Selecting a DJ:
We knew from the outset of wedding planning that we wanted to use a wedding DJ as opposed to a band. After working through a few recommendations from our wedding planner, Bouquets and Bowties, we had narrowed our choice down to 2-3 DJs in the Charleston area. Nick responded within minutes of us indicating our interest on the EPIC website and reached out to us to schedule a 30 minute intro call.
The intro call was helpful in determining if we would be a good fit, and Nick was able to offer an overview of all of their offerings, helpful tools for planning your music selections, and pricing.
An Easy Planning Process:
Once we had selected Nick, he presented us with an easy-to-read timeline sheet that allowed us to easily indicate our preferences for how we wanted the night to run. Selecting music for cocktail hour, dinner hour, and dancing was an absolute breeze.
About a month out from our wedding, Nick reached out to schedule a review call to go over our music selections and timeline preferences, which allowed us to rest easy before the big day knowing that all of our first dance songs, introductions etc. were in place for the big day.
An Unforgettable Wedding Day:
On our actual wedding day, we couldn’t have asked for better service. Nick showed up super early to the venue (before we even left for the church) to set up. He made a strong effort to play all of our requested songs and stuck to the timeline we had laid out. We also had the photo booth add-on which was a fun activity for people during the cocktail hour. People were on the dance floor the whole night!
Summary:
Again, we were so happy with the service and professionalism shown to us by Nick and EPIC Charleston. Looking back, we wouldn’t change a thing about the music at our wedding and would recommend Nick and EPIC to anyone who is looking for a stress-free wedding day and night that will have everyone on the dance floor!

Nick from EPIC was the perfect DJ for our wedding! My wife and I had specific requests and unique songs we wanted played for both our ceremony and our reception and Nick exceeded all expectations! Nick even went so far as to personally mix two VERY different songs for my wife's dance with her brother and it turned out GREAT. For planning purposes, Nick has a great form you fill out prior to the wedding (and it sparked great conversation between my wife and I and covers everything from the beginning when people are first walking into the ceremony, to the last song played at the end of the night). During the wedding, Nick followed through with all of our requests (while refraining from playing the songs we did not want). Epic was amazing to work with! From the minute I reached out through the very last song at our wedding they were top notch. Nick was awesome! Our guests didn't leave the dance floor and ended the night chanting "one more song" because they didn't want the music to stop. Our wedding day/night with Nick from EPIC was truly epic! My husband and I are from Maryland and we had our wedding at the Isle of Palms. I did not get the chance to meet Nick in person before the wedding but he spent the time getting to know me very well on the phone. Epic is amazing! From the beginning, Nick was super easy to work with and made the entire experience stress free. As a personal fan of details, I appreciate someone who focuses on the small ones and executes them flawlessly. Nick gave us everything we ask of and then more. Throughout the night, it was amazing to see him transition from different genres to keep every single person (despite age) happy and on the dance floor. Watching my friends and grandmother dance to the same songs all night show that the DJ is doing his job the right way. My wife and I hired Nick and his company for his DJ and Video services for our wedding(s). I say weddings because we tasked Nick with assisting on our Thursday Indian wedding and Friday American wedding. Both he and Kevin were first class, and knocked it out of the park. I can't even believe the other review Epic Charleston has. Our experience with them was COMPLETELY opposite! We could not have loved DJ Nick more. He was responsive, so polite, personable, and everyone loved him - we've been married a little over two weeks and I am still getting compliments on how great the DJ was. Nick overcame all of my fears of hiring a "wedding DJ" and I will recommend him to everyone planning a wedding in Charleston! We chose him because he had the highest ratings online and we were blown away with his level of service. His DJ set-up is discreet, professional and does not detract from the look of the event. We hired Nick as our DJ through EPIC Charleston, we also decided to go with a photo booth and extra lightning and it was the best decision.
I was skeptical of only talking to one DJ for our wedding, but after our wedding, boy was I wrong, Nick truly exceed my expectations. He reads the crowd and plays the music he knows everyone will dance too. He went by my requested song list and did not ignore it. I do not think anyone was sitting after dinner. Nick had the entire room on their feet and on the dance floor.
The photo booth was a HUGE hit as well. Everyone loved it. My husband and I can now look back on our wedding day and see how much fun our guest had. I highly recommend Nick for your wedding DJ. He was awesome!

Nick does an awesome job on transitioning all of the songs and keeping people on the dance floor. It's not like a typical DJ at all, most DJ's just play a song at a time, like an ipod almost. What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
The secret to keeping a dance party going all night long is variety. Having a great variety of music for all kinds of different age groups on the dance floor. It’s also important to maintain good energy throughout the whole event. If that’s an upbeat cocktail hour or laid back dinner everything you play will add up to wither or not guests want to get out on the dance floor when the official dancing begins.
Pro Tip: Don’t forget to match the atmosphere of the venue your performing at with the music ex. Beach setting vs. Black Tie event.
How would you describe your ‘style’?
As for my style, I am what is called a mix DJ. I mix music live throughout the evening to keep the energy up and everyone dancing. I want to know about all the music you’re excited to hear and I'm happy to mix in requests from friends and family too.
When it comes to requests I have a great filter and will only play the best/most appropriate request to keep your guest on the dance floor.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is that every event is unique. Each wedding and private event that I DJ has a different mix of people and age ranges. The cool part is that you can pick up new mixes and songs that you hadn’t considered playing before and begin using them at future events. You are always meeting new people and finding great music and that is what is so exciting about DJing.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I began to DJ and clubs and bars as a hobby on the weekends, I was asked to do a wedding and after that, I got completely drawn into the wedding world. Due to the demand I decided to quit my job in 2012 and have been a Full-Time Professional DJ ever since, personally performing at over 500 Weddings and Events.
I love using my experience to help couples with any questions they have on making their wedding day better. Sharing my knowledge of weddings and what I do keeps me going and I’m happy to share my experience with you too!
