This place is amazing. Great outdoor environment and wait staff did a great job. Was in town for two nights and both nights went to Empire State South instead of exploring other restaurants. My boyfriend made reservations before a date at the Fox Theater. Due to Atlanta traffic we were running late. When he called to inform them, they offered to inform the kitchen to rush our orders so we wouldn't be late for our show at the Fox. It worked out perfect. Empire State South has always been on my list and I've had the pleasure of visiting them twice in the past year. The menu does rotate regularly based on what's in season and for the most part, all dishes are great, but there are some stand-out favorites.

Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. The reason I am not giving Empire State South 5 starts is because I felt the portion size for the price was small. I left pretty hungry and had a 3 course meal. Barely any meat on the chicken, even though the taste was great. Great vibe; great people. The folks working the bar have an excellent knowledge of what you might like to drink (if you have no idea! ). Our server was very sweet and happy to explain the menu to us. We had some yummy cocktails (Bisou Bisou and Ask Alice), which are draft cocktails that they make in house. We ended up eating a dinner that consisted of all small plates! There were so many unique ones we wanted to try, that we couldn't pick just one or two! Must try: pickled shrimp, beets (yummy yogurty dressing was a great addition), farm egg (crispy rice was super unique!), and bokchoy (lamb bacon was interesting and new). The popcorn was also great, but a bit too salty. Skip: the greens. They were a bit watery and I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a soupy salad or cooked greens, but I wasn't a huge fan. Love this place! Great vibe, fantastic service, outstanding food! We went for Sunday Brunch and each meal was prepared beautifully. The Breakfast is definitely one of my favorites! It's definitely a great southern experience. A little pricey, but I'd say it's worth it!
