I have been a small business owner in the hospitality field for nine years now. Marketing/branding have never been my strong suit yet I was always aware of its importance in a business. At about year three or four I did try working with a marketing consultant and it seemed to have a small impact but I could not sustain the cost and did not have a grasp of what was actually being performed for the money--there were no guarantees, no overall arching plan (that I was made aware of) and no deliverables. I stopped using this consultant and have for years asked around to other bar/restaurant owners and other entrepreneurs if they had any experience or leads. The typical response was that at a minimum I would have to pay several thousand dollars a month to work with anyone and there is never any guarantee they provide on what work they will actually perform...to most small business owners who are fighting the make ends meet this is a scary proposition. Most of us will just not be able to justify the cost and risk.
Then about six months ago my business began to have an unhealthy trend as far as sales. After being humbled, I began getting nervous because I realized this trend would not go away on its own...there were several factor causing this, many I believe I understood--others I wasn't quite sure of since perspective can be a hard thing to realize when you are in the thick of it. After asking business owners if they new anyone, I was introduced to Gratent Branding.
Within a few minutes of my first meeting and meeting the owner for the first time, I knew this was exactly what I had been missing in my business for so many years. GB has given my business so much. First, and this might sound trite, the positive energy that the team brings from the start is amazing. Next, they worked with me from the ground level and hands on to truly understand my business. Once we were in sync, a draft marketing plan with my input was created. Marketing, it was explained is not a one time effort...it has to be adapted and adjust for a particular business; it needs to be a campaign that is monitored and adjusted as needed.
Nothing happens over night, and now at about the 5 month mark I am seeing a major, but more importantly, a sustained impact on my business. I understand and see what efforts are underway by GB and I am seeing the impact! Superior service. At our intial meeting the Gratent team listen intently and asked thoughtful questions about my ideas and aspirations for growing my commercial art and printing business. Shortly thereafter they impressively presented a 17 page marketing plan, inclusive of my ideas and their recommendations. The plan stressed tasks that could be performed now and suggested cost effective measures to put in place a few quarters later. I was most impressed with Gratent's understanding of the many variables that affect my business and how these were considered and woven into the plan.
The team always arrived on time and were well prepared with extremely professional presentations. Great follow-up as well.
