I love when you are out of town and find an amazing restaurant! Arepas in the name definitely caught my attention bc I know good ones are hard to come by. Service: welcoming and polite. Not the fastest but we weren't in a rush. Quality: Amazing! We had the chicken and beef arepas. Both were delicious! Can't forget the yucca fries! Only kind of fries you can reheat and they are still delicious!Price: Exceptionally fairOverall: Def will return! More...

Thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. The requests were good and a decent size each. The empanadas were also good. One with pulled chicken and the other with carne molida. I liked the carne molida better. But the main dish was the arepa and they were both delicious. I had the tuna, which was huge. The chicken and cheese was great too. Great service, clean establishment. I will eat here again for sure. More...

Hemibry was recommended to my then-fiancé (now husband) and me by our wedding venue, and we loved working with Hernan and his Hemibry staff for our wedding. We worked with Hemibry for the service aspect of our wedding - dining room set up, servers, bartenders, set up and break down for the event - basically anything that kept our guests comfortable, well-fed, and happy with a drink in their hands. When my then-fiancé (now husband) and I met with Hernan, he helped us to pick the perfect linens and dishware for our wedding. Hernan was very warm, sociable, and very responsive. When we discussed the different aspects or our wedding, the momentos we wanted included, how we wanted to display our specialty food items, our signature cocktails, and other many other things, Hernan assured us nothing was beyond his abilities. And he demonstrated just that! On the day of the wedding, the servers and bartenders looked sharp and were on their A game. The signature cocktails came out perfectly! No one waited long for drinks. The servers worked the rooms like pros. Dinner service happened smoothly. When I knocked over a vase with my fluffy dress, the water was mopped up within the blink of an eye. They made sure my husband and I, and the rest of the bridal party, ate and drank. Hernan was there the entire night making sure everything was perfect. My guests loved him and his staff. At the end of the night, everything was cleaned up, and our wedding décor was neatly packed up and ready for us to shove into our cars. Hernan and his staff took such great care of us. We highly recommend Hemibry for anyone who needs a service company for weddings or any other big event. If we host another event, we would love to call Hernan and his team to work it! More...

We used Hemibry Catering for our wedding at The Osprey's at Belmont Bay on June 15 2019 and they did a fantastic job. From the start, working with Hernan was easy and he was always so responsive to my emails. When we went for our tasting we fell in love with the food and knew it would be perfect for our wedding. They allow you to pick packages for your wedding and also allow you to add whatever special requests you want! They provided phenomenal staff (bar tenders, servers, etc.) for the day of the wedding, and have SO MANY options (colors, textures) for the linens and chargers etc. that were included in the package! We had so many complements on not only the cocktail hour but also the food for the dinner at our wedding and I would highly recommend this company, they did such a great job! More...

Called in the order in advance and it was ready by the time I stated I would be there.  Ordered my friend the Chefs special and Myself the chicken salad with avocado arepas.  My friend enjoyed everything. Of course he loves food. It was good, i just need a little more spice in my life and I'm not a fan of arepas. I've tried them from many places, they're just not for me. Visited for my second time today, this time for lunch. We ordered the breakfast (beans, carne, eggs, arepas) and 4 empanadas for $10 on Tuesdays! I have missed this place.its been sometime since my last visit but it was delicious. I ordered the two arepas with a drink for about $14. And my boyfriend ordered a Cuban sandwich. I forgot how stuffing these arepas are cuz i only finished my pabellon one. I ended up taking my other one home. My bf did notblike his sandwich one bit, so by the time we got to the car he was inhaling the chicken pabellon. The atmosphere is quite, and the bathrooms always clean. They seemed to have expanded since our last visit.  Protop: just stick with the arepas that's their specialty More...

It's rare to find a place that does arepas. My cousin had never had one before so we went here for a late lunch. There is plenty of seating; it looks like it took over the business next door for more table space. We ordered the two arepa combo each. To drink, they have tons of juices and sodas to choose from, including some Latin American ones I hadn't heard of before. I got an apple soda that reminds me of Manzana Lift or Sol.I've never had arepas STUFFED the way these were! I easily could've stuck to ordering just one had I known, especially since we ordered extra yucca and plantains as starters. One was chicken, and the other had beef, cheese, beans, and plantains. My daughter and I shared the chicken one, which fell apart in your hands if you didn't take some of the chicken stuffing out. I preferred the other one (can't remember the name), because you got a bite of savory and sweet.I took leftovers home, and they reheated really well (but I had to attack it with a fork since at that point, the arepa was crumbling). If I were in the area again, I'd definitely give it another whirl. More...

