I take my family to this great spot quite often! This is my favorite restaurant to grab a bite. I go there regularly. The cooking is just great, the crew is welcoming and the prices are fair. I enjoy going in this restaurant over a good meal. More...

Yum! This was a delicious night out. The three of us ordered starters and mains, and shared a dessert. Everything was excellent, including the service. I don't get to this area often but I'll definitely be back here the next time I am. More...

Great californian cuisine styled in the form of a 1970's diner, with all dishes being standout, and a good selection of affordable, thoughtful wines

Very friendly & small. About 3 blocks from the Oakland VA. A bit pricey, the proportions and taste will make up for the price. I will definitely will be there if I have time Wendy visiting the Oakland VA or that part of Oakland. More...

Imaginative dishes, very nice cocktails, a little crunched for space, but friendly staff try their best to accommodate. WELL worth a visit.

Chicken and biscuit brunch was pretty good. The waitress called me "friend" instead of "honey" or "babe" or whatever. I liked that too.

More...

Oakland’s best in cocktails, brunch, and general decadence. Eggplant Benedict, the richest of hamburgers, Japanese fried chicken.

Went for happy hour. Delicious wings and cocktails (surprisingly good cocktails)! Oysters so-so (fries served to people next to us looked like they'd be tasty though we didn't have room to get them). Friendly people and v good service. I'd go back for more! More...

Cozy and contemporary diner feel to this spot!Besides the carafe size that was disappointing for 3 people, the food was delicious and service was great! Scrambled eggs and biscuits was comfort to the soul. Buttermilk chicken is a must get! Their fried batter was so bomb, lightly crisp and treasurable to the taste buds. Chicken meat was superbly tender and went well with the sesame dresses salad! Kimchi fried rice with soft boiled egg was on point.I loved the fluffy cinnamon donuts at the end with the creamy dip that they provided along with it. It made it a hop to my step and a smile of pure delight when I was done! More...

You must eat the fried chicken here, if only to wonder at the art of the person who broke it down. Lots to love, exactly the type of opinionated idiosyncratic place you want for a neighborhood joint. Get the fried chicken tho.

Great "upscale diner" food. Would have been 5 stars except our waitress seemed alternately engaged in providing good service and indifferent. So, the service seemed slightly"off" for lack of a better term. More...

I love this kind of upscale Japanese-American fusion food. I haven't seen that much Japanese-American fusion, so I thought that this place was pretty cool and unique. I really enjoyed the food here and the interesting flavors that come from combining Japanese cuisine with American cuisine. I came here for the brunch and got the Braised Pork Belly Benedict. It was very nontraditional and different from a regular eggs benedict. The pork belly had a soy sauce asian flavor which was very interesting in combination with the hollandaise. It was also very tender and fatty which added more richness to the dish. The dish as a whole was almost too rich and I'm glad it came with a side salad. More...

Back in bay area for a week promise myself to save calories for Vegas Restaurant Week 2019 when I go back home. After a lengthy DMV visit I was about to head back to Berkeley when neighbor text me about Hopscotch. Smiles and friendly vibes from workers was immediately seen. I let them know up front menu is necessary since I'm just here for the week long 7 year anniversary special. Got First Base Burger w/fries (extra) and maple old fashioned cocktail. I had FBB before not my first time however, I changed it up by going medium-well, add cheese, and substitute chips with fries. Chef did everything that I ask burger was seasoned well tasty and flavorful. Beef patty shaped by cupping hand showing no swelling bulge to retain natural taste and shape. However, I did encountered a problem, but not a biggie was soggy bottom bun. Not sure were moisture set in from could be the lettuce or tomato after rising, or dishwasher skip a plate to dry. It didn't affect the taste or look as much just the actual physical handling present a problem. Maple old fashioned cocktail was strong had hints of maple syrup and twist of orange peel. Today was rather better than a average daily lunch would definitely consider coming back again. #uptown #outdoorseating #cozycasualsmallplace #helpfulknowledgeablestaff #happyhour #trendydiner #onthepricierside #reservationissuggestedforlunchanddinner #meteredstreetparkingbesttogetdropoff More...
