This place is absolutely amazing. My wife and celebrated our anniversary here. The food is great. Our waiter,Allen, was so helpful. He even took picture of us with our dessert. Highly recommend that you try the Carpet Bagger. Also the cobbler for dessert. Great place to take your sweetheart!!!!! We will be back!!!!! More...
Never ever disappoints, I've eaten here for years, very consistently good, great service and nice people. A Raleigh staple.
Great Anniversary Date! Our Server, Allen was great. We enjoyed our meal and a very special dessert. 2 thumbs way up!!!!!!!
New menus; fresh and wonderfully prepared; my neighborhood favorite! All of the servers are delightful!
Excellent dining experience as usual. Great food and service at a fair price.
My husband and I visited Glenwood Grill to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were both delighted with the experience. Our waitress was charming, the food was phenomenal, and we were even treated to a complimentary dessert of our choice! We will definitely to back again.
Brought our 92 year old aunt to celebrate her birthday and asked for a window table when reservation was made. We had the best table, an awesome server and the host at door was extremely nice. The food was great as always. It was a very special experience! More...
We brought neighbors who had never been to Glenwood Grill. Very enjoyable evening. Food was excellent. Service is always friendly, attentive and professional. One of our favorite places to eat in Raleigh. More...
Love Glenwood. Food is always consistent. Service is good and the small outside area is very enjoyable
As usual we were greeted and treated like old friends. The wait staff are a great team working together to refill water, clear plates and get food to the table. I had the watermelon and tomato salad. It was painful to share it but I did. So delicious! I could eat that all day long. My entree was the tilefish special. Tilefish is kind of ho hum for me but it was pan sautéed nicely. The Brussels sprouts and potatoes were better. Next time I’ll go with my gut and get the salmon. It’s always a winner at GG. Can’t wait to go back! More...
Love this place. I've been there a few times. Prices are very reasonable and food quality is excellent. Service is friendly and professional. The place can get loud during lunch. Little gem in the Triangle for sure! More...
You can always count on a great meal here. It's a smaller restaurant which gives it a more intimate feel. The bar is well stocked and they offer great craft cocktails. I love it for a power lunch with a client just as much as a date night. More...

Thank you, Chris and staff, for the wonderful time and special menu for Rick’s 60th bday on Saturday evening. The food, atmosphere and service were flawless!
Always great service, food and atmosphere!
Food was amazing as always! First time there for lunch. Not at ALL disappointed! Thank you Justin for taking such great care of us!
Great menu & never disappoints!
Great service with excellent food. That’s a five star chef they have !! We are excited to go back.

The food was excellent! The staff extremely friendly and accommodating. Dessert was decadent. Overall a very satisfying night out.
Food was excellent and the service great.
Good selection of entres . Meal selection was quickly brought to the table very hot. Wait staff was friendly.
If you are in Raleigh and are looking for a fresh seafood spot to try, and try again - this is it! I have heard great things about this restaurant and am surprised that it took me this long to make my way here. Paella is my ALL TIME FAVORITE food ever, and The Glenwood Grill did not disappoint with this dish which I ordered for dinner. I travel to Charleston, South Carolina quite a bit and have had my fair share of paella there, but this is one of the first times I have had it in Raleigh. It had a kick of spice to it, very flavorful and yummy! It had salmon, mussels and shrimp with "Charleston rice." My friend ordered the daily special - which I HIGHLY suggest ordering if you go here. I had a few bites and it was incredible. It was fresh flounder with veggies over a cheese-grit concoction that was out-of-this-world! The ambiance was lovely, the staff was friendly and I hold the chef here in high regard. You can check out my reviews on Yelp for more. Bon Appétit! More...
I really love their seafood and he atmosphere!

Fantastic low country food. Everything was delicious! I will definitely go back my next time in Raleigh.

