My granddaughter's 18th birthday party was held there on October 27, 2019. Sophie was our waitress. We invited 40 people and most came. She was attentive, polite and made herself available. The restaurant was already great for the location. They allowed us to bring in our own decorations, and we ordered mostly appetizers for the guests. It was a great time for all of us. Good Food & Great (clean) atmosphere..If looking for a place to have a small gathering I'd suggest it.Just be sure to have your space & agreement in writing. I attended a party where they switched up the agreed upon space/agreement when they'd arrived to decorate which I found kind of messed up. Nice place to catch a lunch or dinner. I had the salmon salad and it was delicious. The salad was topped with pecans, strawberries, & blue cheese along with the salmon on the side. There was also this sharp tasting brown zesty dressing to add to the salad that brought it out making it taste unique yet yummy. My spinach dip appetizer was really good too! We had not been to Fire Water for quite awhile as its quality had declined while its prices had risen. We were initially concerned as the place is a little run down inside; my friend was seated on a banquette with torn leather. The table itself was also in disarray with salt spilled all over the place. And the evening started off poorly as my first two choices for a bottle of wine were not in stock. Still, our server was quite accommodating and then the food was spectacular. My friend had both the crab cake and mussel appetizers, while I had a beautifully presented bruschetta and a perfectly done filet mignon. This place is expensive by Charlotte standards and very expensive for University City. But we felt that it was worth it in the end.
