This is one great place, it's on monument circle..its by the slice and it's a very roomy place..we stopped in on a Friday. .it was busy but not crazy busy..we ordered two slices of pizza and 4 breadsticks with two cheeses and one drink.. Giorgio's reminds me of the small pizza places in New York City where you walk in, order at the counter, and sit down with your slice and a few friends. Situated right off of Monument Circle, Giorgio's is a perfect place to stop in if you're craving pizza but don't want to spend too much time or money on your meal. The pizzas and calzones are already prepared and displayed through glass for you to choose from. Once you've chosen, they stick your choice in their oven for a minute or two and *voila* you're in business! As far as pizza is concerned, they don't have anything too crazy. It's mostly your basic meats and cheeses, plus some eggplant, and the occasional buffalo or bbq chicken. My pizza was pretty good, but I wished that the taste of my Margherita was, simply put, more present.  The restaurant isn't flashy or fancy, but the staff is welcoming and is always willing to give suggestions. If you take a moment, put the phone away, and engage with those around you. You might actually get the pleasure of meeting someone like Giorgio. I ventured in for a slice of pie on Saturday night after a shoot downtown and did just that. He was behind the counter and greeted me with a warm smile and a boisterous "Welcome to Giorgios!" While waiting for my food Giorgio took a moment to introduce himself. They have been in this same location for 29 years. I enjoyed one of the best slices of pizza I've had in Indy. Stopped into town at an Airbnb, ordered some pizza, you know how it is. Online ordering was a little vague so I called the store, and the extremely nice man on the other end explained the whole menu in detail. Ordered it over the phone, came in 30-40 minutes.I travel a lot and I eat a lot of pizza all around the US, I've had it from all the usual famous places in Chicago and Philly and NYC, and everything between.This damn pizza was incredible. I got a stuffed pizza with sausage and chicken (chicken was a slight upcharge, no biggie).Crust was perfectly cooked, and the top crust was slightly different - more a pie crust than a pizza crust, golden brown and flaky. Perfect sauce to cheese to ingredients ratio, no greasy goo on your hands (they got the moisture content of the cheese just right) and...man it was a great pizza. 16" fed three adults and there were a couple slices left over.And the Cannolis...oh my the Cannolis. So many times (even from well-known bakeries) it's basically bland sweet icing in a puff pastry, too sweet and no depth; these...THESE were Cannolis. The shell had the texture almost of a handmade empanada, crunchy but still a little to chew on and it didn't crack apart and leave you holding a mess...slight cinnamon flavor and a light dusting of powdered sugar.The filling was just perfect. Custardy, warm, good salt content, not too sweet, and occasional little bombs of decent chocolate chips. I love handmade desserts but they are often made to what I guess is the "decadent American" palate - two bites and you're sick of the sweetness. Where have I been al this time?  Oh yeah, DRIVING right past this every time.  Today I was walking and stumbled across this gem.  No frills, animated and friendly staff. This is your classic pizzeria straight out of NYC. I've eaten here quite literally more than 50 times, usually before Pacers games. I have had virtually everything on the menu. Virtually everything is good. The pizza is NY style. They don't have tons of different specialty pizzas like at Bazbeaux or Jockamo do. It's pretty much cheese, pepperoni, sausage or supreme. There might be one with alfredo sauce on it, I'm not sure, I've never had it. They have Sicilian as well. The hot and cold subs are very good. The Giorgio Special is what I would recommend, it's your basic tasty Italian sub. The meatball sub is also a particular favorite. They do salads well, including a special that's similar to an antipasto. They have a bunch of different calzones and strombolis. And they have pastas, including ziti, lasagna and spaghetti with meatballs. All the pastas come with garlic bread, which is a nice touch. So it's very good, particularly for a counter restaurant that doesn't have any table service. Also, Giorgio himself is usually there and is very friendly. He will try to get to know you and chat if you seem like you're willing.The negatives are pretty inconsequential (for me at least). The pasta is not fresh - it's boiled earlier in the day and kept in a big Tupperware-style container. When you order it, they throw it in a colander and put it up in hot water in a sink-looking contraption. It makes the sauce watery, especially the marinara on the spaghetti. Second, a couple of the employees over the years have been kind of jerks. I watched one in particular as he cussed out Giorgio at the counter one evening. He's one of those guys who feels like he needs to rib people and needle them and be a smartass, and when he crosses a line he acts surprised and says he's kidding, insinuating that you're the one at fault for being overly sensitive. Whatever. I'm just here for the pizza.All in all, it's not food that will knock your socks off, but it's good, it's reasonably affordable for a restaurant right off Monument Circle and it's consistent. You go to Giorgio's, you always know what you'll get. You should come by, and you should definitely go to a Pacers game when you do. More...

