We’ve been living in this community for 7 months now and are very happy with our decision! Building staff is super friendly - a nice change from our previous NYC rental experience. Very central to everything, and amazing Space Needle views. We love being able to walk thru city center for weekend events and having lots of grass for our pup.

- Shannon, the assistant manager, is super friendly and helpful. She’s our pup’s BFF and he always pulls to her office to say hello for treats and scratches!
- Chris, the maintenance supervisor, is also very friendly and responsive. He’s always on top of our service requests and updates us. He gives awesome food recommendations too! Ronnell the porter is also very friendly and is up early to take care of the building.
- Amenities. The rooftop is nice and we like to rent out the lounge when we have guests over.
- Package locker is very convenient. No need to only pickup packages during business hours

- Parking spaces are tight and the garage has had two break ins since we’ve moved in
- McDonald’s facing side can be noisy at night. Loud Jerry Springer type drama, racing, dumpster trucks at 2am, etc

I lived in this apartment for two years. One star was given because i had a good living experience in my first year. In my second year here, the apartment changed its managing company and everything has changed since.
i once had two package shows delivered in tracking system but i never received them. when i came to the office, the manager told me they don't have them and there's nothing they could do. i should contact the seller to send me another one. that was fine... we understand sometimes packages may be lost. but what happened at the end was after two months, one of the package somehow shows up again... if residents' packages were well managed and this was not their fault at all, how could a package been missing for two months and suddenly it appeared again?
What bothered me most was what happened after we moved out from this apartment, we received an email one day saying I have some new balance on my account for water. gas, etc. We agreed upon that i will drop off the check a few days later on Saturday. However, in the following week after i already paid off the balance, I still received calls from collection agency saying my case was reported to them on the second say after they sent me the email. i assume this is how they ask for money from leaving residents? by reporting to collection agency instead of informing you first and even not let them know you've already paid that.
Not to mention i still receive light utility bill after i moved out for two months. And the issue was resolved by paying it in full by myself because the office keep saying they've contacted city light but when i called to double check the bill is still under my name.
I will not recommend this place to my friends if they are expecting a place with good management and being responsible even after you leave.

The fun and community-building touches of this apartment building that I once loved so munch under the old management (Phil and Chelsea) have all but disappeared with the new management, along with basic functionality such as a way to get our packages outside of normal business hours (which, believe it or not are often the hours I'm at work myself). What was once a place of fun events like rooftop parties, gallery shows and community tv screenings, along with fun weekly messages in the elevators, packages delivered into our unit, prompt maintenance service and an online community message board, is now a place with no personality, and limited functionality thanks to Pillar "Communities" Management, which not only doesn't host these fun events, but TOOK DOWN the existing online community website, so we don't even have a place to organize our own! The messages now posted in the elevator that are there to try to squeeze more money out of us just add insult to injury.

The building itself and the location is nice overall and is why I still tolerate living here. It's really new, well-decorated, in a walkable area and seems clean overall (besides the one night I saw a mouse run across the lobby) and I do love the common areas and the fact that we have our own washer and dryer, nice big windows and individual thermostats in the bedrooms. Do beware though that your living room will be an ice box from November to March (at least our corner unit is) because the artificial fireplace heating unit does not heat the room hardly at all and is very loud to boot, so you won't want to turn it on if you're watching TV or a movie.

Love the management here, they're super friendly, attentive and all round fun people. Chelsea and Phil are always finding creative ways to get residents together; whether it's a fitness class, brunch, pizza and vinyl evenings!

Awesome building. If you are looking for a place in the heart of Seattle, this is the spot. Live right under the space needle! The management in this building is the most attentive of any place I have ever rented. They really care about the tenants and their experience here. The building is really nice, clean and modern and they offer work / live spaces! I would recommend taking a look and seeing the place for yourself.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?

There are no secrets to taking great photographs, just a fundamental knowledge of your camera, gear, lighting, composition, color theory, post processing, editing software, user experience, client experience, management, and everything else it takes to run a business!

What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?

What is being photographed?
What is the concept?
Where will the photo be seen?
What size images are needed?
When do files need to be delivered?
What format would the client like?
What is the budget?

What do you love most about your job?

I love so many things about being a freelance commercial photographer but mostly I love being creative.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Who doesn’t want to work for themselves? I get to shoot from my live/work space and be near my family for most of the month. I often travel for work, shooting mostly in NYC.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have over 11 years experience shooting for major corporations (including Starbucks, Amazon, Target, Eddie Bauer, Filson, etc. See my website for a full client list.) and small companies alike. I shoot a range of still life including hard goods, soft goods and an emphasis on food. I shoot and retouch all of my own images and can produce/manage any shoot offered. I have my own studio on 5th Ave N. In Seattle.
