I recently looked at my past reviews and saw that the one I gave Gordon a few years back wasn't showing up, probably because it was one of the first I ever gave on yelp.  I decided to repeat it here, since I'm still enjoying my wonderful doors and windows, especially in this hot weather, the energy efficiency is a big bonus!  The 8-ft sliding door still glides easily, and all windows, too.  From 2011: Last year we began working with Gordon Reese to upgrade all of the windows and two sliding doors in our house.  We haven't done a lot of this kind of home improvement project before, so we really appreciated Gordon's help and patience as we figured out what we wanted to do and what made the most sense for our project and budget.  Gordon was great to work with, very professional and committed to making sure we were completely satisfied with the work.  Gordon's crew was also very professional and went beyond the contract to take care of some unexpected issues (the older windows were surprisingly far from square).  Even after all of the payments were received, he was happy to come back over to help with adjustments on our beautiful new French door.  I love my new doors and windows, and am pleased every time I open them.  We were so happy with Gordon's team and service that we also hired him for external repairs to our house as well.  I'd highly recommend Gordon Reese Construction for anyone needing a great contractor for home improvement or repairs. This is our second project with Gordon and his construction team. From the beginning of each project, Gordon listened to our ideas and produced a clear image of what the project would look like when complete. He did not disappoint! Gordon Reese Construction designed a beautiful bathroom remodel for our home in the San Francisco Bay area. Their excellent design helped maximize limited space, and created a spa like atmosphere that we will enjoy for years to come. The project came in on budget, and change orders were quickly processed. After multiple collaborations with Gordon Reese Construction, I have been impressed by the 3D visual tools they offer clients, as well as, their professionalism and communication skills. Our goal was to redesign the kitchen to include as many cabinets as possible and provide a lot of storage space, by only adding 80 feet under an existing roof line. The design process accomplished our goals. We had a tight budget, so we had to work together to come up with ideas to keep the cost down. After becoming empty-nesters, we decided to to do a remodel of our kitchen, but knew that we needed some direction as it seemed too overwhelming to design it on our own. Enter Gordon Reese and his fantastic team. Jeff Rexford was our designer and he came up with a vision that we never would have seen.

We took out an entire wall with fireplace and a closet so as to open the dining room to the kitchen and make it a great room. What really was the icing on the cake was Jeff suggesting we vault the kitchen ceiling to really give an open feel to the room. Wow, did it turn out incredible. Actually surpassed what we had envisioned.

Gordon brought to our job a team of dry-wallers, plumber, electricians, and painters that did an absolutely professional job with minimal dirt (they cleaned and swept every day), and did it all on budget and by the finish date that was promised.

When we began the project there were many people that we spoke with that shared absolute horror stories of their experiences with having remodel work done, but I can honestly say that yes it is an inconvenience and a disruption of your life, but Gordon actually made it an enjoyable experience through his excellent communication and problem solving skills.

We recommend that you include Gordon on your list of contractors to talk to, we are certainly glad that we did. More...

Design Consultation for a Kitchen Remodel project. Gordon Reese was wonderful! He arrived at my home on time, looked at the project, took many notes, listened to my ideas and spent an hour and a half discussing the pros, cons and City requirements for my project. I want to install a second window in my kitchen and Gordon talked with me about the number of cabinets to be removed, and the benefits of the installation. One week later, I met with Gordon again to go over costs for the project. He gave me a complete estimate - I was very satisfied with the numbers, and know that the remodel will be fantastic! After much homework and research, we hired Gordon Reese Construction to do a somewhat major renovation to our house. The work involved a complete kitchen remodel, including the conversion of a drop ceiling to a vaulted ceiling, reconfiguration of the cabinet and appliance layout, installation of new cabinets and granite countertops, and hardwood flooring. We also had Gordon remodel our family room including building a new, modern fireplace. The hardwood floors he installed in the kitchen was carried downstairs into the family room.

The project began Labor Day of 2012 and was completed by Christmas, which is an indication of the scope of the work. Gordon spent a great deal of time with us planning the work, which contributed to a very successful outcome. Gordon's staff was skilled and professional in every respect. The work was completed on time and on schedule even when we had occassional change orders. The workers thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day, which we appreciated. My wife and I were given regular progress reports and updates.

We did a lot of research before we decided on Gordon Reese Construction. Gordon was not the least expensive contractor, but his initial estimate proved to be very accurate. In short, we would strongly recommend Gordon Reese Construction based on our experience. Great work. Great people. More...

Gordon Reese construction did two remodeling jobs for me in 2012. The first was a $30K remodel of two interior bathrooms and a laundry room. The second involved the replacement of all the interior doors at approximately $10K plus some exterior structural repairs at approximately $5K.

Gordon did a thorough estimate of the scope of each project, so there were very few surprises. His workers were highly skilled. They arrived when they said they would, and they finished the job in a timely manner.

Gordon stood behind his work and did not ask for final payment until we were completely satisfied. I would highly recommend him. More...

We hired Gordon Reese construction for our Kitchen remodel after a lengthy interview process with a number of construction companies. We were impressed with Gordon and his team, their understanding of what we wanted to do as well as clearly outlining the scope of the work based on our budget. We worked with Gordon over a few weeks finalizing the scope of work and contracts and he was very responsive to my many calls, questions and clarifications. We set a start date for the project and on that date he and the project manager arrived with the crew to do a walkthrough of the project and contract to make sure we were all on the same page as we started the remodel. Over the course of the project I met often with our project manager and our lead remodeling professional to check on status, issues and solutions as we progressed with the remodel. Gordon and his team have great relationships with a number of suppliers in the local area that are Green in their building processes and my favorite was our Cabinet company (Precision Cabinet and Trim of Brentwood). Gordon was able to arrange a personal visit and tour of the cabinet companies factory and for me to meet with their local rep to review our final cabinet choices, color and options. It was a great experience and one that made the cabinet selection a breeze for this remodel. I can say that Bruce arrived to work every day on time and worked hard to meet the project deadline. He always left the workspace neat and went out of his way to be sure we had everything we needed during the project. The kitchen came out beautiful, the workmanship by our lead remodeling professional was incredible. All of our family and friends love the final result and we could not be happier. On side note, during the construction we found a “surprise” that needed to be addressed that was not related to the kitchen remodel and working with our lead remodeling professional, our project manager and Gordon we were able to address this critical fix with ease as they were able to add the scope to our project and have the lead remodeling professional address it while also working on the kitchen. That little side trip was unexpected but working with our lead remodeling professional along with a number of other folks from the Gordon Reese construction team, we were able to address the fix and not impact the overall project timeline. I highly recommend Gordon and his team for any remodel or construction project!
