Our experience with Events by Emily Kay was wonderful! Both Emily and Alana brought a calming presence to our planning process, and their local knowledge was indispensable since we were planning from NYC and don’t have family in New Mexico. Emily was our three-months-out manager and Alana worked on the decor and was the day of coordinator, since Emily had another wedding that weekend. We had already done a lot of research and design work, but Emily helped us wrangle our scattered ideas into a plan. Alana helped us execute the plan, as well as planning and executing all of our florals herself (ordered the flowers wholesale and she did the arrangements)! We were able to fully enjoy our wedding day without worrying at all about setup, coordinating vendors or deliveries, or any other logistics!

During the planning process, we had some issues with our venue and Emily fully resolved them so we didn’t have to have the awkward/confrontational conversations. She also helped us get in touch with some vendors who we were having a hard time reaching. She already personally knew most of our vendors, which helped make the coordination run smoothly. Alana brought a “make it work” attitude to the week leading up to our wedding. For example, we decided the week of the wedding that we would need a keyboard for our ceremony, and she immediately researched and found us one we could rent at a great price. Both Emily and Alana were very accessible by phone, text and email throughout the process and were a pleasure to work with. At first we were unsure if we were going to hire a planner, but we’re so glad we did! As soon as we had hired them, we felt so much calmer knowing Emily and Alana would take care of some of the more overwhelming or confusing organizational tasks. Emily is one of those gems you didn’t expect to find, and then when you finally get it, you can’t imagine your life without it. All I knew when I was planning this wedding is that I had friends in the industry that would also double as vendors. Emily took my modge-podge of friends and ideas and made everything come to life. She is detailed, organized, and very serious about the Bride and Groom enjoying themselves and having fun on the big day! She had no problem letting me know it was time for her to take over and I am so thankful she did! I had the most gorgeous wedding because Emily was so caring of my vision and how I wanted it executed. In 1 short year, Emily has become a huge asset to my business.  I run a wedding venue and a catering company, so I value working with pros who are organized and dependable.  I confidently recommend her to clients over and over because she really is such a rare combination; down to earth, kind, warm, humble, super organized, and so hard working.  Emily will not let details slip through the cracks, but she's not uptight either.  She's very good at maintaining calm in potentially tense circumstances, and she can be commanding when necessary.  She also does that thing that really good planners/coordinators do which is that you never really realize how much she's doing because it all just seems to happen effortlessly.  If you want to enjoy your wedding knowing all is in good hands - hire Emily Kay! This girl is amazing!!!! Planning any event is not easy! It takes time, patience, endurance, understanding, and more patience! ! Emily Kay makes it look so simple. I was the DJ for a wedding in DTLA on 10/6/18 at Unique Space! Everything was simply beautiful!!! From the linens, the settings, and every detail that went into it, it transformed a warehouse looking location into something that came out straight from a movie!! On the day of my wedding, Emily was a dream come true. She had all my decor laid out throughout the venue how I had envisioned, she made sure all my vendors were on time, she helped my bridal party get ready, she helped my husband and I and our vendors keep to our timeline, and she was simply the sweetest and kindest individual to work with! My wedding day was the best day of my life, and it was executed exactly as I had hoped for thanks to Emily! When I first signed my contract my venue asked if I wanted to hire a day of coordinator. My friends who had recently been married said to definitely hire one, so I thought it would be better to go with my venue's coordinator instead of someone else. A few weeks later at our tasting we met a lady who was suppose to be our coordinator, NOT EMILY, when I asked her some questions about what she would be helping us with, it seemed like she wasn't going to be doing much. She said I should ask some family friends to put my decor around the venue, and that she wouldn't be at the rehearsal so to have a friend run it. I left the tasting was confused as to what exactly she was going to do and feeling overwhelmed that I was going to have to find people to help me the day of my wedding. Fast forward to two months before my wedding, I got an email from Emily that she was going to be my coordinator. When I saw her email with the attachments and detailed questions I was so relieved that I was now going to be working with her instead of the original coordinator. Emily sent me a few forms to fill out that included all the decor I would be bringing, the names and contact numbers for all my vendors, important vip contact numbers, and a google folder to put my signed contract and invoices. I was so happy that I wasn't going to be the one worrying about my vendors on the day of the wedding. The day I met Emily she had a binder with all my information in it. She asked me some questions that I hadn't even thought about, and made sure I wasn't feeling overwhelmed or stressed. My husband who is a director of banquets and has met many many wedding planners was also impressed by her attention to detail.  