Review: Over the years, I have always done my own painting, because i am pretty particular about the work. But as I get older, I’m starting to hire some jobs out. David is now the fifth painter from the Annapolis/Kent Island area that I have used in/at my house here, and he will be the only one I use in the future. The others’ work was spotty - excellent in some places, and kind of shoddy in places they didn’t think I would check, or primer on spots and a single top coat became the ‘2 coats’ I contracted for. Mind you, I have always asked for and paid for the best quality work for my home, but seldom received it. Semi-gloss instead of satin, popped drywall seams after 6 months, and caulking as a top coat to straighten lines between white trim and dark walls. I grew up around construction, and most contractors are surprised that i notice the corners they cut. With David, you will get none of that. I check the tops of doors, prep work before painting, the use of backer rod under caulking where necessary, and an honest day’s work. David and crew recently completed an exterior job for me, and they did charge about 15-20% more than I paid for the same work 7 years ago. I wrote it off to inflation, and hired them anyway, hoping as ever before for a quality job and on-time completion. When I looked back at the time he spent versus what i paid, it was a bargain. This is pretty refreshing since I usually get overcharged because of the house and the ‘view’. I would be just as proud to show you the work they did as i am to write this review.
