is helpful and friendly and gave good suggestions. More...

I only stayed here for one night. I got in late so wasn't able to explore the property. But from what I was able to see it looked beautiful. The room was nice and the bed was comfortable. There was a balcony with seats to enjoy if you have the time. I was able to grab a croissant in the morning before I left which was nice. We stayed for two nights at the end of October.  Our room was on the first floor by the pool and had two beds plus a small sleeper.  When we arrived the sleeper was made up for us and the room was clean.  I saw no issues as described by other reviewers.  Our slider opened up to a very small patio across a walkway to the pool.  It was a good room for pool access, but unfortunately for us the noise and music from the pool weren't welcome.  Music started at 9am Saturday morning.  We investigated the on-site restaurant and decided we could do better (and did!).  The nice thing about Newport Beach is the restaurant selection.  We ate well all weekend.  The resort fees and valet were similar to other area hotels.  Super high everywhere in the area.  We lucked out with the valet, though.  They were fast every time and would even hold our car in front if we were leaving again soon.  You can't really walk anywhere from this hotel (that I noticed), so the valet being fast was a big deal.  The service in the coffee bar was friendly.  We were impressed with the lobby/bar area.  A lot of seating and very comfortable.  Overall I'd stay here again and request not to stay by the pool.  The grounds are beautiful.  Other reviewers mentioned the airplanes.  Air traffic out of SNA stops at 10pm and arrivals stop at 11pm. Air traffic begins again early in the AM, so you'll have a little break but maybe bring earplugs if you want to sleep in. More...

The Hyatt Regency, Newport Beach, could not have been more attentive to our needs and were always available to answer questions, make suggestions, and work with our ideas. Our family's wedding rehearsal dinner involved a large number of young children, and the staff was amazing. In addition, the banquet staff did an exceptional job enhancing our Mexican meal theme with their own added décor--it was fantastic. The food was outstanding, as was the bar service. Our guests staying at the Hyatt had an wonderful time at the resort before and after the event, and have raved about the fabulous time had by all. The staff thought of every detail and were always most helpful. I would return to this site for an event again without hesitation! More...

This review is for the wedding that my husband and I had on September 21, 2019. Our wedding turned our beautifully and we couldn't be more happy with our special day! Things we loved: - Food is excellent! From our tasting to their partnered cake vendor (Grace & Honey Cakes). We hosted our post wedding brunch and everything was fabulous! They even added in our favorite corn crema soup for us which was SO Sweet! - Bridal Suite - A beautiful room! Very spacious and we especially loved the balcony and living room space which made getting ready so easy with lots of photo ops! They had a concert series and on the Friday night we were able to watch the concert! - Ceremony venue in the amphitheater - Beautiful space! So much that not much decor was needed to make it wonderful! - The small touches - The front desk and all the staff at the Hyatt are so friendly and really makes everything seamless (Beverly was on of the ones that assisted me and my mom and she was amazing! ) - Cocktail hour space in the plaza arbor area - also another gorgeous spot-Photo ops - What really made us fall in love with this hotel was the sheer amount of beautiful greenery and photo spots. -They are wonderful in terms of letting you use items they have onsite - whether it be mirrors or easels. They also kindly provided water stations and mints for our ceremony. -Sparklers are allowed on the premise! Also drones! (With permission and a few forms filled out!) Makes for excellent photos and videos! Working with Ashley our event and venue manager We sincerely can't thank you enough for the kind hospitality and assistance throughout the wedding planning process. We really enjoyed working with you! Cons/Hiccups - The banquet chairs are so ugly..we got chiavari chairs so problem fixed for us. - planning a wedding is always a little hectic but we felt it extremely get crazy during the final week and the day of trying to make sure we got all of our paperwork and payments completed. -Our check in wasn't ready on time for our suite (although they did provide a spare room which was very nice. We came at a busy time so we completely understand that rooms were taken up for the concert series. A completely booked hotel that night a lot of our guests were arriving. - Some things to note from our guests:    - I had a few guests note that noted one of the bartenders were quite rude to some of our family and friends.   - While speeches were going on they were serving in front of us/during the best man speech. This seems like an obvious to just wait till the speech is done and come back to give us salad dressing/food. Makes for some awkward video moments.  - One of the tables were given roasted potatoes rather than the mashed potato puree which was weird because it seemed like they just ran out and were giving something else? Which made the chicken seem dry to some guests who didn't have the puree to pair with their meal. Overall, it is a beautiful space and although not everything was perfect, the wedding day was absolutely us and we enjoyed our special day to the fullest. More...

