This league is filled with wonderful, kind, quirky people. I joined randomly having never played as an adult and was immediately welcomed onto my team. They've become my best friends in the Bay and the people I look forward to seeing each week. I joined GSK because I had some friends from very different groups playing already. My first team was mostly friends and coworkers I recruited and many are still playing 2 years later! GSK also connected me with many new friends and a really special new friend who is now one of my closest friends and roommate! I would highly recommend GSK! More...

I have played in 10+ rec leagues and GSK is by far the best organization I've been a part of. The owners of the league pump all the money we give into awesome stuff like extra drinks/food for everyone and the legendary end-of-season party the 'Kick-Ball' where we have a huge party at an event center or bar with a dj, more food/drinks, etc. Also they struck a deal with the city of Oakland where we're LEGALLY allowed to drink alcohol in certain areas while we play. Finally, everyone from the owners to the captains to the players are all so welcoming, friendly, and fun. I would recommend anyone to join! More...

This time last year, I moved from Boston for a fresh start. One thing that kept me active through my job hunt was GSK. My first season my teammates were very inviting and made me feel apart of a team right off the bat.

After my first season when I was on the fence if I was going to stay in the area or move back East, I thought of how many new connections and friends I made through GSK which told me to stick around. This was one of the best decisions I made to stick around.

Going into my fourth season, I'm still on the same team and my confidence has grown/social skills have gotten better adjusting to life in the Bay. Even though we are competitive with each other, it's a big family.

I have even joined another league in the city where I will become captain of a team this season and it would not have happened if I didn't make GSK my home league. I will continue to play in this amazing league which is convenient as I live in Oakland and as well as the game start times which allow me to get back to the East Bay from work in the city. Highly recommended for new transplants!

Looking forward to going to war with my teammates this season as well as becoming more social with other teams in the league! More...

Golden State Kickball is a perfect way to unwind from work on Thursday nights! With up to 10 different teams meeting every week, this is a great way to meet people. On top of games, teams can meet up at a bar after and there are a few social events each season. Players of all skill levels are welcome as long as you're willing to have fun! More...

This organization is a great way to meet fun people! There's a little bit of something for everyone (playing a sport, meeting fun people, partying, etc. ). Kickball can either be an athletic or casual endeavor - whatever you prefer. There are people who play each season of all skill levels. It's mostly about the camaraderie that you gain with your fellow kickballers. There are a lot of strong relationships that are created through kickball and it's fun each and every season. I'd heard about adult kickball leagues and looked them up when I first moved out here. I hedged on whether or not to sign up, but I am extremely happy I did. I've made some wonderful friends through the league and will be signing up again. What I like most is that it's a great balance. There are competitive players and people who haven't played any sports since elementary school. There are people drinking beers having a good time and people who bring their kids to games. All these things happen in concert without tension or problems because it's a great communal atmosphere. Bring yourself as you are and you'll be welcome. I've been part of this league since it's inception. Since my team (captained by the amazing Stretch) left a league that shall not be named, things have improved vastly. The quality of reffing and game play has kept me coming back for every single season. I truly appreciate the transparency and communication of the league owners. If I didn't have the job I have, I'd go to the bar every week (where it seems like a lot of bonding happens). I highly recommend folks to join, especially if you just moved to Oakland/The Bae Area. I just finished my 3rd season playing kickball with GSK and I've already signed up for my 4th. It's a great way to meet new people and spend time with your friends. After each game most people go to McNally's on College Ave where every player gets a free shot just for being in the league. There's also usually pizza and some games of flip cup. At the end of the season there's a single elimination tournament held on a Saturday which is basically a day long BBQ with a DJ. There are players of all skill levels so you can be as competitive as you want. You'll have fun if you're there just to socialize or if you're there to win. More...
