Fine dining in a fine setting. Food is delicious and tastefully prepared. Abundant selection of drinks to go with unique dishes.
Recommended by my hotel for "good Southern food". Food was insane. So tasty. Great craft beers too!
Absolutely fabulous southern cuisine. One of my favorite places to dine in the ATL!
Cozy restaurant. Pimento cheese and bacon marmalade...what else?
Great place to hang out with friends and even family. Lots of drinks available here would recommend to everyone. This place was an absolute good time if you had experienced coming here!
Alexander Peralta Diaz
Great place, great flavor.
Nice venue with Southern Style meals and a good cocktail list. Was really busy on a Tuesday night so I take that as a good sign
Delicious food, lovely decor, but the waiter wasn’t great.
I love this restaurant. All of my experiences have been excellent from start to finish. Every cocktail, appetizer, and entrée I've had was delicious and better than I imagined they would be. The staff is friendly. The wait is reasonable. It's one of the best restaurants I've visited in Atlanta. More...
Excellent, inventive food!
Great food and neighborhood location
This place is amazing. Great outdoor environment and wait staff did a great job. Was in town for two nights and both nights went to Empire State South instead of exploring other restaurants. The Farm Egg was delicious and easily the best thing I had. The jars or jam were also amazing. If you are in the neighborhood make sure to visit. You won’t regret it! More...
Cocktails will cost you a bit, but great for a summer evening with friends.
Holy cow - the crispy rice is EVERYTHING.

Great food, small portions. Very nice friendly staff
We tried a little bit of each course on the menu. Everything was fantastic. The wine and the cocktails were paired beautifully. The staff was knowledgeable and the chef amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone or go back any time. More...
My boyfriend made reservations before a date at the Fox Theater. Due to Atlanta traffic we were running late. When he called to inform them, they offered to inform the kitchen to rush our orders so we wouldn't be late for our show at the Fox. It worked out perfect. We had a nice dinner and made to show on time. Also the braised greens were delicious. More...
Really good food and great service.
Great food, great drinks, outside dining, and a bocce court. Need I say more?
Fantastic. Always the best at what they do.
Consistently great food and service. Must go place in Atlanta
Food and Service are TOPS
Empire State South has always been on my list and I've had the pleasure of visiting them twice in the past year. The menu does rotate regularly based on what's in season and for the most part, all dishes are great, but there are some stand-out favorites.
Excellent food, service was outstanding!