I'll preface this review with 1. I was hungry 2. I'm pregnant and 3. My husband is all about the gains. So keep that in mind. I came here on a whim with the hubby. I ordered 2 empanadas - one carne and one pabellon - and a side of yucca. Hubby ordered one carne arepas and one pabellon empanada. I didn't try the arepas, but the empanada was really good! Crispy on the outside, flavorful and pillowy on the inside. I preferred the pabellon, as the carne was a bit dry? The pabellon with the mix of beans cheese and plantains was the perfect combo of hearty with a touch of sweetness. Now remember what I prefaced this review with? Okay good. Cause we were FULL. The hubby admitted that the arepa had too much meat. Wow. I ended up finishing both my empanadas, don't get me wrong, but I was def stuffed and on the verge of food coma. We ended up taking the yucca - almost untouched - to go. It wasn't because they weren't good. They were the best yuccas I've had. The right amount of crispness. And with the mix of the white and green sauce. Amazing! We actually didn't get the green sauce at first, and only got the white and red. They were holding out on us cause the red was good, but we preferred the white and green! One suggestion/advice -- if you want to know which empanadas are which without cutting into them, id ask them to split it out in different baskets. They weren't really able to let us know which was which. Okay -- nap time! More...

Trying to find a place to go on a Sunday afternoon a friend suggested this one. At first when we got in we were a bit worried; they only had about ten tables and they were all full! The server (Hernan, but Brian also helped) quickly told us not to worry, that one big table (our's was a party of eight) was about to clear. About five minutes later we were seated! They already planning to expand to next door, and double their space. We ordered a "4 of 3 combo" (4 pieces of 3 different appetizers, tequeños/cachapas/empanadas), tostones (8 pieces to the order), and two orders of french fries; for drinks we tried some of their juices (tamarind, passion fruit, and guanabana). For main course we ordered a selection of arrepas, a Vemezuelan staple: "Pabellon", "Pelua", "Reina", and also a cuban sandwich. Everything was incredibly deliscious (of the three standard sauces on our table, the white one was a garlicky explosion of delisciousness!!). For all eight of us total was just under $200 (tax and tip included). We are definitively coming back! More...

This place is really good it has a large variety of foods to go ahead and try.  I have to admit I have never had Venezuelan food before and I was very skeptical about it but I ended up being very satisfied. My favorite part was all of the little appetizer type dishes that they carried on their menu.  The fried cheese was soooo good and moist an perfect.  I could have eaten about a thousand of them.  We tried the burgers for our main selection which were decent.  I wish they would use some different bread for the buns and the fries were nothing special.  We also got the special coffee drink they had which had some milk in it and was very creamy and good.  The ingredients were fresh and it was a lovely treat to try for the first time.  Hope to try a few more entre's when I head back the next time.  The wait time was very reasonable as well.  Good stuff. Being a latino couple the food was so important to us and Hernan and his team absolutely nailed it. It was also extremely helpful and convenient that the linens, settings, caterers, and bartenders were all included in the packages. They also had different price packages which made it very affordable. Hernan always kept in touch with us and was very accommodating on any last minute requests. Arepas Capitol is gourmet Venezuelan food in a casual setting. I always start off with the tequenos which are cheese wrapped in a flaky pastry crust and fried until golden brown. The arepas are full of meat and you won't leave hungry after eating two of these. My favorites are the pollo (chicken) and the carne (beef). Trust me. Make sure you lean over your plate before you take a bite. They are super juicy. They make three great sauces which you will find in squeeze bottles on your table. A creamy garlic sauce, a cilantro sauce and a spicy red sauce. I have never been to a place with friendlier people waiting on tables. Always smiling and they will take the time to describe anything on the menu. Only a mile from Ikea and Potomac Mills mall. More...

The service is exceptional and waiting for the food is mouth watering. Now I am a bit biased as I am in love with Arepas aka Pouposas! The way ACVR does theirs are delicious. SO NICE I ATE HERE TWICE!! If you live in Woodbridge and haven't eaten here yet, you are missing out on a great meal. If you're visiting in the area, make the drive here. It's worth it. Trust me! I was on a business trip to Woodbridge. I checked into my hotel, did a search on TripAdvisor, and saw this place was less than 3 miles from me and had a five-star rating. My first visit was for a late lunch/early dinner. I made my own arepa: Black beans, avocado, plantains. I've had many arepas. My arepa and tostones were perfect. So perfect I returned for a second meal.We had a team dinner Friday night, and had not selected a restaurant. The day before, the general manager had given us his card and said call ahead if we want to come in. My colleague in I did, and we took our team of six there. We’re extremely happy with the catering services provided by Hernan of Hemibry Catering on our wedding day! Months before our wedding, we had a tasting and discussed the food presentation, dinner table designs, and services with Hernan in several conversations. Because I myself was planning our wedding, I had many detailed questions and creative ideas in mind. Hernan exceeded our expectations with his professionalism, business savvy, and creative skills. Leading up to our wedding day, he offered very helpful suggestions to make our day special for an outside ceremony, cocktail hour, and ballroom reception. On our wedding day, we can say without a doubt that we were especially pleased with the lovely food presentation during cocktail hour and dinner. And also pleased with the very elegant tables during dinner. Because of the rain, Hernan had to make last minute changes to quickly transition the ballroom from a ceremony layout to a dinner layout and didn’t skip a beat. What a lifesaver! We received so many compliments! I guess what? It was his birthday! We saw him smiling and taking pics during the dance party. Hernan has a great personality, kind heart, and is very accommodating. We greatly appreciate that! We wish we could give Hernan more than 5 stars! Best, Katrina and Kevin Johnson More...

