How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
It depends on what you are converting the garage to, but generally speaking a garage can make a good space to convert to general living space. There are some simple tricks and designs that make it look like the original design. Some questions to consider: Is the foundation sound? Does your HVAC have enough capacity to tie into the existing system? Does your electrical panel have room for more circuits? What type of design are you looking for? Is your contractor licensed, bonded and insured and do they have a list of references to back up their claims?

First design with your contractor what you want the finished space to look like. Then discuss budget and what items you'd like to keep or remove from the renovation. Consider the interior elevations, rooms, finishes, and decorating. Consider the exterior elevations and designs.
During this process a payment for working capital can be secured and permitting can begin while we continue to work on the a final budget and design. After permitting, we launch into demo, structural changes, framing, rough electrical, plumbing and HVAC. Then windows, doors, cladding. Then rough building inspections. Followed by insulation install and inspection. Drywall install and inspection. Trim, paint, finished, fixtures and final inspections. Pretty simple!