One of the best meals I’ve had. The seafood and grits is a must get
Excellent food as usual! Service was not up to par...
The food was fantastic. The crab and spinach gratin was fantastic, although servers should warn guests that it has "a kick to it" - some people can't do red pepper flakes well. The shrimp and scallops over grits was beyond divine. The desserts (Grand Mariner Creme Brulee and Bananas Foster Bread Pudding) were also beyond reproach. The service was very good. The only downside is that it was a bit loud, but it's a small restaurant and that is typically, so not really a negative. We will definitely be back. More...

This was the first real low country shrimp and grits I have encountered in several years! It was absolutely fabulous.
Glenwood Grill is a special gem with amazing food spectacular service that never fails to disappoint. The carpet bagger is my go to but I have never had anything less than perfection. If the special looks remotely like something you would like get it it will be amazing! More...
Great food, fantastic service, reasonable prices, good place for a business lunch (unless you're discussing confidential information - the tables are very close together) or lunch with your significant other. Been going for almost 20 years - my office is just up the street and I do a lot of business lunches - so I'm there at least 1-2 times a month. The food is always and consistently good, never been and left disappointed. One noteworthy thing in regards to service - I think I've had the same (fantastic) server the whole time I've been going. He "owns it", service like you almost never get in restaurants at this price point (Shrimp and Grits were $12 yesterday....). Only negatives (although I still give a glowing 5 star review) are 1-I do notice it gets a big noisy at times and 2- portions are not huge (enough for me, no complaint). But I just I attribute those two negatives to the restaurant's popularity and consider it a tradeoff for the quality, fresh ingredients and reasonable prices. It would be easy to pay double the price for the same quality food and service. Be sure to make a reservation - there is never an open table at noon! More...

Love Glenwood Grill in Raleigh! Great food! And very nice atmosphere and staff.
It was a very good meal..first time at the Glenwood Grill won’t be the last..our server John was A+...glad to be introduced through the Hayes Barton Restaurant Week...your menu for this event had wonderful choices. More...

Delicious food! Thank you so much for letting our pups dine too! Our server BRYCE was fabulous!!! We shall be back! Best creamed spinach EVER!!!

Glenwood Grill is my go-to and has been for two decades. Dozens of restaurants may open downtown or elsewhere but I keep coming back to GG. The service is unparalleled and the food is deliciously prepared. Hip, upscale vibrant atmosphere. It can get pretty loud but I love the energy. (Outdoor dining is available if quiet is what you seek). Lunch, dinner or dessert after a show -- Glenwood Grill suits my every occasion. More...
Had lunch with one of my sons today - don't get to see him as often as I would like. We always enjoy meeting at GG - food always great, atmosphere is welcoming, staff is attentive and exceedingly professional. I recommend it to everyone I know.