I left that meeting feeling like everything was going to be okay, and that I was being taken care of.  Later that week Emily sent an email to all my vendors and helped organize my day of timeline. I had worked on that timeline on my own for months, getting everyone's time frame to work was very challenging, so when Emily said she would take care of the timeline and send the final one to all my vendors I couldn't have been happier! She took a ton of work off my shoulders, so that I could focus on enjoying my last few days before the big day.On the day of my wedding, Emily was a dream come true. Holy smokes, where do I begin? Let me put it this way; my wedding theme was basically EMILY IS A GODSEND. I can't even begin to tell you everything she did for my wedding behind the scenes, because I probably don't even know or can even comprehend. My husband and I decided, when we first got engaged, that we wanted to do most everything as cheaply as we could except for a wedding planner. We knew right away we wanted to budget Emily in as a top priority. I had been to several of Emily's weddings, and I could see how hard she worked, and heard all the brides singing her praises. And it was 110% worth it. About two weeks before the wedding we had what could have been a potentially big disaster and almost lost our venue site, but Emily remained calm and handled the whole situation firmly and with much more grace than I would have (and she got our venue site back!). The day of the wedding, our photographers told me they loved working with Emily because she always had her weddings' timelines down to an art. My husband and I even had time between the ceremony and the reception to steal a few moments together. I felt like Emily had a firm grasp of our wedding's vision and budget, and was able to execute the whole wedding under budget but more beautiful than I could have imagined! My mother, mother-in-law, and maids of honor were able to help me with the fun things like centerpieces, and didn't have to worry about the million little details that come with planning a wedding. On the day of the wedding, I didn't have hundreds of people running up to me with minor problems or questions, Emily took care of all of that. And best of all, Emily is a really fun, sweet, and genuine person who is just a blast to work with! There are not enough words to describe my time with Emily. She thinks of everything, takes on every role, and never lets you worry. Emily made my every desire happen, she kept everyone calm, and she connected me to the best vendors imaginable. Our photographer (who we hired prior to meeting Emily) fell through at the last minute, and she wasted no time helping us replace that person. She immediately had names, numbers and quotes ready. She went to every meeting without question. The day of the wedding my dress ripped during photos and she and our new photographer (who she recommended to us) got on their hands and knees and had it fixed in less than two minutes. Every person was accounted for and versed on everything. She had schedules typed up for each individual in the bridal party. She knew what time everything was arriving. All things that you don't want to worry about on your wedding day- she worried about for us. On the day of the wedding, even though she had a million things to do, Emily made herself available to be with me while I was getting ready, coffee in hand when she got to my parents' house at 7:45. All I had to do that day was show up and marry my best friend. Emily became a very valuable friend to me during this time, and I am very sad that the wedding is over because it inevitable means we will not be talking all day every day as we were while the wedding approached. Emily is amazing! We got married at a state park, and we knew we needed someone to help us coordinate the day. Not only was she AWESOME on the day-of, she was super helpful leading up to the day, too. She did a site visit with us and helped us map out our layout, coordinated our vendors leading up to the day and was available to answer a bunch of questions that came up throughout the planning process. On the day of, our outdoor wedding was nearly rained out - it poured until about 5 minutes before our ceremony. Emily went to Plan B and then to Plan C to give us the day we wanted. Emily is amazing! She made my wedding day a breeze and allowed me to focus on the things that mattered to me while handling all of the little details. She immediately put me at ease. She is intuitive, trustworthy, and adaptable. When the wrong size table was delivered, she retrieved the appropriate item for me in Albuquerque and drove it to Santa Fe. Certainly not in her job description... she went above and beyond! I had surgery on my foot a few months prior to the wedding and this left several things up in the air- how long I would be able to stand, if I could do a first dance, how long I could stand for photos. Emily was flexible and we played it by ear... it worked out perfectly. We wed on private property as the sun set. Emily cleaned post event in the dark. When we returned to the site a few days later, everything was pristine. How she managed to clean the space flawlessly in the dark is a mystery to me. Thank you Emily for making my big day perfection! Emily was great! I was faced with planning a wedding in New Mexico (at my