It is hard to put into words just what the people that comprise Forte Fitness have done for me. I can remember being 19 years-old and being nearly 300 lbs., on the “fast track” to a half-lived life. I was afraid of the gym, avoidant of real physical exertion, and I was ashamed when I looked at myself in the mirror and I wouldn’t face my situation for what it was: I had never really embraced any fitness in my life. I remember the day I decided that something had to be done; the day my 42” pants no longer fit. It was June of 2014. I’d heard about Forte (under a different name, but the same management) from a friend, who told me that it was a non-judgmental environment with friendly staff. It sounded like the right type of place, what with me being afraid of exerting myself physically around others, especially in a gym-like environment. My friend’s words, I discovered, rang true. I met Kyle Johnston (the then manager of Forte) who talked me through the process and answered any and every question I had, all with a smile on his face. From the beginning, I was placed with a trainer who knew anatomically what needed to be done to get me to where I wanted to be, through both physical and nutritional education. Over the months, I came in and sweat it out, never once having any doubt(s) that the people working with me didn’t know what they were doing. I would stay at Forte for a few months. I had started my journey…To make a long story short, I ended up coming back to Forte in August of 2018, nearly 4 years later. In that time I had my own up-and-down’s along my journey: I’d sporadically put on weight and taken it off, put on muscle and then let it atrophy, changed my diet only to end up putting junk fuel back into my body’s engine, and I’d seen the hills and valleys of my own mind when it came to changing just who I was. I’d had hundreds of personal training sessions, met dozens of various gym staff members, and gotten a lot of perspective on my situation. I knew this would be the last time, that a permanent change had to take place if this was going to last. I came back to Forte because, after all those gyms and various trainers, after all those years, I remembered the people at Forte… And I remember how they treated me… I lost 80 lbs. in less than 70 sessions. I can remember the day it started, too. Russ, my trainer, pulled me aside -- when I thought that I was cursed, when I didn’t know just what I was going to do with myself – and took the time to help me realize that changing one’s body is about much, much more than just what is physical, than what is corporeal. Never once did he ever doubt me, never once did he ever say that I couldn’t do this or that I couldn’t do that, and never once did he ever stop trying to help me become the person I am supposed to be…. I would liken very similar statements to every single person I’ve dealt with at Forte. I have met and been among truly great human beings, people who bring out the best in one another and in themselves. Day in, day out these individuals show up, faces grinning & eyes brilliant, seeking out to help others in any way they can… And I am very fortunate to call these some of these people my friends now. There is no place or group of people that I would rather expel my blood, sweat, or build upon with. All of this in a little spot, a couple of rooms, down by the riverside…If you’re asking yourself if this is worth it, it is. Few endeavors in life are worth the sacrifices and pain that accompany something like changing one’s mind and one’s body. You will be in pain, you will be in doubt, and you will want to quit. I have enjoyed working out at Forte the last 6 months. I have a chronic medical condition which makes it difficult to find exercises that don't aggravate my condition. Group classes are impossible even the beginner ones. I interviewed several trainers and visited different gyms before Forte but none seemed knowledgeable about appropriate exercise intensity for people with limitations. Russ is an exceptional trainer with in depth knowledge about body mechanics. He has been incredibly patient and is able to modify my workouts when I am have a bad day physically. My mobility and strength are much improved and I have been able to do everyday activities with less pain! Forte does a great job matching you with a trainer who will help you accomplish your goals. I was visiting Chattanooga last week and booked a session at Forte with Danielle. I like to try other personal trainers when I travel. I was very impressed with the intake process and the quality of attention I received. Danielle gave me a killer workout and really tailored the session to my very specific needs and limitations. The setup was private, allowing me to focus without distractions. And she made the workout fun! I sought out Forte Fitness because I had gotten a little too sedentary, and I needed some motivation. I wasn't interested at all in a big gym and the atmosphere that can come along with it. Forte was perfect for me because not only is it one-on-one training, but it's set up so you have privacy with individual rooms. All of the trainers there are beyond qualified, and there is a style of training available that will suit you. But I have to say, I was so happy with Meredith and Chad. Because of my ever changing schedule, I would train with either one or the other. They will push you, but just the right amount, so you won't dread going back. And you will achieve the results you went in wanting. I have been working out at Forte Fitness for over a year now and it has been the best gym experience I have ever had. The staff really care about you not only as a client but also as a person. Everyone is so friendly, and the atmosphere is so different from other gyms I have been to. The trainers are very knowledgeable and very open to working with your individual needs and wants. I have been working with Ryan for a year and I am now capable of doing things I never thought possible when I started my fitness journey. I told him when we started working together that I wanted to focus on improving my balance. He went above and beyond teaching me skills I would have never thought to try. It has even fueled my desire to learn more and explore new areas of fitness. I have reached so many goals with Ryan's help. A year on I am able to do hand