Great food at reasonable prices! The gentleman that served us was both courteous and helpful when finding something for us and our son to eat. Definitely worth going to and next time we're in town we'll stop in again! More...
Amazing atmosphere, service and the most amazing FOOD! Never disappointed by the menu!! A great spot to impress your friends and family!
Always a wonderful meal at this lovely restaurant. The menu changes seasonally and it never disappoints. The chef is talented and deserves more recognition. Although all of the staff is friendly and professional, our server, Ellie, makes our dining experience even more special. I can' t say enough about this place. It's a must the next time you're in Raleigh. My husband and I live in NY, but we always frequent the Glenwood Grill when we are in NC. It's that good! More...
We wanted to try someplace new for a Date Night and my wife picked an absolute winner. The night we went was the first night for a new menu. We were told there were some all-time favorites, but the like to switch it up depending on what is available. The Pimento Cheese Crab Bake was a great starter that paired well with our bottle of wine. The entrees of the Five Spiced Duck Breast and The Carpet Bagger (filet mignons and parmesan fried oysters) were both phenomenal dishes! The sticky rice/smashed potatoes and the veggies accompanying the entrees were a great addition as well. We also shared the brussels sprouts and the Beet and Goat Cheese salad were fantastic as well! Bailey's Chocolate Pie and the Fruit Cobbler were the perfect ending to the meal. We definitely didn't 'need' dessert, but they looked too good to pass up!The only thing we didn't care for was that fact that the tables and chairs were so close together. As we were having a conversation, it was quite clear that the couple next to us was paying more attention to us that to each other. The table on the other side was loud as well and it made it difficult for us to hear each other at times. We will definitely go back, but maybe ask for a quieter corner. More...
Not your normal grill. At dinner, we didn't find any pizza, or sandwiches, or other mainstays of the grill. What you get is (I guess) what the chef/owner likes. So, lots of exotics (joke) like creamed corn and creamed spinach and brussel sprouts. Fairly limited menu. Decent wine list with fair prices. But what we did get was well prepared. I had grilled scallops, arugula salad and those brussel sprouts. This was more like home cooking done right--lots of old folks this night so maybe the kind of food they like. Very strange wall decorations, which I asked about and still don't understand, other than that it has been there form many years. More...
First time to the Glenwood Grill and we were not disappointed. All the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Good reasonably priced wine list and friendly wait staff.
We have been to all the 4 and 5 star restaurants in the Raleigh area, and none are better and most not nearly as good as the Glenwood Grill. It does not get the recognition it deserves. Chef John Wright never misses! Unlike many chefs who move from restaurant to restaurant, he has been at Glenwood for close to 20 years. His employees are loyal, and many of them have been working with Chef Wright for years. He is the most approachable and "down to earth" chef we've ever met. His cooking is consistent and yet innovative. His pairing of entrees and sides always complement each other, and his sauces and seasonings are perfection. The menu offers many options and substitutions. Did I mention, we live approximately 2 hours from Raleigh and frequently take trips to Raleigh just to eat at Glenwood Grill. More...
Amazing! Favorite restaurant in Raleigh!
Glenwood Grill delivered another spectacular meal. If you're a lamb addict like me, go now! to enjoy the Crusted Rack of Lamb -- some of the tastiest lamb chops I've ever had, despite trying them everywhere including Paris FR & Mesa Grill. The GG standard Carpet Bagger, roasted pepper soup du jour, and apple crisp (with cinnamon gelato) were all beyond delicious. A special highlight was our new young server (can't remember his name, but recall his saying he was in his early 20s). His enthusiasm for the cuisine encouraged us to try things other than our usual dishes and we were delighted with his recommendations. More...
This restaurant has remained consistently outstanding over a long period of time. The menu is innovative and the food is wonderful. It can be a bit cramped depending on where you are sitting, but that is a small price to pay for such a great dining experience. More...
Love the service and the food was fabulous, as always.
51 anniversary - excellent as usual
Great food, always, every time we go. The servers are terrific and professional. Angelina was our serve this time and she is excellent, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The host is always professional and helpful, never gets upset. The bar is also very good and with great bartenders. Highly recommend the entree called carpetbagger if you want the best, tastiest steak you have ever had. More...
We have not been to the Glenwood Grill for many years. We were able to get a last minute reservation for Valentine's Day and were seated right away when we walked in. All of the wait staff were wonderful, very attentive but not overbearing. The acoustics are such that you are able to have conversation at a normal level and you don't hear what is being said at the next table either. They had a special menu for Valentine's Day. We both got Filet Mignon, my wife alacarte and I got it with fried oysters as part of the Carpet Bagger. Everything was cooked perfectly! We could not have asked for anything better. The steak just melted in our mouths and was cooked to perfection! The fried oysters were really great as well. We had a desert that we shared and we walked out very satisfied. The price was great for the quality of the meal and the service. We were in and out in an hour, but we didn't feel rushed. It was a wonderful evening! More...
Absolutely wonderful night with family. Food was outstanding and service was great too!
This place is amazing and wait staff are very friendly. Food was also excellent at
First time diner here. Food was great, prices are fairly reasonable. It's a small restaurant, tables are very close but many restaurants in Raleigh are like this. Very loud also, not a romantic setting but a fun, vibrant atmosphere. We enjoyed our meals very much. Would definitely return. More...