parents house) from D.C. It was very important to me to make sure that my parents wouldn't be "hosting" the wedding despite it being at their house, and it became clear quickly that we would need some guidance (or a lot! ) in the planning process (of over a year). And Emily was there every step of the way. She answered every text, email, Facebook chat, FaceTime call, and was supportive every time. She even did a number of house visits, working closely with my parents when I wasn't there. Did I mention this was for over a year? In the end, Emily delivered. She executed our vision, and made my our special day happen without any major hiccups (at least that I was aware of and/or didn't end up loving - like when the lights and music cut out while everyone was dancing because we plugged in the ice cream truck! Still makes me laugh! ). Most importantly, my husband and I had a fabulous time with our friends and family and it was in large part because of Emily. Emily is a dream come true. I am a total control freak and have a hard time letting anybody do anything, but Emily rose to every single occasion! She made my dream wedding possible in less than three months. Working with Emily was more like working with a friend or a family member, she always made me feel taken care of and considered. Emily is on top of it. She handled situations perfectly, even my nearly impossible to deal with father. Whenever possible, Emily helped us save money by knowing the ins and outs of creating a spectacular wedding and event. When working with Emily you get way more than what you pay for. I was originally concerned that Emily would not be able to handle the amount of tasks and appointments that I would need to set up because of my short engagement. However, Emily came through in every way possible and then some. I can not speak highly enough of Emily Sallach! It was only by her help that my wedding was... literally... the PERFECT wedding! (Seriously.) My wedding may have been the first I've ever experienced where... nothing went wrong! Emily went way beyond the "extra mile" in making my daughter's wedding and reception an event beyond our dreams and expectations. She thought ahead in every necessary detail specific to our desires for a simple, outdoor, country wedding, and a bit-more-complicated barn reception requiring a lot of navigation for various vendors/helpers. I'm not sure how to write this review so that you will understand just how invaluable Emily's services are. We hired her for the entire wrdding planning, but you can also just hire her for "day of" services if desired (at least as of the time of this writing). We were totly unconvinced that we needed a wedding planner at all. Suffice it to say, we did. She helped so much every step of the way! It made the week of the wedding much less stressful. And the day of the wedding? I didn't stress at all, and I'm a major worrier. Everything was handled. Everything was going to be handled. By that time, 11 months after we had started working with Emily, we knew her well enough that we knew she had it down. I didn't have to ask or think about which vendors had arrived. I didn't have to think about how we were going to get the decor and gifts home. I didn't have to think about taking care of my mother's antique silver cake knife that she let us borrow because I knew Emily would take good care of it and everything else. She came to us several times during the night and asked if we needed food, drink, etc. The bride and groom never get food because they are always too busy, right? WRONG. We would never be able to say enough about Emily in order to fully describe how invaluable she was to us and our wedding! Emily did an outstanding job and surpassed all of our expectations ! She was available for us any time of the day or week and made sure we met face to face enough times to make us both feel comfortable with the wedding planning and process. She always offered great suggestions but made sure that the end decision was completely up to us.
The-day-of went very smoothly because of her efforts. When we encountered a few bumps, she solved the issues quickly and made sure we noticed nothing. I hired Emily to help plan and organize my daughter's wedding. My daughter and her fiancé were in CA and we were holding the wedding in NM, for about 100. Emily took great care of us - she sat down with us first to understand what my daughter and her fiancé wanted in terms of size, look, feel, budget, etc. She did all the leg work by contacting venues, caterer, officiants, etc. and summarized all the relevant information for us to then decide which ones we wanted to contact and/or visit. This was a huge help and saved us tons of time. Emily always accompanied us on the visits and made sure the wedding vendors funneled all details through her, rather than bombarding us with emails, questions, etc. This truly helped keep all the information straight. Once the big decisions were made Emily documented all details and then created a proposed schedule for the big event (we held the wedding and reception in one location). She coordinated even the smallest of details, such as getting a wireless microphone and picking up vases for centerpieces. She was on hand before, during and after the wedding festivities to manage logistics, oversee all details and keep things moving. She and her assistant used wireless radios to stay in contact, which reduced the amount of running back and forth! Emily even acted as our emcee for "the Newlywed Game" that we played! Overall, hiring Emily was money well spent.
