My review is only on service and atmosphere because I did not order food. This café is super duper cute. We stopped in to kill some time before dinner. We all just ordered coffee and tea. We also busted out some cards and played war for a good 40 mins or so. The little café has amazing looking desserts. I regret not getting any but I wasn't very hungry and didn't want to ruin my appetite for dinner. Service was great. The waitress behind the counter and the one that took our orders were very nice. Now, they did forget 1 of our orders but it was okay. We told them at the end and they just took it off our tab. I also got my free iced tea! By the door there is a guest book that you can sign which is an amazing idea. I will be back if I'm ever back in town. I must try the tiramisu :) More...

I just recently returned to gathering grounds after I heard they had added new menu options. I just tried one out of some of their new options and what I tried was delicious! As always their drink options were phenomenal and well crafted. Whether you want a delicious coffee drink or an amazing smoothie they take time to make them. The food itself was made from fresh quality ingredients and made with care. The atmosphere is extremely laid back and relaxing, the perfect place to go with friends or a book. Would gladly make this a spot to frequent. More...

We stopped by for a late lunch, food was good, service was decent, but man of man, dessert was amazing. We split a simple cocoa ute, chocolate chip, pecan, and oat cookie (which they heated) with a caramel latte. Stop what you're doing and go here to get a cookie and coffee. You won't regret it. Really quaint, cozy eatery. Food was too notch. Service fast and friendly. I ordered the breakfast wrap and it did not disappoint. A lot of care is taken in the food preparation. Fresh and delicious. All the pastries looked so good I couldn't decide on which one to get so I got 3 of them.....delicious!Has outdoor, pet-friendly eating accommodations when the weather is 60 degrees or above. Free 'Pupaccinos' for the fur babies. The atmosphere is casual and the decor is charming with many different seating options. Check this place out if you're in Luray. More...

Maaaan, this was great. Staff was friendly and the restaurant location is pretty cool with it being right on main street. I branched out and got one of the local favorites, the Monaco sandwich, even though I'm not really an Italian-cold cuts kinda girl, and boy was I very pleasantly surprised ! The meats were great and flavorful, the foccacia was extremely soft and tasty (in fact, I would have been pleased to just eat the foccacia on its own), and the black pepper mayo was wonderful! My husband got the footlong hotdog, and he said that he enjoyed it which is pretty good cuz he's a bit of a hotdog snob generally. Definitely worth a visit! More...

Our gracious B&B host in Luray made us breakfast this morning, but fiancé and I were too hungover to enjoy his homemade French toast at 8am; instead, our host suggested Gathering Grounds for an early lunch. What a lovely recommendation! Although service was slow (we got to the cafe at 11am, when it opened, and they were already at half capacity full!), the food was well worth the wait. We started off with coffees and water. After an hour, we were given our orders of tomato basil soup, a side Caesar salad, and a breakfast bagel with sausage and cheese. While totally basic, these were the exact meals we needed to replenish our seriously deprived and sleepy bodies. Tomato basil soup was chunky, fresh, and not overwhelmingly creamy. Caesar had no hint of anchovies, tg! Fiancé's breakfast bagel was gone within a few blinks of the eye. Coffee was refilled quickly, too. Perfect.By the time we headed out around 1230pm, there was a waiting line that roped around the cafe! I'm glad we got in before the Sunday lunch crowd so we could enjoy a fulfilling meal that would keep us full for our 2 hour car ride! Next time, we're trying the lemon and/or peanut butter pies! Only regret was we were too full! More...

We hosted a rehearsal dinner at Gathering Grounds last night that was absolutely fabulous. The staff was incredibly patient while we rearranged the tables in our section to accommodate our party of 30. Two waitresses worked our tables so that they could get us taken care of as smoothly as possible. They even happily took an order from a late arriving guest. The food was wonderful, fresh and delicious and the atmosphere was perfect for our group. I am very pleased with our decision to have the dinner there. Most of the guests in our group had dessert and the pie did not disappoint. Their pies are so delicious that we are actually having them served for dessert at the wedding. If you're in Luray Gathering Grounds is place you must visit! More...

Gathering Grounds was a nice lunch after visiting the Caverns. I had the Marseille, which was a solid French dip. Not mind blowing, but as tasty as you'd hope a French dip to be. The fries, though, are fantastic. They're thin, but flat and wide. It makes the perfect crispness. The atmosphere is nice. It has a country cottage feel, though not overly chintzy. I also appreciate the selection of sides available on the kids menu. My friends and I also shared a brownie, which was tender and fudgy, and a chocolate torte cake thing that was rich, but not heavy--a tricky but great balance. I live 40 minutes away, but I'm already planning my next day trip to Luray, where I plan on getting lunch at Gathering Ground. More...

Cute place. Went on a Sunday..long wait and slow service. Food was very good. Several sandwich options ... soup was delicious. We got the Turkey cobb sandwich on pretzel bun with onion rings .. Turkey rice soup. .. chocolate chess pie was very good.We came to the area for the gorgeous mountain scenery... but as foodie came prepared to grade on a curve for food options. So far we have been blessed to find really good food. The speed of the service has universally been slower than would be acceptable at home ... mountain version of island time. I dont say this to be critical.. just the opposite... relax your on vacation. If your a local then .. i guess your used to it. + More...

Love this charming spot . Definitely Great for breakfast and lunch ... and what's nice is doggies are welcome here too . Both of my pups had their first puppicino! Also, the coffee here I feel is the best in town ... and the chai latte is sooooo good !!! It is highly recommended. As for lunch dishes we had the turkey Cobb sandwich, chicken salad sandwich(the Avignon), Versailles chicken wrap, and the Mediterranean wrap with added chicken. For breakfast I enjoyed the avocado toast and the breakfast wrap. As for the bake goods and the cinnamon roll is money !!!!! Soo good and not too sweet . We also had a great carrot cake . If I'm back , I will definitely try out the bar which looks to be well curated. As for decor , it has a homey feel with a collection of Knick knacks that makes this place feel welcoming and quite a neighborhood spot.Stop by y'all and enjoy More...

Stopped in for a late lunch after touring the caverns. The 4.5 average stars lived up to the rating. Enjoyed a half sandwich and salad. The turkey was real carved meat, not deli slices. Fresh greens in the salad. Also ordered fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Super delicious! With a cornmeal breading. Topped off my meal with a vanilla latte. Service was friendly. Cute and cozy atmosphere with lovely decorations. More...