Cozy, a little loud, great service, terrific food. Oysters are awesome. Could not hear our party of five at times, but overall a nice gathering place.
Glenwood is always a great choice. Food, ambiance and service are consistent and excellent.

Love Glenwood Grill. I went out of my way to visit while In Raleigh. It was worth it. Great atmosphere and even greater food. I highly recommend the Glenwood Grill Burger. More...
My wife and I have been patrons at Glenwood Grill for many years. Each time we go back we feel the food is excellent and we recommend it to all our friends especially for special occasions.
Still doing reliably good job of providing an interesting menu and ambiance, Glennwood Grill is a good choice for the inside the beltline professionals lunch only if not in a rush.
Never disappointing! We continually choose Glenwood Grill when entertaining others. On this Triple Birthday celebration we also wanted a restaurant suitable for young children. Everyone was happy with the food especially the Green Fried Tomatoes, Beet and Squash Salad and Beef Short Ribs. The kids loved their hamburger but the mashed potatoes were very bland. Our guests raved about the Shrimp, Scallops and Grits. The only misses were the Fried Oysters and Crab Cakes - neither tasted fresh and were mushy rather than crisp. Our waitress surprised us with candles on every dessert. The noise was terrible as we could hardly hear each other. More...
I had the roasted chicken pecan salad for lunch; it was very good with quite a nice presentation. Coffee was above average for restaurant coffee. The waiter was pleasant, prompt, obviously knew his job very well. The only thing that was less than excellent was that the noise level was a bit high for quiet conversation; however, the noise level was considerably better than many other restaurants. Definitely recommend this restaurant for good food, service and a very pleasant atmosphere. More...
Always a great experience. Glenwood Grill has great food, knowledgeable and friendly servers, and a fun atmosphere. We've been dining here for 20+ years and hope it will be there for 20 more.
Dinner was fantastic. We started of with the She Crap Soup and it was out of this world. I had the Shrimp and grits to follow. The shrimp were huge and the grits had the right amount of grits to sauce ratio. More...
We had an excellent dining experience. Food and service were both great. Creative menu with lots to choose from.
One of my favorite Raleigh restaurants. Service is ALWAYS excellent. Wine list is great. Food? Wonderful. The menu is not overwhelming, but has a great mix of gourmet items and a fabulous a la carte menu. I call it a hidden gem because it is tucked away in the back of a strip mall off of Glenwood Ave, but worth finding. The name would make you think it's some type of sandwich shop. Boy, are you in for a pleasant surprise. Tip: Get a reservation. The place is packed from 5pm - 8:30-ish. I have never had a problem walking in without a reservation if you don't mind eating a late diner (after 8:30pm) More...
Great food, great chef, and always outstanding service. It is always a treat to enjoy dinner at the Glenwood Grill

This was our first time dining here and we could not have been more pleased. Everything was superb. We will definitely be back.
One of our favorites when we are back in town. Awesome as always!
We had delicious meals. She crab soup always excellent. The salmon was cooked just right (not dry or overcooked). I do have a problem with the noise level...way to loud. Tables are close together and if there is a large group it creates more difficulty to have good conversation. More...
We visit on a regular basis. We have always been satisfied. A neighborhood gem. A good choice.
Great service (Alan) and food was amazing. Make a reservation in advance as it's a busy place-for good reason! Greeted with smiles and southern charm from start to finish. Highly recommend!

I had the shrimp & grits which was wonderful. My date had the salmon, yumm. I'd highly recommend it!
Wonderful experience with delicious food and first class service.
I have been here a few times for lunch with my wife. What we have had has been very good, the crab soup is a staple for my wife when we go. I have tried both the Gumbo and Shrimp and Grits to name a few and always been very happy with our food. The food can be a little slow which is my only negative, probably just due to how busy they are for lunch though. Reservations are definitely recommended. More...