Worth finding. The empanadas are the star of this place. Tucked away in a boring strip mall, find your way here and order the empanadas. We had other dishes and one empanada. We wished we had ordered an entire plate of the flaky, crusted meat and potato hand pies. Seems like a family owned business where a lot of locals visit. The tres leche cake is worth getting also. If I could give a 5+ I would! My siblings and I ordered their fresh jugo de tamarindo and horchata. We ordered their grilled chicken with beans, rice and fried plantains and the salmon with fried plantains, bread, and salad. I was blown away by how fresh, flaky, and moist the salmon was. My sister, who is usually picky, was pleasantly surprised by the grilled chicken. The red sauce they put on top added a nice zesty twist to both dishes! The owner herself took our orders and waited on us. This is a wonderful local small restaurant to support! More...

This was my first time trying arepas and it was absolutely delicious! Portion sizes are humongous so you'll be sure to take some home. I ordered the pork, plantains and bean one and a chicken salad one. The latter at first sight seemed a little bland, but it was crazy delicious when I put green and red sauce all over it. Yucca fries here are some of the best I've ever had. Plantains are nothing crazy, just standard, but delicious nonetheless. I tried a bite of my friends' empanada and that was amazing as well. The only downside of dining here was the wait staff kept trying to kick us out when we were enjoying a relaxed lunch with long conversations... so we relocated to Starbucks nearby. Glad to have tried arepas capitol, I may be back next time I'm in Woodbridge again! More...

I have always been a fan of family owned restaurants that take pride in their ethnic/regional cooking and bring their own flair to  classic American staples we take for granted.  Arepas is that way... everything they serve from a 'simple' burger -  to the ceviche to the parrillas is special and unique.  Case in point... that humble burger.... if you are hungry ... try the La Guerra Burger with the works.... mushrooms, onions, ham, cheese, bacon and a fired egg.  It  is a masterpiece and a bargain at $10 with fries.  This bad boy is a meal and you will go through the napkins.  Even the simple burger patty is also not so simple ... thick and beefy with nuanced spices... You cant go wrong with any of their sandwiches.  Parrillas Mixta is like beef and chicken fajitas without the shell but the meat is uber-flavorful... it is also presented artfully. You can also get a nice glass of wine or a beer to go with the artfully crafted meal.   Really Good Place and Really Nice Folks! More...

The arepas are delicious! I've been to this location 4 times. I usually prefer take-out as the location is small. We hired Hemibry Catering & Cakes to cater our wedding on 5/30/2015, and let me tell you, it was a hit! Hernan was our point of contact from the beginning: he was responsive, professional, and delivered everything and more! The waiting staff were also great to work with, the drinks kept flowing all night! Most importantly, the food was fantastic. We had a buffet style arrangement for 120 people, and everyone (including myself) kept raving about how good the food was (especially the steak and mojito chicken....mmmmmmmmm). Hernan and Miriam embody all of the characteristics needed to make for a spectacular event. They are professional, personable, responsive, flexible and offer great suggestions if asked.

We had an entire wedding weekend and they catered every event; the wedding reception during the day, the after party at a friend's house that night and a breakfast at our home for our out of town guests the next morning. Their pricing and their food was much better than all of the other caterers we interviewed. They came into each event with all of the supplies they needed, they prepared/served the food at each event AND they interacted with our guests in a fun and playful way! They put everything back the way they found it and even mopped the floors before they left our house! AND, as if all of that wasn't enough, they gave us a beautiful wedding gift too! They are more than just caterers, They are our friends now too!

Thank you, Hernan and Miriam, for going above and beyond to make our special day our best day ever!