Friendly service, awesome throwback quality 90s playlist, relaxed and classy atmosphere for groups and dates.
Solid lunch for the midtown crowd. Chicken sandwich is a favorite
I got the spicy chicken sandwich. It was decent. I liked the fries though they could have been a little crisper. Overall good place to eat. Felt a little expensive for what we got but definitely not crazy. More...
Very fancy plates. I had the pork belly and was not disappointed by the plating nor taste, but the menu does change. They served these jars of different spreads and dips as an appetizer and it was very good. They also have cocktails and various drinks served that change frequently. More...
Service, food and atmosphere were all excellent. The reason I am not giving Empire State South 5 starts is because I felt the portion size for the price was small. I left pretty hungry and had a 3 course meal. Barely any meat on the chicken, even though the taste was great. Compared to JCT Kitchen, and South City Kitchen, Empire is my least favorite, due to price and quantity. If you eat less, highly recommend this place. More...
Great vibe; great people. The folks working the bar have an excellent knowledge of what you might like to drink (if you have no idea! ). The cuisine here is pretty precise, so make sure you take a look at the menu beforehand to make sure it's up your alley. Let's be honest though, if you don't like southern cooking, what are you doing in Atlanta at all? More...
Fantastic! Scallops were great, The Jars is a must get, and the service was fast and friendly.
The "in jars" was excellent.
Awesome foodGreat ambiance Great service Great place for a date
The 5 course tasting menu was fantastic!
Good food good services
Incredible food and drink menu
Food was great
Our server was very sweet and happy to explain the menu to us. We had some yummy cocktails (Bisou Bisou and Ask Alice), which are draft cocktails that they make in house. We ended up eating a dinner that consisted of all small plates! There were so many unique ones we wanted to try, that we couldn't pick just one or two! Must try: pickled shrimp, beets (yummy yogurty dressing was a great addition), farm egg (crispy rice was super unique!), and bokchoy (lamb bacon was interesting and new). The popcorn was also great, but a bit too salty. Skip: the greens. They were a bit watery and I couldn't tell if it was supposed to be a soupy salad or cooked greens, but I wasn't a huge fan. Overall we had great service and an enjoyable evening here! More...
Finest food experience in ATL!
Fantastic food, great service, wonderful cocktails. Highly recommend.
Amazing ambiance. Awesome cocktails and food.Had the shrimp and grits. Each bite tasted different and divine!
Wonderful place in a great location!
This is the place I always make sure to stop into when I'm in Atlanta. Great breakfast menu and outstanding coffee (Counter Culture), and the bar has just the right balance of sophistication and accessibility.
Southern food at it's finest. Drink program is outstanding at the classy bar. Weekday breakfast is definitely worth being late to the office!
Alex W. Slater
The shrimp and grits were great!
Love this place! Great vibe, fantastic service, outstanding food! We went for Sunday Brunch and each meal was prepared beautifully. The Breakfast is definitely one of my favorites! It's definitely a great southern experience. A little pricey, but I'd say it's worth it! Also, it's a cute place if you want to take your kids because there's space right outside to play bocce ball or just hang out on the synthetic turf. More...
I always enjoy when I come to ESS. The foods is great and the drinks are fantastic.
Had fun at the Netflix event
Très bon. Foncez
Lunch here is incredible. Their spicy fried chicken sandwich is amazing.
Fantastic food for the price. Definitely going back.
Great food and friendly staff
Love this restaurant. The drinks are amazing and the in jars appetizer is my favorite.
Fantastic service. Solid coffee. Great little outdoor seating area.
I've been putting this review off for far too long largely because of the sense of overwhelming intimidation I feel having to come up with adequate expressions of just how fabulous this place is! I'm going to try my darndest, and I proffer my humble apologies if this review falls short. Firstly, and most importantly, the kitchen at Empire State South, at the time of this writing is philosophically more street food vendor than fine dining. This is an honest compliment. The executive chef and the cooks are putting out food that they know is good, seasonal, local, and prepared with experienced restraint. What this means is that you can expect a quality ingredient that the chef and his team understand and go on to put their skills to work to bring those highlights out on the plate. There is no ego or need to impress on the plate, there are no towering constructs, bourgeois sauces, or gimmicky presentations, just honesty. I recommend the tasting menu with the wine pairing to be able to truly experience this ethos. Thought, passion, and care are obvious in almost every detail of the ride, and it was one of those meals that was perfectly calibrated to leave me satisfied, happy, and functionally aware enough to enjoy the warm glow of being alive to enjoy something truly special with friends and my new family at ESS! Some of the best steak and eggs for breakfast I’ve ever had! Chicken biscuit was too!
Amazing food and atmosphere.
Good place to meet for breakfast in midtown especially for larger geouos
Unique dishes. Great staff. Food is good.
Great casual place to grab good coffee (Counter Culture) and great food. The breakfast bagel is a must order.
Parking validated at the door for the lot behind the building

Our experience in the restaurant was pretty positive , the food is delicious and the service is great! Thd menu is small but with key dishes , the cocktails are very good!
Solid brunch. Bloody Mary was pretty standard. Pimento jar with bacon marmalade and toast was out favorite app, the morning bun was tasty too. I had the steak and eggs with roasted root vegetables. Tasty but not mind-blowing. My husband had the sourdough pancakes with ricotta and apple which were very tasty. Loved the vibes on the patio. We might go back of we're in the area. More...
Great meal and service.
My low Key Fav!
Absolutely Fabulous!!! Unique Southern style menu with ultra flair! Impeccable Service, knowledgeable Staff
Great restaurant with good sized private room for groups of 8-10.
Neat location, great food, but very limited menu. (Went for a business lunch).
Really good food. The bloody mary is unique, maybe old bay seasoning? They also have bottomless mimosas!
Great experience here. The farm egg farro was incredibly savory and rich-- one of my favorite dishes I had in 2018. Service and atmosphere was excellent. Not a cheap place but some of their dishes are amazing. More...
Absolutely lived eating here!Parking can be a little daunting, but the menu and service far exceeds expectations
Great atmosphere. Phenomenal food. Pricey, but worth it.
The place is quite relaxed and the wine list pretty good. I would have liked more choices on their lunch menu. The Shrimp and Grits was fabulous anyway.
Lunch menu was a little small.
We so enjoyed this little upscale restaurant. It is a little unnoticeable but a really good find. Sitting at Peachtree and 10th, it's a convenient place to grab a nice meal. Service was top notch. It is a little on the pricey side and minimal meal option, but all was prepared deliciously. Definitely would recommend! More...
We love going here for breakfast and brunch. My go to's on their brunch menu are the Fried Chicken Biscuit, the Farm Egg, and the Breakfast. Their Iced coffee is always great and strong.I have yet to go for dinner but I have heard that their menu is amazing. The service is always on point and they also just resurfaced their bocce ball court. More...

