Definitely, it is a perfect place to learn martial arts. The instructors are all professional and respectful. It is very difficult to be nice to everybody when the instructors are in the positions. The lessons are very challenging and serious, but still very fun! All the people in the academy are very friendly. I highly recommend this academy to literally everyone! I went in after a friend who attends global recommended them to me as I’ve practiced a few forms of marital arts in the past but haven’t stayed as focused as I used to be.

Jason and Jon are both great guys and welcomed me in. I felt very comfortable at global and took a Thursday night defense course with joe. He was super thorough with everything we did and made sure to be really careful with a past injury I’m still dealing with.

I’d highly recommend global to anyone who wants to train regardless of whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned vet who’s practiced for years. They teach multiple forms so there’s something for everyone. More...

I'm just at the end of my first month of training BJJ with Global MMA, and I can't say enough about how positive my experience has been. I'm no athlete, and at 39, I was very reticent to try such a challenging art. I was also afraid that the instructors and students might look down on me for my complete lack of skill.

But my experience has been the complete opposite. Rarely have I been to a more welcoming and warm environment. The sense of community and acceptance was a complete surprise to me. If had known that it would be such a life affirming experience, I would have started training here ten years ago.

I honestly can't say enough about the folks down at Global MMA. From the staff to the students to Cam the dog, everyone is a total sweetheart. If you're on the fence about it, come down and give it a try. They offer a free week to anyone without and contract or strings attached, so you can see for yourself. You may or may not decide to stay, but one thing I can say for sure is that everyone will be happy to see you. More...

I’m so love with Gainesville combat fitness. I just finished the 6 week challenge and lost 17Ibs. Although my percent body fat stayed the same, I believe it will decrease in time. These people are wonderful! Stopped by and no jerks around here, good training partners and friendly, healthy environment. Was recommended by some friends and definitely would stop by again! Head instructor and his wife are really down to earth people, very generous with their knowledge and aren't trying to pressure you into anything. Had many technical questions and he went out of his way to show me around and share what he knew. Extensive background and strong lineage under Relson Gracie and Drysdale, and has black belts in Brazilian JiuJitsu, traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu, and more which I can't recall. Very legitimate grappler for sure, blew my mind with little concepts and ideas, with an extensive background in wrestling. Really nice and genuine guy, and it shows with his students as well, who were all great and welcoming people. Can't say enough good things. Place was kept super clean and very tidy, and these were two different rooms and even a little gym, go take a look yourself! Working at a local a tournament, I observed his students at a local tournament and they were all very skilled for their respective levels and most importantly respectful to both the officials and their opponents. He is a coach who will back each and every one of his students, even if it means driving out several hours and spending the whole day. If you have any desire to start, this is a great place. You don't need any experience, and definitely don't need to get in shape beforehand. Martial arts get you in shape, and not the other way around. More...

Have been training here in Muay Thai for 8 months and jiu jitsu for about 1 1/2 months and all I can say is it’s a wonderful environment. The head instructor Jason is extremely knowledgeable and an excellent instructor. His wife Carly is a wonderful person as well and they sure make you feel welcome. All I can say is it feels like I’ve made another family and all the people who attend this place are awesome and super friendly. I've been doing BJJ at Global for about six weeks now. In that time, I've lost twenty pounds, tripled my stamina, and gained a sense of confidence that I've not felt before.