balancing techniques like the crow pose and the dragon pistol. My flexibility and strength have improved dramatically and I am now able to do back bends and spider crawls. I have also lost twenty five pounds and have never felt or been more healthy in my life. Every session is fun and enjoyable thanks to Ryan's positive attitude and encouragement. I began working out with Branden Fain approximately 1 yr ago. I started with 2 sessions a week and in the past few months have transitioned to 3 sessions a week. His workouts are always the right amount of challenging, the right amount of sweat, and the right amount of fun. I've been working out with Branden Fain, of Forte Fitness, for about two months or so and have really enjoyed it. I am very focused on advanced, competitive tennis and the winter indoor season (on hard courts) is usually very hard on my knees and back/shoulders. Branden has tailored my workouts to help with these problems areas, as well as to address the major muscle groups, particularly core. I've been playing tennis better and harder with less soreness and feel more fit. He does a very good job of motivating me but also making sure I do each exercise properly, with correct form, to avoid injury. I really enjoyed the facilities in the Volunteer building. This place is private and personal. Always very clean and organized. I told my trainer Branden Fain what my goals were and he tailored my workouts to get the job done. He is very knowledgeable about what movements are needed to attain the goals you've set. He was very helpful when I wanted to know proper form compared to other ways I've done some of the movements. Branden always made me feel comfortable and made sure I was getting a good workout without injuring myself. I would highly recommend Forte to anyone needing one on one training. After having the worst physical ever I started working out with Ryan Hutchinson at Forte in late Nov. 2016. Even with several two week vacations since then, I have made wonderful progress with mobility, strength and cardio activities. Ryan met me where I was and we have consistently worked toward my goals of lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar, and overall better fitness and health.While my 6 month follow-up with my internist isn't until May, I did have my annual visit with the allergist where my blood pressure was 104/74! Even with meds it had never been better than 120/80. Can't wait to see what my internist says! New goals are in the works for me and I can't imagine working any place other than Forte. After breaking my ankle and completing physical therapy, I wanted to work with a personal trainer to stabilize my ankle more before going back into a gym by myself. I had several sessions with a few different trainers at Forte and they were all wonderful. They kept detailed notes, and every time I came in the trainer knew exactly what I had worked on the session before and where to pick up. Everyone was aware of my injury and my goals with rehabilitating my ankle, and I left Forte feeling stronger, more stable and definitely more confident than when I started there. In just a few weeks with Chad, I've seen measurable improvements in core strength, balance, and I'm simply motivated. I've been training at Forte for a little over a year and my attitude about exercise has changed dramatically. I never thought I would look forward to working out, but I do now. I came to Forte as a non-athletic person who had never been involved in sports or any type of weight training. I also started at Forte after a period of no exercise at all for nearly 6 months so the idea of starting from square one was pretty intimidating. Forte and the staff there have made it just the opposite.My trainer JJ is the best! He has taken the time to get to know me- he knows when to push me harder and when it's too much. I know he's not going to let me be lazy, but I also trust that I'm not going to be injured or hurt during a workout. I appreciate that he holds me accountable and challenges me to do things I never thought possible. He is encouraging on my worst days, patient when I get discouraged, and somehow always manages to get me back on track. I cannot say enough great things about Forte Fitness. After a quite serious medical problem in 2005, I have regained mobility, endurance, flexibility, and strength from the workouts done three times per week. The trainers are absolutely the very best in Chattanooga. All exercises in each session are selectively chosen just for the client. They know what you can do. They know what you need. Evaluations are accomplished at intervals so progress is monitored relative to stated goals. Exercises for all sessions are recorded along with progress. I could not be happier with Forte. I just completed a 12 week training session and highly recommend Forte and its trainers. I came to Forte as an occasional "worker-outer". I occasionally ran, occasionally did yoga, occasionally lifted weights, occasionally did random group classes at the Y. I was looking to add some structure and discipline to my fitness and felt the accountability of working with a trainer would help me. And it did. There were definitely mornings when I did not want to go or when I had 5 million other things I felt I should be doing instead. But I made myself show up and always left feeling really glad I did. Forte is an extremely supportive environment. Kyle -- the manager -- was always there with helpful bits of advice and encouragement (without ever coming across judge-y). JJ -- one of the trainers -- was good at pushing me just past my comfort zone so that I left the sessions feeling strong and accomplished. Really, every trainer I worked with was awesome, each with their own style and approach to working out. I ended the 12 weeks physically stronger (visible muscles!!), with improved cardio (my resting heart rate dropped 10 beats) and way more knowledge about weight training and overall fitness than I started with.This is a great group of people with the highest standards of professionalism. The staff at Forte have been amazing. I had a serious surgery and came to them shortly after being released from my doctors and a walker! After years of not taking care of myself to stay in shape, my first goal was to gain strength and stamina. Numerous reasons went into