Best cocktails in ATL. Get the jars.
What a great place to grab a bite. Food was DELICIOUS!!
Lunch was fine. Limited menu w some unique offerings. Good service.
Wow! We had a corporate event here and it was an excellent venue!! The food was excellent! I still can't get over how good the Farm Egg (Or some name like that) was! It had this deep-fried rice that was AMAZING. Great texture and taste. Then the mushrooms, and other items mix together for a dish I could just keep eating! Also the restaurant is very nice casual. I love the outdoor area! More...
Great seasonal food and knowledgable serving staff.
Highly recommend the homemade pimento cheese. Pair that with one of their great cocktails and you’ll have a great happy house. The outdoor seating in particular is nice. More...
Excellent farm to table neo southern food. Highly recommended and worth the price of admission. The custom cocktails are also spectacular.
I eat breakfast here a lot. I love the atmosphere and the vibe. The food is really good and well prepared.
Sunday brunch at Empire State South is great. I had the chicken biscuit with the sweet potato hash instead of the grits and I’d definitely get it again. I did order the mimosa ($10) and it came in a white wine glass. I don’t think it’s worth it and would never order it again. If you’re looking for great food this is the place but not if you’re looking for value in drinks. More...
Farm bowl was really amazing! Make sure you leave the egg yolk runny.
Fantastic place! Such a warming vibe! Our server Vas was extremely helpful in pairing my our drinks to our menu items. Outstanding
I really appreciated this cafe, the food is incredible, as well as the restrooms were tidy. It was a little cool inside, really was not the most enjoyable. The food serve is good too. I will absolutely think about returning again if I have the opportunity. Me as well as my good friend purchased the salad as well as we were not let down. My one suggestion is to maintain the chilly outside. See you all again.! More...
Awesome, one of the best places I've been to in Atlanta. I went with a big group and when we arrived we hung out in the bar for a while, great atmosphere. Since everyone in my group ordered something different I had an opportunity to sample several different appetizers and meals. Every single one was fantastic. My favorite was the fried rice, one of the best things I've ever eaten. Great wine selection too. I had an opportunity to chat with the sommelier, really nice guy and he obviously knows his stuff. I highly recommend Empire State South. More...
I'll be back.
Good food and good service
Really excellent food and thoughtful service
Excellent food and service.
Delicious food albeit a bit overpriced for a place that seems stuck on a menu from 6 years ago
AMAZING!! One of my favorite places in Atlanta! The food is excellent - found my Soul (Food). The service has been wonderful and the vibe is quality with no pretence.
Love the outdoor space here
This dish is called superfood and it is fantastic, their coffee is delicious too. Excellent service@
Good place to grab something to eat
Great food and atmosphere. Loved the meat & pickles and Farm egg appetizers!
they serve delicious breakfast food in a relaxed atmosphere. I really liked this place, albeit a little pricey.
Everything was delicious!
Food and staff was absolutely amazing!
Wow. Just go.
Interesting menu, nice to try new items.
Wonderful! Try the poached egg, curry rice dish.
Although rented our family rented the whole restaurant for brunch, it was perfect. Staff was very kind and attentive. Food was outstanding.
They have an excellent chicken biscuit for breakfast.
La dona. A very good drink to Kate while waiting on the rest of the party to arrive. The food was amazing!
Great atmosphere, food & drinks but the service was slow.
Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Lots of attention to locally sourcing unique and flavorful ingredients. The restaurant is rustic. A very inviting place to spend an evening. Wine selection is great. Menu is small, but very interesting.I would definitely recommend Empire State South for a fun night out. More...
Just good enough for the price. Nothing there that woo'd me. Skip dessert, it was laughably executed. What you shouldn't skip is the 3 dollar Schlitz tallboys that come with a coozy OR the outdoor space!
The bar service is great
Amazing food and interesting cocktails. Favorite lunch spot in the area.
Not loud or crowded, it's a very chill sort of place. Perfect spot to wind down your evening out, it's an unexpected little location hidden away in an wide alley created by two large buildings. After the dinner crowd has left, this place is a fun hangout to grab a snack and sit around the bar area or to take your beverage outside to the courtyard, which being sandwiched between buildings blocks out the bustle of surrounding Midtown. Excellent cocktails and environment. Food menu looked superb, although we just met for drinks
Nice and unique take on food. For anyone who wants to experience something different.