Visiting from San Antonio, TX. I have no clue about what's in this area, so I yelped "restaurants" and Capitol Arepas" was one, if not the first restaurant to poplulate on my list.  So I drove down to try this out. I ordered "parchita" passion fruit drink, an empanada de carne molida or seasoned ground beef and I ordered the Chef special "pabellon criollo".  I've never had Venezuelan food so I have no base for comparison. The reataurant is super clean, Service was exceptional, the owner and his family did a really excellent job of making me feel welcomed and well taken care of. I was extremely impressed by their son who was taking care of orders, serving food, addressing customers in a professional manner, its not very often you get an opportunity to see a young person doing such an outstanding job! Well done! im happy to say that Im leaving this establishment as a very satisfied customer with a VERY full belly! Hemibry Catering was one of the first vendors we chose for our wedding and we had absolutely no regrets! Hernan and his team are wonderful- they set up and took down, they helped serve, they bartended, they provided all of our linens and table ware, and they made the most delicious food ever for our event. Seriously- the food was mouth watering. Our package, which came at a great value, included appetizers during the cocktail hour, three entrees for dinner, and many different sides and salads. We received so many compliments on how good the food was. As the bride and groom, so many people told us we would not have time to eat much of our meals because we would be so busy talking and going around to people. Well my husband and I sat and ate every bit of our dinner; we were not going to miss out!
It was a pleasure working with Hernan. He goes above and beyond for his clients. He held a private tasting for us at his restaurant on his day off, he came to our venue meeting and gave us great advice on a number of different aspects of our wedding, and he was very professional, flexible, and easy to communicate with. He clearly has much experience in this business and he and his team do a phenomenal job.
We recommend Hemibry for any event, any time! They are exceptional!

Small place, located on the corner in a strip mall.  The owners are a young couple, super friendly and and very excited about their food and their business.  And, they should be!  The food was delicious!  I want to say, they knew that we were first-time customers, and they totally made us feel welcome and they really went the extra mile to be sure our food was great, right down to the presentation.  Great way to make a lifelong-customer, guys!  You got us.We ordered a variety of things, and ate "family style".   Each dish was hot and delicious.  Portions are generous.  The three sauces sitting on the table are each a unique flavor profile, savory and great accents to the food.Empanada was wonderful.  The chicken Arepas so yummy.  I tried the beef entree with salad and yuca.  Amazing tender beef.  We ordered both desserts, and as first-time customers, they arrived with an extra flourish!  So, the food was absolutely great.  We loved being fussed over.  :-) We are glad we stopped in and we will most certainly be back. We have been here about 5 times and the food here is aaaammmmazing. If they weren't so far I'd probably go more often. My boyfriend and I usually get the same thing. Their food is fresh and savory. The empanadas come out hot and we pair them with their delicious homemade sauces. They are kind of pricey but too good to miss out on. The only con about the Guerrera burger is that the bun will be destroyed within a few bites but if you don't mind a messy burger then you're in luck because it's delicious. The beef platter is good too and it's a big portion enough to fill you up! 4 of the 5 times we have visited customer service has been great, except for the second time we went and we felt completely ignored. There was an older lady taking orders and didn't seem happy to be there. When the food came it also disappointed us. We decided to give the restaurant one more chance and the food has not disappointed us ever since. The owner and his employees (which may also be family) are very friendly and attentive. We stopped in for lunch during a workday... it was our first time visiting Arepas Capitol.  We were quickly greeted and given menus.  We asked lots of questions about the menu and the lovely lady who was helping us explained the dishes, as well as her favorites. The food we ordered was outstanding!  The empanadas weren't too "doughy" like many are, especially in the smaller restaurants that don't understand the ratio of the ingredients should be equal or better than a thick, dense and flavorless crust.  The crust on these also had nice flavor and they had a decent selection of flavors.Their arepas were really good, packed with lots of meat and incredibly flavorful!  The beef was made perfectly and had incredible flavors!!  They also have a large selection of arepas. The service was friendly and very nice and the venue nicely decorated and pretty clean!  Overall, this visit far exceeded our expectations and we'll definitely be returning, especially to try their paella! This place is a gem! We went after dark so it seemed a bit sketchy but I'm glad we tried it out.  Unfortunately we couldn't dine in because of a baby that needed to go to sleep so we got everything to go.  We ordered two arepas- the chicken salad and avocado, the ground beef, and the pabellon criollo.  The arepas look small in photos but they are very hefty and one is definitely a meal within itself.  The chicken salad and avocado was a cold arepa and it's literally just that but I love me some chicken salad and avocado so I loved it-- plus when you add on the three house sauces, it's just amazing.  The ground beef was also good but I prefer shredded beef. My husband enjoyed it.  The pabellon criollo is my type of meal because it has a little bit of everything and it all tastes really good. The beans, rice, meat are all seasoned well and very flavorful-- I was especially surprised by the beans because they just look like plain black beans but they were very tasty.  Even when we took the food back to Fairfax from Woodbridge, it still tasted good.  The food is a lot heavier than what we normally eat so my only regret is I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. But I did enjoy eating leftovers the next day because that's how good it was. Trust me when I say everytime we visit Ikea, we will be going back here for more goodies. More...

The portions are generous and the prices are on the lower side. I made the mistake and wanted to try way too many things. I was used to smaller arepas and ordered a bit too much. It all came home with me. Previously, I was a casual fan of flan, but theirs made me an instant fan. Please try this out when you're in the area! More...

