OK, Francesca's Tavola (Arlington Heights) was already our favorite local special occasion restaurant. But on New Year's Eve, they outdid themselves. We chose from the special New Year's Eve menu and were mightily rewarded. The crab cake appetizer was really exceptional. Fussy about our crabcakes as former residents of the Chesapeake Bay region, we were pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the crab, the serving size (plenty for two of us), and the richness of the corn relish that covered the cakes. My entree was the lobster cappellacci ("little hats") pasta. I'd never had cappellacci before, but it's my new favorite. It was perfectly al dente and substantial and chewy in the mouth. The tomato cream sauce with saffron and shrimp accents was to die for. We lucked out and were served by our favorite, Julio, who was outstanding as usual. The unexpected highlight, though, occurred as we were leaving. It seems that one of the parking lot attendants had to leave to deal with an emergency, so who was out there in the cold helping get us into our cars? The manager. When we first started going to FT, I assumed that the manager was actually the owner, so attentive and friendly he was. Later, I found out that FT is part of a local chain and that he manages this site. He always goes above and beyond to help each diner feel welcome and appreciated. Dinner was amazing as usual. Started with the 3 cheese bruschetta. So good. Then had the rigatoni with veggies. Server was amazing as we were in no rush and she just kept checking in on us to make sure we were okay.

Every one enjoyed their meal from lobster over linguini to sea bass to chicken marsala. Theadora, our server was very attentive. One comment we all have is the limited memu. No beef or veal on the menu nor the traditional "parmesian" dishes. plus we.had at ask for the chicken marsala. More...

So far my most favorite Italian restaurant, I have never seen such amazing service at such full restaurant. They are so caring and passionate about their customers and they wanna give them a real taste of Italian food, the food was great spicy and tasty and I would definitely come here again.

I love the food here. The flavors are wonderful. It's a perfect place for a date or enjoying a nice dinner with your family. My favorite thing on their menu is the Pollo Arrosto alla Romana. The lemon and chicken is incredible! Their creme bruleé is excellent, too. We had a Super Tuscan with dinner last night that we will order from now on.
