WOW! Lots of awful reviews of this place. I trained here for about 3 years, and funny enough I did leave for Lifetime, but this place was a good gym for a long time for me. It did have its issues with cleanliness as most big gyms do. But equipment was regularly had maintenance done and cleaned. Towel service was taken away at some point. I never used any of the services available but it was nice to see they had so many to offer like zumba, aerobics, yoga, golds fit, and free weights. I used only machines and free weights and some basic cardio machines. I will definitely use this gym again in the future. More...

Love this location. The lay out is awesome, plenty of space, outside pool is great. I give it a 4 and not a 5 cause the sauna has a bad odor. As far as what people complain about the customer service...i scan my key tag, if I purchase a drink I'm there no more than 5 min. I'm gonna spend the next 2 hours working out. Sure a smile is nice but I'm not there for smiles. People shouldn't get butt hurt over a 10 second encounter. More...

Earlier in this New Year I had spoken to various employees including some of the admin. All were stoked about membership had increased noticeably.
I mentioned, "a lot of folks get it in their head to get back into shape as a New Years resolution!" I've been a member here for some time now and I have been able to talk to a lot of the members and learned from listening to them. I would suspect that the membership will probably drop again due to that portion of those that enrolled in the New year will stop coming because they lost the desire almost immediately.
When I read feedback from customers saying that the Personnel here or rude aloof and non-caring... I can see that happening. I know all the personnel and I have a good relationship with most of them so I could see the pleasant side of those employees. I agree with those members especially the ones that you have lost that the front desk is lacking in service to the customer. You, the general manager needs to coach them and let them fully understand that it's those customers walking through that door that pays their salary... If they are not mindful of that... Then I would have them seek employment somewhere else. It starts from the top and transcends down to those clerks that are at the front desk.
Regarding the amenities of the club... Personally, I enjoy the steam room but almost every month the system is down for a few days. So what do I do, I go out of my way to Rogers Ranch where the facilities are fantastic or the new Bulverde Road location. The locker room, I was told would get some fans in there to circulate the stagnant air... But that's not happening.
Until all the employees get on the same page providing customer service as though that one customer is the most important to them... Then I can see the eroding of the membership at this particular site. Thank you

I love that with Golds you have the flexibility to go to different sites. However I stick to Evans. I love that they put forth effort to keep the place clean. I love golds on 281 and evens rd. The management is the best they walk the floors making sure everyone is having the best experience. I’ve been a member since my sophomore year in high school. Golds employees help you understand you what you need to do to improve your workouts and how to get better. The workers take care of there members and make sure everybody is having the best experience. The Management takes care of everything that goes on very well organized and make sure the members have the best time with workouts. The management makes sure the floors and clean everything is organized and the best for members. Has everything you need to work out. My only complaint is maintenance in the gym..not bathrooms. Several machines are missing pins for the weights. Some of the machines seem to be off somehow...meaning if you normally press 100 pounds, you might have to set the weights to 150 to feel like 100. I also don't see most people wipe down the mats in the classes which is gross and I think should be announced by the instructors that everyone needs to do it. Just wish they had a better janitorial staff to keep up with the germs and wish everything was better maintained. Otherwise, I still get a good workout and do enjoy the classes as well. More...

Just getting back into shape after some very tough times resulting in some unwanted weight gain and a long recovery after ankle surgery . Sure I could go to that cheap gym that claims they don't judge.... but I want to be inspired by people. And so far I have not been disappointed. Not once have I felt judged by anyone (other than myself ) Golds has the professional and knowledgeable staff to help achieve my goals . They have taken the time to show me different modifications rather than allow me to stumble along or hurt myself trying to do the same as everyone else does. Aside from the staff being so wonderful, the people i have met in classes as well have all been friendly and encouraging. What's not to love Can't wait to see how much I improve ! More...

Since posting the place has gone down a bit. Spend 5-10 min sometimes putting up equipment that's in the way or trying to find what I need for my workout on the floor. Overall, this is a nice Gold's facility. It's got plenty of natural light, but that can lead to the upper-level being quite warm. It has a decent amount of equipment and free weights, but it is missing some crucial ones, such as a shoulder-press station. It has a lot of Hoist-brand machines which feel VERY gimmicky, because they move your body unnecessary with almost every workout. For those machines alone, this would not be my first choice of Gold's in the area. More...