I stay in many hotels for business travel, but this hotel far exceeded my expectations.I was expecting just a regular Hotel. As it turns out, this is not a regular hotel, but a resort. Yet, there is no resort fee. Even the self parking is free. Yes they do have valet parking also. The rooms were nice, clean, and updated. But what really impressed me, was the large grounds full of entertainment options. There is a 9 Hole Golf Course on the property, free of charge. They even provide loaner clubs and balls. Amazing! There was a sand volleyball court, Half-Life sized chess set, shuffleboard, swimming pools, walking trails. I believe I saw tennis courts to, but not certain. There is a very nice exercise room. There is an area that looked like it was set up for an outdoor wedding. There is a casual dining area inside with a Starbucks like counter to order from. There is also a nicer restaurant there. There is a nice bar area, and beautiful outdoor seating area with fireplace and inviting environment. This was a great place to stay, a great meeting place, and a great place for celebrations. I would definitely keep this in mind for our next conference. Love this place. More...

I have loved Newport Beach since I was in High School. I lived inland in Glendale, so when we got the chance to shop and dine in Newport we made a day of it. I am familiar with this beautiful seaside town and know that it can be a bit $$$. If you are okay with flipping a pretty penny in a city for a hotel, meal, a bottle of water or parking then 'Welcome to Newport Beach'!I stayed at this Hyatt Regency for a couple of nights as I was attending a HS reunion beach party in Huntington. I loved my two nights but was not thrilled with the hotel restaurant SHOR (see separate review). This review is for the hotel only which I gave five stars to.  This hotel was built in the 60s and has clearly been renovated over the decades.  The buildings have that California-Spanish classic look and the typical layout of the time. Separate buildings with a wall of balconies overlooking a pool. Talking about pools, apparently they have three of them although I only found two! There was a quiet one that was steps from my back door. Then there was a family style pool in the way in thee back that was larger with a fun looking water slide! The rooms are nicely updated with a clean beachy feel. I liked my room a lot as it had a sliding door to a ground level patio. I kept the door open, with the screen closed to get a nice breeze when I was hanging inside my room. There was all the amenities that you would expect like a tea/ coffee service, mini fridge and nice toiletries. The bed was very comfortable and I had a separate sofa which came in hand to sit and read. I really loved my stay here and would do it again if I am in the area. I would just make sure to go off property for my meals ;) More...

Although I will give it four stars I will not return. My husband and I go to this resort twice a year and have always enjoyed ourselves despite the fact that the resort is a bit dated. We were here this week and scheduled to stay until Sunday. We had the unfortunate luck of having a screeching sea hag in the room next to us with her oversized dog (weight limit of 40lbs hers was at least 60). This woman was the worst and called an reported us several times for just about anything she could think of. She actually sat on her patio spying on us! Freak! Anyhoooo, the front desk called us twice without giving us the benefit of the doubt and this I found unacceptable. We are/were loyal customers multiple trips per year and they listened to an obviously unbalanced woman. We left early and will NOT be returning. Find some loyalty Hyatt and next time you should ask us what the situation is and not blindly believe miserable unbalanced people over loyal customers. More...

Newport Beach is not for the economically challenged. There's a lot of high end items, properties, autos and top of the line shopping along with breathtaking views on constant display. Where to stay has it's equivalent as well. I think in the world of "star rating" they say this place is a 4.In my book you can throw that metric out. This place has so many things to offer it should be in a class of it's own. Where else can you find 2 swimming pools(one geared for families with kids), an on property 9 hole golf course(I can't make this stuff up!), on site car and...wait for it....motorcycle rental facility, and a Summer concert series on Friday nights with top name entertainment. I didn't even mention the top shelf restaurant and bar. Well, I guess I just did. Oh, and a volleyball court but whatever. Despite the fact that it was sold out packed-to-the-gills with patrons, I can't tell you how friendly, helpful and genuinely caring the staff was from soup to nuts. That's a dated phrase that means-all the time! Price wise, it's not cheap, but it's far from pricey. You get so much value all things considered. This is truly a gem when so many shiny things are competing for your attention. Can't wait to return and indulge again. Thanks Hyatt Regency. More...

Lido building had a fitness center with a big variety of equipment- weights, stationary bikes, kettlebells, bars,  treadmill, etc. They even accommodate guests with extra towels in the facility. Visited the Lido building for our room as well.  The  room was spacious. Room amenities were comfortable. Even had a small fridge available for our beverages and any snacks or groceries we may need to have on hand. There is a coffee shop with Starbucks beverages and a few breakfast items- bagels, muffins, breakfast sandwiches, croissants, etc. prices ranged from $4-10. For instance the bagel from the coffee shop was $4 but in the restaurant steps away I noticed we paid $5.50 or so for takeout items.  Belgian waffle ($16) was delicious, I recall, from the nearby restaurant. Pool staff was so kind and helpful. We visited the main pool I believe, by the Bay, the one with a slide, spa, mini golf, cornhole, ping pong and the table soccer/fooze ball. I tried a melon beer (can $8+) and it was delicious. There is also Dippin' Dots ice cream for $6+ Don't forget your key, because it's the only way to gain access into the pools and fitness centers.
