I really enjoyed staying here for two nights while visiting a friend a few blocks away. The location is great for tourism and right off a metro line which is very nice. The building is very authentic to it's historical significance, with a gorgeous lobby and numerous antiques. They have a nightly wine reception which is great and the staff are super courteous and greet you by name as you leave and return throughout the day. The bed was very comfortable and the room was minimal but more than accommodating, I loved how they include a water carraffe in your room to fill with filtered water machines on each hall which cuts down on plastic since they offer free water bottles upon request. My room description said it had a deep soaking tub and a robe and it didn't have either. It was a third party site so they may have had details wrong, as the bathroom is not large enough to probably have ever fit a deep soak tub. It was still nice, but given my back problems, I had been looking forward to that tub. Regardless, I had a great time and would certainly stay here again! Valet I the only parking and while you have in and out privileges, it is expensive so if free parking is important to you, that's not going tj happen here. But the will see to it that you have a great time. Btw you must try the convinient Cassell's burger joint attached to the hotel, the food is absolutely delicious! More...

This hotel is pricey, but the room is bit smaller than an extended stay we always booked to, however, the plus for this hotel is the location- the koreatown, this location is proximity to restaurants, tons of restaurant and a cafe that servers burgers and breakfast right next to the hotel. The hotel is located in Korean town and near the Metro station and bus stops. Many popular Korean restaurants and shopping malls are in walking distance if you are a walker or small fee with Lyft or Uber. My room is a standard king size bed room with no cabinets or drawers in the room but I don’t usually use it anyway so no problem for me. LOVE that my room has wooden floor and no carpet. The bathroom necessities are all there. Only minus point for me would be not enough natural sunlight where the mirror located, which I did my make up there. ||The hotel staff are the stars of this hotel. From the front desk to the cleaning lady to the mechanic, they are go above and beyond with professional and friendly attitude. Even this is 2nd time I stayed in this hotel (1st in 2017) I’m still impressed with their services.||I had a difficulty with the A/C on the first day I arrived. I went and told the cleaning lady who worked next door to my room, she immediately called the mechanic and he came within 10 mins fix the problem and done. ||The front desk staff always greet you with smiles and helped answering all my questions no matter which hours of the day. |I’m goin to stay here again when I’m in town next time. If you're looking for an excellent place to stay in LA, you can't go wrong with Hotel Normandie. My wife and I just spent a week there and it was great. I'm gonna tell you why.First off, LOCATION! It's right on the cusp of Koreatown. Walk like, a block down and you're there. Plenty of great places to eat and if you want to get your tourist on, some cool buildings and architecture to snap pictures of. Two places we recommend in this area: Gong Cha off of Wilshire you get a chill vibe and unique menu of Boba and other refreshing drinks. Sit down for lunch or dinner at Quarters Korean BBQ and you'll experience attentive service, somewhat aloof staff, but some dang good food. Get the pork belly. You'll cry. The hotel itself though sits in a pretty central spot in the city because 20-30 minutes in any direction and you hit the major spots: Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Chinatown, downtown LA, etc. It took us about 40 minutes to get to Santa Monica.Secondly, Hotel Normandie has an element of class to it. It's got an old school feel with hints of steam-punk and vintage charm. There are fun elements like the valet parking, "bell-hop" (I'm going to call him that because I don't know his official title), a decent continental breakfast, complimentary water, evening social mixers, and rooftop yoga. We were kind of bummed out though that there wasn't anything in our room or anywhere else that told us about the hotel or its amenities; anything about the hotel and the area we found out through the very cool "bell-hop", who we will be getting to in a minute. The room was cozy and clean (housekeeping was amazing), beds were soft, towels and toiletries plenty. They have a nice selection of TV channels, including DisneyJr which is great when you're traveling with little people, which we were. The ONLY thing about our room that we didn't care for was the window. While it looked great and added to the overall ambiance, it was drafty, not sealed at all, and easily unlocked so if you have clever kids (which we do), steer them away from those windows. That sash gets pushed up somehow and there's nothing between them and the sidewalk below!! We were on the 4th floor...Along with all that was the noise! Every car horn, every police siren, every motorcycle and ambulance sounded like it was driving right through our room. Doesn't make for a restful evening. Now we've saved the best for last. ENTER Cameron, Jack, and CJ. Cameron and Jack were two of the valet guys and they were great. Calling us Mr. and Mrs. Reyes, respectful of my wife and children, helpful, and careful with our vehicle.CJ was our VIP, though. From the moment we arrived, he was our guy. He remembered our names and the names of our three kids. He checked us in when the front desk was busy and upgraded our room to give us more space. He told us all about the history of the hotel, it's amenities and activities, what to look for in the area, suggestions for dining, everything. He helped us up to our room with all our luggage and kids, we had a light out and he fixed it, all the while talking with us like we were old friends. That dude deserves a raise. He raises the bar for customer service and made a good experience an awesome one. More...