Great food and staff are very nice. Definitely recommend it!!
Had a wonderful brunch here on a Sunday. The menu is very creative and varied. I had the “farm egg” which involved a perfectly poached egg over crispy rice, okra, corn, sausage and herbs. The server suggested stirring the egg into the dish and it was amazing! The cinnamon roll was also delicious!! Very enjoyable. More...
Nice place with a dog friendly terrace
Great food, not very southern but good.
Great staff, great food, and an extensive liquor selection. Sit at the bar and order the farm egg to start off.
Everything we tried was one of a kind. Such a unique and delicious menu. Fantastic service.

Incredible food and service. The lamb was one of the better dishes I have had in Atlanta.
Food and service are fabulous. Drinks are so creative and tasty. Worth the cost.
One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Make sure you make a reservation. The cocktail menu is fantastic and the bar itself is a great place to stop by for a casual drink when you are not having dinner. There is a wide drink selection as well as a good number of local beers.I love the ever-changing food menu and each time I have been here I got something different. One of the highlights of the meal that I had here last was a bacon-infused pimento cheese spread as an appetizer. More...

Great place for large groups, good service and food.
Just outstanding. The wait staff, the atmosphere and the food . Just a great experience
Absolutely amazing food and service. A little expensive but worth every penny.
Absolute ADORE this place. The food has never been less than fantastic, and the service is CONSISTENTLY top-notch. The last time my boyfriend and I came in, we made a last minute 10PM reservation this past Saturday. We both felt guilty for getting there so late. But the service was still excellent and the food was perfect. Our server, Tiffany, went absolutely above and beyond to make sure we felt welcomed. She talked to us a lot, and guided us through the menu, and we loved all of her recommendations! We were so lucky to have her as a server! I've never felt so at ease at a table! Thank you Tiffany and ESS! More...

Excellent eatery in Atlanta. Some real good mixoligists who will make your drinks spot on. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was very nice. Cool place if you are visiting.
Overall a great experience. I would definitely head back here for a meal and drink. I will say that because I was on a work trip is was easy to say okay to the higher prices. Which is really the only thing I would change since the sticker price shocked me coming from NYC. Oh and please get the boiled peanuts! These were some of the best I have ever had. More...

Radish cakes is tasty and different. A bit noisy, not so great for conversation.
Fantastic brunch and great ambiance
Great food and service
Drinks are phenomenal and unique. Service is beyond top notch! Beautiful ambiance.
We’ve been a couple times and have thought each time that it’s a little over priced for the food. The atmosphere is nice and pretty low key the times we have gone which are usually at opening and closing time.
Good food although smaller portions. Not too busy for Sunday brunch. Friendly service. Somewhat hard to locate as its in a large building. Could not find free WiFi.
Awesome food (I went for lunch) and the spicy chicken sandwich is a must.
This place was amazing! Great food and really cool atmosphere. The staff was also very nice and provided excellent service. I'll definitely be back!
Excellent food and high end southern cooking.
Food was amazing.
Creative, tasteful combinations of ingredients and excellent service.
Great food and service.
High end, creative southern food with a good ambience.
This salad is more than worth the $20 price tag. Fresh greens, grilled okra and peppers, grains, and most importantly extremely tender steak! On top of that, there was an amazing dressing whose contents I couldn't identify, but it was wonderful. The okra also allowed me to check off a "southern tourist" food box as well :) More...