selecting Forte- but the number one reason I chose Forte over others was I felt secure that my trainers knew what they were doing and could keep me from hurting myself while still pushing for progress. They can easily make modifications for your needs - in my case not doing any moves that cause dizziness.When you walk in the door there is nothing intimidating- everyone speaks to you by name they joke around and keep it fun while still getting down to business. When I first started at Forte Fitness, I had just been released from Physical Therapy for my back. Kyle helped me to work on an individualized plan to further stabilize my injury so that I could be released to look for work and meet personal fitness goals and a dream to scuba dive. Improving my quality of life and regaining my fitness were my primary goals. I felt as much as I had invested in healthcare, it was time to invest in my fitness and health as preventative. Jody Smith was my personal trainer initially when I started and he truly helped make some amazing strides in a short amount of time. I communicated my goals and then helped give a baseline and knew he would be very knowledgeable in doing what it takes to get me there. Over time, Darron, Jason, Matt, Jackie, Melissa and Ana Marie also started working with me. Darron and Jason picked up where Jody had left off after I had a couple small setbacks. Every person I have worked out with have been extremely encouraging and motivational. They have shown me things I didn't realize I was capable of doing but was willing to try. I learned something from each person whether it be nutritional tips, and exercise form. Darron and Jason really took the lead on making a car wreck be a minor setback rather than a major one. Each person had a different workout routine so different areas were always worked and the routines were never dull. Even on the days that were difficult to get there to get started, I always left glad that I have come. Kyle provided continuous motivation as well as everyone there including their other clients. Many who provided much inspiration in their personal stories. Sometimes it is the people that God places in your path that are a true blessing. I would like to take a moment to give my highest recommendations to the entire Team at Forte Fitness. The entire staff have been friendly, professional and motivating every day I have been there. The facility is well maintained and clean. The 1-on-1 training provides an individualized plan specific for you. The sessions are well planned and the routines are always different. I'm clumsy and have never had much luck with coordination. One of the reasons I chose Forte was the limited amount of people that would see me make an idiot of myself. I am not new to "working out" but this is my first experience with personal training...WOW- wish I had found this earlier!! Forte Fitness has figured this out. They have an awesome facility with a vast array of workout equipment for all needs. The most unique part though is the quality of the trainers that they have working for them. I train with Jaqueline and Daron. Jaqueline knows the problem areas of women and really tailors the workouts to focus on that. Make no mistake, she is just as tough as any male trainer! I started training in the spring of 2013 and my life has been changed ever since! I remember getting on the scale and weighing over 200 lbs at 23 and feeling like a complete failure. It didn't matter what job I had, who I hung out with, who I dated, the lack of confidence in myself and the feeling of being a failure was always in the forefront of my mind. I had tried all the diets and exercise plans, none of them lasted very long which only contributed to the feeling of being a failure. Then I started training 3 times a week. It was (and still is) a huge financial commitment but I find that the investment in myself rather than the extra things like stuff, trips, etc. is so worth it and I don't regret it at all. Over time, I began to look forward to coming to the gym, to have the feeling of success after a good workout and to see the people that workout/train during my time slot. Over time, you get to know the trainers and the people that workout around you. It's a great feeling at the end of the day to walk in and see a friendly face that genuinely cares about not only you, but your goals. Matthew Walters is my trainer and he has stuck with me through the times I wanted to give up and walk away from health. He holds me accountable and pushes me to accomplish things I never thought were possible. When I fall off my diet or get discouraged he is patient with me until I get back on track and always encourages me to keep going. I no longer define myself as a failure or look in the mirror and hate what I see. I see a 25 year old woman who hasn't given up and is a work in progress. I have confidence because I know am working towards being healthy and fit.I've lost over 40 pounds since I started training with Matthew and have about 30 more to go. The staff at Forte Fitness have been a life saver for me. They have helped me regain strength from shoulder and back surgery. They guided me to better nutrition and have helped me reduce my heart rate at rest from 98 bpm to 62 bpm. Exercising at Forte Fitness has helped me reduce my stress level from work also. I am in better shape and healthier now at 49 than I was in my 30’s. I could not have done it without the help and guidance of the staff at Forte Fitness. The personal attention and private training area helped me overcome my uneasiness of working out again after so many years. I've been going to Forte Fitness for a few months now. It's my second time training with the folks there. I'm a repeat customer because the experience is highly rewarding, especially for someone like me who lacks the drive to tackle getting back into shape on my own. If you're in the same boat, save yourself wasted time and frustration and give them a call.

I would especially like to compliment my current trainer Luke Bowling. During my time at Forte I've been able to work with several trainers—all great—but Luke is truly exceptional at what he does. I appreciate his attention to detail and how meticulous he is when it comes to understanding my strengths and weaknesses and helping me get the most out of my time at Forte.