This place is great!  NY pizza by the slice AND Sicilian style, too!  Just had a slice of Sicilian (cheese) and ate outside taking in the scenery by the Soldier's and Sailor's Monument.  Very pleasant.  And great service, too, from all the guys.I would definitely return here to get my fix of NY pizza.  Lots of choices here.  I know, I know, Barbeaux, haven't  tried it yet.  Nor Pizzeria Di Tito, which is also supposed to be good.  But I really like this place and with only limited time in Indy, I can't see straying from here.  That's how much I enjoyed my slice.  Plus I have to try the regular slice too.  That's it, I've decided.  Coming back tomorrow for the regular NY slice.Oh and the fountain drinks - very good, just the right mixture of carbonation and syrup.  Definite thumbs up for this place. Needed a pizza fix that was nearby my work, found Giorgio's! The only reason I didn't give 5-stars is because Goodfellas is still my favorite for cheap, great tasting pizza (plus an amazing lunch deal). Giorgio's didn't disappoint, and the options for pizza were great. I had a slice of pepperoni with a couple breadsticks. I've been walking past Giorgio's regularly for several years; however, this Monday was the first time I finally decided to stop in. My fiancé and I were walking and discussing what we wanted for dinner and then the smell hit us. We instantly knew that we wanted pizza. So we stopped in and were instantly greeted by the super friendly staff. The prices are pretty decent and they always have awesome specials. Not to mention, this is true New York style pizza, which I much prefer to saucier, heavier Chicago style. So if you like cheese, you'll love this pizza. Giorgio's is a great break from chain pizza joints and a rare find downtown where chains and high-priced restaurants dominate the market. Great ziti and garlic bread! As of this writing, Yelp shows a 3.5 rating for Georgio's which is absolutely ludicrous if you ask me. I give 5 stars to help raise it, and another 5 due to them being the best around at what they do. This place is an Indianapolis gem, an under-sung staple of downtown. The original purveyors of downtown Indy pizza by the slice, Georgio's is the spot where nobody is a stranger, service is classically kind, witty, and warm. This place is dear to my heart as you can tell. Being a fellow italian and amateur pizza maker, I vouch that their pizza is delicious. Being a vegetarian, a pizza maker has to be especially good to make pizza taste delicious to me. Georgio's excels at New York style, they have classic and even square. I usually opt for a slice of stuffed veggie, it comes with a side cup of sauce thats perfect. Their broccoli calzone is the best I've had anywhere. I love Giorgio's. I've been going here for years. Since I'm from Jersey, I love a good, cheesy, drippy NY slice of pizza. It's the closest thing to NY pizza I will get, in the Midwest . YES AND YES. Ordered Giorgio's for carry-out on a Friday night and it was ready in 15 minutes when we arrived. This pizza is bomb! ! If you're looking for NY style pizza by the slice this is the place to go. Food is fresh and they reheat the slices for you. The crust is nice and thin with a little crispness to it. Tasty pizza although not going to be the same caliber of places like Napolese or what not. Also, I find it a bit pricey per slice at 4-4.50 per slice. Big slices, but still that seems a tad steep. I have nothing but love for Giorgio's as a take-out and dine-in pizza joint. They are the best New York style slice you can find in Indy! My absolute favorite pizza is the eggplant special which has sauce, cheese, a few dabs of fresh mozzarella per slice, fresh basil leaves, and sautéed slices of eggplant. You can actually order it as a takeout pizza too, which is fantastic. The staff can seem a little rough around the edges at first interaction, but they are just trying to be efficient and will definitely warm up to you as you continue to come in and eat delicious pizza.