The location was perfect for anyone visiting LA for the food in Koreatown. It was also a perfectly (old) and renovated hotel with very cute decor. You can tell it’s old because you can hear water running in the pipes when other guests shower or the construction outside, but I didn’t mind it at all because it felt rustic and authentic. It was clean and decorated well to fit the whole theme. While I can normally be a little picky about hotels, I was really surprised by how much I liked this one. One thing to note is they have spring beds which (in case that’s an important thing to know for someone). They also have a mini fridge in the closet and serve complimentary breakfast in the mornings. A gorgeous old renovated building with friendly, helpful staff and a bed so comfy I spent some extra time in the hotel reading just to enjoy it! A homey cafe with good food shares the same building. Not sure if they have handicapped accessible bathrooms, as it's an old building, and the bathroom I had wouldn't have been able to accomodate a wheelchair. Though it's a "vintage" building, the shower pressure was very good, better than many newer hotels I've been to. More...

Good location, however, my room was adjacent to the street, the traffic noise of which was a small irritant throughout the night and affected my sleep. The hotel and room were very clean, though the furnishings in my room were visibly worn, i.e. couldve used some refreshing. The bathroom showed its age, but everything worked well. On one hand, these details could be viewed as giving the place (clearly an older hotel) some character; on the other hand, they could be viewed as allowing a lovely boutique hotel to not put its best foot forward, so to speak. Ive stayed in several boutique hotels like this one which had finely appointed furnishings and, despite the age of the property, gave it an enhanced ambience. Overall it was good, but couldve been great. More...

Stayed here for a couple of nights and really liked the hotel. It is not a luxury hotel but is a VERY nice historic hotel that is very comfortable and very friendly. It is an older hotel and charmingly shows its age, but this in no way takes away from a high quality experience. ||The rooms are very large and have comfortable beds, good linens and high quality toiletries. The hotel offers a free wine tasting every evening and a complimentary continental breakfast. The wine tasting was very nice — decent wine and allowed you to relax in the lobby.||Please note that the breakfast was the low point of my stay — very basic, poor coffee, and the breakfast room was big but barren with cardboard boxes lining one wall. If I was the hotel, I wouldn’t even offer the continental — just wasn’t that good and I skipped it the second morning.||The location was good and only a block away from the Metro. Parking was a bit steep ($38.50) but probably consistent with pricing in the area. All in all a very nice stay.|| More...

Parking is valet only unless you can find a place on the street (we did three blocks away). The elevator is quite slow and I’m impatient so... we took the stairs almost every time. The bed & pillows were super comfy and the bath towels, great, as were the toiletries. The free breakfast was good. We’re on a plant based diet so most breakfasts are slim pickings but this one had plenty of fruit, oatmeal, cereal and almond milk. Considering my guy proposed here, we will definitely be back for future stays so we did sign up for the reward system which I’m glad they offer.. I like earning rewards for things I enjoy doing! I had the opportunity recently to stay at the Hotel Normandie in KTown, LA. My experience was there was perfect and I will definitely jump at the chance to stay there again in the near future. I was just passing through LA to see family for a couple of days so I didn’t have much time to really experience much of the city, but I knew that I wanted to be in KTown, which is kinda central to a lot of other parts in LA. This way (if i planned my days out carefully to avoid traffic) I could do a lot of things even though I had limited time. ||However, what I didn’t realize before coming to this hotel was that the Normandie itself is an experience worth investing a significant amount of time at! So I ended up spending one day just on the block where the Normandie is located. ||The aesthetic of the hotel is fantastic. I felt like I had stepped into a completely different era just by the lobby. The leather furniture, and the stained wooden coffee tables gave me the impression of stepping into a speakeasy. In fact, there once was a speakeasy attached to the hotel through the Normandie Club just around the corner of the block, but I believe it isn’t currently open (womp womp, I love a good speakeasy).|While I am on the Lobby, I have to mention that the staff were very friendly (as usual in most hotels) and if you have any questions or needs, there is always someone available to help.||My favorite part of the Lobby was around 4pm, when the public wine bar/tasting time began. The hotel offers 4-5 different kinds of wine (half red, half white) and its free to go back and try any and all of them if you like. Don’t forget that it is always polite to tip.||Finally, the room was fantastic, my wife and I were upgraded to a king suite (probably because our stay was in the middle of the work week). The suite reminded me of a single bedroom New York City apartment. There is a separate “living room” with a space heater on cold days. The bed was also very comfortable, and the view outside did not look out to someone else’s apartment one building over. They have glassware in each room to cut down on the amount of plastic use which was a nice touch. The furniture is all styled much like the lobby, with antique feeling cabinetry, so if you are looking for a very more modern appeal, then I would recommend the Line which is right down the street from the Normandie. ||As for me, I will definitely be returning to the Normandie on my next trip to LA... And will get better pictures to include for the reviews! More...

The lobby is also where the afternoon wine reception is - they offer free wine to guests from 4.30-6pm. Lovely way to end a day of sightseeing.||On the other hand, my husband and I were upgraded to a junior suite from a normal room because we had to wait for the rooms to be finished cleaning (we arrived just before 4pm). Wow, the space was amazing - a king bed and a small lounge room! We also had a kettle and a bar fridge in our room, which my sister didn’t.
