HHS does an amazing job of caring for their animals with health checks, mental/physical enrichment, and overall love. I think something not many people consider when they come to adopt is that these animals have been moving around from different homes and other shelters, so they can be stressed and will need time to adjust to their new home. The HHS animals are constantly monitored for any change in health and behavior and have daily socialization from awesome volunteers. I've adopted a cat from them and I also foster for them as well. My 50 yr old daughter (who is not cat knowledgeable) adopted 2 young male cats from HHS on 6/20/21. In my decade of volunteering at many rescues, I have NEVER seen such emaciated literally skin and bones condition except in end stage cancer and renal animals. I SUSPECT coccidia. l was born at Hinsdale Hospital. I grew up there. we adopted 3 dogs from the shelter there. My parents managed and worked at The Shoe Tree in Hinsdale for about 40 years. When I would go to work with them, I often walked to the humane society. the people that worked and volunteered there. always let me come in and pet and play with the animals.