Excellent service, menu is like I'm in my wonderful country, taste was right, I try the pabellón criollo an iconic plate in Venezuela, my wife get the meat soup she said was super, I cook, and I could criticize this food with a lot of property, they have 5 stars with me and they don't have more because I can't put it. I recommend this restaurant to everyone,  really good job from the attention to quality  keep going your guys doing very well. Don't let it's exterior fool you--this place is amazing! We went for the first time not knowing what to expect or try. Lucky for us, this was the best news to our waitress. She took the time to explain everything on the menu and made a slew of awesome recommendations. We decided to order a few different appetizers (empanadas, tequenos, cachapas) and fried yucca. In fact, when my family found out we were going, they specifically requested (and forced us) to bring home an order of the fried yucca!Definitely worth a stop! More...

I had Arepas for the first time in NYC and was so excited when I found out we had a place here in woodbridge that makes them. My arepas are always stuffed to the max and made fresh to order. If you're in the mood to venture away from arepas the empanadas are great and the fried mozzarella sticks are delicious too. Service can be slow at times but that's a given when things are made fresh by hand in a small mom and pop place. Love it More...

We were in the area, and thanks to yelp, came across Arepas Capitol. You already know it's good when you walk in and the tiny restaurant is filled with smiling families. Service was so friendly! This was our first time trying arepas and Venezuelan style empanadas, both were brilliant. I enjoyed the lighter, crispy empanada crust. The homemade sauces on the table offered amazing flavor compliments to the food. You know you have to add that side of sliced avocado too! We were surprised at what a big portion it was for $1.50. If it hadn't been for Yelp, we would have missed this little hidden gem tucked away in the corner of the Noblewood shopping plaza in Woodbridge, VA. As other reviewers aptly note don't , you definitely don't want to judge this book (restaurant) by its cover (storefront view). Just wait until you go inside. The food was AMAZING, as was the service (a big kudos to Miriam for her recommendations, smiles, and hospitality)!! We started out our meal with a delicious arepas (filled with black beans, cheese, sweet plantains and beef) and a beef empanada. My wife also enjoyed their Jugo de parchita and a cachapa. Our entree was an equally delicious fajita style Parrilla Mar Y Tierra. We finished up with an incredible flan (so big we had to take some home!) and cafe con leche. You will have a hard time finding the place but the moment you enter the establishment you will feel like in Venezuela with Angel Falls and other oversize Venezuela countryside photos hanging on the wall and Latin Music preparing you for a Latin treat --- and a server/owner who took care of me like an older sister would do.Tequeños - no mistake there - better then any cheese sticks you may buy anywhere.Cachapa - is a sweet corn based thick crape filled with delicious white cheese.Ham and Cheese Arepa - was a biggest surprise.  The white cheese is soft and fluffy and it compliments salty ham perfectlyJuices - Parchita (passion fruit) was good but my first rendezvous with Guanabana (soursop) was amazing. Great customer service! The waitress was super sweet and recommended plenty of items for us. We both started with the passionfruit juice, which was delicious (and it's given to you in a huuuge chalice like cup!) We also shared a chicken (pollo) empanada, which was delicious. It has that home cooked, freshly made taste to it. He got the Cuban sandwich, I got the Pabellon Criolo (Venezuelan main dish) and we were both so satisfied with our meals. The Cuban was authentic - crispy bread, nice layers of ham/ pork/ cheese/ pickles. That Pabellon Criolo dish is a must have - it gives you an authentic meal with rice, beans, plantains, mini arepas, some type of shredded cheese and a delicious marinated shredded beef. SO good. Really, it was filling and delicious and our tummies were happy. I wish we had room for dessert - next time, for sure!Note: this place may be a little hard to find - it's the last store of the strip mall. This was our first time eating Venezuelan food and we liked it. I had the national dish ( pabellon criollo) and it was very versatile. It had pulled beef, rice, a fried egg, black beans and yucca. My husband had a steak that came with black beans, yucca and another side that I can't remember. The steak was served with a spicy sauce on top which he LOVED. There were also 3 sauces on the table to use with the dishes: salsa, cilantro and garlic. I thought our drinks were a bit overpriced, if I remember correctly it was $4.50 for tamarind juice/more like a soda/tea. Overall we liked it and we will go back to try some more dishes. To me it seemed to have more caribbean influences than other hispanic cuisines. Definitely worth a try, if you wanna "broaden your food horizon" More...