Super fun vibe at this restaurant! The outdoor space has a bocce ball court (the balls are a little beat up, so don't plan to have a serious game here), with ample room for seating both small and large parties. The indoor is cozy, with a nicely sized bar, bar area, and dedicated restaurants seats/booths. The staff are very friendly, and the food delicious! A good, happening place to visit right after work. The food was really good and the service was great. The only complaint I have was the temperature, it was 78 degrees in the dining area. So hot!
Empire State South has an amazing coffee selection, from espresso drinks to a variety of different coffees to choose from. Great appetizers, wine and cocktails. Beautiful patio area. Friendly service. This place is a nice, upscale, hipstery modern bar with an American modern menu.

Food is excellent, perfectly executed.
Awesome trendy place with great views. Southern cuisine with great cocktails.
Upscale southern & fantastic coffee
The best hummus I've ever eaten, no joke. Great coffee too

Their Sirloin Steak is spectacular
Delicious food and cocktails.
Excellent appetizers and decent cocktails. Entrees were small but unique and delicious.i want to come back for lunch as I hear it is more traditionally southern.
Pet-friendly outdoor area, great for brunch!
Very upscale. Bartender was very efficient and I didn't wait 20 minutes for a drink despite the large crowd. Fast and Furious 8 was being filmed and Loews was the "home-base" for all of the stunt cars, so that was very cool as well.
Sweet and fun staff. Great food. The chocolate banana brulee was like your granny's banana pudding with coco. Sooo good.
The service was five stars. The food just four. I enjoyed the evening here because of friends and service.
Great food with a regularly changing menu. Staff is very friendly and helpful. The bacon on the burger was cooked perfectly.
Mr. J Jingle
If they began the offer more and better wines my rating would increase since the food is extremely tasty
Empire State South has become my go-to place for an end of work trip reward lunch. The fancified Southern food theme lets me pretend I had an ostensibly true local experience while still satisfying my inner food snobbery.
Empire State South has wonderful food, tapas and cocktails. Even if you don't come for dinner; stop over to the bar and enjoy classic and neo-classic cocktails made by friendly and knowledgeable bartenders.
Great cocktails and ambiance
Empire State South! Get the farm egg with rice!

I didn't give it 5 star even though the coffee (Drip of a Kenya and Ethopian blend) and breakfast was absolutely delicious. Was because my Barista wasn't very welcoming or friendly. If you're looking for a cool place to bring out of town guests, this is the place. It is admittedly over-priced for what you get. The presentation is beautiful, flavor is great, but portion sizes are tiny. The atmosphere, drinks, and outdoor courtyard, with bocce are the best parts of this place. And you can do all of those without dining there. More...
Great food & drinks and awesome patio! Loved everything about this place! We went here for mother's day brunch, and would definitely go back again.
This has been an excellent place to go for drinks downtown. The food and service hasn't met the same expectation in my experience.
This place has received a lot of poor reviews based on price but for farm to table food this place is great. Excellent place to bring friends and enjoy sharing food. Incredible atmosphere and you won't find a friendlier wait staff. More...
After having enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner here two years ago, we booked a Saturday night "Father's Day" dinner at ESS -- and had a pretty good experience. Appetizers and small plates were perfection: succulent (but a stingy serving of) octopus, whole Georgia shrimp in chili bourbon vinegar, and the spectacular farm egg with crunchy rice. Entrees, however, were not what they ought to have been, particularly at the ESS price range. My mustard-encrusted pork loin was pretty darn chewy (and what's easier to prepare than a tender pork loin?), and even the waygu flank steak was merely ... adequate (a bit too tough, though otherwise cooked perfectly). Tip: while the patio seating can look enticing, that space is a natural wind tunnel. If it's breezy at all, you'd do better snagging a seat inside. Still, we recommend the place -- though more for tapas, perhaps, than a celebratory meal. More...