First of all, big thank you to Arepas Capitol for the amazing first-time Venezuelan food experience! We just cannot express how much we enjoyed dining there. Customer service at this place is unbeatable. Amazing and genuine owners and waitress. Even though we came at the busiest lunch hour, the one and only waitress, Andrea, made sure everyone was satisfied. Very glad this was the place we tried our first Venezuelan cuisine! [4 Tequeños]We started our meal with four pieces of Tequeños, which are cheese sticks whirled up with bread pastry. Imagine chewy mozzarella cheese sticks wrapped in a bread shell. We loved the chewy texture and warm salty cheese. Andrea, the waitress suggested us to eat them with their white garlic sauce. Oh boy wish they were more than four! Hernan, the owner told us these are common Venezuelan easy-to-pick-up party foods![Pabellón Criollo]You cannot say that you have eaten Venezuelan cuisine without trying Pabellón Criollo. It is a typical Venezuelan dish that is commonly cooked at home and eaten at restaurants. This dish is emblematic to the country's diverse population, representing a union of the Europeans, Africans, and Indigenous. The black beans, white rice, shredded beef, fried plantains, mini arepas, and fried egg reflect multiple colors, and seriously, they just simply taste great together! The beef was tender and we loved the garlic flavor in it. Their black beans were cooked to perfection, and the plantains just added another texture and awesomeness to this dish! Try it with their red spicy sauce if you want some excitement. My husband loved it.[Pollo Arepa]Arepas are typical Venezuelan sandwiches that are made of corn flour stuffed with meat and/or vegetables. We got the chicken arepa and were surprised by the amount of chicken that was stuffed in there! While it's almost like a burger, the shredded chicken was very juicy. Every bite of the arepa just squeezed its juices out of the sandwich, so it was kind of messy as a first-time arepa eater. The chicken was cooked with tomatoes and cilantro, perfectly seasoned. Will definitely try another flavor/meat next time! [Cachapa]As a corn lover, I fell in love with their Cachapa at first bite. Love the texture of the sweet corn on the outside of the pancake and the gooey cheese inside. This is probably one of my favorite Venezuelan dishes. The corn was sweet and was slightly burnt on the outside. It also had a very generous amount of thick cheese. Nom nom nom! I could eat this for breakfast! [Empanada] Empanadas are stuffed pastry commonly eaten in Latin American countries and in Spain. They're like gigantic fried dumplings. Ours was a shredded beef stuffed Empanada. It was made fresh and hot, and was fully packed with awesomeness - shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and maybe plantain as well? We loved how the pastry was a bit sweet, crunchy on the first bite and chewy on the inside. This is a must-try dish. It comes with various meat and stuffing options. [Fress Kolita]Fress Kolita is a bubble gum flavored Venezuelan soda loved by people of all ages. So glad we tried this too! Tastes almost like a Fanta. I preferred the juice described below while my husband was stoked with this soda! Kids would love this. [Parchita Juice]Parchita means passion fruit. Parchita juice here is one of the most popular drinks at this place. This freshly squeezed juice was very sweet and went pretty well with our food. It just added extra healthiness to our meal.We were actually amazed by the efficiency of this restaurant. Our foods came out within ten minutes despite the lunch rush. Amazing and friendly owners and waitress. Big thank you to Hernan and Andrea for their hospitality and for the delicious introduction to Venezuelan cuisine! [Parking]Plenty of parking lot spaces available in front of the restaurant. [Area]Arepas Capitol is located next to the BJ's in Woodbridge. Top of the restaurant says "Hemibry Catering" and you will see their trucks parked behind the restaurant. Hemibry is the same restaurant, just its catering business. Foods are made from the same kitchen! Potomac Mills Mall and IKEA are just within 5-10 minutes away. Stop by for a quick bite or go shopping after filling your belly! More...

I had recently been on a search to try pabellon criollo because it sounded like a dish I would really enjoy, and lucky me, after some yelp searching, I discovered  this restaurant was nearby. I realized once I arrived that they had catered an event at my job earlier this year, so I could attest to this place being a flavor paradise. It's in the name of the restaurant! Get some! The pabellon and chicken salad arepa were delicious. They're pretty large so one should fill you up pretty well but me being a hungry person, I ate one and a half. Waitress was super nice, loved her. The owners are so nice; engaged and happy to answer questions. Place is small and only seats 30 total. But really comfortable and clean. It's in a strip mall next to BJ's. There are two reasons to brave the traffic along 95 into Woodbridge from Fredericksburg or Northern Virginia: IKEA and the outlet malls.   I just discovered a third: Arepas Capitol (formerly named Hemibry Catering and Deli)Tucked away in what could barely qualify as a strip mall and invisible from the main road due to being faced perpendicularly, this is a powerhouse catering company that happens to have a hole in the wall cafe perhaps for secondary income?  Regardless of their business model, I'm just happy I don't have to plan a wedding, birthday party, or corporate event to enjoy their delicious Venezuelan food, although it might come to that if the cafe ever shuts down. The food here is unpretentious but adheres to absolute authenticity, like one would likely find in a casual street cafe in Caracas and the service is akin to a grandmother's kitchen.  Venezuelan empanadas are corn-flour based and deep fried, and the offerings here are done to perfection.  My personal favorite is the Empanada de pabellon.  Shredded beef, black beans, cheese, and sweet plantains, this hits all the right notes in terms of taste, temperature, and texture.  Having sampled arepas in various other cities, I can say wholeheartedly that the "bread" consisting of an unleavened round patty of maize flour is the best I've ever had.  Maybe it's the oven, the ratio of water to maize flour, or some closely guarded secret ingredient, but it is the fluffiest crispiest bite that pairs perfectly with any of their fillings and leaves a pleasant aftertaste leaving one wanting more.  My only complaint is that they don't have more options to complement the delicious corn patty such as pork or shrimp.   Pro tip: allow a few minutes to have the heat melt the shredded cheese for more oozy goodness.Don't forget to partake in their trinity of sauces including the red (spicy), green (cilantro), and white (garlic) for added punches of flavor.Traditional breakfast, meat platters, tostones, soups, and fresh native juices and beverages also available.  My gold standard for Venezuelan cuisine until proven otherwise. We chose Hemibry as a preferred caterer of our venue, and we are so glad we did. Hernan was incredibly accommodating; my husband and I had a brunch wedding, and not only did Hernan put together a delicious and appropriate menu for us, but was so easy about making changes to it (even at the last minute). There were times my husband and I weren't sure if we needed to touch base with Hernan to confirm details, but in reality, he was taking care of everything behind the scenes and there wasn't anything we needed to do. He and the bartending staff really took care of us during the wedding as well, always making sure that we had something to drink; Hernan even brought cafe con leche specifically to our table, because we had raved about it and he wanted to make sure we got some while we still could. We're so grateful to Hemibry for helping make our wedding day a breeze! More...

Don't judge a book by its cover, because this restaurant was amazing, though I wouldn't have known that by looking at it! We ate lunch here yesterday and ordered arepas combos as well as a side of plantains. Our waitress was friendly and humored us when we ordered, attempting to correctly pronounce each item. Service was great, our food didn't take long at all. The arepas were so big that we could only eat 1/2 of each one, yay for leftovers! I have been almost weekly since my mom and I stumbled upon them after leaving BJ's Wholesale club one day.  Would definitely recommend. More...

I know practically nothing about Venezuelan food.  I happened upon this place from Yelp. In all honesty, I probably would not have even noticed it if I were just driving by.It's been a few months since I have eaten there.  It was so good, I bookmarked the location to remember writing a review.  I don't exactly remember what I ate.  I sample a bunch of different things.  But I do know I will be back when I'm in the area again. Never ate in a Venezuelan before. I'm Hispanic so i was ready to judge this place pretty hard. The arepas were delicious . The ropa vieja dish was very tasty, the serving was on the small  side.  Its a hole a wall and each a table only sits four, so its tight.  The servers were so nice and the atmosphere was real homey. Prices were dirt cheap. More...

Great Venezuelan food loved the arepas, great service and best of all the staff was very friendly. I came in there and had the arepas combo which came with 2 arepas I had my choice of arepas. I got the pabellón, and carne was simply wonderful I will definitely be coming back. Definitely recommend people to try this restaurant! More...

Don't judge a book by its cover! This place doesn't have the best curb appeal but the food is excellent! Great for a casual date night, but definitely not ideal for more than a group of 4 since it's small inside.  I had the tilapia plate with black beans and salad and ate pretty much all of it.  Definitely come here!! I can't say enough good things about Hemibry. For me, it all starts with courtesy, responsiveness, and flexibility. Hernan knocked all three out of the park, especially with all our nit-picky requests. Always prompt to respond to questions and requests, and always with a smile! The price was perfect for our budget, and the food was worth twice that. Our guests were gushing about the dishes. We would choose them again in a heartbeat! More...

Finally made it to this place. The food was really good. I'm 6'2 and two deceivingly tiny Arepas filled me up to the brim. They stuff the Arepas to the point where it's spilling out on the sides. Great food and great people. I'll definitely be coming back! More...

The food was delicious! A little salty on the tostones but I guess with the ceviche it brings out the seasoning! The only reason why I am not giving the place 5 stars is because two of the workers sat near the kitchen area and avoided making eye contact for about two minutes until I had to say something. I wanted to walk out but I'd figure let me patronize the place since I took the drive. Finally, the older lady came over and advised me that it's "Hot and they were tired." Understandable, it is 90 degrees plus today (not to the mention the humidity) however I feel like it is unprofessional to use that as an excuse to sit there and not greet me immediately. Especially since no one else was in the restaurant. The waiter came with my order and even the order is slight confusing because it says that you get bread, rice and beans with the "Chef Specials" however apparently there are certain dishes that those three items come with. And of course I picked the one that does not, i.e. Tostones and Ceviche.  The beef empanada was delicious. The waiter gave me a free soda for the "confusion". All in all, I think I'll be back but their customer service game needs to be better the next time around. More...

Excellent lunch spot. It is a very small storefront, really small, with tables squeezed in. . They need a much bigger dining room.  . The warm cornmeal cake biscuit was the best part of the arepas, rich and crunchy edged. Except the filling which was delicious too. And the sauces were great. Mixing a bit of the green sauce with the white gave me the right amount of spice. After I got my food I was trying to figure out where they should move to do justice to their menu; Maybe over in Potomac Center, Dining Way. I'm sure if they built it where people could find it they would do wonderfully well. More...

We were searching for something different for dinner and found amazing arepas. The service was pleasant and the food tasty. We ordered a shredded chicken empanada which had a sweet crunchy crust and flavorful chicken. We also tried several of the arepas and I have to say the combination with the pabellon was mind blowing. Definitely give this place a try. It's small inside but very inviting atmosphere. More...

I stumbled upon this place by accident on a trip to the post office and then had to go back to try more menu items. Where have you been all my life?!  If I could live off of beans, rice and meat I would.  Lucky for me I don't have to make it myself AND won't put me in the poor house if I did choose that sort of lifestyle lol!  Convenient, good prices, awesome food.  I've tried every arepa they offer and the grilled chicken platter with onion and sides of plantains, salad, rice and beans.  All of the meat is seasoned well and I don't eat much red meat but when I do it's the shredded beef arepa LOL More...

I found out about this place through Yelp (ironic, no?) and all the good things people are saying about the food and the service are true.  I had three different empanadas, the chicken, the shredded beef, and the ground beef.  Delicious.  The pastry was perfect...I mean perfect.  There was hot sauce and garlic sauce in bottles on the table...the hot sauce was just the right heat, at the upper level right before it's so hot it makes you sweat.  :)  I drove an hour to try Arepas Capitol and would (will) do it again.  Service was great. This is a tiny, strip-mall eatery, so if you're looking for cloth napkins, forget it.  Some of the chair upholstery isn't great either.  But for what it is, Arepas Capitol is not to be missed. Hernan and Miriam embody all of the characteristics needed to make for a spectacular event. They are professional, personable, responsive, flexible and offer great suggestions.

The authentic food here (Venezuelan) is your best bet. We had two appetizers (empanadas and a fried cheese), both were good: fried cheese the best. My son had parella mixta grilled, by far the best of our dinner choices. His wife had a burger and I had a cubano- we were both disappointed. The sauces were unusual and overall this was a pleasant experience worth repeating - just go for the Venezuelan entrees! More...

Look out IKEA, Arepas Capitol is officially my #1 spot in Woodbridge.Located in a strip mall off of 95S, this restaurant is serving top notch Venezuelan food with a lot of love and pride. As others have mentioned, the service here is fantastic -- the servers light up when they talk about their favorite dishes and the owner is around kissing babies and greeting all the tables. If you watch the video he created on the Yelp page you will see that his background is in serving and cooking for ambassadors and embassies in the area (there is also a great framed photo of him and Hilary Clinton up in the restaurant too!).Their 'natural juices' are really homemade fruit smoothies with flavors like soursop, papaya, passionfruit and tamarind. I felt like I was on a tropical vacation as soon as I took a sip. The hubs got a cocada which is a coconut milk smoothie that was downright indulgent. On the food front, we ordered two arepas, an empanada and a parilla mixed grill plate to share. Looking back, it was way too much food but not a bite was left. I've had empanadas and arepas before at a neighborhood joint down the corner but the freshness and crispness does not equate to what you would get here. Everything was well flavored and textured. I can't wait to come back again and try more items on the menu! More...

This is one of those places that you hope will thrive despite its location in a strip mall.  The server I had on both visits was infinitely patient and nice, pointing out her favorites and what would be good for a first-timer to try.  So far, I've had arepas with shredded beef and cheese and the chicken salad and avocado version.  Both were fantastic, filling, and beautifully seasoned.  I have also tried the parilla de carne, grilled beef, and it was truly date-night-worthy food.  The fried yucca was absolutely perfect and the beef was tender, deliciously spiced, and served with fried onions, peppers, and a small side salad.  Because of the freshness and texture of the main components, I would recommend eating in instead of taking out. Don't let the location put you off--this is much better food than what you'll find in a Woodbridge chain restaurant! More...

I am so happy we chose Hemibry as our caterer. We knew from the tasting that we were going to go with this company but still went to other tastings to compare. From the initial meeting and throughout the whole planning process it was really easy to deal with Hernan. He was extremely professional and responsive. We had a big selection of foods, dessert, apps, and a coffee station as well. I was really happy to see the setup on my wedding day. Everything was setup beautifully and elegant. Everyone loved the food. I am still getting calls/txts about how delicious the food was and inquiring on what company we chose. Also during my wedding Hernan was around checking to see if there was anything we needed. The cake stand I bought was too wobbly but they had a backup that we used (phew!). We definitely recommend Hemibry to anyone looking for a good selection of tasty foods that come with excellent service. More...
